Listen: Galaxy 2 Galaxy – Live at The Forum Theatre, Melbourne

Something a bit special from the Red Bull Music Academy here: a live recording of a recent Galaxy 2 Galaxy live show, recorded last month at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre.

The legendary outfit headed by Underground Resistance don ‘Mad’ Mike Banks performed during the Australian leg of RBMA’s 2011 World Tour – essentially a series of dazzling worldwide events taking place in the lead up to the academy proper in Madrid.

Performing their seminal material (“Hi-Tech Jazz”, “Journey Of The Dragons”, the list goes on) alongside covers of Rolando and Juan Atkins, as well as unveiling a new, unreleased UR track, it goes without saying that this is a must-listen. Meanwhile the RBMA World Tour continues tonight with another ambitious event: they’ve hired out the London Eye and employed everyone from Goldie to Horse Meat Disco to DJ in each of the wheel’s pods. Those not in London to check it out can tune in online. Rumours that “Big” Ben Klock would be DJing in another famous London landmark across the Thames were made up by us.
