Rupture's Double O gets busy on 'Mouse Trap'. A snappy device in every which way, he maintains that iconic intro before flipping those venomous mentasms into a spacious 'Deadline' type of vibe before sweeping us off our feet with a cosmic progression. 'Physics' follow suit with turbo twists from Stretch & Threshold. A much more uptempo, militant twist on the 'We Can Be Free' b-side, this one slaps just as hard as the original did 33 years ago.

First up, a Stretch & Enjoy remix that is a fury of hard hitting breaks and spring hi hats all underpinned with jump up bass. The vocal is a soulful one that takes the edge off the drum based tension. On the flip is a perfect back room version in the form of the Cool Down mix which has more squelchy synth work and 90s downtempo vibes with ragga mic work and smoother breakbeats.

Review: Gold standard house label Razor-N-Tape looks back to Guinu's modern LP of Brazilian jazz-funk, Palago^, and has some key cuts from it remixed by a selection of assured studio hands here. First up, Jose Marquez reworks the title track into a heavy and hypnotic jam with big percussion. The Faze Action remix of 'Haha Fe' brings some fresh disco sounds and RNT stalwart Diogo Strausz brings big room synth energy and cosmic vocal filters. Last of all, Brazilian Carrot Green brings the 80s boogie brilliance to 'Porao de Ferro.'

Review: It's a while since we last heard from Bruno 'Patchworks' Hovart's Afro-disco focused Violaaa project, so this surprise set of remixes of back catalogue tracks is more than welcome. Fittingly, three of the versions come from Hovart himself under different aliases. There's a fine, tropical-tinged, sun-splashed Violaaa revision of 'Tu Mens Divant Moi' that doffs a cap to zouk music, and two deep house-tinged Patchworks versions of classic cuts. The mix of the outfit's underground hit 'Spies Are Watching Me' is a brilliant alternative take on a familiar favourite (it certainly breathes new life into the track), while the samba-house-in-Ghana revision of 'Ben Bene La' is brilliant. Throw in a quality J Kriv deep nu-disco version of 'Ku La Foon' and you have an excellent EP of tasteful, club-ready cuts.

Review: Originally released digitally two years ago and here finally available on wax, Krafwerk's Remixes pairs a swathe of vintage reworks (mostly from the '90s and early-to-mid-2000s) with a handful of surprise 2018 reworks from the legendary German band. In this latter category you'll find a fantastic, slowed-down take on 'Musique Non-Stop' and two versions of 'The Robots' based on their 21st century live versions. Other highlights include Orbital's weighty, club-ready revision of 'Expo 2000', an early '90s Francois K extension of The Mix remake of 'Radioactivity', superb Motor City techno takes on 'Expo 2000' from DJ Rolando and Underground Resistance, and two storming Hot Chip remixes of cuts from the Tour De France LP.

As well as taking fresh approaches to their own material, they've invited others to mess with the legacy of one of the most important electronic acts of all time. It's no mean feat to remix a Kraftwerk track, but as such the roll call on this compilation is reliably heavyweight. Review: Back in 2017, mystery producer The Ambientist offered up two thrillingly retro-futurist EPs that effortlessly joined the dots between ambient, IDM, proto-jungle, ambient techno and dream house. Here, he or she offers up a selection of reworks of tracks from those now sought-after EPs. A-side "10 (Calming Rain For Deep Sleep Edit)" is wonderful: a slow-burn, deep ambient techno number rich in ghostly chords and hushed spoken word samples that reminded us of Biosphere's early work. Over on the flip, label stalwart Rising Sun re-imagines "4 (A Sign Of True Friendship Mix)" as a soul-flecked slab of gently pulsing breakbeat house that's deeper than a Scottish loch and twice as picturesque. "Bonus", a two-minute shuffle through hazy, breakbeat-fired deep house grooves, is also solid.

Review: South Street's latest missive gathers together a trio of club-friendly remixes of Nina Simone classics that first appeared on the 2006 compilation "Remixed & Reimagined". Francois K impresses with an A-side revision of Simone's celebrated cover of Beatles classic "Here Comes The Sun" that sounds like a long lost Larry Heard record from his classic Fingers Inc. period. Those after something a little more rolling and funk-fuelled should wrap their ears around Tony Humphries' Dub of "Turn Me On", which boasts a seductive mixture of Romanthony style hard loops and rumbling, UK garage influenced bass. Completing the package is Coldcut's fine re-imagining of "Save Me", which places Simone's heart-arching vocal atop skittish, club-ready drums and looped guitars.

Review: Sneaker Social Club are not messing around! Following their previous outings from the legendary trio 2 Bad Mice comes remixes from two impeccably forward thinking break crafters; Sully takes "Gone Too Soon" into some fantastical places as the breaks scream jungle but the big breeze pads scream Alex Reece but both elements work together emotively. Falty DL, meanwhile, gives us a hardcore schooling on "Limit Of Paradise" with its heavily layered breaks, wall of sound pads and dynamic drops into spacious hooks. Bad to the (clear vinyl) bone!

Review: "Sundial" and "Holding You Close" were both amongst the highlights of Crackazat's sublime sophomore album, Rainbow Fantazia, which dropped to critical acclaim last autumn. Here, those two tracks get the remix treatment, with Crackazat's original version of "Holding You Close" - a deliciously tactile, eyes-closed vocal number underpinned by elastic acid bass and fluttering synthesizer motifs- thrown in for good measure. The pick of the two new mixes comes from Groove Assassin, whose organ-heavy revision of "Sundial" is a joyous trip into goodtime, soul-flecked deep house territory with more than enough swing to satisfy serious dancers. That said Wajeed's mix of "Holding You Close", which emphasizes the track's soulful elements while adding new instrumentation and backing vocals, is also very good.

Review: Sublime remix magic from Detroit's Terrence Parker on HNNY's sporadic but forever on-point Beer. Taking two of Local Talk's coolest grooves of 2016, he adds his own deep drive and sparkle to both cuts and the results speak for themselves... Jamie 3.26 and Masalo's gospel smasher gets a new bulletproof groove coat while the flip, Art Of Tones' "I Just (Can't Get Over It)" is draped with a sparkling synth sheen and given just an extra bit of energy in the piano-primed groove. Quintessential Parker.

Review: Jamie Paton has been a regular fixture on [Emotional] Especial since the label first came to light, conjuring up a seductive blend of leftfield dance music with a broad range of influences. This time around he's turning out some of his remixes, leading in with the sweaty, dense throb of Sexy Merlin's "See You In The Dark". Guy Schlalom's "Habibi" by way of contrast becomes a lighter confection peppered with bubbly synth lines and an almost poppy persuasion. Blancmange's "Feel Me" has a more cosmic lilt in its voluminous tones, and "Overdrive" by Gatos Negros drifts out on an off-kilter kind of boogie for all manner of deviant dancers to get head-nodding to.

Review: TV Baby are NYC duo Matthew McAuley and Brain (not a typo, apparently) McPeck who are what local legend James Murphy would describe as using "borrowed nostalgia for the unremembered 80s" with their brand revised no-wave antics. Produced by Gabriel Andruzzi of the Rapture, their music is impressive nonetheless and gets some equally impressive remixes by these guys: check 'em out. First up is Los Angelo Secret Circuit doing his trademark psychedelic synth thing on "Free Tech", Tom Of England hands in two remixes of "Wild Joy", but it's all about the "Tom Of England Astro instrumental" where it stutters and glitches away in real style. Finally "Klerin Priest" gets the remix treatment and we'd have to hand the award to Ivan Smagghe whose "Frossed Remix" channels that dirty late night Paris feel much like his early Black Strobe releases did: grinding, squealing and booming about the place. One of his best remixes in years, if you ask us.

Review: Emotional Especial and Cocktail d'Amore Music enter 'cahoot-mode' once again with a second round of Sfire remixes that take proceedings down a deeper, more stripped-back path courtesy of the inimitable Timothy J Fairplay and Willie Burns. Two artists who need little introduction offer up two remixes each that take the unique original to new dance floor extremes. Timothy steps up first with his take on "Sfire 2" via differing vocal and instrumental versions. His trademark, echo laden rolling percussion and John Carpenter-style key lines take the original Synth-pop homage to the dark room. Adding Arps, a lifting, hedonistic breakdown and the scatter-stepper drums and claps found on the Instrumental version and this is pure COTF territory and the better for it. Mr Willie Burns meanwhile has long followed his own path for his take on "Sfire 3", offering one of his deepest remixes to date. Thudding kick, brooding pads and dark strings force the vocals to go down, way down for examination. The distorted vocals of Remix 1 are countered by Remix 2 letting the track shine via a seemingly endless 4/4 beat. Psychedelic, trance inducing, pulsating, this is an ever growing mind expanse.
