Wave twister/distortion module - black, 10HP
Notes: The V-Shape is two modules in one, a wave twister and a distortion/wavefolding module. Both sections of the module are all analogue in design, and both can be used independently, or they can be normalised together in series, so that a waveform can be twisted first and then distorted and wavefolded.

The wave twister can take (for example) a saw tooth waveform as an input and shape it, under manual or external voltage control, through to being a triangle waveform and on to being a ramp waveform, and produces a sound similar to PWM for sawtooths. It will also work with symmetrical waveforms such as triangle and sine waves, again producing PWM like tones.

It can produce a wave twisting effect from most waveforms (with the exception of square waves), whether they are symmetrical or asymmetric. Under many conditions the transfer function is not perfect, so different harmonics may be generated too. The offset control allows a bias to be added to the incoming waveform, either to bias it correctly around zero or offset it for more distortion and harmonics.

The second part of the V-Shape module is a distortion unit, with selectable Soft or Hard Clipping, and the clipping amount can be varied either by a front panel control or an external control voltage with the "Distort" control. The distortion offset control adds or subtracts a bias voltage to the CV signal, to give an extended range of control. Mr Hyde is the first in a new series of 'synthBlocks'. These are small table top effects processor, and later synthesisers and sequencers. Designed by renowned UK synth designers Analogue Solutions who have over 24 years in the industry.

Mr Hyde is an analogue filter effects box use for subtle to extreme filtering and modulation effects.

SynthBlocks are used to process any sound that you feed into it from your DAW, Mixer or some musical instrument (with prior pre-amplification where necessary). To give your plug-ins some real analogue hardware life.

Mr Hyde has 1/4" input and output jacks on the rear, so it can be connector straight to a mixer or DAW audio interface without the need for adaptors.

8 step analogue sequencer with both CV & Gate out - 18HP
Notes: The SQ8 is a single channel sequencer with 8 steps. As it is single channel, larger sequencing systems can be built up by doubling up on sequencers. As they are all separate, you can clock them at different speeds or clock divide ratios.

Controls In Detail (standard operation):

Clock In:
The SQ8 requires a +5V clock signal. Each clock signal will advance the sequencer 1 step. When the last step is reached, it resets back to the first step. Take the clock signal from a square wave LFO, Clock module or MIDI to Clock converter.

Clock Thru:
The clock signal appearing at the CLOCK IN socket is buffered and transferred to the CLOCK THRU socket, so it can be daisy chained to another sequencer.

Reset In:
A 5V signal in here will reset the sequencer to step 1.

Step 1 Out:
Each time step one is played, the step 1 gate socket will go high (output +5V). This socket can be used to trigger other devices, such as a cymbal sound at the start of each bar, or to trigger another sequencer. The step 1 out will give a clock signal that is the main clock in divided by out.

CV Out:
This socket will output a control voltage set by the pot for the current step. It can be changed in real time.

Gate Out:
This socket will output a 5V gate when the CV control is pulled out.

Step Button:
This allows the sequencer to be manually stepped by one step at a time whilst the clock is not running. It can also be used to reset the sequence. As with most analogue sequencers, step it to the last step (8 or whatever is patched) so that when you start the clock, the sequencer starts on position 1.

Note: The step button will only work when any clock input signal is at a low state (0V). So it will note work when the clock input is high. This situation will note arise in normal use, as one would only normally use the step button when the master clock is stopped (making the clock signal low). If the sequencer is being clocked by a clock divider, even when the clock is stopped, it is possible that the clock signal may still be high until reset.

CV/Gate pots/Range switch:
The CV and Gate functions are built into a single combined pot/switch. The switch is a push/pull type. Pulling the control out turns off the gate.

There are 8 CV pots, 1 for each step. When the range switch is HI the range is approximately 0 to 8.6V, when LOW the range is approximately 0-4.3V. LOW is best for use when controlling a VCO as this gives better ability to fine tune each step.

The CV pots have a built in Gate switch. Pull the knob out to turn off the gate for that step, push it in to turn the gate on.

LED Indicators:
There are 8 LED's. These will light in turn to show step position.

Analogue Oscillator:
The VCO is very analogue and uses discrete components and op-amps. One oscillator, yet still sounds big - using PWM and Sub Osc creates a full warm and deep sound.

Analogue Low Frequency Oscillator:
The LFO has triangle and square wave modulation signals.

Analogue Filter:
Treadstone uses a four pole 24bB per octave multimode filter. The filter is a re-issue of the classic SSM2044, as used in many classic synths such as the Korg Poly 6, Monopoly, Emulator, SP1200.

Analogue Mixer:
Audio signals such as the VCO, Noise, external audio are all routed to the VCF via an analogue mixer.

Analogue Amplifier:
The VCA can be set so it is always 'open'. This allows Treadstone to be used as an effects processor.

Analogue Envelope:
The EG features ATTACK, SUSTAIN, and combined DECAY/RELEASE. It's not really true to say it is an ASR envelope, it really is an ADSR - Decay and Release are both controlled by the same control. Saving space with little compromise in flexibility. It's possible to drone or auto-repeat the envelope also.

Modulation:
Great thought has been placed into modulation route choices, allowing a wide range of sounds to be produced, including percussion and 'modular' style sounds.

Fuzz module featuring three voltage-controllable parameters - 12HP
Notes: The Baron Samedi circuit produces all sorts of extreme fuzz sounds with a fundamentally gated nature. It's easy to think of the pedal as a supernatural harmonic generator of sorts - with a fuzz sound that goes from tame to obnoxious and a row of three extremely interactive knobs, it's easy to dial in a wide range of broken speaker, AM radio, sub-oscillating and scooped mid sounds - and everything in between.

The heart of this module is the same as that of the pedal, so you can nail all the sounds the pedal has to offer. The attenuverter-equipped CV inputs are designed to drag your yet-pristine synth signals into a chaotic, loud and vulgar afterlife.

With modifications that allow it to be used with modular level signals, the Baron Samedi module can act like a waveshaper or a saturator - but add CV and all bets are off. The LIFE CV deepens or flattens the notch of the tone control, the DEATH CV adds PWM-like textural manipulation, going from very quiet to very loud in the process, and the BURIAL CV acts as a gate of sorts. Some extremely unique, somewhat ring modulation-like sounds can be had when feeding audio-range signals into the DEATH and BURIAL CV inputs. It goes without saying that there is a lot of merit in running CV into all three inputs simultaneously for maximum sonic mayhem.

The module would not be complete without a dry/wet blend knob, useful both as a performance tool and to fine tune the amount of textural distortion desired.

Overdrive/distortion module
Notes: Full-blooded distortion - Pit Viper is a solid state overdrive for hard-boiled musicians. The circuit can generate clean, beefy signal boosts. However, its true strengths lie in aggressively screaming distortions with a tangible character.

Pit Viper comes equipped with the following control elements:

- Toxicity: Gain potentiometer - Please turn up for heavy distortion.
- Hiss: Tone knob - Turn clockwise to cut the treble.
- Venom: Volume potentiometer
- Fear: Three-stage soft clipping switch - Activates normal soft clipping or a more tube-like version with less treble.
- Malice: Three-stage hard clipping switch - Activates beefy hard clipping or a spongier version with less treble.
- Blend: Dry / Wet potentiometer
- Bite: CV input plus attenuator to cut the high frequency range. Without a cable plugged in, the knob can be used for adjusting the treble manually.
- Saturation: CV input plus attenuator and on/off switch to influence gain and saturation.
- Filter: CV input plus attenuator and on/off switch to control the Viper's VCF circuit.

Via a jumper on the circuit board, users can choose between several filter types:

- Passive clipped low pass
- Unbuffered high pass
- Buffered high pass
- Buffered low pass

Furthermore, there is a trim potentiometer on the circuit board, which can be used to adjust the gain.

Notes: ABC is a simple 6 channel signal mixer. It has 6 inputs - A,B,C,D,E and F - and two outputs - A+B+C - which is mixed in to the D+E+F output if nothing is inserted in the A+B+C jack. ABC is designed to mix audio signals, but can be modified to mix CV signals instead. There are 6 solder jumpers on the back side, which can be connected to turn the abc mix into a CV mixer.

Notes: SOLENOID can drive 4 solenoid motors with voltage directly from the power supply. Motor driving circuitry and CV input circuitry are optically isolated without any ground connection. Requires external power supply for driving motors.

Output pulse width a knob optimizes the trigger signals to be sufficient to deliver adequate signal for the solenoids. With shorter pulses, solenoids don't move in their full range, or move with less power. This can also be used for adjusting the dynamics.

Notes: The Synapsis is a 4x4 pushbutton matrix that offers performative control of the Bit Ranger.

There are 8 patch points connected to 4 rows (ABCD) and 4 columns (1234) of buttons. Pressing button A1 connects point A to point 1. A2 connects A to 2. B2 connects B to 2 and so on.

Package includes:

- The Synapsis
- 10 short + 10 long jumper wires
- Hex key

Using the Synapsis:

It is best used by dedicating rows to outputs (like divider or mix bits) and columns to inputs (like the byte section or inhibit points). In this configuration every possible combination of buttons will connect outputs to inputs and cause a change in the behaviour of the BitRanger. As always it is best to experiment and try new things.

Installing the Synapsis:

- Remove the screws from the bottom of the bit ranger and then remove the bottom plate.
- Remove the small section of plastic from the front edge of the face plate and place it somewhere safe. In newer models there is a slot in the middle of the bottom opening where the mini plate can be placed for storage.
- Screw the bottom plate back onto the BitRanger.
- Slide the Synapsis into the opening in the front.
- Place screws through the holes in the front of the bottom plate to secure Synapsis in place.

Flexible dual waveform module - 7HP
Notes: Timber is very flexible wave shaping module that can produce rich timbres by adding harmonics to simple waveforms (triangles and sinewaves) or any other signal. It has 2 different unique wave shaping circuits - I. - the WAVE DRIVER and II. -the WAVE FOLDER and voltage-controlled crossfader to fade between the different circuits or between one of them and the clean input signal.

Both circuits share the same control voltages: the SHAPE which sets the input amplification before the wave shaping circuit and the SYMMETRY control which adds voltage offset to the input signal to provide various asymmetric overdrives or wave folding sounds. There is also voltage FBK CV jack which when provided with positive voltages feeds respective portion of the output signal back to the input which results in chaotic and aggressive behaviours. It is calibrated to work well with 5V gate voltages.

I. the WAVE DRIVER is an overdrive circuit with one folding stage and it has 2 configuration 3-way switches (9 different configurations). The drive switch can set the overdrive character to SOFT or HARD or something in between. The FOLD switch can set the folding threshold to HI or LO or it can turn the folding stage off in the NO position.

II. the WAVE FOLDER is a novel take on the serge style wavefolding circuit which has specific behaviour to abuse the high gain of the input amplification stage to provide rich high frequency timbres with higher settings of the SHAPE parameter. It has a configuration switch which can either activate clean 4 stage wavefolding in the OK position or highly asymmetric folding stage in the KO position that provides strange metallic character. The NO position provides only the very last overdrive-folding stage.

Two-channel wavefolder - 8HP
Notes: Chopping kinky is a voltage controllable, dual channel Wavefolder.

A wavefolder converts simple signals into richer and more dynamically changing ones. In contrast to a filter, wavefolding adds harmonic content to the waveform. It works by amplifying the waveform until it begins to saturate, then rather than clipping, the waveform gets folded back in on itself.

Each of the module's two channels has a unique wavefolding profile. At each input there are two CV inputs for controlling the level of waveshaping including one that passes through an attenuverter.

The CHOPPING KINKY is DC coupled allowing it to be used for both CV and audio duties; to generate harmonics on an audio signal or kinking LFOs and envelopes.

Notes: Hex mix VCA is a compact six channel VCA with an unique response curve range from logarythmic to linear and to exponential using a pot.

All outputs are routed to output six to act as a mixer, with a normalization of each one to remove each VCA from the Mix.

Hexmix VCA can act as six independent VCAs as well as a Mixer for all the inputs (Selectable via a switch). Featuring an internal connection to interface with our Hexmix system.

Every VCA has a response pot for the incoming CV, being full logarythmic at maximum setup and full exponentiall at minimum setup, having the linear response in the centre position.

The pot provides the full range of responses to adecuante to our prefered application, such as percusive sounds or panning effects.

Level pot of each channel is an attenuator of the signal coming out of each VCA.

Jacks are normalled to 10 volts, so when we have no CV present VCA would be fully open and our Level pot will act as a volume.

6-channel performance mixer with three band EQ, mute & pan - 28HP
Notes: Hexmix System is a six channel performance mixer specially designed for Eurorack.

The system has two separate modules, the core of the mixer: Hexmix that has six channels with three band EQ, mute, pan and EQ section on the master, and Hexpander that add three auxiliar sends per channel, PFL, individual outs and balanced output.

The mixer has a strong inspiration in classical DJ mixers, providing sharp EQ's for enhanced performance, auxilliar send for effects and individual outputs to record your performance per channel.

The unique Mute Section is a powerful tool for performances, providing a momentary mute function controlled by vactrols and adding a smooth release to the signal decay.

The system is designed to be placed in 6U, instead of the traditional 3U paradigm in Eurorack. So we will have every feature for each channel vertically as a conventional tabletop mixing deck.

This is a six channels mixer with three band EQ, vactrol mutes, pan and volume control per channel.

Inputs for every channel are located at left side of Hexmix. Each jack is normalized to a VCA Expander connection in the back, so if you have a Hexmix VCA, you will have the output of each VCA to every input. connecting a jack in any input will disconnect whatever is coming from VCA.

Each Channel Strip is divided in four basic sections, that will go in the following order: Gain, Mute, EQ and Pan.

Gain is set to unity, so it will act as an attenuator of the input signal. Mutes are clickless, as they are vactrol based. This circuit provide some decay on the mutes, rather than a sharp cut.

Switches have latch position and momentary ones to unmute the channel, providing some really nice performative capabilities.

EQs are quite sharp (12dB) inspired in classic DJ mixers to aggressively cut selected frequencies.

Master section has its own EQ and volume control for the mix of all channels. Master EQ is software than individual channel's (6dB) and it's meant to provide control over the final mix.

It's possible to change output level from line to synth with a switch located in the back.

This will be pretty useful when used in combination with Hexpander, that provides a balanced out at line level. Like this it's possible to have a mix at synth level to re-route the master signal while having an output to PA.

Expander module for the Befaco Hex Mix
Notes: Hexpander adds great functionality to Hexmix module. Featuring Three aux send with stereo returns, individual outputs for each channel, complete PFL system and balanced output.

Hexpander is designed to be placed on top of Hexmix. Expanding Eurorack concept to 6u, allows every channel to be aligned as in traditional tabletop mixers.

Auxiliar sends:
For every channel you have three auxiliar sends. One pot will measure the amount of signal sent to each of them.

Every auxiliar send has a volume pot, that will measure the level of the signal sent. There are two jacks available so it is possible to send the signal both pre or post fader/EQ at the same time, allowing to patch externally depending if its desired to have the original signal, or the signal after being EQ'ed on the effect.

Returns are stereo, having a switch to select if the signal is coming from synth or line level. Like this, levels can be set, for example, either for a guitar pedal or a FX module at synth level.

Monitor section:
Hexpander features a complete PFL system, to send channels to the headphones before you add them to main mix.

Flip PFL switch to send that channel to the headphones out.

With PFL/Master Pot you can do a crossfade between the master signal and every channel sent to PFL. Headphones out will control headphones volume.

Level meter will show the level of the sum of all active PFLs. When there is no PFL active, it will show master level.

Output section:
Every channel has individual 6,5? jacks out at line level. Here you have the signal of every channel post EQ.

As an addition, you have master balanced output.

Instrument/signal processor module - 11HP
Notes: There may come a time when you want to marry the rest of your rig with your Eurorack system. The Instrument Interface (I2) is designed to take a wide range of signals and transform them into a set of useful Eurorack compatible voltage levels.

The module uses an envelope follower circuit to achieve direct control of the amplitude of any incoming signal, producing a control voltage proportional to its amplitude. This allows a real and direct communication between external sound sources and Eurorack systems.

The Instrument interface module has the following functional blocks:

Preamp:
With two audio inputs (6.5mm jack and Mini-jack), amplification of the input signal is controlled by the "Gain" pot.

The minimum signal required to generate the maximum envelope is 200mV peak and allows up to 5v input.

BPF:
The signal will then pass thru a band pass filter with cut-off frequency and bandwidth control via "Freq" and "Width" pots. This will set the frequency range of our control signal.

After this stage the signal can be accessed at synth level via "Audio Out".

Env. Follower:
After filtering the signal it will feed into the "Response" stage which determines the envelope follower's response velocity. It features a "High", "Medium" and "Low" selector switch to achieve the optimal envelope for different kind of signals. "Follo Out" will output the extracted envelope and has a level indicator LED. Green: Medium level; Orange: High level; and Red: Max. Level.

Env. Regenerator:
"Rege Out" is a regenerated envelope that allows independent control of the rise part of the envelope with the "Attack" knob, and the fall part with the "Decay" knob.

The Envelope Regenerator also features an LED indicator for the regenerated envelope level. Green: Medium level, Orange: High level, Red: Max. Level.

Trig. Extractor:
With the "Threshold" pot we can control the level of a comparator that determines when "Gate Out" and "Trigg Out" outputs will be activated.

"Gate Out" is active while the envelope is over the threshold we set, while "Trigg Out" is activated just when the threshold is passed.

Indicator LEDS show when the outputs are active.

Dual complex function generator
Notes: The Rampage is Befaco's approach to an old invention: the Serge/Buchla ramp generator.

Befaco took the idea of a "patch programmable" function generator/processor, put two units in the same module and expanded them with new functions and ways to combine them: Slope detectors, analogue logic functions and evolved outputs.

The module is built around two voltage controlled integrators. Integrators (also known as Lag Processors or Slew limiters) allow you to process your voltages, converting sharp square waves in ramp-like waveforms.

All inputs and outputs accept balanced XLR as well as balanced and unbalanced 1/4" connections. Both the 1/4" and XLR outputs can be used in parallel, when two outputs are required.

The SU9920 boasts stellar frequency response from 25Hz to 50KHz. The Process control provides a boost of up to +12 dBu at 5 kHz. The Low Contour filter is capable of +12 dBu at 50 Hz.

Multi-purpose synth module in Eurorack format
Notes: The Power Midi is a multipurpose module designed for small Eurorack systems. It contains a MIDI-CV interface and a power supply. In detail, MIDI data can be fed to the circuit using a DIN / mini jack adapter. On the output side, there are connectors for pitch, modulation, velocity and gate signals. The power componentry is fed by an USB power supply. A Flying Bus Board is used to serve other modules with electricity.

The Power Midi employs converters with 16 Bit resolution to generate control voltages. An adapter from DIN to mini jack is included with the module.

The power supply delivers up to 400 mA at +12 V and 300 mA at -12 V.

The manufacturer recommends to use a USB power supply with at least 2 A to operate the module.

ATTENTION: Before you connect the Power Midi to the USB port of a computer, it is very important to check its specifications!
