When the 1992 self-titled debut full-length from Los Angeles melodic metal-leaning hard rockers Unruly Child finally saw release, it received no vinyl issue Stateside while the European pressing was condensed and pressed onto a single LP, which for a near-hour long work is criminal by today's audiophilic standards. Three decades on and the project has finally been rewarded the double album repress it always required, complete with a remaster by renowned engineer Eliot Kissileff. Review: Permission To Land is the debut album by glam rockers The Darkness, originally released in 2003. True to their name, The Darkness were dark horses indeed, having been sorely underestimated by the guffawing gatekeepers at Sony, who failed to see any promise in the band after being deemed "uncool", perhaps due to their bombastic rock & roll sound and high vocal drawl from Justin Hawkins. Sony were easily knocked off their high horse, however, when the band later signed with Atlantic, after which the album would top the US Albums Chart, peaking at number two. For the fans, this reissue harks back to their earliest hits, such as 'I Believe in a Thing Called Love', and 'Growing On Me'.

Review: In many ways it's hard to get a fix on U2's 90s period. It's as though they folded time between their breakthrough 80s albums and the comfortable middle age period post the turn of the millennium. However, Zooropa remains a wildly exciting album which saw Bono and his buddies weren't afraid to mess with the formula and embrace what was happening outside of their mainstream rock bubble. There are some surprising risks taken and yet their gargantuan song craft remains undiminished. On this 30th anniversary pressing there's also some bonus remixes tucked onto side four, bringing Oakenfold's equally supersized Perfecto sound into the mix.

Review: Dexys, the band formerly known as Dexys Midnight Runners, put out One Day I'm Going to Soar back in 2012. It was their fourth LP overall but their first in 27 years having been one of the key bands of the pop rock and new wave sounds of the 70s and 80s. Dexys' lead singer Kevin Rowland forints the album with 1980s members Big "Jim" Paterson, Pete Williams and Mick Talbot alongside new members Neil Hubbard, Tim Cansfield and Lucy Morgan. There are also guest vocals from Madeleine Hyland and the album lives up to the band's high standards with plenty of well-written songs and scratchy riffs bringing back the good times.
