Review: Teste are back, but not without reminding us why they are so revered. Their track "The Wipe, originally released in 1992, is often credited as a forbearer to a style of techno described as bassline driven, and a style long championed by Munich label Prologue. So before Teste release any new music, Edit Select has extended their famous cut so the wormhole experience of "The Wipe" can last all the more longer. The real treat though is "Ascender", a brand new production between Teste and Edit Select which is similar to "The Wipe" only it swaps foreboding sounds for something lighter and the results are transcendental.

Review: Uniting the steely dance floor focus of Tony Scott and Sabatini's immersive, dub-soaked textures was a masterstroke on Motoguzzi's part. It's no surprise then that both versions of "Multiplo" are radically different, or that they both stamp each producer's unique vision of techno. Edit Select's take is a heavy affair that never veers into senselessly banging sounds. Instead, he lays down a steely rhythm, hissing percussion and waves of dub-soaked effects. On Sabatini's version, the dub influence isn't far away, but comes to the surface in a different manner. Lithe back beats act as the backdrop for multi-layered chords and bleeps that gradually emerge from the depths of Sabatini's understated but powerful arrangement.

Review: Those seeking out the genesis of the burgeoning production partnership between Tony 'Edit Select' Scott and Dino Sabatini should look to an event in Paris last summer at La Machine du Moulin Rouge when the latter played with the former as part of the Precept series. Apparently the pair aligned creatively with the first results evident on Phlox, the Edit Select LP released on Prologue earlier this year with the Dino Sabatini collaboration "Survivors Of The Pulse" a highlight. This Mnemosyne 12" for Outis continues in that fashion and extends the run of fine collaborative releases on Sabatini's label, having previously issued joint 12"s with Dozzy and Gigli. There's a sensuality to the tunnelling, dubby rhythms of "Terpsichore" that sets the tone nicely, offering a contrast to the heads down minimalist sound design of "Euterpe" and the fluctuating, delicate harmonics of "Unrania".

Review: Edit Select revisits his Mion alias for the first time in 13 years and releases the Fused EP on his own Selected Edits imprint. The original comes from Mion's debut EP Tanaka and Tony Scott gives his 1996 minimalistic gem a 2012 polish - a solid 16 years after it was first cut to wax. Shifted does away the booming reverbs usually associated with his productions, and his interpretation reworks the essentials, only upping the grittiness. It's yet another reminder that UK techno is back on top and loving it.

Review: Semantica Records returns with a noxious blend of menacing, stripped down techno cuts. Although each release has stood out on its own, the label has also managed to find its own sound eithin the techno world and we are delighted to see Edit Select unite forces with Shifted for the first track, "a38", a classic 4/4 Berlin groove with metallic hi-hats and harsh melodies. Newcomer Rhea complicates the drum patterns on "Nectar" and creates a monster techno excursion for peak time hours. Donor's "Argon" takes a more minimalistic approach and drags ringing bleeps into a commanding kick drum arrangement. "Kxxkxxxkkxx" is as sparse as techno can get and as waves of reverb wash over dripping drums and airy sounds; we can see why this track was given such an obtuse title. Powerful techno bombs.

Review: Double drop of big room techno thud from some of Glasgow's finest via the less than prolific Slant imprint. Edit Select teams up with Alex Smoke for the arid bleep filled relentlessness of "The Retainer", with masked vocal edits adding more than a hint of robotic menace. This sense of menace continues on "Valentino" by Soma stalwart Let's Go Outside, appearing in the industrial haze of the bassline and spreading to the Herculean kicks.

Review: Scottish producer Tony Scott graces Prologue for the first time with a debut album under the Edit Select guise - now as established a name as his old Percy X work was. The Munich label is cultivating quite the reputation for techno album projects, with excellent longplayers from Mike Parker, Echologist, Dino Sabatini and of course Voices From The Lake in recent times and we can add Phlox to that pile. The Scotsman's collection of mesmerising and sometimes big-room techno productions is a perfect match for the Prologue aesthetic, pitched perfectly between moments of emotional ambience and "hypnotic monsters for the dance floor". Look out for a new rendition of "Bauer", which appeared on the Berghain 03 Mix CD and the Dino Sabatini collaboration "Survivors Of The Pulse".

Review: Attention Edit Select fans! "Super limited one sided twelve inch from Anthony Scott MacKinnon" alert! That's correct, Edit Select comes through with a dub reworking of "Signals" a track from his own dark echo-chamber sessions and the results are as finely sculpted a slice of dub techno as you could wish for. A stripped back groove ripples into action supplanted by an ominous growl of a bassline as Mackinnon expertly weaves new elements in and out of focus. As with all good records of this nature it's the little nuances of production that set it apart from the raft of pretenders, and there is an endless supply of those in the thunderous "Signals".

Review: Glaswegian techno royalty Anthony Scott MacKinnon allows us a timely revisit of his 2010 Edit Select pressure cranker "Surface To Air", enlisting Lucy to give it his own inimitable dust down. The Stroboscopic Artefacts main man turns in a masterful rendition that wisely retains all the thick layers of nihilistic pressure of the original, whilst nudging the tempo up ever so slightly and slowly introducing a floating, spectral tone that adds a certain haunting quality amidst the relentless arid bump. The flip has Mackinnon further revising his own work, introducing an undulating rhythmic quality that alternates with intensity as the track progresses.

Review: You've got to hand it to Tony Scott. After an illustrious career spanning the better part of 20 years, he's still got it and doing better than ever. It's with his Edit Select alias that he's really nailed it though and his trademark take on droning hypnotic techno. "Hi Line Extraction" has all of what we've come to expect of late; swirling, immersive pads and mesmerising, minimal melodies yet energetic in the beat. The Mike Parker remix is as intense and mind bending as you'd expect from another undisputed master of the artform. Lastly Claudio PRC shows us once again why indeed Italians do it better, with his tribal, transcendental and downright epic trip to another plain.
