Pioneer tease CDJ updates: is this the new NXS3?
Pioneer promise “a new dimension” but it’s not clear exactly what the next generation CDJs will look like.
In a cryptic Instagram video, Pioneer have teased what appears to be a long-awaited update to their CDJ range. With the flagship CDJ-2000NXS2 last updated at the start of 2016, it’s widely believed that a major overhaul of the industry standard players is on the way.
As far as details go, your guess is as good as ours. We suspect that the new CDJs will earn the next-generation NXS3 suffix and adopt some of the features from the brand’s flagship DDJ-1000 controller. We’d be surprised if that didn’t include the detailed jog wheel displays and performance pads from the DDJ.
Pioneer may well also be paying close attention to Denon’s recent product releases. Their rival Japanese brand’s flagship SC6000M players feature motorised jogwheels and dual-layer playback, among other unique features. Could we see Pioneer adopt a similar approach?
Time will tell. Release dates and prices are yet to be confirmed, but we’ll bring you all the details as soon as we have them.
