Featured DJ Chart: Worthy

Washington native Worthy is now an intergral part of the fabric of San Francisco’s dance scene, having co-created Dirtybird Records with house cohorts Christian Martin, Justin Martin and Claude VonStroke upon moving to the West Coast almost a decade ago. Since then he’s dabbled in numerous productions on labels including Leftroom, Curfew, OM, Utensil and also set up his very own imprint, Anabatic. We caught up with the man himself to find out a bit about his top tunes of the moment.

1. Justin Martin – Get Low – Dirtybird

“I love what Justin did on this track, he put the vocoder to work on this one. It only took him a year and half to finally finish it! But it was well worth the wait.”

2. Daniel Steinberg – Rush Me (Format B Remix) – Formatik

“This one had been a killer in my bag for awhile. Format B killed on this remix so hard. And it’s great to see them starting their own label too. Hopefully it means more sick remixes like this one.”

3. Worthy – Eight Yay Eight – Anabatic

“I had to put one of mine on here. I love the way this track turned out this one and it only took me a year to complete this one for some reason. I love the low down 808 bass drops.”

4. DJ Madskillz – Surface -Bitten Holland

“Justin Martin just turned me on to this track the other week, and it is a pure killer on the dance floor.”

5. Christian Martin – Ghosts – Trapez

“I love Christian’s sound, it has always been a bit on the experimental side of things. This one in particular is a favourite of mine, I love all of the crazy spooky voices that are layered on top of each other. They create such a cool atmosphere to the track.”

6. Tom Flynn – Magia – Dead Fish

“My fellow Anabatic artist Tom Flynn made this one. I  was playing this a ton last summer and I heard Claude Von Stroke drop it a bunch of times too. So glad to see this one finally get out, and Dead Fish is a great new label too that Mowgli is running. Keep an eye out for releases on this label for sure.”

7. Mike Monday – Touch – Get Digital

“I love this Mike Monday track so much, it is perfect for me. I love Mike’s music too, he was one of the first people outside of my crew of friends to play some of my first tracks and he gave me a lot of confidence in my music.”

8. Saeed Younan – Kumbalha – Younan

“Been loving what Saeed has been doing, really funky and fun latin sounds that are perfect for the dance floor. Congo drums always get girls shaking there hips, and I just found out he is from my home town which makes him even cooler.”

9. Steve Mac – Sold My Soul – Smack

“I stumbled upon this track awhile ago and it has been a killer for me. It has the perfect mix of house and electro-ish crazy build ups that don’t go way over the top.”

10. Random Factor – Second Principles – 2020 Vision

“Been really into this track again lately. I love the big swelling synth chords on this one and the funky bassline. It’s such a nice track to relax to.”
