Overthrown (12" + insert in hand-stamped sleeve)
Cat: LTWHT 008. Rel: 08 Sep 16
  1. Never (5:51)
  2. Stateless (5:10)
  3. Track 3 (5:30)
Review: Somewhat surprisingly, it's been two years since Imre Kiss's most recent outing on Lobster Theremin, the fine Raw Energy EP. This belated follow-up - his first 12" single since - is every bit as essential. Perhaps the most striking track is "Never", a fizzing but spaced-out techno excursion that makes great use of tumbling sub-bass and dreamy, ambient style chords. That said, the slower and even more bass-heavy curiosity that is "Stateless" - mutant broken techno fused with ultra-deep house - is almost as good, while bold, bumpin' B-side "Track 3" is the EP's most straightforward dancefloor moment.

Machine A Laver (limited hand-numbered electric blue clear vinyl 12")
Cat: MW 049. Rel: 26 Nov 13
  1. Machine A Laver
  2. Ultrabase
Review: Lyon group In Aeternam Vale have been a long term fixture in the Minimal Wave release schedule, commencing with a self-titled compilation back in 2009 which has latterly been complemented by a further LP and several 12?s that have revealed band leader Laurent Prot to be a master of extended electronic productions that sound very much ahead of their time. This is demonstrated once more on Machine a Laver 12 which features two unreleased gems excavated from Prot's sizeable archives. Attentive followers of Minimal Wave manoeuvres will no doubt recognise the "12 minutes of pure electronic hypnotica" that is the title track from Vasicka's recent guest mix for Benji B. It's complemented by the equally long form "Ultrabase," a dub techno composition originating from 1990 which feels just as revelatory as the extended edition of "Highway Dark Veins" released on Minimal Wave last year. Wonderfully presented as always, the two tracks have been pressed on the most electric blue of heavyweight clear vinyl by Minimal Wave.

Cat: LINDA 001. Rel: 14 Jul 15
  1. Self Destruct (10:15)
  2. Non (5:11)
  3. Inside (3:18)
Review: Since 1984, Laurent Prot has been putting out music as In Aeternam Vale, a project which has given us some of the best experimental beat music, the finest in darkwave and paved the way for many contemporary artists to do their thing. Although Prot had long periods of hiatus, the last five years have seen renewed interest in his work thanks to the efforts of Veronica Vasicka whose Minimal Wave label has issued several outstanding In Aeternam Vale retrospectives. Following his excellent Jealous God release, Prot now appears on the newly formed Linda Records with a devilish 10" containing three tracks that sounds as fresh and captivating as any of the music made by twenty-something year-olds now. "Self-Destruct" is an electrifying techno driver riding at a slow pace; "Non" ups the speed and drops in a heavy layer of pseudo-acid to the equation; "Inside" ties things off with a cavernous swarm of drones, sounding like the inside of a jet engine. DO NOT SLEEP.

Je Ai Dissous (limited 160 gram coloured vinyl 12" gloss printed sleeve)
Cat: MW 063. Rel: 15 Nov 16
  1. Je Ai Dissous (6:34)
  2. Je Ai Dissous (Page R version) (7:37)
  3. Tendencia (About Blank version) (5:40)
  4. Tendencia (v6) (6:13)
Review: Fresh from releasing the superb Pink Flamingos album on Dement3d, In Aternam Vale returns to Minimal Wave. This time round, he's not alone. Each of the tracks features the breathy, stylish vocals of Madrid-based Belarusian, Anneq. Her sleazy, whispered refrain is the headline attraction on the throbbing, industrial pop-meets-techno hustle of "Je Ai Dissous", while she also chats seductively over the undulating arpeggio lines, restless drums and dystopian atmospheres of "Tendencia (About Blank Version"). The ambient-leaning "V6" take of that cut is also hugely inspiring, while the Page R version of "Je Ai Dissous" is a dark, atmospheric and intoxicating celebration of legendary '80s "computer musical instrument", the Fairlight CMI.

Storm/Subway Route (hand-stamped 12")
Cat: X/DSR 6. Rel: 04 Jun 14
  1. Storm
  2. Subway Route (with Pluto)
Review: Delsin wind the clock back to early 90s UK techno and deliver a much needed reissue of two classic In Sync productions from Lee Purkis. Widely regarded as one of the most important figures in the UK for helping to promote the sounds of techno, "Storm" remains one of his most timeless productions and sounds just as futuristic some 23 years on from it's original release on the Irdial Discs label in 1992. Much the same can be said of "Subway Route", an epic 17 minute journey through outer galactic hi tech futurism. Fully licensed by Delsin from Irdial, both "Storm" and "Subway Route" have been transferred from the original master reel-to-reel tape and represents another archival coup for the Dutch label.

Analog Planet (180 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: SW 121. Rel: 09 Oct 17
  1. Analog Planet
  2. Multiple Walls
  3. Orbit X
Review: Ricardo Rodrigues hasn't been active as Industrialyzer for some years, but if there was ever an occasion to revisit the uncompromising techno alias, a release on Damon Wild's legendary Synewave label must surely be it. The Portuguese artist goes in on "Analog Planet" with fearsome intent, serving up that Robert Hood-flavoured mechanized, weaponised loop goodness that gets the business end of the night shaking the way it should. "Multiple Walls" is a funkier affair with a playful organ line, but then it's back to the darkside with the devilish "Orbit X", rounding out an EP of no-nonsense techno like momma used to make.

Infiltrate (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: INFILTRATE 01. Rel: 12 Feb 18
  1. Chaos (6:44)
  2. Conspiracy (6:43)
  3. Excursion (7:26)
  4. Infiltrate (5:44)
Review: Everything is brand spanking new on the Infiltrate debut release, which finds James Infiltrate laying out an impressive selection of electro belters for all the robots out there. "Chaos" is a snappy jam that keeps the beats taut and nimble, the bass punchy and energetic and the atmosphere detailed and sci fi, just how good electro should be. There's more of a 4/4 thrust to "Conspiracy" while "Excursion" takes things a bit deeper with swirling melodic content drifting behind the minimal but motoring rhythm section. "Infiltrate" gets into a more classic kind of electro mode, keeping the bass moody and the beat snappy, for a heads down work out par excellence.

Cat: C 003. Rel: 26 Mar 18
  1. Wirikuta

  3. Maxa
  4. Wirikuta (Dreems remix)
Review: A lot of Inigo Vontier's early material was confined to the digital realm, but now the Mexican DJ and producer is starting to get recognition on wax for his heady brew of old methods and a taste for the freakier end of the party spectrum. This 12" for Mexican label Calypso leads in with the strangely unsettling but strident "Wirikuta," before the snappy surge of tightly wound tech variation "Marakame" comes leaping into ear shot. "Maxa" marks out its own unique space with a heavy broken beat excursion, leaving it to Dreems to ruminate on "Wirikuta" for a closing remix.

Review: Instinct's "Just A Feeling" is the pure embodiment of an early 90s Detroit techno record. Originally released in 1992 on Instinct's Decisive Records , not many copies managed to get outside of the city of Detroit. Within the melodic strings, 808s, and loosely swung samples - you can feel the spirit of these early days and of this young producer finding his sound. Meticulously remastered by Josh Bonati from the master tapes for this 2018 issue.

Review: Prism Industrial Complex affiliate Intimacy delivers a quad of raw, physical house and jungle across two sides: the title track stands out with its Reinforced / Ibiza Records style jungle hedonism, "Memory Card" is a hurricane of atmospheres anchored by a bubblesome acid line while "Grid Projector" shimmers with dubby synths but maintains focus and edge with it industrial rhythmic elements. Muscular whistle-peppered warehouse brings the finale fire via "Decisions In Life". The (crisis) force is strong on this one.

  1. Collage (3:25)
  2. Never Release The Tension (5:44)
  3. Ten Years (10:06)
Review: Whatever Makes You Feel Safe is a collaboration between Canadian producer and singer Marie Davidson and Berlin based Ukrainian sound designer Invisible Church. They met in Montreal during Red Bull Music Academy festival and shared the idea of exploring the concept of feeling safe both on a personal level and as a part of society. Quite different from what you'd usually associate with Davidson but still worthy of your attention all the same. Beginning on the A side with "Collage" featuring some chilling drone experiments over textural sound design and field recordings which allow Davidson's haunting vocals to carry the track further into the void. Sounds like a cross between OAKE and Lustmord. Next up "Never Release The Tension" delves further into pitch black territory on this contorted downbeat industrial thriller. Finally on the flip, we've got an epic 10 minutes of haunting esoterica in the form of "Ten Years" and features Theo Parrish on cymbals! The label recommends it as for fans the late Mika Vainio, Black Rain, CTI, and the Bladerunner OST. Pretty on point, if we do say so ourselves!

Through a combination of name, artwork and musical output, Animals On Psychedelics focuses on the more tripped out, spacey side of electronic music.
