Notes: Additive synthesis oscillator based on the concept of building up harmonics from sine waves. A complex idea nicely executed for ease of use.

Suppliers notes:
Odessa implements the principle of additive synthesis controlled by a set of carefully tailored macro parameters to harness thousands of sinusoidal partials that altogether form the resulting sound.

The interface is kept simple and accessible, so you can easily build rich and full, great sounding timbres of very complex spectra, that can be either harmonic or inharmonic. Even though inharmonic spectra yield non-periodic waveforms, all partials are frequency related to the common fundamental controlled by a V/oct input. The series of harmonics can be squeezed or spread apart, tilt, and pruned by a comb-like frequency response, resulting in a variety of unearthy sounds. Animating the comb response yields radical effects similar to flanging and phasing. Additional, often sought after features are implemented: through-zero linear frequency modulation, and unison detune: up to 5 copies of the sound can be spread apart for a fat and dense cluster of voices.

There are nine parameters, each controlled by a dedicated knob, so the workflow is as smooth and immediate as possible. Furthermore, every parameter has a dedicated CV input, allowing live animation for organic audio effects. Odessa sports two main outputs for banks of harmonic partials that can be further scaled in frequency, as well as an additional output that can either spit out a square wave or a single sinusoid of the fundamental frequency. Interesting spatial effects, crazy modulation feedbacks as well as synchronisation is possible that way.

The hardware is based on a powerful FPGA chip offering massive parallel computing. The synthesized signal is devoid of aliasing through the entire audio range thanks to intrinsically bandlimited algorithm. A simplified spectral analyser helps you to keep a visual track of what is actually happening to the harmonics.

For even more control over Odessa, you can use the Leibniz subsystem (or just the Lipsk) that can be connected to a header at the back of the module.

Notes: Bonkers digital processing business from Xaoc. Crunchy 8-bit waveshaping, additive Walsh synthesis, freaky modulation. Wild stuff.

Supplier notes:
The new component of the Leibniz Subsystem which operates on signals and voltages through manipulating binary 8-bit numbers. Jena connects to the Drezno module in a loopback. A binary transfunctioner maps input functions (e.g. waveshapes) to some other functions through the classic table look-up mechanism. Input 8-bit values are treated as indices to an internal memory map. The value read from successive locations of the memory are passed to the output.

A simple VCO sawtooth or a triangle wave may be transformed to a plethora of waveshapes from any of the shape banks, with additional, deep through-zero phase modulation. Individual bit outputs may be used to produce interesting signals as well. There is a dedicated bank of Walsh functions - with these signals you can perform additive Walsh synthesis, not very common in Eurorack, but a quite powerful technique.

Transforming slow waveforms to sequences of binary signals is a great way to create rhythmic drum patterns. Jena comes with a special bank that has plenty of such patterns - just connect up to 8 drum voices to individual bit outputs on Jena. The rhythms can be selected or morphed on the fly through external CV input.

Obviously, being limited to 8 bits both in phase and signal value, Jena will not deliver crystal clear timbres you may know from many wavetable oscillators. Instead, it offers buzzy, jittery and gritty sounds as well as jerky and skippy rhythms, just like vintage computers, that were sometimes unreliable and unpredictable.

Four inputs can be routed with individual buttons to four outputs. Those routing settings are stored in an array of matrices that can be sequenced or controlled with CV. Preset routing, feedback loops, chop sequences, trigger blasts (with expander), four-bit-wavetable-synthesis, and dramatic controllable mayhem are all possible.

The Sequential Switch Matrix (SSM) is a four input, four output signal routing system. The digitally controlled analog signal paths allow for a variety of routing control options. The open architecture allows for many uses beyond simple signal routing and unity mixing.

The signal path uses 0.1% resistors and will pass precision pitch or other CV signals with minimal gain and offset errors.
Inputs 1 - 4: These inputs accept bipolar +-10V signals before clipping. Signal level will illuminate the adjacent LED; green for positive voltages, red for negative.

Outputs 1 - 4: These outputs (along the bottom) contain the signals from the inputs (summed together) if the routing LED is lit.

Comparator: The Compare In input voltage is compared to each output voltage. If the output is higher than the Compare In voltage, the Comp output will be high (10V gate) for that channel. The blue LED will also be illuminated.

DAC 1:2 Out: This output is generated from the status of the first two columns. It is a weighted Digital to Analog conversion. 1-1 is the most significant bit, carrying a weight of 2.5 volts. 2-1 is exactly half that weight (1.25V). 4-2 is the least significant bit (0.020V). The two columns provide an 8 bit voltage output that is always present.

Notes: The WMD Pro Output is a simple and purpose built module to get your modular signal interfaced with professional and consumer audio gear. It also includes a very high quality headphone driver.

Rail to rail opamps at the input stage allow for headroom above the typical eurorack levels of 20Vpp. The Pro Output can handle 23Vpp before clipping. Signals are attenuated down to the proper levels allowing for simple adjustment free connection to any type of device, professional or consumer.

The Pro Output is DC coupled through the entire signal path, including the headphone driver. This design eliminates coupling capacitors and the distortion they can cause.

Controls and I/O:

Input - The inputs are designed to accept any normal modular level. 10Vpp is the nominal operation level. The left input is normaled to the right side for mono operation. Inputs will clip at 23Vpp, giving enough headroom for any eurorack signal.

Phones/Line - The headphone driver connects to a 3.5mm stereo jack, and a 1/4" jack for whatever type of headphones you use. It can drive both simultaneously.

The headphone output level is internally limited to protect against accidental knob turns. Connect a couple of jumpers to the rear of the module to disable this limiting. This will allow the headphone amp to drive headphones extremely loudly, but still without distortion. Output quality remains the same regardless of the jumper settings.

With the limiting enabled (jumpers off), the maximum output is around -10dBV. With limiting disabled (jumpers on), the maximum output increases to pro level, about +4dBu.

Stereo - The Stereo (-10dBV) output is designed to interface directly with consumer level gear. Hook directly to sound cards, portable recorders, and speakers. It can be used as a second headphone output but will be loud.

+4dBu Bal - These two outputs (left and right) are high quality low impedance balanced line drivers. They are designed to drive long cables and to drive balanced transformer or transformerless inputs. Use these to connect directly to mixing consoles, mic preamps, or any other piece of professional outboard gear.

Notes: The WMD Overseer is a stereo filter inspired by those commonly found on DJ mixers and DJ software. It features two filters on one knob, stereo ins and outs, bypass switch, and a fun stereo "Tilt" function which offsets the filter cut-off frequency across the stereo field creating some dizzying stereo effects.

Controls:

- Bypass Switch: Turns the filter on and off. LED will be red when the filter is engaged. Toggles on button release.
- Filter Cut-off Knob (the big one): Turn Left for Low-Pass filtering and Right for High-Pass filtering. No filtering in the middle. Becomes offset with CV.
- Filter Cut-off Switch: Switched to the left limits both filters to audible frequencies so you cannot accidentally filter out all signal. Switched to the right disables the limit allowing you to filter the signal into oblivion.
- Resonance knob: Controls the amount of frequency boost at the cut-off point. Will not self-oscillate. Knob becomes offset with CV.

- HP - LP Knobs: Attenuverters for incoming CV over the filters.
- HP - LP Switch: Switch to the right sends 5V to the HP - LP knobs and turns them into independent controls for the cut-off frequency of both filters, allowing you to control both filters at the same time with these independent knobs.

Notes: Javelin is the envelope WMD have always needed to make. The best parts were taken from Multimode Envelope and combined them with the simplicity and convenience of an ADSR with integrated VCA. The tricks learned from live performance, and use of other awesome synthesizers, were put all together to create the ultimate Eurorack envelope.

Javelin starts out as a simple ADSR envelope. 3 level ranges have been added, giving you control over the envelope's overall amplitude. Next, 3 time ranges allow for quick switching of the feel of the envelope. These ranges were carefully designed to work with each other, making the switch a fun and playable part of the interface. Short and snappy, long and drawn out (max 88 minutes per stage with 5V in a stage's CV input), the Javelin will suit any style of music or playing style.

Expression is key. The addition of Accent and Choke inputs make for very interesting sequences that are just a couple gates away.

The Accent behavior is incredibly unique. Multiple consecutive gates while the Accent input is high cause the envelope to climb a bit higher with each gate, causing whatever you are controlling to accent a bit harder on each next gate. When controlling a filter, this creates a sound that can be personified with breathing, laughing, screaming, or crying, and is the key to the perfect, funky, acid style bass line. This behavior can also be disabled if you prefer a static Accent level.

As if that's not enough, the Accent input is actually a CV input which lets you use CV to effect the amount of accent with intention. 3 different accent ranges let you choose the maximum amount that the envelope will accent to. Complete control!

Reset lets you stop the envelope in it's tracks with a gate signal. This is great for using long envelope times for some steps and cutting them off for others without the need for another CV channel. However, Attack and Release also have CV inputs can can be sequenced externally. Release CV can even be routed to control Decay and Release simultaneously, a common control scheme in vintage style synthesizer envelopes.

Combining all of these methods of control on Javelin let you pinpoint the sound you are after. An absolute joy to work with.

Notes: The WMD Geiger Counter is now available in the popular Eurorack Modular format and has voltage control of many features.

The Controls - The Geiger Counter may seem overwhelming, but once broken down, the controls are quite logical.

Gain - Low settings provide clean tones with no distortion at all, while high settings will brickwall your signal for great sustain. Use the Gain control as a coarse setting for getting the desired tone from the selected wave table.

Tone - The Geiger Counter's tone control blends muffled low-mids with chimey and clear upper mids and highs providing a very large range of sounds in junction with the Gain. All the way down and the sound is muffled and grungy with little upper harmonic content. The middle range is smooth and full bodied. The top range cuts the lows completely for only upper harmonic content. Use the Tone to fine tune the sound of the wave table.

Tone Enable/Disable - This switch removes the tone control from the preamp circuit. The tone control sucks some volume from the gain, and this allows the pure ultra hot signal to go directly into the Wave Table. If a very clean tone is desired, set to Disable and adjust the gain to get the right amount of breakup. For most wave tables, disabling the Tone will produce completely different sounds by brickwalling to the extremes of the tables faster.

Direct In/Level - The direct input allows a signal to be injected directly to the Geiger Counter's digital heart and bypassing the preamps coloration.

Sample Rate - Controls the length of the samples your signal is converted into. Full up and the Geiger Counter samples faster than a CD. Dial it down a little and you'll lower the fidelity and frequency response, adding overtones and difference frequencies. Down a little produces some very nice chimey clean tones. Down more and higher notes disappear into difference frequencies, all the way down to 280Hz. The sample rate is sort of like a flange whammy.

When the LED is Red, the Sample Rate is in fine mode where the range is limited to the upper end.

The CV input and attenuator are only active when a cable is plugged into the CV jack. When CV controlled, the Sample Rate knob selects the center frequency about which the CV signal moves. When the LED is Green, the Sample Rate knob is logically ANDed with the CV signal, producing some interesting sounds as the CV changes.

Bit Depth - This controls the finer details of the signal. All up and your signal is represented by the full 8 bits. Each step down cuts the resolution in half, adding quantization error distortion, all the way down to 1 bit making a nasty square wave from a once clean tone. This produces a lo-fi gated distortion sound.

The LED when Green engages Mask mode where your signal is logically ANDed to the 8 bit number produced by the Bit Depth knob. This produces uneven gaps in your signal for some interesting distortion sounds.

The Bit Depth CV and level control is only active when a cable is plugged into the Bit Depth CV input. The Bit Depth knob then controls the center frequency. However, unlike the Sample Rate control, the bit depth can wrap around the edges of the control if the CV signal is larger than the range allows for.

Wave Table - This knob and display select the wave table to run your signal through. The wave table stage takes your signal and destroys it with math. This produces some incredible sounds. The wave tables are organized so that a more extreme version is typically found one up from the current one. There are 252 wave tables in all, each with different harmonic content.

The display is in HEX, displaying the numbers 0-9 and the letters A-F. Don't be alarmed, it actually makes remembering your desired wave table easier! The wave table is remembered when the pedal is turned off.

The Wave Table CV input is similar to the Bit Depth's. The CV signal is only active when a cable is plugged in. The Wave Table will wrap around the end points 00 and FB. The center is set by the WaveTable knob.

MIDI CLOCK
Eloquencer can receive 24ppqn sync from MIDI device from its DIN-5 MIDI Input, and can send 24ppqn MIDI clock through its DIN-5 MIDI out.
When working as 'internal' it will send the internal clock to the MIDI output.
When working as 'external' will send the eurorack incoming clock to the MIDI output transformed into 24ppqn.

MIDI OUT
The Eloquencer tracks can be independently assigned to:
Voice events (note on/off, velocity, ch pressure) For example Track A can be assigned to Channel 1 Note on/off and Track B can be assigned to Channel 1 Velocity, so track A gates and CV control Channel 1 notes and pitch, and track B controls Channel 1 Velocity.

Program Change (PC)

The gate and CV output will work as usual when a MIDI OUTPUT is assigned, so voices can be doubled using the modular and an external synth.

There's a particular execution order for MIDI out events, so the first to be launched is the Program Change, followed by the CC and then the voice events. This way, we can launch program changes before the note on message is received allowing preset changes for each step.

MIDI IN
Both, the DIN-5 MIDI in and the USB can be used to change eloquencer parameters using controllers or to introduce notes in REC MODE using a keyboard.

There are 3 different groups of controls associated to MIDI channels:
Channel : 8 MIDI channels to control parameters of specific tracks from A to H
Global : 1 MIDI channel to control Global parameters.
Focus: 1 MIDI channel to control the parameters of the currently selected track (track in focus). That means that if Track A is selected and we send CC 38, we will be shifting track A, but if we select track B and we send the same CC 38, we will be shifting track B.

When using the USB host input, the EME can send feedback information in case the controller that is being used has LEDs to be updated.

There is a big amount of eloquencer parameters that can be controlled using an external MIDI interface / controller. For example:

Non-destructive track parameters addition/subtraction (CV, CVP, CVR, GL GLP, R...)
