Cat: PE 006. Rel: 21 May 19
  1. El Kesh (5:59)
  2. Manimoto (5:20)
  3. Stab Me (4:57)
  4. Sacrifice (4:32)
Review: D. Tiffany's Planet Euphorique is back, following up some great freak outs by the likes of Nite Fleit, Reptant and Big Zen, with this retroverted trip by Ambien Baby: comprised of the label boss herself and Dan Rincon aka NAP. "Tack" is their sophomore effort after debuting on local tape imprint Isla last year, and as you'd expect, it borrows from house and techno's yesteryear, reinterpreting it with a modern edge as heard on the warped tunnel vision of "El Kesh" (which calls to mind the late German innovator Christian Morgenstern's finer moments), the dystopian electro funk of "Stab Me" and its unashamed Detroit influence plus closer "Sacrifice", which further explores Sophie Sweetland's love of intoxicating breakbeat sounds.

  4. Virtual Modular 2 Tape (4:09)
  5. I Never Owned A 303 (5:35)
  6. Crazy 4 R (5:24)
Review: Grenoble-based producer Binary Digit previously plied his trade on Seven Hills offshoot Zeitnot, so it's little surprise to see him popping up on its parent label. "Never Owned A 303" is the Frenchman's most expansive EP to date, with the six included tracks varying in tempo and intensity while making extensive use of razor-sharp synth riffs and mind-altering, TB-303 style acid lines. Highlights include the metallic, Syclops-goes-techno clatter of "ZE7U II", the "Braindance" influenced dancefloor madness of "Virtual Modular 2 Tape", the sprightly acid-electro bounce of opener "Acid Racing Head" and the DJ Funk style ghetto-acid rush of "I Never Owned A 303".

10 Yrs Rmx EP1 (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: JR 009.1. Rel: 20 May 19
  1. Blackhall & Bookless - "Spirit" (Inland remix) (7:16)
  2. Hiver - "Itria" (Jonas Kopp remix) (5:46)
  3. Kaelan - "Meandering Rivers" (Jasper Wolff & Maarten Mittendorff remix) (5:30)
  4. Stojche - "The Exchange" (Gian Hydrocity Refix) (5:40)
Review: Blackhall & Bookless have been pursuing a fantastic strain of house and techno via their Jaunt label for many moons now. They're back and celebrating 10 years with a series of fantastic remixes that highlight the scope of their artistic vision, and that of those close to them. Inland leads in with an oceans deep version of the label bosses' "Spirit", which is smartly followed up by Jonas Kopp's equally submersive take on Hiver's "Itria". Jasper Wolff and Maarten Mittendorff lets the swooning "Meandering Rivers" by Kaelan burst its banks and fill out an expansive landscape, while Stojche pings Gian's "The Exchange" out into an electro-speckled cosmos.

  1. The Prophets Smile (10:55)
  2. Moon (6:48)
  3. The Prophets Smile (Lory D remix) (6:57)
Review: The latest missive on leading Rome-based techno label Danza Tribale comes from the mighty DJ Red, one of the residents of the fabled Goa club. As a leading light in Italy's techno scene, Red has years of killer releases behind her, and she demonstrates her incredible instinct for trance-inducing rhythmic workouts in fine style here. "The Prophets Smile" is a masterclass in understated submission, creating a tactile environment out of unrelenting beat programming and artful atmospheric sound design that takes on an organic quality to offset its cyclical nature. "Moon" is a more mechanised construction that uses interwoven synth lines to keep things moving, and it's just as accomplished and engrossing. Italian techno veteran Lory D steps up for a remix of "The Prophets Smile" that keeps things chilly while working a more pronounced beat into the track.

Review: We are proud to showcase more Bay Area family with the release of a new EP by Doc Sleep who cut her chops as a DJ in San Francisco's vibrant scene the past decade. In 2016 she made the move to Berlin and became a resident of Room 4 Resistance. Since 2013, she's been the co-owner of Jacktone Records, which specializes in techno, ambient, and experimental electronics. In 2016/2017 she released her first 12's on the Hot Mass-affiliated Detour Records and Bottom Forty. She also co-wrote a track with Bezier and Nicole Ginelli, titled "Stranger," that we released on the 'Primes' EP in 2017. Her latest release, 'Your Ruling Planet', was released on Jacktone in March 2019. We first heard "Creme Fraiche" on Doc's soundcloud page and begged to release it. The track has the feel-good vibes you get on early morning dancefloors as things are winding down or up. Paired on the A-side is the pulsating dark jam "Never Eating Again" that previously appeared on 'Run The Length Of Your Wildness V.2' and, like that compilation, proceeds from this track will be donated to Ghost Ship Fire victim Cherushii's family. On the B-side are two remixes from close friends of Doc. First up is a fresh breakbeat remix from Violet: DJ, producer, boss of Naive records, co-founder of Radio Quantica, and mina resident shaking up Lisbon's nightlife. Second is Berlin-based producer and fellow R4R resident, rRoxymore, who presents an innovative remix of future-facing techno and bass variations adding her own vocals on top. For this release we've teamed up with Jacktone to release a cassette version, our first in this format, featuring two peak-time bonus tracks. All songs have been mastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Each copy is housed in jacket designed by Eloise Leigh with neon pink and lavender gradients echo morning sunrises with a collage of dreamy elements using a photo by Doc of Club Toilet in Detroit.

Between Rhythms III (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: PLA 027. Rel: 20 May 19
  1. Point Zero (7:36)
  2. B K S (7:14)
  3. Traditional Ties With Dreaming (5:27)
  4. Elevator (9:32)
Review: Platform 23 continue to explore the illustrious, intriguing archives of Exquisite Corpse with a third installment of early 90s gold. There's a pronounced trance edge to Robbert Heynen's productions here, all captured in that heady period between 1992 and 1994 when the tag stood for some of the trippiest dance music you could hope to get lost in. "Point Zero" is a forthright stomper laden with lysergic tones that morph and modulate over the driving rhythm section. "B K S" sports a jazzier tone that aligns it more with deep house than trance, but it's still geared towards maximum immersion. "Traditional Ties With Dreaming" is a more angular piece that emphasises interlocking percussive rhythms with a tribal techno bent, and "Elevator" rounds things off with a swooning slice of impeccable ambient techno.

So Glad (12")
Cat: MPM 32. Rel: 22 May 19
  1. So Glad (7:14)
  2. I Feel Him Moving (6:15)
Review: While Robert Hood's Floorplan records have always been exciting and on-point, they have somehow got even better since his daughter Lyric joined him in the studio in 2015. The pair's latest gospel-sampling release is particularly potent, with both cuts sounding like peak-time anthems in waiting. We're particularly excited by A-side 'So Glad", a killer mixture of thumping techno grooves, dreamy deep house pads, looped piano snippets and brilliantly cut-up gospel vocals. That's not to say that the B-side is much weaker, though; in fact, with rasping preacher vocals, bustling Chicago house beats, mind-mangling organs and insatiable drum fills, it's arguably even bigger.

  4. Enter 030 (5:19)
  5. Zuidas (4:16)
  6. Virtual Shoulder (To Cry On) (4:45)
Review: One of the great joys of Matthew Puffett's Future Beat Alliance productions is the stargazing futurism that oozes from each far-sighted melody, intergalactic chord and impeccably programmed beat. That sci-fi-centric positivity is evident throughout this EP, from the smooth and emotive goodness of opener "Truth?" and the sharp, spiraling alien melodies of "Leave This Planet (Alone)", to the ghostly ambient techno bliss of "Enter 030" and the becalmed, beat-free electronic fluidity of sublime ambient composition "Virtual Shoulder (To Cry On)". Elsewhere, "Zuidas" wraps ethereal electronics and funky acid bass around snappy broken beats, while "Bitten" is a dusty chunk of hip-hop/electronica fusion.

  2. Pride 1996 (4:51)
  3. Choose To Live (7:21)
  4. Running Away From Home (5:20)
Review: MDA Analog's scant discography points to just a few essential items from the mid 90s and one 12" in 2004, but those records made enough impact to now be highly sought after. Having returned earlier this year with the welcome reissue of "Shine", now they're turning their attention to "Pride", another 1996 jam that originally appeared on Nova Zembla. "Pride 2019" does a fine job of updating the original into a slower, funkier house framework, while the original "Pride 1996" has a pleasing rowdiness to offset the melodious harmony of the synth work. "Choose To Live" is a new production that applies a full-fat frequency range, from powerful basslines to swirling chords up top, while "Running Away From Home" creates a heady brew of hi-tech soul for astral travelers.

  4. Give Me Insanity (5:30)
Review: New York techno mainstay Reade Truth has skirted around widespread recognition with a long-standing commitment to underground techno approaches recognised by those that know as some of the best in the business. This release sees him dust down the first release on his label Path, 20 years after it originally did the business. It's high time tracks like "The Path" that get a fresh airing - the dynamic, detailed approach to drum programming and warm acid undulations sound as relevant now as they did back then. "319" is a more reflective jam that heads into emotive, moody territory that highlights the breadth in Truth's sound, before "Give Me Insanity" round things up by taking it super-deep thanks to expansive pad sweeps and shimmering hats aplenty.
