Wehbba - "Fake" (7:21)

Mars Bill - "Mohave" (7:05)
Spektre - "Nasqueron" (7:13)
Review: Drumcode returns with its sixth installment of the internationally celebrated A-Sides series. Renowned for fostering a shared space between industry tastemakers and rising talent alike, the careful curation that goes into each volume is a fine example of why Adam Beyer's brand continues to go from strength to strength. This volume features scene stalwarts on the A side such as Brazil's Wehbba with his doom laden peak time assault entitled "Fake" featuring a monstrous Reese bassline this side of label classics such as "Murder Was The Bass", as well as Sweden's Tiger Stripes with the pre-peak time adrenaline of "Destroyer". On the flip, Rotherham's finest Spektre serve up the powerful "Nasqueron" which is guaranteed for absolute dancefloor destruction.

Mind Awake
Review: ***B-STOCK: Record has very light surface marks/smudges, but otherwise in perfect working order***

Long-serving Brazilian techno titan Redolfo Wehbba made his bow on Drumcode earlier in the year, delighting the Swedish label's army of fans with the Eclipse EP. Here he returns with what may be the first and only EP ever named in honour of a kitty's chocolate starfish. "Catarse", the aforementioned title track, is something of a bombastic, big room techno roller; a thumping affair where dreamy, saucer-eyed riffs slowly rise above an intense rhythm track. While good, it's arguably not a patch on the ragged intensity of opener "She Lost Control" - all ricocheting drum machine fills, wild electronic riffs and rumbling bass - or "Mind Awake", a throbbing, sleazy and downright intoxicating workout that contains some distinctly dystopian noises.

Review: Rodolfo Abrao Wehbba is a leading light of Brazil's techno scene, although he's truly an international concern after more than 15 years in the game. He's put out a lot of music over the years, but more recently he's been aligned with labels like Hotflush and the monolithic Drumcode. It's Adam Beyer's empire he returns to for this, his first EP in three years. The sound on Dynamo is as massive as you would expect, full of that precision engineered arena-filling thump and sky-scraping synth lines, but all shot through with the seductive darkness which makes the Drumcode sound so appealing to such huge crowds of people.

Ramiro Lopez - "Yo Mas" (6:37)
Anna Reusch - "Deeper" (7:20)
Review: Drumcode's A Sides series has been a great source of contemporary techno potency and there is no signs of it slowing down yet. This is the second part of the 11th volume and it has three fresh names. Veerus opens up with 'Lights On Me' which is a dark tune with a tense energy and celestial chords keeping you in suspense. Ramiro Lopez then offers the more loopy and hypnotic 'Yo Mas' with its hooky vocals bring an exotic feel. Anna Reusch shuts down with a flat footed stomper that will get your jaws clenched on 'Deeper.'

It's Funky (6:07)
Review: Adam Beyer's Drumcode label is very nearly at its 300th release, which is a fine achievement by anyone's standards. Here he taps up Veerus for more of the Swedish imprints signature main room techno tackle and he doesn't fall short. 'Cycle' is full of the sort of drama you expect from this label - flat, driving drums, synths fired from a machine gun, strobe lit pads and frazzled textures to make for exciting and impactful experiences. 'It's Funky' on the flip is another big one with thunderous clasp and drums all sweeping dancers off their feet.

Review: Ascendant Bulgarian producer Timmo returns to Drumcode for his fourth release. You can bet that he's brought out the big guns for the main room at peak-time on the Meteorite EP. Featuring the brooding dancefloor drama of the title track, through to relentless bangers such as "Black Moon" which is properly geared for trancing out under the strobe light. On the flip are two fierce tools that are essential for any serious techno DJ: the acid express of "Spacetime" followed by the hypnotic "Cosmos" and its mesmerising melodic sequences.

Review: The all powerful Drumcode label still does a fine line in big room techno after countless years and even more releases of the stuff. This third part of the A Sides collection brings together a towering selection of names from that scene including Tiger Stripes with the smooth cruise that is 'Altar'. Veterans Pig & Dan vs Gregor Tresher get more intense with frosty loops and dubby hits building a vibe and Wehbba ups the ante with acid daubs and fizzing drums on 'The Next Step.' Nicole Moudaber's 'Come To My Beat' (feat Romina) then hammer home a hefty techno groove.

Jack The Garage (6:51)
Back In Black (7:37)
Review: Tiger Stripes has always dealt in the deeper, more hypnotic end of electronic music. Now the veteran brings the techno to Adam Beyer's foremost Drumcode outlet across two fierce and fearsome tracks. "Jack the Garage" has synths straight from a computer game soundtrack in the early naughties. They shoot like lasers over the hardcore, slamming drums and dark vocal loops add to the pressure. "Back In Black" is more haunting, with tortured sounding vocals, drilling synths and squelchy chords that bring twists and turns every step of the way. Both of these cuts are highly weaponised affairs.

Nocturne (6:52)
Renegade (6:57)
Review: Pretty much all Drumcode releases are colossal and anthem-like - it's the imprint's niche, after all - but this two-tracker from Stockholm stalwart Tiger Stripes is particularly sizeable. A-side 'Nocturne', for example, is as driving, mind-altering and breathless as they come, with Hardfloor style acid motifs, twinkling piano breakdowns, trancey riffs and enveloping aural textures rising above a blisteringly tough and intense beat. The pulsating tech-trance vibe is further explored on 'Renegade', a track whose elongated, slowly rising breakdown - which comes complete with glassy-eyed vocal samples, does a brilliant job in stirring the senses and raising the pressure out on the dancefloor.

Review: Drumcode welcomes back veteran producer Tiger Stripes for his latest release, a label the Swede is no stranger to, following up such lovely titles as Back In Black, Into Desolation, and Insanity. Much like the aforementioned, the Rocket EP is aimed squarely at the main room dancefloor at peak time, featuring four fierce sonic weapons that get the job done properly. From the steely and pummelling assault of the title track and its seething Reese bassline, to the rave motifs which continue on the equally austere 'Fire' and over on the flip he takes you into the dark side of euphoria on the epic 'Song For Debbie'.

Teenage Mutants - "Dark Clouds" (feat Heerhorst & Peter Pahn) (5:54)
Umek - "Footmachine" (5:43)
Review: Adam Beyer's Drumcode remains out in front of the pack when it comes to big room techno. Whether going to new school artists or old school legends the results are always the same - epic and explosive. This time out we get both on one EP with Teenage Mutants going first with 'Dark Clouds (feat Heerhorst & Peter Pahn). It has synths fired from a hadron collider as they shoot over the face of the acid and bass-laced drums. On the flip side is the mighty Slovakian Umek with 'Footmachine,' a dark and heavy banger with flat-footed drums and all sorts of cosmic synth turbulence. Potent stuff for sure.

Review: The leading business techno label in all of the world is back with more of its barreling sounds and big room beats. This time out it is Ramon Tapia on the buttons after a long career making all sorta of sou and techno sounds for a wide range of labels. He goes hard on bulky and muscular opener 'Future Of Mankind' and keeps up the pressure on the more twitchy and paranoid 'Screwdriver.' Things step up a level with the brutal and cantering kick of 'Song Of Sirens' and 'Hold On' then rounds out with a more stripped back roller for the dead of night.

Review: First cropping up in 2012, the mammoth A-Sides series from the titanic Swedish techno label Drumcode charges ahead into its 11th installment (can you believe it?) while also managing to split said installment alone across seven slices of vinyl. This is the fourth record of seven in part eleven. Only gigantic-room techno could justify this waxen audacity; the music is braggadocious to boot, with contributions from Nicolas Taboada, BEC, Avision and Cosmic Boys. The tracks here are as dreamy as they are goosebump-inducing, easily seguing between massive transitions and drops to cathartic reesebound trances.

In The Zone
Amp
Review: It's a swift return to Drumcode for Jerome Sydenham, with the prolific producer delivering a sequel to last December's Trombipolution twelve inch release. "In The Zone" does what it says on the tin, swiftly locking into a brooding heads down techno groove, driven by intricate textured drums, scratched vocal effects and a singular synth throb that gradually increases with hypnotic intent as the track progresses. The flipside excursion "Amp" proves to be just as menacing a peak time proposition with a guttural bassline that twinges with evil intent sitting deep below crisp minimal drums and an undulating rhythmic buzz.
