Get Down With The Philly Sound

BBE have put together a fascinating video which briefly details the history of the Philadelphia disco sound, ahead of the label’s release of a Dimitri From Paris-curated compilation this month.

The 23 minute video features interviews with the likes of Sigma Sound Studios founder, Joe Tarsia, as well as the legendary Earl Young of the infamous Baker, Harris, Young Rhythm Section. There’s also additional footage of Tony Montana and Bobbi Eli, Jimmy Williams and Tom Moulton.

Two volumes of the four part 12″ package have already been released on Juno Records, while the 2xCD package will hit the shelves later this month. Digital versions will also be available from May 13 exclusively over at Juno Download.
