Review: Detroit/Houston joint venture Kolour are back with another instalment in the Tale Of Two Cities series - and this is one serious all star cast if we've ever seen it! The creme de la creme of nu-disco appears here, starting with crazy Canadian Eddie C kicking off the A side with the sunny slo-mo antics of "All Time Freak", followed by the one and only Napoleon! Simon Mills throws down some more of his usual sexy and lo-slung grooves on "Over & Done". On the flip, current scene favourite - the Whiskey Disco boss Sleazy McQueen teams up with Vinyl Addicted on a seriously hot edit of an underground classic (to those that know) on "Hot To Trot" while Lyon's Patchworks hands in another similarly 'respectful edit' on the sultry late night blues of "Batracien". That is who goes first on the guitar licked, Americana tinged, disco dripped "Hipos" which is a perfect tune for gazing off at a distant sunset as you sway to and fro on an outdoor dance floor. Eddie C's "Crazy Heart" chugs a it harder, with busy melodic phrases riding up and down the scale over chunky drums. Review: Our man from Banff Eddie C makes a welcome return to the Endless Flight imprint that's been the conduit for so much of the Canadian producer's finely judged disco escapades over the years. Commencing with "Tunnel Mountain", Mr Currelly is on epic form, expertly teasing out a simmering and emotion drenched melodic refrain over a woozy mid tempo structure that intermittently jacks with real energy. Alongside it "Banff Butt" sounds like rough Chicago house slowed down to an opiated pace, while flipside opener "Iceline" is a typically sumptuous gallop through thick layers of textured beatdown. Finally "Descent" mainlines intermittent twilight boogie vibes through the stripped back groove.

Review: That man from Banff Eddie C is lining up to release his second album, and second for Endless Flight, later this year and on the basis of this two track sampler Country City Country should be classed under corker! The Canadian leads with the sublimely cheeky "La Palette", a production where Brazil meets Chicago on the dancefloor as slick samba tinged percussion and a wonderfully drunken lead Rhodes keyboard line get busy over a rippling 808 groove. Complementing this, Eddie C goes eyes down on the drum funk beat down of "It Goes Free" which discards with any notion of slinky melody in favour of some good old jacking house rhythms and chaotic orchestral samples. Review: KZA's ever dependable Let's Get Lost label welcomes Endless Flight regular and recent Berlin transplant Eddie C into the fold for a full release after the boy from Banff recently shared a side with the label boss on LGL No 15. Any worries that a move to Europe's techno mecca might have engendered a musical swerve to a Berghain friendly sound will be allayed when you hear what's on offer with these two tracks, plucked from the enviable collection of Mr C and tweaked for your dancing pleasure. Both untitled, the A Side is an oddly endearing Balearic number with off kilter handclaps and a big grooving bass line, but the disco lovers will head straight for the flip. A superbly masked edit of a Patrick Adams classic, the way Eddie C slowly reveals that classic string refrain is pure joy!

Review: This fifth release by the increasingly impressive Wolf Music imprint is dedicated to a duo whose star is definitely on the rise. PBR Streetgang consists of Tom Thrope and Bonar Bradbery, whose names will be familiar to fans of Illija Rudman's Red Music imprint and Mindless Boogie. Opening track "Silas" builds from a slap bass loop into a fat and dirty disco house groover replete with synth wigouts. The PBR Streetgang refix of Eddie C's "Your Woman" is up next, with the duo tweaking out proceedings some three minutes before the vocal hook drops - some killer shuffling percussive edits on this one. On the flip side you get "Funny Money" a swaggering uptempo boogie bomb that takes its percussive cue from Boney M's "Sunny" and adds a shedload of bass stabs, guitar licks and funk grunts. UK duo Soft Rocks round things off nicely with a remix of "Funny Money" which goes for the jacking house approach.

Review: It's not rocket science to expect great things from Eddie C's debut on the Hometaping imprint - top label, top producer. "Tell Me" is driven by the core vocal sample which is wrapped in layer upon layer of typically intricate production. Crisp 808 syncopation drops in and out, string arrangements sit deep in the mix and the warmest of basslines running throughout gives the track that extra impetus. Tornado Wallace is employed to remix the track and adds a sheen of hissing Detroit deepness to proceedings, with late night synth lines and soaring chords floating atop the cavernous bass patterns of a slightly slower but just as impressive version. Special praise however is reserved for "Organised", the track that separates the aforementioned. A brilliantly sweaty organ riff is central to this jacking bit of warehouse fodder, with vocal samples and crowd noises cut up and slipped into the spaces between the pounding beat and throbbing bassline.

Review: "Do It Yourself" sees Endless Flight offer us and you an opportunity of what to expect from Parts Unknown, Eddie C's forthcoming debut album. The overriding sensation after listening will no doubt be an increase in anticipation! As with the Canadian producer's previous output, the three tracks present ably demonstrate Mr Curelly's almost nonchalant ease for crafting intricately layered disco bumps of varying tempos which are characterised by an inherent live sound. This is most apparent on "Do It Yourself", which is based around a naggingly familiar Philly disco track which never fully reveals itself thanks to the excellence of how Curelly implements it amidst the rasping groove. The tempo drops for "Pains Inside" which gradually unfurls from a bottom heavy groove into a saunter through late night melancholics that's held together by a fragile vocal loop. The sampler ends of a high with the gently undulating electric boogaloo acidisco of "Dub Me Gwen".

Review: Upfront copies of new Eddie C jams on the excellent Japanese label Sound Of Speed! There's always an undeniable class to any track the prolific Canadian producer puts his name to and that standard is definitely maintained on this sumptuous EP. "Migration" demonstrates the C Meister's ease at chopping samples, dicing up a string heavy soul track to fit the bumping mid tempo beat, whilst "Keepin On" is all mellow, closer to a butter hip-hop instro than disco! On the flip, "Give It To Me" jumps to a more familiar tempo marrying a infectious guitar led groove augmented by husky female vocals to a taut beat with plenty of drops into heavy filtered bass. The final moments are dedicated to the Rhodes heavy slo vibes of "Days Like These". Killer 12".

Review: Craft Music's taste in sizzling hot party music is absolutely confirmed as razor sharp with this third instalment of edits and re-rubs with a twist. Far from vanilla re-arrangements, these re-versions get fruity with the source material and on Good For Dance there's a particular emphasis on acid. First up Scruscru & Aman Po-Kaifu get right down and dirty with Nigerian classic 'Salem' by The Funkees, whipping up a veritable storm with 'Acid Salam'. Review: Heralding brighter days is surely the job of Is It Balearic?, a label whose entire raison d'etre is silky smooth sounds for long days spent sipping cocktails on sunkissed terraces. This time around, Max Essa and Eddie C have gone head to head, with the former delivering the original tunes and the latter dropping the remixes. Essa gets into full-spectrum deep house for the baggy crowd on 'Jigsaw Moon', which Eddie C promptly pitch shifts and rubs down with some understated acid. Review: A warm welcome back to everyone's favourite Berlin-based Canadian, exiled Ontarian Eddie C. He's in full-on, glassy-eyed Balearic disco mode on the A-side of this fine 45, his first of 2021. 'Believe in Love' is as luscious and warming as you'd expect, with the producer cannily combining sumptupus disco loops and pitched-up female vocal snippets with locked-in mid-tempo house beats and occasional energy-raising sample cut-ups. Review: Lovedancing's latest missive is something of an all-star affair, with Canadian hero Eddie C and Whiskey Disco boss Sleazy McQueen contributing tracks alongside Colombian producer Felipe Gordon and fast-rising scalpel fiend Vagabundo Club Social. The latter joins forces with Gordon for the deep house/deep Latin disco fusion of "Basilio" - all jammed-out Rhodes riffs, heavily percussive grooves and chanted vocals - which is in turn re-imagined as a horn-heavy Latin disco-funk workout by Eddie Stomp. The Vagabundo returns to action alongside regular studio partner Sleazy Mcqueen on B-side opener "Chips Y Salsoul" - warm and deep disco-house vibes with added trumpet solo action - before Eddie C rounds things off with the shuffling, string-laden disco-house loveliness of "Be There".

Review: More headnod gold from everyone's favourite midnight rider Eddie C. "Space Glide" chugs away marvellously at around 92BPM with a bassline so wet and slimy it should come with its own 18 certificate. "Werewolf Invasion" maintains the hypnotic slo-mo momentum but added late night graveyard feels thanks to a grainy cosmicity and strange unworldly textures. Don't sleep.

Review: For the fourth volume in the consistently impressive Barefoot Beats series, the Brazilian crew behind the imprint has offered a label debut to Canadian scalpel fiend Eddie C. His "Salve a Bahia" is a softly spun, sun-kissed delight; a slightly tooled up re-edit of a lesser-known Brazilian gem, full of jangly acoustic guitars, delay-laden choral vocals, bubbly electronics and gentle tropical intent. On the flip, Ray Mang makes his second appearance for the label with "Cc Amor", a tasty revision of a punchy, horn-heavy chunk of disco sweetness. Wisely, he makes much more of the original version's all-too-short drum breaks, chopping and looping the carnival-friendly percussion to guarantee greater dancefloor thrills.

Review: The latest sneaky 7" from Eddie C's Red Motorbike imprint is a split affair, with the Canadian producer being joined by sometime Conga Radio man Robert S (this time under the previously unused Roberto alias). The latter delivers "Safari", an unfeasibly tactile fusion of sensual, slo-mo beats, looped new age synthesizer refrains and sleazy, late night saxophone. In contrast, Eddie C's "Slippin Away" mines the world of disco-rock for inspiration, re-editing a chunky, break-driven, organ-laden groover and turning it into a real dancefloor treat. As he often does, the Canadian has added a touch of dub delay and a few filter sweeps to keep things cosmic.

Review: A fantastic foursome from boozy beat peddlers Whiskey Disco, the "Another Love" EP features label mates old and new. Eddie C ignites proceedings with a chubby electro boogie fused jam that pops and rolls with big disco bubbles and obese synth bass. Slide down deeper to meet label newbie Scott M who's done some serious dancefloor damage with a well-known Vernon Burch track. Further on we hit the EP title track, a Chi-town-style jacker with filtered flurries and a timeless disco house message. Finally we end on a well-spaced, loopy deep disco twist on France Joli's "Gonna Get Over You" courtesy of Pontchartrain.

Review: One hand-stamped 7" from Edward of C's Red Motorbike label, two totally different stories... "Farmer God" is a yarn of unfettered Balearic proportions. Languishing somewhere in the Wild West, 150 years ago, it's a lolloping composition where each nylon string weep is echoed by an equally mournful organ flurry. The chips-are-down soundtrack to any great western, it's Eddie at his most sedate and contemplative. "The Touch" brings us back to the present day by way of a sexy mid-tempo strut. All disco bubbles and overlayed pianos, this should really be a 10" just to accommodate the feel good vibes.

Review: Canada's foremost re-edit imprint continues to churn out the hits, largely by delivering dub disco and Balearic-tinged interpretations of long forgotten or little-known cuts. Common Edit regulars Dane and Khotin join forces on the A-side, delivering a sweet chunk of boogie-era synthesizer reggae ("Imho"), before heading futher towards peaktime territory with the low-slung, late night AOR disco of "System". Eddie C digs delves into his seemingly bottomless crates of obscurities for inspiration on "I Want More", a gorgeous chunk of piano-laden Balearic disco sweetness. Finally, Dane lights up something medicinal, closes his eyes and delivers the smacked-out, guitar-laden ambient chug of "One For Dane". It's an absolute beauty, if truth be told.

Review: Here's something of a treat for those of a Balearic persuasion: a musical meeting of minds between the ever magnificent Seahawks and the similarly talented Eddie C, on the latter's Red Motorbike imprint. "Say Hello To Love" sounds like it was created to accompany long, endless sunsets, with woozy guitar lines, gravelly vocals and swirling chords wrapping themselves around a lolloping groove. Things get trippy on the flip, where all parties neck a whole load of hallucinogens and lay down the kind of psychedelic fusion of electronics, effects-laden guitars and hissing percussion of which dear old Syd Barrett would no doubt approve.

Review: Japanese label Endless Flight embarks on the first of several Eddie C remix 12"s. First up is Marvin & Guy's remix to "La Palette" - the title track from Eddie C's most recent Endless Flight EP. What was originally a funky and Havana-styled house tune gets transformed into an electro-tinged cut of new school boogie with italo synths and lo-fi drums. Bearded Australian producer Tornado Wallace continues his re-emergence from production slumber with a remix of "Every Life Under The Invisible Hands", taken from Eddie C's Country City Country album. This time a funkier production is dipped into a deep pool of cosmic Balearica, with Wallace sending Eddie C's original elements through a galaxy of pumping bass, starlight synths and space western themed guitars.

Review: Red Motorbike rider Eddie C takes off his highway code approved helmet and dons his much heavier headgear for a trip into outer space: "Solaris" is a twinkling odyssey that, if you didn't know who was behind it, you'd bet your house was of Norwegian origin. "Flying Blue" retains the cosmic vibe but more in a spiritual sense as flutes flutter over percussive congas and more disco-influenced bass/kick combo. Finally Move D adds a deep, chuggy tech twist of Eddie's 2013 album track "La Palette" for added 3am dynamics.

Review: Two more delicious roadtrips from the Red Motorbike founder and spiritual leader Eddie C: "The Day Will Come" is a lilting, sample-heavy head-nodder that develops its own stop/start momentum as the deftly sliced strings and vocals are recontextualised to great effect. "Moonrings" is a more floor-focused dub disco affair as the chugging groove lets the guitars ripple, the keys skitter and scatter and the flutes waft trippily into the ether. Get the motor running... this one's a keeper.

Review: On point... Not just an apt name for the latest instalment of his super-collectable 7" series, but the perfect way to describe Eddie C's abilities as a disco and funk merchant. Released just weeks after his killer album Country City Country was repressed (by popular demand), both of these original cuts shimmer with funk decadence; "On Point" is a stripped back slap bass and string groove with heaps of space that allows the big squishy synth licks to shine through on the fills. "Golyak", meanwhile, stumbles and lulls with a rustic south European folk soul. Beautiful.

Review: Rightly or wrongly, some believe that for an album to be truly great, it must take you on a journey. We're not sure yet whether Eddie C's second full-length, Country City Country, is a great album, but it's certainly something of a rollercoaster. Perhaps not a white knuckle ride, but certainly an undulating trip that bristles with vivid creativity and effortless dancefloor warmth. Given the Canadian's crate-digging sensibilities, it's no surprise to find that it's built around carefully chosen samples. Yet this is no mere cut and paste job. Beginning with a slew of lazy, slo-mo shufflers and tactile disco groovers, it sure-footedly works its way to a starlight deep house crescendo via drum machine electro, string-laden jack tracks and electric piano-laden jazz-funk jams.

Review: The Africa Shakedown label coined one of last year's surprise hits with it's debut release, and the label's second release is likely to prove just as popular. Noema features once more and the Salon Zur Wilden Renate resident has collared contributions from Eddie C, Axel Boman and the Soft Rocks crew. Eddie C is first up with the irresistibly groovy "O Ye" which wouldn't look out of place on a Red Motorbike 45 dinker, whilst Noema conjures up the spirit of Bill Laswell on the dubby, scratchy production "The Shake". Studio Barnhus co-founder Boman is probably the biggest draw here and his rerub of the uncredited "Bayaya" should be familiar to anyone that's caught a DJ set from the fun loving Swede. Soft Rocks bring it home with the heavily delayed jammer "Disco Machine". Strong moves all round here sir.

Review: Berlin's most foremost Canadian exponent of disco sleaze Eddie C is back on home from home Endless Flight with the Want To Please 12"! It's been a busy year for Mr Edward Currelly so far with some produce on Red Motorbike and a contribution to the excellent Africa Shakedown series but it's nice to see the words Eddie C and Endless Flight together once again on a release sheet. The title track is a fine example of the ease with which Currelly merges elements disco with house, whilst there's a cosmic funk wedged deep in the beat down bliss of "First Chair". The real heat is on the B Side however with both "Help Me" and "Help You" two different variants on Eddie C playing around with a classic drum break.
