  1. RVO - "Ambipolar Diffusion" (10:41)
  2. Deepbass - "Amazonian" (11:17)
Review: Telemorph mainstay RVO (short for Reggy van Oers, fact fans) returns to the esteemed Dutch label with another suitably epic workout. Over the course of the 11 whirlwind minutes that make up "Ambipolar Diffusion", van Oers layers horror soundtrack chords, dystopian melodies and dub techno style manipulated field recordings over a thrusting, arpeggio-driven techno groove. While restlessly intense, the track is poignant and melancholic. The flipside is taken up by a previously unheard cut from Deepbass, a Barcelona-based Glaswegian who recently impressed with an EP on Materia. His track, "Amazonian", is arguably even better, cannily joining the dots between tribal-infused broken techno, creepy ambience and the hazy atmospherics of the best dub techno.

  1. Test Tubes (Hammer remix V8) (6:55)
  2. Fishbowl (Mor Elian remix) (5:59)
Review: Some six months after Paul "Scuba" Rose delivered a fine first album from his vowel-free SCB project, Hammer and Mor Elian step up to remix two of that set's most celebrated tracks. Bicep associate Hammer handles "Test Tubes", rolling out a mix bristling with crispy percussion, mind-mangling electronic riffs, foreboding electronic bass and chiming melodies. In contrast, LA producer and Hypercolour regular Mor Elian opts for a more loose-limbed and broken rhythmic approach, cannily showcasing her love of alien electronics and fuzzy ambient textures over stabbing analogue bass and sweaty, jazz-wise machine drums.

  4. MS 04 (138 remix) (4:49)
  5. 007 (SC-164 remix) (6:18)
Review: Georgia-born, Brooklyn-based Sophia Saze set up Dusk & Haze to release 'genre-free' experimental music, exhibited in the label's debut release entitled 'Solace' EP featuring four versatile cuts from Sophia herself and twisted electro and techno remixes from Umwelt and Benjamin Damage. The second release comes from the enigmatic SDX, a masked artist who's fiercely championed left-of-centre dance music for decades. Crunchy drums and a thumping bassline kick things off in 'MS 04' before Los Angeles duo 138 provide an outstanding remix incorporating a cacophony of raw breaks. Modulated flutters, warped blips and white noise create 'MS 08', leading into the organic drums and off-kilter arpeggios of '007' until New York's SC- 164 reworks '007' delivering a pulsating sub and distorted vocal chops.

  5. Nocturne (5:41)
Review: ??Introducing Paris-based contemporary sculptor and music maker Erwan Sene joining the exponential Unknown Precept roster. Gathering pieces thought of as little narratives for his debut release, not without a bit French irony around the concept of work, 'I Heard You Laughing' wavers towards mechanical repetition and something more outdated at times. Purposely slowing down the tempo to fit the apparent redundancy of an industrial environment and its steadily running engines. An eroded atmosphere of sorts, analogous to the smokestacks emanating from factory chimneys. Accentuating the ambiguity of a wild thought which is hard to grasp. Despite its machine-driven aspect, Sene primary questions the difficulty to manage one's life stuck in a primitive mindset, making intuitive associations in a grid pattern. Carbon copy music for the tangled minds out there, leaving room for nothing but sedated feelings.

Review: From Another Mind continues to establish itself as an essential label with a fantastic fifth release entitled 'Die Augen Des Teufels' from label bosses SHDW & Obscure Shape. Marco Blasi and Luigi Urban are main room techno talents who make no bones about the size of their sound. Classic techno, rave, EBM and acid all colour their grooves. In 2016 Groove Magazine chose
them as "Newcomer of the Year", while they have also released their 'Himmel Und Erde EP' on the mighty Rekids, as well as remixing the boss's anthemic 'Grindhouse' in recent months. Two years later, the duo now follow up 'Die WeiBe Rose' - their last original release on From Another Mind - with four tracks that reflect the pair's trademark versatility as producers and the sound they play as DJs.

Review: Shielding's Innerlig is viscous, densely detailed, trippy music. Dripping with texture, these are supple tunes that generously expand to fill whatever space they're in, loops stretching towards the lilac virtual horizon. Constantly mutating rhythms, heavily atmospheric grooves. RIYL Harmonious Thelonious, Jan Jelinek, Theo Parrish.

  1. Stealth (6:54)
  2. Din Sync (6:58)
  3. Third Edge (7:20)
  4. Rotary (7:22)
Review: John Shima's recent rise has been built on an uncanny ability to produce futurist electronic club music that's almost overpoweringly melodious. Or, to put it another way, the Sheffield producer makes high-grade tracks that simultaneously move the head, heart and feet. Shima's latest outing - his first for DMK - is another superb collection of cuts. Such is the quality, it's hard picking favourites, though we'd direct you towards the glistening, sun-bright melodies and snappy machine drums of "Din Sync", the contemporary clonk (look it up, kids) meets Detroit flex of "Rotary" and the technological sweetness of opener "Stealth". Recommended.

  1. Dangerman (8:13)
  2. Lifted Spirits (6:21)
  3. Apache (8:04)
Review: Enzo Siragusa is no stranger to collaboration, having previously released studio hook-ups with the likes of Alexkid, Subb-An, Nima Gorji, Archie Hamilton and Seb Zito. Here German veteran Martin Buttrich joins the London-based FUSE regular for a tasty three-track hoedown. They hit the ground running on A-side "Dangerman", a formidably funk-fuelled chunk of bouncy tech-house rich in trippy minimalist vocal samples and undulating TB-303 bass. Flip the record and you're greeted with "Lifted Spirits", where meandering choral style vocals and razor-sharp acid lines dance across a foreboding groove, before Siragusa and Buttrich round off proceedings with the heavy, feverish Afro-house/tech-house fusion of fine EP closer "Apache". Get on it (the record, we mean).

Review: Quasi reminds us of the mid-90's US styled Techno from the likes of Synewave and even some Robert Hood tracks from that era, but optimized for the floors of today. On the B-side, Parallel goes into familiar Skudge territory, with a brooding and haunting atmosphere - twisted up with some of that well-known funk that Skudge has been pushing for a decade now.

  3. Warehouse Boy (7:01)
Review: Publicity shy German jack-masters Snuff Crew seem like a good fit with Bleeper, the sister label to Jerome Hill's TB-303 powered Super Rhythm Tracks imprint. Certainly, you can imagine Hill strutting his stuff behind the decks to A-side "Where's The Bad?", a suitably stomping, funk-fuelled techno workout smothered inanalogue beeps, fuzzy stabs and faintly foreboding riffs. Over on side B, "Naughty" creates maximum energy out of jacking machine drums, chopped-and-looped vocal samples and a gargantuan bassline, while "Warehouse Boy" wraps psychedelic TB-303 acid lines around a bouncy but banging rhythm track and metronomic bassline.

Review: SRVD is the new collaboration between Rekids main man Matt Edwards and German art director, illustrator and model Patrick Mason. The pair supposedly met on Berlin's club scene, which led to a gradual form of collaboration - hanging out at the studio later evolved into improvised performances in their fair city and beyond. Their first single "Elevate" perfectly captures the raw spirit and vibe of their live show, which they recently premiered at the infamous Panorama Bar. A chugging, moody and heads-down affair for the back room, plus the hyperactive/bombastic jack of "Nasty" which features another arresting vocal delivery by Mason.

  3. Hide & Seek (Fold dub) (6:17)
  4. Hide & Seek (Jonas Friedlich dub) (7:05)
Review: Boogie Box launched in style last year with a release from the mighty STL, and now they're revisiting that strong first step with a clutch of smartly selected remixes from some deep cover operators. Juniper drops two dubs of "Haze & Kraze" that press squashed synth pressure, found sounds and splattering FX into tight but funky grooves with a distinctly nocturnal feel. Fold's dub of "Hide & Seek" spaces things out beautifully, taking a crooked, steppers approach that works wonderfully with the source material. Jonas Friedlich's own dub of "Hide & Seek" takes a dustier path through the undergrowth, completing a package of truly non-conformist techno that chimes with STL's own outsider spirit.
