Review: Lee Gamble's UIQ imprint is back with some painfully killer material! Martins Rokis aka N1L makes his debut with six slices of freaked-out electronics and vaporous industrialism, all wrapped up in a familiarly UIQ sort of flavor. There is little that one would consider 'normal' about this EP, and it's fair to say that nothing about it sounds stale of regurgitated. In fact, this is perhaps some of the weirdest, more far-out material that we've heard from the label, which is sort of another way to say to say that it's the oddest material on our carts this week. It ain't ambient, it's not mechanical enough to be techno, and it certainly doesn't fall under the 'bass' umbrella. What we do know is that it'll appeal to those wanting something completely different, and a range of tunes to make the crowd turn their head with disbelief. TIP!

Panter 777 (12")
Cat: MRX 030. Rel: 29 Sep 16
  1. Panter 777 (original) (4:43)
  2. Panter 777 (Jared Wilson remix) (5:54)
Review: Of Danny "Legowelt" Wolfers many alternative aliases, Nacho Patrol is the one that has consistently delivered the strongest material. It was initially launched some years back as an outlet for Wolfers' occasional, Afro-influenced Italo-disco and techno cuts, with 2011's The Africa Jet Band Album, and 2013's Cinnamon Funk particularly impressing. "Panter 777" is lifted from the Dutch producer's very first release under the name, appearing as a cassette only track on The Maze Of Violence (Il Labirinto Di Roma Violenta) issued by MinimalRome back in 2009. Given the 12" pressing it deserves as part of the label's MRX - Patiendum Est series. "Panter 777" remains a humid delight of the Nacho Patrol canon. It's dark, trippy and hallucinatory, with waves of droning synth work and bizarre, bubbly melody lines intertwining with Afro style wah-wah guitars and Detroit style chord progressions. Jared Wilson delivers a typically solid remix on the flip, but it is Wolfers' odd but brilliant original that really sparkles.

  1. Naked Eye People - "Short Distance" (5:59)
  2. Barrow Boy - "BTB" (Demo mix) (4:39)
  3. Bobby Durst - "Shape Shifting" (5:17)
  4. Mike Storm - "Dark Sight" (Sims JFF edit) (5:02)
Review: Having first surfaced last year with their first various artists release featuring the dearly departed Andreas Gehm, the Stealth Mission label is back with another four-strong salvo of no-nonsense acid, electro and techno. Naked Eye People kicks off proceedings with the punishing jacker "Short Distance" before Barrow Boy whips up a perfect slice of malevolent 303 mischief on "BTB (Demo Mix)". On the B side there's space for a little more reflection with the spacious pings of Bobby Durst's "Shape Shifting" before Mike Storm turns the heat back up on the delightfully unhinged "Dark Sight (Sims JFF Edit)".

  2. K'Alexi Shelby - "That Old Chicago" (Sims JFF edit)
  3. Scott Franka - "Francine" (Acid mix)
  4. Barrow Boy - "Shacid"
Review: Stealth Mission has a rugged, old skool approach to acid techno that makes it seriously potent material for those who like their parties dark and nasty. The likes of Andreas Gehm (RIP) and Mark Ambrose have appeared on the label before, and now there's a third selection of scuffed and scraped warehouse belters to feast your ears on. Naked Eye People are back once again with an understated breakbeat roll and a devilish 303 line on "Jungle Acid," while K'Alexi Shelby takes no prisoners on the brittle drum jacker "That Old Chicago." Scott Franka's "Francine" is a surprisingly emotive but no less gritty acid trip, and then Barrow Boy ramps up the intensity with squelchy techno beast "Shacid."

  1. Lekker (8:37)
  2. Momentos Magicos (10:33)
Review: Although Anthony Naples has a long and successful partnership with The Trilogy Tapes, Slice of Life is actually his first outing on the celebrated imprint for two years. Interestingly, it sees him move away from the dusty, off-kilter sound that he's most famous for, towards something altogether cleaner and more melodious. A-side "Lekker" is astonishingly positive, with sparkling electronic lead lines, starry synth solos, and electro polyrhythms all catching the ear. Epic flipside "Momentos Magicos" is almost as unashamedly loved-up. It's a four-to-the-floor roller, propelled forwards by a combination of darting, electrofunk style synth bass, cascading electronics, and cheery melody lines. Like the A-side, it feels pleasingly timeless.

  3. Love Me (8:31)
  4. Innamorato (4:12)
Review: Since rising to prominence thanks to his association with Jamal Moss's Mathematics Recordings imprint, Marcello Napoletano has delivered memorable material for the likes of Gravity Graffiti and Berceuse Heroique. Here, he pops up on long-running Italian deep house and broken beat imprint Neroli. The real killer is opener "Neroli Track", a formidable analogue jack-track built around clattering machine percussion, crazed synth bass and off-kilter electronics. That said, there's plenty of tried-and-tested dancefloor fodder elsewhere on the EP, from the breezy, left-of-centre piano house jam "Love Me", to the dense tribal intensity of humid closer "Innamorato".

  1. Marcello Napoletano presents Ra Toth and The Brigante's Orchestra - "Terra Arsa"
  2. Richeart - "Purple Grace"
Review: Gravity Graffiti is reborn from the unknown space with this explosive split EP. Two jazz-influenced gems by Marcello Napoletano and Richeart through the roots of rhythm! On the A side the third chapter of Ra Toth's saga, after Mathematics and Berceuse Heroique, with a diabolic trance dance. Flip side for a killing-edge banger by the emerging producer Richeart, a new definition of Acid Jazz. Let the spirit move you! Supported by Jamal Moss, Funkineven, Soichi Terada, Raybone Jones, John Swing and Robert Crash.

  3. The Springer (4:18)
  4. Revolution (Marcellus Pittman Sexual Pulse remix) (9:56)
Review: Bologna's NAS1 lands on his hometown's Sorry For This label, coming through with four magnificent house experiments that enter the scene from left of field. "Vino Cheenese" hardly boasts any beats except for a hazy blur of percussion, while "Ag Pini" sounds like a deep house cut that's been diluted in heavy amounts of aqueous FX, and "The Springer" comes in hard with a stomping blockade of harsh acid distortions. Surprise remix action from Detroit's mighty Marcellus Pittman features on the flip, with the veteran house solider dropping a remix of "Revolution", ending up with a convoluted house tune that manages to bring out the funk amid the darkness in its path. Recommended!

Review: Finale Sessions is excited about this reease and we are greatfull to bring you Natan H hailing fro the "City Of Angels" Natan has this energy that we at Finale Sessions as of late have not been able to find so as you know we are estatic to get this out to the masses and give you a little taste of what is going on out on the Left Coast and we start with the track "Lignes" with its melodic pads and its wavering synths make for a latenight beauty for sure then we move to track 2 which is " 0 (Phase)"This track is another latnight stomper with moving chords and melodic drum patterns that keep it a smooth sounding pieace, Then last but not least we have the song "Invariant" (Feat.Jordan) This dub techno track is floor filler for sure with its heavy laden pads and synths and its monsterous sounds one of my favorite tracks at the moment . Review: Guiseppe "Neel" Tillieci returns to Token following previous 2018 outings on Substrato and Tikita. The experienced producer and Voices From The Lake member is in full club-rocking mode here, laying down a series of dark, creepy and intense Italian techno workouts. The EP opens with "Afnio", where pulsating electronic motifs and ricocheting industrial chords ride a hypnotic groove, before Tillieci wraps trippy modular electronics around a buzzing, locked-in rhythm track on "Renio". Flipside opener "Osmio" is a deeper, hazier and more melancholic affair - think dusty field recordings, hypnotic drums and a simple, mind-alterng melody - while "Vanadiio" is a dark and rumbling deep techno treat.

Review: Sweltering, humid emotion permeates the gauzy atmosphere and rolling basslines on Neotnas' latest. The tracks here combine the artists' loves of junglism, 'ardcore, stoned ambience, and classic house.
Taken together, it's a batch of instantly nostalgic grooves and future / past chillout rave reimaginings.

Volume One (180 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: WARPED 001. Rel: 11 Dec 17
  1. Umea
  2. Operator
  3. Neptune
Review: Nereid appears out of the techno mists on the newly minted Warped Core label shrouded in mystery, with subtle monochrome head twisters to match. "Umea" leads the charge on the A side with an ethereal trip into dubby soundscapes filled out with plentiful reverb and pattering rhythms to snake straight into your cerebellum. "Operator" has an instructive bass throb carrying it along, although it imparts a similar steely aesthetic to the opening track. "Neptune" is no slouch either, using nagging mid-range percussion and eerie bleeps to spell out stern, functional techno of the deepest kind.

  1. Charon (7:13)
  2. Sonic Boundary (6:08)
  3. Alluvial Plains (6:53)
  4. Terminus (9:08)
Review: Nereid strip away the noise and focus on the music - an anonymous project by design on a self-manned label. This is faceless techno through and through, from the monochromatic artwork to the steely machinations of the music. It's far from a dry ride though - "Charon" leads the EP in confidently atop a snaking acid line that pulses between spacious percussion and some artfully placed atmospherics. "Sonic Boundary" is an exercise in spatial design, letting the reverbs bloom into an edgeless void for true transcendence, while "Alluvial Plains" boils the ingredients down to a minimal but motivated reduction. "Terminus" finishes the EP off on a nervous tryst with crooked rhythms and strafing acid lines swirling into an amorphous whole.

Cat: ACOLOUR 002. Rel: 13 Jun 16
  1. Glass Fist (reprise)
  2. Heads & Ordinary Concrete
Review: Moopie's A Colourful Storm label launched earlier this year as an extension of the popular online platform that has hosted a rich and diverse stream of mixes from the likes of Imaginary Softwoods, DJ Nobu, Frak and Rabih Beaini to name a few. Pro-tip: do check that latter live mix from the Morphine boss! It was the archival sounds of Denial and their lost Oz classic cover of "California Dreaming" that heralded the arrival of A Colourful Storm, but this second release on the label switches the focus to more contemporary fare. Power Relations is a two track 12" of bad-mannered, f*cked up club trax from Melbourne's Nerve. The stomping, nocturnal techno of the title track is backed with a Photek-meets-Sunn O))) terror stepper entitled "Heads & Ordinary Concrete". For fans of Regis, Emptyset and Blackest Ever Black.

  2. Claudio PRC - "Night Shift" (Luigi Tozzi remix) (7:16)
Review: The latest missive from Italy's The Gods Planet crew offers brand new takes on catalogue cuts from Ness and Claudio PRC. Alan Backdrop is the selected remixer on side A, serving up a restless and spooky take on "Psychotechnologies", which originally featured on Ness's 2017 album Trancemigration. Backdrop's brilliant version is built around a druggy, arpeggio style bassline, cymbal-heavy percussion and all manner of gently pulsating dark room chords and aural textures. On the flip, Luigi Tozzi gets busy with Claudio PRC's recent "Night Shift", adding a little more energy and some seriously mind-altering electronics to an otherwise deep and trippy techno workout.

  6. Heiko Laux - "Dark Fader" (4:25)
Review: Coming through with a steamrolling selection of techno tracks form the underbelly of Berlin's scene, it's the second chapter of the Klocksworks 20! Once again, newcomers and vintage favourites align on this collection of "perfectionist" techno; New debuts with the militant bass waves of "Dance Of The Warrior", while Holland's mighty Dax J turns in a violent wave of 90s reminiscent techno on "Late Night MIstress". The hyped-up ROD's "Extra" offers an unexpected wave of ambient delight, whereas Steve Rachmad aka Sterac returns with "Scientific Methods" in what is a shivering gunshot of industrial bleakness. Troy's "Flux", as the name suggests, hypnotises the dance floor with its heavy wash of drums and grey-scaled bass, leaving legend Heiko Laux to head for the dub wise flow on the masterfully deranged and distorted waves of "Dark Fader".
