This week at Juno

It’s been a long time coming but this Prime Numbers FINALLY unleashed the brilliance that is Discreet Unit’s “Shake Your Body Down” on the record buying public.

The track has been a staple of the Firecracker/Prime Numbers crew all summer and is destined to fit snugly in the upper echelons of our favourite releases of 2010. You can check out the vinyl version here and the give it some digital love here. Fans of the music they call house are also advised to check out this tasty little release from the Voyeurhythm label, as well as some organ magic from John Daly (alas the Irish deep house producer not the beer bellied US golfer).

Elsewhere at Juno Records, there were not one but two killer 12″s from Japanese duo Cos/Mes, which contained frankly amazing remixes from TBD and Welcome Stranger. Check them out here and here.

New albums arrived from Aeroplane, Terence Fixmer, San Soda and Shit Robot, as well as an impressively mixed Suck My Deck compilation from Friendly Fires.

At Juno Download, fans of dark, dubby techno were licking their lips at the latest Furanum release, on which label chief Dominik Muller commissioned a sprinkling of remixes of his own material. The highlight here has to be the mere presence of Tresor legend Baeks, aka Conrad Protzmann of Ancient Methods, with his first ever remixes under the alias and the first Baeks production of any type since 2001! His two remixes of Muller’s “Ich Bin Aus Oberschlesien” are, in short, stunning.

There were also stellar releases from A Made Up Sound, No Regular Play, Ibex and Cooly G, plus the first part of the Modeselektion series featuring Ramadanman and Bok Bok.

That’s it for this week – as always, happy hunting.
