LA based electro pop trio, Pollyn unleash their first remix EP from their debut album, This Little Night. This release focuses on “Can’t Get Into It” off the album, with remixes coming from Bottin, Altair Nouveau, Blu Jemz and Sample 208.

Pollyn is a musical collective comprised of vocalist Genevieve Artadi, guitarist Anthony Cava and sound creator Adam Jay Weissman. As a band, they had remixed high profile acts such as The Gorillaz and Liquid Liquid and released their acclaimed EP, “Song For Sale” all before their debut album last year. This Little Night seemed to capture the quick and thorough development of the collective in an LP of smartly crafted pop music with enough edge and electronic seductiveness to make it stand out and be taken seriously. “Can’t Get Into It” was a prime example of this, and now gets its own release alongside a clutch of sharp remixes.

Beginning with the original version, we are reminded of the stripped down and beautifully sparse arrangements from Pollyn. Moody electronics and strings combine with Artadi’s seductive vocals to create a classic pop feel, but with added sophistication and style. Bottin delivers the first remix, bringing a space ace, funky electro feel to the track. DFA’s Altair Nouveau (Brandon Mitchell) provides the stand out re-work, turning the original into a seven minute space disco odyssey. Keeping the high class and fashionista feel of the album version, he flips his inimitable sound onto “Can’t Get Into It,” to make it a shimmering future disco classic. Blu Jemz take things deeper, strip the vocals to a relative silence and even more moodiness and drama before Sample 208 finish the EP off with their intriguing drum-led, rolling instrumental version.

Right from their conception, Pollyn have been far more interesting and dynamic than your average pop band. Once again displaying their titillation, “Can’t Get Into It” heaps in a group of skilled remixes that do a whole lot more than cut, chop and swap around with the original.
