Review: The unstoppable and irrepressible Louie Vega has commissioned a bunch of remixes of Tony Touch's 'Sacude' for his own Vega label. The man himself opens things up with a Brooklyn mix that is heavy on raw beats, percussion and Latin rhythm. Manoos goes for something a little more smooth and shuffling, while Oscar G's 305 remix is a deep, elastic groove with eerie synth work. He also serves up a dub, Tony Touch reworks his own original into something full of fire and a dark Louie Vega Bronx mix closes out the package.

Review: When a label calls itself Bring Dat Ass you can bet your bottom dollar that it's going to release proper sleazy electro. Enter Toribio with a superb four track EP of just that to get this new imprint underway. 'No Pare' is a firing cut the kick off with - synths dart about with their own mind, the tested bassline never lets up and the analogue drums jack for days. 'Work Dat Shit' is a little slower and bumpier with some bright acid prickles and 'Cimarron Palace' then unfolds with the same swing of a UK funky track. 'Anti Narcoleptic' is the best of the bunch - a weird and wonderful wonky out with clattering percussion and jumbled drum madness.

Review: Toupaz is a new name on our radar but he'll stay firmly on it after this release on forward-thinking London label, Well Street. The EP kick-starts with a fusion of techno, bass and club rhythms spliced with brilliantly bubbly toms & synths that fall down the face of broken beats. The flip side explores a new take on UK funky with whirring machines and fractured vocals, whilst the closer 'Maudlin Lakitu' features the most experimental and skeletal rhythms of the project.

Review: Toureua's 'Telecommande' (which is French for remote control) is a perfectly uplifting tune that layers in smart trance elements over sleek drums. On the Martin Matiske interpretation, the melodies call to mind the perfect early work of Kraftwerk and the textured bass has hints of 80s magic. All in all, it is smooth and serene and perfect for lift-off whether in high summer or the darkest winter. The original is a little more doleful but no less emotive and then a Felix Bernhardt remix gets heavy and Vicky Montefusco opts for an eerie late-night vibe.

Review: As the founder of his own Pushmaster Discs platform, Mattia Trani has been able to steer his own course into the field of hard-edged techno over the past 10 years or so. Now he's offered up his 2021 album Scenery to a heavyweight cast of remixers, spread over two releases to give greater prominence to the powerful results contained within. On this first version, the one and only minimal master Robert Hood leads the charge with a clangorous, industrial version of 'One More Step' before Ken Ishii brings a tightly-wound pressure to 'Scenery'. Review: Back in 2021 Italian hard techno producer Mattia Trani released his standout Scenery LP on his own label, Pushmaster Discs. Two years on, he's amassed a frankly staggering cast of remixers to cast their spells over his original tracks, compiled on two separate volumes. After the likes of Hood, Ishii, Slater and Dettmann performed their rites on part one, now it's the turn of some breakthrough names you'll be wanting to take note of. Indira Paganotto brings an eerie, trance-flecked atmosphere to 'No Future', Paul Ritch opts for a cavernous kind of dub techno pressure and Luigi Madonna tweaks out some acid styles on 'Inner Hardships'. Meanwhile the B-side opens up with Alignment's jackhammer workout on 'End Of Days', and Lee Ann Roberts closes the circle with her rave-ready, 303-toting version of 'Biologic Horror'.

Review: It's no mean feat to clock up 30 releases but that's what the reliable German label Key Vinyl does here. The honour of being the name on the wax this time round is given to Translate and Pulse who pair up for four funky and stylish techno tracks. The first 'Ocular Optics' is full of bounce and modulated synth ripples while 'Global Agreement' cuts loose on more manic melodic patterns that call to mind early Jeff Mills. The lashing synths and cantering drums of 'Nodes 2926' make for a fine peak time ride and then 'Backup Quest' layers eerie and haunting organ chords with edgy melodies and thumping kicks.

Review: The sophomore release on Miami's Alchemista comes from Translate (Teo Pellegrino) and Joel Pulso, two rising Argentinian producers who join forces for some seriously mental techno excursions on 'Cuadricular Dreaming Pannel'. The first side of this essential 12' features the hypnotic interplanetary minimalism of 'Specific Angles' reminiscent of classic Sleeparchive, followed by the majestic and cyclical title track which this time takes its cues from Jeff Mills' unmistakable Axis sound. Over on the flip, the title track is treated to a surefire remix by the inimitable Oscar Mulero, head of Pole Group, who manages to inject more dancefloor dynamics into the arrangement, accentuating the spacey elements underpinned with a stronger rhythm department while staying true to the vibe of the original.

Review: Back in 2001, short lived Tresor Berlin sublabel Supremat released Mind Over Positive & Negative Dimensional Matter by Drexciya co-founder James Stinson under his Transllusion moniker. This much needed reissue features all three original tracks. There's the murky electro funk of 'Disrupted Neural Gateway', the minimalist beat dystopia of 'Do You Want To Get Down?' and more ghosts in the machine conjured up on B-side offering 'Power Of The 3rd Brain'. 2022 marked the 20th anniversary of Stinson's untimely passing.

Review: Given it's a reunification of latter-day UK electronic visionary Rian Treanor and decade-spanning next level imprint Planet Mu, many ears will already know what to expect from this one - a collection of tracks that are jarring, alien and wildly unorthodox, while still somehow immediately engaging rhythmically. Suffice to say, your presumptions are correct in this case.
In many ways the four tracks here are among Treanor's most accessible, although that's perhaps not saying too much. The broken, dub-techno-on-speed opener, 'Obstacle 2', manages to be frantic and deep at the same time. The glittering synth lines of 'Obstacle 3' help create a sense of rave-y invitation, despite the track itself being a staccato curveball. While the remaining two efforts are equally impressive examples of how to push sonic limits without asking too much in terms of audience endurance.

Review: Gregor Tresher is one of the artists who can say has just about completed techno. He's been at the top table for decades and always cooks up monstrous sounds that will slay any seized club. That he is now back on Sven Vath's Cocoon makes perfect sense as both are titans of the scene. He offers two direct and to the point tracks here - one on each side of this 12". 'Black Halo' channels the sort of intense energy and cosmic vibes you would expect of a tune with that title and on the flip, 'Phantom Dancer' is another irresistible techno tune awash with electric synth work and smart drum progmaming.

Review: Cultivated Electronics presents For the Floor Volume 2, the second instalment in a split EP series that hears something of a fusion between techno and electro, together with a focus on sating the more cerebral dancefloor. Dutch techno pusher Tripeo delivers two techlectro confidence-trickers, 'Bullshit Detector' and 'Echo Cages', deploying a new kind of mysterious, alien sonic technology that makes our mere digital and quantum vanguards look, well, rather shoddy. Meanwhile, Spanish dub techno producer Cycloplex brings up the B, upping the floor's collective blood pressure with 'Hypertension' and simu-stimulating the human stress response with 'Alarm Activated'. An urgent dance EP with mechanistic edges; it probably shouldn't be handled without a hard-hat, goggles and gloves.

Review: Troy is back on Klockworks with more of his signature sound across four effective but also stylish sounds. First u pis the classic Berlin sound of 'Zenith' with its rattling dub chords and loopy synth smears. It's grainy and lo-fi and irresistible. Review: Troy is a Ukrainian producer and a resident of Port Odessa with a knack for fresh rhythms and captivating sound designs. His style is rooted in a futuristic take on techno with plenty of liberal acid deployment as demonstrated in this EP on the 5511 Records label. 'Start' brings the heat with a mechanical groove and pulsing synths while 'Kayak' cuts loose on snappy kicks and hits with woodpecker-like 303s never letting up. There is a woody feel to the corrugated drum funk of 'Life Is Road' and 'IO' is a percussive workout to fry brains.

Review: Dynamic Reflection keeps up its impeccable run of form with a tasteful various artists EP featuring some innovative talents. Troy is first out of the blocks with the stripped-back and dubby techno energy of 'Yann' which locks you in with its loopy melodic riffs. Svarog & Ma-Gooch offers the much deeper and heady 'Spaces' with its groaning loops and super smooth linear drums. Luigi Tozzi follows a similarly economical path with the seductive bass and synth loops of the undulating and transcendental 'Haboob' which leaves Jonas Korbl to close out with 'Primal Grade.' Though still steeped in hi-fidelity sound design, this one hits harder with a more bulky low end and swinging bass.

Review: Los Angeles techno titan Truncate (AKA experienced producer David Flores) continues to serve up heavyweight jams on his eponymous white-label series. A-side "Multiply" is a no-nonsense affair, with hissing and crashing cymbals, morse code style electronic beeps and crunchy drum machine handclaps rising above a thunderous peak-time techno groove. Over on side B, "Pseudo V2" sees Flores wrap European tech-house glitches and pulses around a hypnotic deep techno groove, while "Pseudo V3" offers a more psychdelic and mind-altering take on the same deep and bass-heavy groove, with twisted acid lines sprinting in and out of the mix at regular intervals.

Review: White label lover Truncate (AKA long-serving techno producer David Flores) is back with more "no frills hard grooves, crafted for the dancefloor". This time it's all about "Machine Jack", a track served in two distinct flavours of analogue-driven intensity. First up is "Machine Jack V1", where one-note stabs, Belgian hardcore "Hoover" noises and simple, mind-altering melodies slowly rise above a pounding techno groove. "Machine Jack V2" is equally as intense, with twisted, acid-style electronic motifs dancing above another ten-ton beat. In comparison, surprisingly tropical B-side "Missing" is rather laidback and melodious. It's still savage and floor-friendly, but boasts a rather cheery synthesizer melody and some blissful electronic touches throughout.

Review: Veteran Los Angeles producer Truncate returns on his eponymous imprint with four heavy duty techno tools loaded directly from the factory floor. 'The Drill' follows the same Blueprint of early '90s Birmingham industrial in the vein of Downwards and Dynamic Tension, while 'The Hammer' follows in suit but with the addition of Robert Hood's style of cyclicality: steely hi-hat workouts and claps on the kick. Turn over to side B and you have the pummelling, industrial strength pressure of 'The Closer' followed by the strobey 303-led stomp of the No Gabber mix.

Review: The second release on Lempuyang comes courtesy of Tomoki Tsukamoto. In the late 90s Tomoki put out releases on Gez Varley's G Records, i220, and of course ran his own Metrojuice Records imprint; putting out some of the most sought-after deep & dubby techno records under his alias W-Moon.
