Review: Voices From The Lake is the pairing of Italian techno craftsmen and sound sculptors Donato Dozzy and Neel. They came together to do a live show at the famed Labyrinth festival in Japan and that's what gave rise to this new now seminal album. It's a deeply meditative and dubbed-out world of delicate synths and rolling drums that change only slightly and slowly but manage to keep you utterly locked in for the duration. It's pure techno that has been remastered for this new edition across eight sides of wax. An absolute modern classic for sure.

Review: Talk about an opening statement of intent - Habitat Recordings are making the fiercest of first moves into the techno world by presenting this triple-vinyl compilation with some serious talent on board. Just check the opening round of tense, emotionally charged tech from Mind Against & Sideral, 'Criseide' and you'll get a feel for the vibe of the whole release. While there's a big-room appeal to these tracks, the emphasis is on melancholic, introspective moods such as the heartfelt piano sneaking into Dyzen's 'Talk To Me' or the intriguing re-framing of the house diva vocal in sad-eyed chords on Ivory's 'There Would Come A Day'. Review: Swiss label Drumpoet has been one of those super reliable outlets that serves up good quality deep house. It has now been doing so for 15 years and marks the occasion with a bumper triple vinyl collection featuring 13 cuts from all the label's finest associates. There is brilliantly left-of-centre minimal from Roman Flugel and Frank Weidermann to kick off, then melody-rich deep house from Bubble Wrap, and an absolute classic from the one and only Herbert who supplies 'Air.' Review: If you're going to produce a box set to celebrate your label's 25th birthday, you may as well do it in style. That was certainly Michael Reinboth's thinking when he put together this luxurious set marking a quarter of a century since the launch of his admired Compost Records imprint. It boasts no less than ten slabs of wax containing fresh remixes of catalogue cuts from a stellar cast of house, techno and disco producers (think Glenn Underground, Zenker Brothers, Francois K, Ron Trent, Moodymann, Mark E and Gerd Janson) and a handful of killer bonus cuts (most notably early Move D classic "Hurt Me"). In addition, the box also contains two mix tapes, a pin badge, bag and tons of stickers. Basically, it's a beautiful item packed full of quality music and label merchandise.

Review: The fascinating (and wholly appropriate) concept behind Ostgut Ton's fifth anniversary compilation was conceived by British born, Berlin based artist Emika. On a night out at the label's legendary affiliate club Berghain she noticed the walls were moving and giving off their own frequencies, such was the ferocity and energy of the music and revellers within. And so Funf was born; with Berghain and Panorama Bar's extensive family of artists given four gigabytes of field recordings taken from within the club after hours - be it humming fridges, creaking doors or unseen footsteps - and asked to make a track using these sounds as their foundation. The results are absolutely stunning, with a disparate yet inexorably linked selection of tracks that range from subtle soundscapes (Emika's "Changing Room") to experimental dubstep (Fiedel's debut production "Doors To Manual"), minimal house (Dinky's "Twelve To Four") and banging techno (Shed's "Boom Room"). Split across seven 12"s, this is an absolutely unmissable slice of contemporary techno history.

Review: Here's something conceptual from everyone's favourite veteran French DJ/producer: an expansive box set containing tracks from his five thrillingly varied 2014 EPs, a previously unheard 12" (entitled Honey, I'm Home), and a shedload of brand new remixes from the likes of Marc Romboy, Traumer and Husbands. Furthermore, the box set marks the surprise resurrection - for this release only, apparently - of Garnier's once-lauded F Communications label. Musically, La Home Box is rather typical of the French legend, including as it does blistering techno, throbbing house, quirky electronica and bumpin' instrumental hip-hop. If that's not enough to get you reaching for your wallet, he's also included a bonus CD and numbered poster. Tres bien!

The tone is sparser and the feel is more textural compared to his earlier work, amalgamating dissonant flurries of noise together with shuffle-proof beats and that inimitable Actress deviance. Presented as a sequel to Hazyville, this rather stush looking boxset includes that album on vinyl for the very first time so you can assess how the two fare yourself.

Review: With an additional run of three club-minded MASSE remix 12"s released this week by Ostgut Ton, the hugely influential label will round up their soundtrack to the Berghain ballet with a collectors box set of six stand out scores from last year's production, six of which pressed to vinyl, with a further 16 on CD. Phillip Sollmann & Marcel Fengler's Din collaboration provide some of the more experimental highlights with the Dettmann-esque "Aetas" and the industrial ambience "Creation" and "Generation", while as you'd expect Henrik Schwarz delivers splashes of flamenco, classical music and rocky pop to the compilation that's unrivalled in production by any other producer making techno.

Review: Despite Traum Schallplatten only establishing the Telrae sub label in 2010, the dub techno operation has been in remarkably prolific form, dropping some fifteen EPs from the likes of Salz, Martin Schulte, Reimut Van Bonn and Sven Weisseman. They close proceedings on 2012 in the best way possible with the rather dashing Archive Box Set, an 11 x 10" coloured vinyl package brandishing some 22 tracks. Most of the aforementioned artists contribute, as do Stefan Gubatz, Tobias Horberg and Deepchild for a Telrae showcase that will appeal equally to the dub techno completists and limited edition vinyl lovers.

Review: For Detroit techno there is Juan Atkins and Carl Craig, for dub techno there is Basic Channel and Rod Modell aka DeepChord. The Echospace label remasters a selection of tracks from a blitz of EPs DeepChord released in 2001. It's a rare opportunity to bask once more in the rhythmically-weighted and dissolvent ambience of Rod Modell and Mike Schommer early releases. All tracks featured on the triple marbled vinyl package either traverse well below the realms of charted sub-sonics or ethereally waver high above the clouds, secluded from dynamic tension, exploring subtle variations in pitched based harmonics instead. A must have for the dub techno lover.

Review: With Kraftwerk gigging again this year, Mute have taken the opportunity to re-issue The Catalogue, an eight-disc box set featuring each of their original studio albums (so there's no Tour De France Soundtracks or The Mix, but you wouldn't want them anyway). This time round, the tracks have been digitally remastered, giving the fussy robots' analogue synth grooves and chiming melodies a sparkling new sound. For those who've yet to investigate Kraftwerk's impressive back catalogue, it should be an essential purchase. From the droning kraut-electro of Autobahn to the shimmering, upbeat pomp of Tour De France via the quirky pop and proto-electro of Computer World, it's a lesson in the enormous potential of electronic music.

Review: It's hard to know where to start with this one. Weighing in at a whopping six 12"s and some rather lovely packaging, Arkives Analog 1993-2010 is a super-sized Richie Hawtin career retrospective and then some. The timing couldn't be better - last year Hawtin revived the Plastikman pseudonym for a world tour that seemingly hasn't stopped for 12 months, and he has professed delight at presenting his seminal music to a new generation of electronic music lovers. There's absolutely no doubt that the Canadian has made some terrific techno, ambient and electronica in the last two decades, and Arkives boasts long-forgotten remixes to dancefloor classics, with the likes of Matthew Dear, Moby, Green Velvet, Dubfire, Francois K, Mathew Jonson and Carl Craig all appearing. In a word, essential.

Review: It's fair to say that few other labels would retain such a degree of consistency and adventure over the duration of a compilation series as Cocoon have done with their alphabetized collections. Arriving at the letter N, Sven Vath's label once again draws together tracks from artists close to Cocoon as well as some less associated across six slabs of vinyl. If you graced Ibiza over the summer season you may well have heard papa Vath dropping some of the tracks contained within at Cocoon's residency at Amnesia. In terms of tracklisting, it's a typically diverse affair with the various shades of techno from Lucy, Ricardo Tobar and Truncate complemented by the presence of Aril Brikha, Markus Fix, Ripperton and more.

Review: This epic debut album from Steve Summers, Beau Wanzer and Melvin Oliphant's Mutant Beat Dance project has been a long time in the making. In fact, they started working on the music - and accompanying booklet of photgraphs - three years ago. Like their previous work, it's a conscious effort to update the anything-goes spirit of Chicago's legendary Music Box club in the early 1980s, where resident DJ Ron Hardy regularly blurred the boundaries between post punk, dub disco, industrial, minimal wave, EBM and proto-house. Over the course of 25 tracks, the trio provides their own interpretation of this analogue-rich, machine driven fusion, effortlessly flitting between a range of mind-altering dancefloor jams, freaky soundscapes, heady musical interludes and muscular, flash-fried workouts.

This monstrous 5 disc release is riddled with techno killers of the highest calibre, from start to finish. We knew that these guys were reliable purveyors of fine electronic dance music, but this is a truly impressive showcase, and surely up there with the likes of Ostgut Ton. In fact, this compilation goes even beyond the immediate techno remit. It's difficult to pick out the highlights here; everything is solid, and even the opening dub echoes of "Prelude" is enough to get us salivating. There's a rare appearance on the dubbed-out deep house of "Skank" featuring Rhauder, Steve O'Sullivan makes a sleek appearance, Delano Smith offers two magnetic pieces of Detroit magic, XDB's "Frost" is nothing short of spectacular, and even Efdemin's glitchy, minimalist deep house seems more poignant than usual. This is a big'un - don't miss it.
