Frozilla & TJ - "Ocean Of Existence" (5:35)
Review: Soon as you drop the needle on PH Project's opener 'Blue Yellow Twist' here we guarantee you will be twisting your face in mock disc guts. The bassline is a filthy and old-school gem with organ chord stabs and spoken word snippets adding the irresistible sense of naughty house funk. DMA then bangs the box with cosmic synths and hints of 90s post-rave, Pilot System cruise on a chunky bit of bass-driven house and Frozilla & TJ go deep on far-sighted chords and bubbly bass. This is unpretentious, functional but fun house music from a small but already well-formed label.

Find Another (5:11)
Review: The all-new Akka & BeepBeep label from the US has dropped its two first EPs simultaneously and Joradesilver features on both. The other is a collaboration with Eddie Logix and this is a solo outing, Social Moment. It is a four-track electro exploration that kicks off with 'Who Want Me', a spacious funk workout with smeared synths and driving bass. The title track brings hints of Detroit to the arrangement and 'Mad Dog Mood' brings lashings of acid and techno to a pulsating low end while closer 'Find Another' rocks back and forth on feathery drums with fizzing melodica leads.

From Above (6:16)
Spatial Bliss (6:21)
Fizz (6:34)
Cloudride (6:00)
Review: Given her South Korean roots, it's perhaps unsurprising that Peggy Gou has chosen to give a platform to Mogwaa, a producer who has long been a fixture on the South-East Asian country's electronic music scene. His debut EP for Gudu is genuinely impressive, offering synth-heavy, mid-tempo takes on house and nu-disco awash with colourful melodies and sun-kissed chords. Opener 'From Above' is a bubbly, energy-packed affair that gathers momentum throughout, while 'Spacial Bliss' cannily combines live drums and guitars with sparkling washes of sound, cascading melodies and a deliciously tactile bassline. Over on side B, 'Fizz' sees Mogwaa add synthesized Gayageum melodies to a punchy electro beat, before 'Cloudride' rounds things off via turn-of-the-90s Italian deep house sonics and more gorgeous, life-affirming lead lines.

He has been serving up his own take on techno for over a decade now and that vast majority of it has come on Degustibus Music. This is his first EP for a while and as ever it is well designed and atmospheric. All three cuts will work their magic on floors filled with serious techno heads and once more this is Fango in fine form.

Track 1 (7:11)
Track 2 (6:31)
Review: Levon Vincent continues to serve up high-grade techno workouts on his own Novel Sound imprint, with releases appearing with little or no fanfare or fuss. Concrete Jungle, his latest two-tracker, is deliciously raw, fuzzy, weighty and sleazy, with Vincent's choise of sounds and arrangements conjuring mental images of late-night walks through high-rise housing projects. A-side 'Track 1' sees him build up a dense, sub-heavy, cymbal-rich techno groove featuring subtle nods to British bleep techno, onto which he then adds shimmering, life-affirming pads. 'Track 2' flips the script a little, with Vincent wrapping a dubby techno groove in metallic motifs, concrete-clad electronics and spaced-out effects. He rarely pits a foot wrong, but even by Vincent's high standards both tracks are excellent.

Review: Packed with percussive energy, thrusting basslines and mind-altering electronic motifs, this collaboration between long-serving Swede Patrick Seich and rising star Sandra Mosh deserves to be heard by far more than the Drumcode faithful. The pair set their stall out on EP opener 'Rhythmic Reflection', where whispered vocal snippets and psychedelic acid lines rise above breathless techno drums and a throbbing sequenced bassline, before opting for a dark, wayward and more intense techno sound on 'Synchrony'. They intensify their collaborative sound further on 'PPMV1', in the process making great use of twisted electronic riffs and hissing ride cymbals, while closing cut 'Soft Light' brilliantly fuses creepy electronic melodies, trance-inducing TB-303 lines, bouncy drums and clandestine chords.

Review: Two right legends of techno unite here for the latest release on Drumcode. Label chief Adam Beyer presents 'Restore My Soul' featuring Chicago hard techno veteran DJ Rush, their relationship stretching back nearly three decades from when they both started out in the' 90s. The title track is aimed squarely at the main room dancefloor; a seething, mental groove featuring Rush's stern vocal delivery atop, before taking the energy levels into the peak time on the adrenalised thrasher 'Control'. Over on the flip, you are treated to a rework of the title track by DJ Rush himself in his typically stomping and orotund style.

Review: Paranoid London are named as such for a reason: the English megacity really does instill a low-level sense of paranoia and dread. So why the hell not lighten up now and again? That's just what this dubious duo have gone and done with 'Suck A Dick'; replacing their usual EP-cover representation of Big Ben with a giant phallus, Paranoid London have successfully drawn an astute analogy between masculine dominance and the totalitarian dominance of the state. Featuring the unmistakable vocals of regular collaborator Mutado Pintado, it's a guaranteed floor-filler, unusually humorous for the pair's austere, distorted repertoire.

Review: Portugal's Norbak probably deserves more attention than it feels he gets. He has been turning out effective and interesting techno weapons for a while now, and at a fairly high rate. He is someone who pairs a thorough knowledge of classic techno with his own modern interpretations on labels such as Soma Records, Warm Up Recordings and Mord. He's back on the latter here with some tunneling techno visions that are grainy, lo-fi, shrouded in late-night fog and perfect for losing your mind to at 5am in some dank warehouse.

Review: Sam Paganini is a long time techno legend and Drumcode is about as big as techno label get right now. Togtjer then make for a mighty force on this new Raev 12" especially as it comes with a remix from the boss man Adam Beyer in collaboration with Layton Giordani. Their take on the title track is a hefty one with industrial overtones, saw tooth synths and squealing synth sounds that makes for an intense atmosphere. The original from big man Sam is a more stripped back and seductive deep techno roller with infectious drum loops.

Review: There's a high-concept story attached to the TerraFirm label that is intriguingly well formed and thorough. It goes like this: "TerraFirm provides the desiccated, toxified, irradiated or otherwise uninhabitable planets of this sector with a suite of services to rectify any environmental challenge." Taking the reins for the seventh outing is Spandrel who serves up bendy, rubbery, body-popping house-cum-techno. 'Floaterz' is a deep cruiser, and so is 'Night Winds Eternal' but with trippy melodies. On the flipside, 'Ornithological Studies' gets more bristly in its cosmic excursions and last of all is the superbly hooky and loopy dub tech roller 'Colonizer Appreciation Day.'

Review: You always know what you're gunna get with Radio Slave, and that is the case again here as he returns to his own long-running and mighty Rekids label. The Berlin-based Brit offers one single, 'Wait A Minute' but it is a bulky one with robust, skipping, funky drums and ravey synths all topped off with a lively vocal. After the instrumental comes two typically monstrous remixes from the one and only UK techno veteran Mark Broom. His drums kick like no one else's and cannot fail to blow up any club.

Review: Fifteen years after first starting out, Munich's masterful Ilian Tape is still finding plenty of fresh new ground to explore in its niche world of scuffed-up and broken-beat techno. The latest to do so is KW, who nails the vibe perfectly here with futurist loops 'Source Mag', hefty minimalism on 'Rats Mixing', deeper linear techno on 'ZFGT0505' and a rhythmically playful thinker in the form of 'One Day.' A superbly stylish and perfectly functional EP, as ever, from this crew.

That's through a mix of big parties, big sets from theirs Adam Beyer alongside his associates, and big tunes. The last of 2022 comes from Layton Giordani and is another one that doesn't muck about. 'Digital Age' is a steam train with powerful and immovable drums and frosted synths before a breakdown brings melodic drama. On the flip, 'UFOs & LFOs' brings some big trance energy with bright, flash synths that will get hands in the air. Two more winners, then.

'Our Freedom' is a peak time anthem powered by a massive Reese bassline and contrasted by serene melodies - to a backdrop of pummelling rhythms. Similarly 'Burn Down' on the flip is a seething, menacing thriller that is unusually complimented by lush female vocals, while final track 'Magic Sunset' goes out all guns blazing; its euphoric energy could indeed work as its title suggests.

His own sound is in constant flux and next up is an out on Bad Manners that finds him in fine form over four cuts. First is the fizzing and visceral 'Trooper', with bumping drums and robotic vocals firmly nailed to the floor. 'Male Function' is another bulky and macho cut with blistering bass and 'Eighty Four' has thundering synths over rugged drums. 'Com' closes out with an industrial edge.

The title track races along at quite a lick thanks to bustling beatbox drums, rumbling 808 bass and bleeping melodies, while "We'll Be Alright" sees the publicity-shy producer reach for the TB-303 on a deep, woozy and intergalactic IDM shuffler. You'll find spacey dub influences bubbling to the surface on EP highlight "Time Travel", before closer "Alien People" sees Volruptus celebrate the "braindance"-era Rephlex catalogue with the assistance of ragged acid lines, dreamy chords and high-octane machine drums.

Review: Kaiserdisco bring some big room techno energy to the one label in the world that is most synonymous with that sound - Adam Beyer's Drumcode. Opener 'In The Music' is a dark and driving cut with an acid tinged bassline over hard, hammering, flat footed drums. Add in a dark vocal hook and you have a real monster. Since then there have been a couple of new releases and this latest one is another high-impact affair on Rekids. His tackle always sells out because it is robust and well-designed and an absolute dead cert to destroy the club. This one is devastatingly simple but effective - hammering drums, deeply rooted bass rumbles and tight, busy melodies patterns that loop and evolve up top. As well as a nice ambient version from Radio Slave, the label head also offers up a deep and dynamic techno rework full of dub swing.

The Belgian powerhouse is busy on all fronts from epic live streams at Formula 1 circuits to dropping her own clothing ranges, running her KNTXT label to dropping red-hot records like this one. It finds her once again bringing trance and 90s video game sounds track influences to her driving techno template. 'Missing Channel' is chunky and hard-hitting with mind-melting synths burrowing deep, then as the name suggests Apollo gets more celestial with heavenly vocal sounds layered up over spacecraft sound effects and linear techno drums. The flipside brings acid and then otherworldly ambience.

Scottish enfant terribles Clouds take up the reins on TPT 096 titled Clubmatter. All the classic tropes of 90s dance music are mashed together in an unholy mixture on the foreboding energy of 'Ravesight', heading into post Y2K peak time techno on the functional main room affair of 'NRG - Density' and 'Corestyle' respectively - the latter's injection of classic trance arpeggios adding to its adrenalised effects. Finally, the Perth drug legends go out all guns blazing on the pummeling 'Liquid Tank' with its foreboding bassline underpinned by the most visceral kicks.

Life Moves Fast
Heart Is King
Review: The concept of 'life moving fast' is a sentiment we can all recognise, but fewer yet find the neighbouring sentiment - that you are faster than you think, and you can keep up. You have to find it in your heart, which is why you have to make it to the B-side of Layton Giordani's 'Life Moves Fast', his latest for Drumcode, to know it. Philosophising aside, we are urged to "stop to look around once in a while" on the A-side's shifting, maddening tension-builds. The B restores our humanity and mitigates the sense of urgency with a more meditative mover, which fittingly revels in more post-drop stasis compared to the A (though it's still not without its detuned rave stabs and crazy-driving bass hits).
