Sepalcure get the Love Pressure remix treatment
Hotflush have decided to revisit Sepalcure’s debut material by enlisting FaltyDL, Jimmy Edgar, XI, Daedelus and Lando Kal to remix tracks from the Love Pressure EP for a release which is set to drop next month.
The Sepalcure duo of Travis Machinedrum Stewart and Praveen Sharma are long term friends having co run the club night Cassette NYC and been involved in the Percussion Lab mix site. Their decision to step into the studio together has made a lasting impression on our affections both collectively and individually in the time since they debuted on Paul Rose’s imprint with Love Pressure. A subsequent EP for Hotflush, Fleur, arrived at the turn of the year whilst Sharma served up a superlative entrance into the Rush Hour Direct Current Series under his Braille alias. Meanwhile Stewart, the more celebrated of the duo, has been busy readying Room(s) – his latest album as Machinedrum for the Planet Mu imprint – which is due out in a few weeks.
On Love Pressure Remixed, Hotflush have commisioned five of the most exciting production talents to arise from North America in recent times to add their own take on the signature Sepalcure sound. The title track is featured most heavily with Canadian dubstep lynchpin XI, perrenial Juno Plus favourite FaltyDL and recent Hotflush signee Lando Kal all offering up different variations. Motor City sleaze pioneer Jimmy Edgar serves up a woozy, glacial revision of “Every Day Of My Life” whilst Ninja Tune’s resident West Coast dandy Daedelus has delivered a typically unique take on “Down” which seemingly crams several different stages of dance music history into just under four minutes.
Hotflush will release the Love Pressure Remixed EP by Sepalcure across 12″ and digital formats on August 15.
