  2. H0SS3G0R (Alex Picone remix) (5:24)
  3. E04 (5:46)
  4. R4L4L4 (6:49)
Review: BinarySound is a new label by Frenchman Antoine Sy. He presents a wicked release here which inaugurates the label, featuring some analogue mini-fink that bridges the gap between first and second wave Detroit aesthetics - in particular Daniel Bell's renowned groove reductionism. Fans of Spacetravel, Binh or Evan Baggs will appreciate this little beauty. From the quirkin' and bumpin' bounce of "H0SS3G0R" (a tribute to Sy's hometown) and the wicked remix by Seekers' Alex Picone next which injects a bit more dancefloor dynamic into it. On the flip, "E04" is the kind of retroverted jam that Berlin's Libertine crew would be partial to, while the blip/blurp/bleep of "R4L4L4" is another respectful nod to the old-school by a promising up and comer of the new school.

  3. Neuromancer (Krystal Klear remix) (8:50)
Review: Bursting onto the scene with some impressive releases on Hotflush and Permanent Vacation, Danielle Caldelas aka Terr presents a brand new thriller on Correspondant. The Neuromancer EP features yet more of her trademark dark romantic techno, with influences of EBM, synth-pop and house. From the sultry and euphoric title track that's packed full of soaring synths, rushy arpeggios and a distinct retro flair throughout, the falling acid of "Multiverse" with its unashamed Kraftwerk influence or the roaring and neon-lit remix by New York by way of Dublin's Krystal Klear on the flip.

  3. Thieves Are Operating In This Area (4:54)
  4. Foaming At The Mouth (4:09)
  5. Lyubov (3:54)
Review: While it's easy to forget about their heritage, which dates back to the early 90s, Teste have been blasting techno since before many of you were born. Morphing and evolving perpetually, the trio consisting of Dave Foster, Himadri and Soren B have produced all sorts of techno infusions, whether through labels like Probe, or later Edit Select, landing them a spot on the recently found BITE imprint. They follow up on Phase Fatale and Silent Servant's opener, leading their own charge with the tenebrous aura of "The Box Man", part-techno and part-noise, with "The Long Term Care Facility" building on that with sense-shattering showers of sonic gloom. The flip side is yet more cavernous glory, first with the humming bass of "Thieves Are Operating In This Area", then onto some sinister glitch fuzz via "Foaming At The Mouth", and finally culminating in a gentle prog-rock lullaby through "Lyubov".

Flight 770 (heavyweight vinyl 12")
Cat: BALL 108. Rel: 13 Jul 18
  1. Flight 770 (8:21)
  2. Night Of The Invisible BodySNADchers (6:46)
  3. Thunder Over Tbilisi (6:37)
  4. Look At All Those Stars (6:08)
Review: Flight 770 is an EP about global moods and inspirations, made around a trip to Georgia, where Thee J Johanz played at a festival with his friends from Goa. The title track combines old school gfunk grooves with techno sounds and dreamy leads from the rare Korg 770, while the boutique Russian Mad 5 drumsynth is spanking your ass with vibrant claps. Night of the bodySNADchers started as a project for the Goan Gandu label by Snad and Iggy the Bastard. It's inspired by the trippy vibe of the endless (after)parties at Cirrus, near Chapora. Thunder Over Tbilisi expresses the pressure you feel in Georgia, specially after what recently happened to club life in Tbilisi. Coming back to Holland Thee J Johanz played at the Island of Terschelling and refound himself looking at the stars. Small dots in a seemingly infinite universe. But also massive electrifying diamonds.

Cat: WPTMWL 04. Rel: 30 Jul 18
  1. Rainy Dog
  2. The Mugs Game
  3. Running With Foxes
  4. Talk Fast
Review: Following on from a sterling bout by Luminer, Torino label We Play The Music We Love drop this bombshell from a hitherto unknown producer from their inner circle, Tomlin. The vibe is pumped up and acidic, with healthy notes of Italo and wave threaded into the mixture for good measure. "Rainy Dog" is bold and voluptuous while there's a nervy, brittle energy around "The Mugs Game" that should satisfy spinners looking for the freaky stuff. "Running With Foxes" is laden with playful arpeggios atop stripped back beats, while "Talk Fast" makes great use of some nifty vocoder work to create a reflective slice of braindance magic.

  1. Collider (6:56)
  2. Arachnide (7:45)
  3. Collider (Donato Dozzy remix) (6:37)
  4. Pulse Pattern (6:53)
Review: Pushmaster Discs head-honcho, Mattia Trani, lands on Marco Faraone's Uncage imprint, which means that we are being supplied with quality techno tracks that have been created with the sole purpose of getting people to dance. "Collider" is a weighty, bass-heavy 4/4 number complete with a metallic swarm of sounds for maximum impact, and "Arachnide" follows with a much darker, moodier, more ethereal approach. The B-side contains a woozy, acid-leaning remix of "Collider" from fellow Italian, Donato Dozzy, who unsurprisingly reveals a beautifully crafted dancefloor gem, while "Pulse Pattern" tear the roof down with an endless loop of outer-space euphoria. A recommended EP, with that killer Dozzy reinterpretation.

  1. Twelon - "Quad" (6:46)
  2. Nollern - "Sitar Pro" (6:51)
  3. TLK - "In Your Shadow" (6:15)
  4. Xantrax - "XTK" (4:22)
Review: Freshly minted German label Ecke has not said much about their debut release, a compilation style affair featuring "off-kilter beats by artists from Europe and beyond". It is, though, a quietly impressive affair. Twelon kicks things off with the psychedelic intensity of buzzing opener "Quad", where warped, looped electronics and foreboding motifs buzz around a sparse but heavy beat, before Nollern peppers a popping, ever-changing post-electro drum track with a whisper of moody electronics. Over on the flipside, TLK's "In Your Shadow" fixes blissful, glassy-eyed synthesizer melodies to a bustling but laidback breakbeat, while Xantrax's "XTK" underpins vintage ambient house sounds and samples with a skewed electro rhythm.

  1. TX Connect - "Ghetto 214" (8:27)
  2. R-Computrax - "303" (10:37)
Review: Gavin Guthrie AKA TX Connect has released productions over the last 5 years on some of the most prominent labels in the game, including L.I.E.S., Dixon Avenue Basement Jams & Creme Organization. Now with his own label T.R.U., it's time for another of his following his track "Haddonfield, IL Pt. 2" on TRUHWN01.

TX Connect's Ghetto 214 is a Chicago-style jack track Gavin has become known for. Ghetto 214 harkens back to Robert Armani's Circus Bells and the glory days of Dance Mania. It starts innocently enough but builds into a frenetic track that ultimately destroys you with manic claps and sirens.

Newcomer R-Computrax, hailing from Dallas Texas no doubt, provides the B-side with 303, another early Chicago-inspired jack track that has elements of Master C+J synths but takes it to another level with a scathing bass backed with a spoken-word track. Insane? Maybe.

Review: Neil 'Nail' Tolliday's 89:Ghost label continues to deliver the goods, this time reaching out to Scandinavia and the considerable talents of Vesa-Matti Kivioja. The Finnish producer has been producing high-end electronic music for many years, not least in the ambient field, but here he's mining a particularly inventive style of dub techno that draws parallels with the mighty Porter Ricks in terms of sound design. Across all four tracks the drums act as a subtle counterpoint to dense thickets of texture and tone writhing with organic intent around the groove. As dancefloor friendly as it is brain-teasing, this is a seriously classy slice of dub techno immersion.

  4. Tzonqul (5:53)
Review: We've become used to seeing Vril's releases variously slip out on Giegling and Delsin, two titans of the underground electronic music scene. Here he flips the script, decamping to the first-rising Dystopian label for four-track, floor-focused excursion. Opener "Omniverse" is deliciously skewed and trippy, layering crackling audio textures and slipped warehouse rave stabs over a delightfully wonky, off-kilter techno rhythm. You'll find a tougher and more distorted rework of the same track on the flip. This feels heavier and more intense, despite the presence of hazy, dub techno style production values. Elsewhere, closer "Tzonqul" is outer-space dub techno with the heart of a Pete Namlook spacey ambient special, while "Paradiqma" is another trippy, left-of-centre techno workout built around broken rhythms and deep space electronics.

  3. A Brief Trip To Space
  4. French Stu
Review: After a strong run of releases between 2013 and 2014 that saw the likes of Hakim Murphy and Mark Forshaw grace their grooves, III Rivers are back in action with a sterling new effort from apparent debutant producer Dane Weaver. The techno foundations of the label sound as strong as ever on "Atom Soup," which charges ahead on firm but malleable arpeggios with an acidic undertone. "In The Clear" is a more wriggly affair with a swung groove and plenty of off kilter delights for wonkier dancefloors. "A Brief Trip To Space" opens up the B side with some delightful anchorless tones, and then "French Stu" burrows deep into the outer realm of machine manipulation in a gritty demonstration of leftfield techno.

Review: Frustratingly, I-F's Viewlexx label is keeping tight-lipped about this rather fine EP. They've offered no details of the artist behind the project - or anything else for that matter - and their promotional spiel consists of one line in Latin. What we can tell you is that it's a suitably dystopian affair, with the mystery producer launching with a chunk of industrial-tinged experimental electronica (the decidedly fuzzy "Initiation"), before joining the dots between Cabaret Voltaire and Drexciya on the decaying dancefloor electro pomp of "Flight From Reason". Some will detect a nod towards Test Department on "Refuse Resist" and "Instrument of Power". Elsewhere, there's a looser and more alien feel to "Circle of Trust", while closer "The Wheel of Rituals" is deliciously dark and hypnotic.
