Review: Peaktime zoneouts from Rodhad and company; Crimson Rubeus is the first compilation on WSNWG to be curated by the techno titan, and hears eight rising bubblers of the scene contribute to a well-rounded octagonal sonic prism in double LP form. All circulating for months in demo form and as fixtures of Rodhad's sets across Europe, every track here - from the snappy synaptics of Nastia Reigel's 'Limit Y' to the non-duped beffudlery of O (phase)'s 'Exiting The Delusion' - drips with an aural crimson rouge; truly a hematophage's dream. Rodhad does the almost impossible here; squeezes blood from the stony style that is hypnotic techno.

Review: Aubrey is one of the pioneers of the house and techno sound and has been releasing solidly for over twenty five years now. Releasing through his co-owned Solid Groove label, the man's Discogs catalogue is brimming with 4/4 quality. This time he returns to the label with "Nebular", a minimalistic techno workout for Dettmanians and Klockians alike. The power tool is accompanied by a trio of remixes: Exos speeds things up and enters high-tech mode, deep house maestro Ed Davenport swings and vibes his way with a relatively more aggressive sound than usual, whereas Lee Holman goes for the pneumatic drill aesthetic a-la Bunker. Review: There's no doubt that Lobster Theremin was one of the runaway success stories of 2014, with each of their releases - which veered between dusty, otherworldly deep house and raw techno via creepy ambience - being nigh on essential. This first 12" of 2015 comes from London newcomer Ozel AB, who the label aptly describes as a "hazologist" and "day-dreamer". There's certainly something sleepy - despite the hypnotic, club-friendly rhythms and gently throbbing sub - about opener "Sidestep To Your Left", while follow-up "Digital Natives" seemingly shimmers thanks to yearning chords, shuffling rhythms and raw electronics. Things get a little creepier on the flip, where "Karim Bey" and "La Busqueda" tiptoe the fine line between dystopian deep house and distorted techno.

Review: Shifted returns to home base with some more Covered In Sand material for Mira. The Covered In Sand project from Shifted was introduced with Heaven's Gate Suicides, a 10" + 7" package that was one of the first few releases on the Mira label and helped to define the parameters for experimentation on the Avian offshoot that were subsequently explored by Worn, Prostitutes and Burma Camp. Having gone on to release two of last year's more compelling albums in the Shifted set Under A Single Banner for Dom Fernow's Hospital Productions and the Alexander Lewis LP for Blackest Ever Black, the closely guarded producer graces Mira with a second dosage of Covered In Sand. Contained within the Silent Servant designed sleeve for Crescent Shaped Scars are three abrasive noise workouts with lead track "Luarica" the closest you'd get to an outright techno production thanks to it's hollowed out ritualistic drumming.

Review: HI LO has had some huge collabs with Filth On Acid boss Reinier Zonneveld and now makes a step up to Adam Beyer's mighty Drumcode with more of his maximal techno sounds. 'Crescendo' is a raw slammer with hard edge and raw drums hitting hard beneath incendiary hi-hats and flashes of bright synth and twisted acid. It's a main room weapon of the highest order. 'Open Your Mind' is more ragged and unhinged, it's stark hits and bulky broken techno drums beneath a raucous mix of percussion and saw-tooth synths. No messing with these two.

Review: If you're yet to add a Creme or L.I.E.S. record to your collection this year let this Creme Organization Valley Of Shadows x LIES EP kills two bids with the one stone. Or you could just get it for Randomer's obliterating "Ugly Drummer". Legowelt throws down some spiralling Detroitisms in "Only In America" following the colourful club construction Innershades provides in "Acid Rehearsal", and to match the brutality of Randomer's A-side cut is Ron Morelli's "Signal Jam" retooled as a darkly bending slab of cathedral techno by Greg Beato. Simoncino provides more of his usual sequenced Chicago house prowess in "Earth & Nightfall" leaving Willie Burns to let loose on the keys in "He Is Crazy Enough" when closing out this radical compilation.

Review: We are proud to showcase more Bay Area family with the release of a new EP by Doc Sleep who cut her chops as a DJ in San Francisco's vibrant scene the past decade. In 2016 she made the move to Berlin and became a resident of Room 4 Resistance. Since 2013, she's been the co-owner of Jacktone Records, which specializes in techno, ambient, and experimental electronics. In 2016/2017 she released her first 12's on the Hot Mass-affiliated Detour Records and Bottom Forty. She also co-wrote a track with Bezier and Nicole Ginelli, titled "Stranger," that we released on the 'Primes' EP in 2017. Her latest release, 'Your Ruling Planet', was released on Jacktone in March 2019. We first heard "Creme Fraiche" on Doc's soundcloud page and begged to release it. The track has the feel-good vibes you get on early morning dancefloors as things are winding down or up. Paired on the A-side is the pulsating dark jam "Never Eating Again" that previously appeared on 'Run The Length Of Your Wildness V.2' and, like that compilation, proceeds from this track will be donated to Ghost Ship Fire victim Cherushii's family. On the B-side are two remixes from close friends of Doc. First up is a fresh breakbeat remix from Violet: DJ, producer, boss of Naive records, co-founder of Radio Quantica, and mina resident shaking up Lisbon's nightlife. Second is Berlin-based producer and fellow R4R resident, rRoxymore, who presents an innovative remix of future-facing techno and bass variations adding her own vocals on top. For this release we've teamed up with Jacktone to release a cassette version, our first in this format, featuring two peak-time bonus tracks. All songs have been mastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Each copy is housed in jacket designed by Eloise Leigh with neon pink and lavender gradients echo morning sunrises with a collage of dreamy elements using a photo by Doc of Club Toilet in Detroit.

Review: According to Craigie Knowes, this label debut from rising star Fasme is full of "trax to soundtrack your voyage through time and space". It's certainly an emotive affair, with opener 'Creeping Plant' smothering a throbbing, trance style bassline and crunchy machine drums in cascading synthesiser melodies, rushing piano motifs, swirling chords and suitably psychedelic acid lines. Fasme's love of TB-303-powered techno comes to the fore on 'Unlimited Fun' (an accurate title), while 'Lezgo' doffs a cap to the more melodious and progressive end of late 1990 trance. Fasme cools things down on the flip, tiptoeing towards the chill-out room via the head-nodding beats, ambient chords and bubbly bass of 'Snake Venom', before conjuring up some stellar ambient dub in the shape of 'Melted'.

Review: London-based artist Forest Drive West lands on superb Munich label Ilian Tape here with a new hand-stamped 12". He is someone who has mastered hi-fidelity minima bass music over the last few years, mostly on Livity Sound. This time out he offers four more of his intricate and masterfully designs cuts across two sides of vinyl as part of the ITX Series. As always there is a perfect balance between light and dark, physical groove and emotive synth work that pulls you in deep to his unique musical world. Do not sleep on this one.
