Premiere – Sonny Ism shares Archipelago Balearico from forthcoming second album
Scandinavian producer Ism drops sophomore LP in mid July
Scandinavia-based producer Sonny Ism (fka. Sonny) has announced the upcoming release of his sophomore album, Island Impressions.
Ahead of its release via Northern Underground Records in mid July, Sonny has exclusively shared a track from the project, ‘Archipelago Balearico’, via Juno Daily. The track is a smooth breaks-house joint, informed by the haze of smoky Copenhagen techno and epitomising the album’s laid-back tones.
Since moving to Denmark from Australia in 2017, Sonny Ism (real name Xavier Bacash) has enmeshed himself in the dance scene in Copenhagen, becoming friendly with Kasper Marrott and the Regelbau crew. The new release follows his debut album last year, ‘Union: Integration of the Shadow’.
On Island Impressions, Ism explores the emotions felt from his more recent move from Copenhagen to an island in Stockholm’s archipelago, Ingarö.
Through the mediums of deep house, balearic and breaks, Xavier channels the varying mindstates of exploring his new home with his fiance, regularly taking treks to pick berries and mushrooms, going fishing, and swimming in the sea. These sounds and textures were incorporated into the album.
‘Island Impressions’ will be released on July 16 via Northern Underground Records. Pre-order the album here
