8HP drum/percussion synth module
Notes: Originally inspired by audience applause, hip-hop samples, and classic drum machines, Fracture is a multi-particle percussion synthesizer that applies concepts from classic analogue clap circuits to granular synthesis methods.

It all starts from proprietary micro-samples we recorded specifically for this purpose and ends with an engine built to suit these samples.
Unlike our other percussion module, the Chimera which uses impulse rich samples as it's tonal centre, Fracture uses single impulse samples like Claps, Snaps, Ping Pong Balls, Opening a beer can, and many more. It then plays a group of similar samples back in a psuedo random order for unique hits. Density, Decay, and Tail affect tone and how "tight" your virtual clappers are to playing together.

Our goal was to design a clap percussion module covering the range from classic drum machine claps all the way to full audience applause. We ended up with a module that covers a huge range of timbres beyond claps. We hope this engine provides you with the tools to intuitively create wild percussion sounds that bring your system to life in a new way.

B-STOCK: Box opened, product in perfect working order
Notes: ***B-STOCK: Box opened, product in perfect working order***

TOPOGRAF is a drum sequencer with three tracks, that works with a "topographic" principle; it contains a number of drum patterns arranged in a "virtual map"; and with two knobs MAP X and MAP Y you can set a position in this map. With one knob per channel the density is defined; and a CHAOS knob brings some randomness into the whole process. All in all, a few knobs for a lot of drum patterns you probably wouldn't make this way by yourself - a nice source of inspiration and also great for playing live.

TOPOGRAF is the AE modular version of the Grids module by Mutable Instruments. It is 100% identical to Grids.

KICK is a pure analogue Kick drum of raw bass power.

It has three knobs: PITCH for the overall pitch of the sound; with DECAY the length of the sound can be set and with DRIVE a nice distortion can be added to the sound.

With the pitch decay switch the pitch follows the amplitude, giving a bit different character.

And a trigger button is available to check the sound without an external trigger signal.

Complex quad multimode filter - 20HP
Notes: Mad dual-channel filter with two peaks per channel. Chain the sides together for complex filter curves, process stereo sounds or even turn up the resonance for four self-resonating peaks.

Supplier notes:
The Stereo Dipole is a Quad Multi-Mode VCF featuring single, dual and quad peak filter outputs.

Designed to be clean or characterful, the Stereo Dipole is not intended on achieving any one type of sound. From clean frequency-based panning to complex phasing and formant synthesis and over-driven squelchy bass lines, Stereo Dipole offers an environment which is simple enough to use, while providing the versatility to push your sounds into unknown territory...

Comprised of two identical filter sections that can be used independently via the dedicated Resonance (RES), Primary Cutoff (FREQ) and Secondary Cutoff (SPREAD) controls as well as in tandem via the STEREO FREQ and STEREO RES controls in the centre of the module.

Both the Left and Right Channels feature Single Peak POLE and Dual Peak DIPOLE outputs.

High Pass, Low Pass and Band Pass outputs are individually selected via the switches, situated above POLE and DIPOLE.

The Dual Peak DIPOLE output can be routed either in Series or Parallel with the main POLE VCF while maintaining all possible configurations of the Selected Filter Types.

Series and Parallel combinations will provide capabilities such as 24dB/OCT HP/BP/LP, Variable Width Band Pass and Notch as well as other obscure filter combinations.

FREQ controls the Cutoff of both the Primary and Secondary VCF while SPREAD is used to Match (centre position) or Offset the Secondary Cutoff Frequency by +/-5 octaves..

DIPOLE AB is a Quad Peak Monophonic Output, sharing the same Routing and Topology combinations of the four VCF cores.

The A input (LEFT) provides Normalization into the B input (RIGHT), allowing for a stereo image to be created from any monophonic signal source. All four A/B outputs can be utilized in stereo for more complex stereo filtering applications.

Pre-Filter Input DRIVE Control on each channel will push the input signal into heavy soft-clipping and saturation; adding Harmonic Content and increased low end for the VCFs to bite into. A Sine Wave can be over-driven enough to be useful with pleasing results.

RESONANCE may be nuanced or pushed all the way into Self-Oscillation across the entire bandwidth of 20+ Octaves.

All VCF cores Track 1V/OCT and Temperature Compensated.

The Stereo Dipole can fully function as a Single, Dual and Quad Sine Wave VCO/LFO.

The Series Routing configuration allows for additional tonal oscillation capabilities via the DIPOLE and DIPOLE AB outputs.

In addition to the A, B and Stereo 1V/OCT Inputs, the SPREAD CV Inputs may also be used as direct and accurate 1V/OCT control of the Secondary Peak on each channel.

Individual and Stereo Control Voltage inputs including Attenuators for STEREO RES, RES A/B and STEREO FREQ as well as Polarizing Attenuators for each Channel's FM CV input.

Clean/character auto compressor & distortion - 4HP
Notes: Autodyne is a 4hp auto-compressor/distortion featuring a multi-mode side chain filter and NY style parallel compression blend control.

Ratio, Threshold and Gain are all built into a single, simple to use COMP control. Compression gets more extreme as this control is swept past centre position. Setting below centre offers more subtle/typical compression.

Autodyne Automatically Responds to Transients, will glue a mix with ease and dial in the perfect feeling of the program material you feed into it.

GAIN CONTROL to trim the final output gain or offer up some extremely brutal distortion, whichever you prefer.

Switchable Side Chain Filter is provided along with a triple slope high pass filter, in order to retain lower frequency content and unwanted over-compression by removing them from the Side Chain. Input signal is normalized into the Side Chain or an external signal may be utilized via the Side Chain Input.

Parallel Compression BLEND Control mixes the unaffected input signal with the compressed output for even further control of your sound. Compression may be bypassed simply by sweeping this control to minimum position.

Controls are simple enough to match in tandem for dual unit, stereo operation, if desired.

Audiophile grade discrete components and Burr-Brown op amps used throughout.

Stereo thru-zero state-variable VCF - 16HP
Notes: The only module named after a Swedish botanist? Possibly. Relentless synth innovator Dave Rossum pushes the boundaries again with a state-variable stereo filter offering through-zero frequency modulation. Sounds complicated. Sounds good.

Supplier notes:
Following in the tradition of Evolution and Morpheus, LINNAEUS represents yet another Dave Rossum innovation in filter technology.

LINNAEUS is a stereo state-variable filter that provides the unique ability to linearly modulate its resonant frequency through zero into negative frequency, while maintaining stability. With extensive voltage control of nearly every parameter, Linnaeus lets you manipulate the filter's natural response curve in new ways, to create both subtle and dramatic timbral effects. And with a "one-knob-per-parameter" interface, LINNAEUS inspires sonic creativity that invites (and rewards) real-time interaction.

LINNAEUS's cutoff/resonant frequency is exponentially voltage controllable from sub-audio to ultrasonic frequencies, while its resonant gain (Q) is exponentially voltage controllable from 0dB to greater than 60dB.

LINNAEUS's channel output response characteristics are independently and continuously variable from Lowpass, through Bandpass, Highpass and Notch, to Low and High Shelving characteristics. Voltage control of the response characteristics are independently selectable for each of the two channels.

The linear thru-zero modulation is provided by an integrated modulation oscillator and/or an External Linear FM modulation input.

The voltage-controllable modulation oscillator can track the filter's exponential frequency or operate independently. The modulation oscillator's output waveform is continuously variable from Off through Sine, Triangle, and Sawtooth, to Square. The modulation oscillator output is summed with the external linear FM input and applied to the modulation index VCA, which controls the linear thru-zero modulation index from zero to 8X. The modulation index is, of course, also voltage controllable.

Control voltage processor - 14HP
Notes: The Model 156 was likely the first "CV manipulation" tool ever available to modular synthesists. In the original 100 series environment, the 156 was used as a front end to nearly every other module with a CV input. The majority of CV inputs throughout the 100 series do not have associated attenuators or offsets built into the modules, and thus they relied on the 156 to scale, offset, and attenuate the voltages traveling around the system. The 156 consists of 2 independent "voltage processors" Each with a control to mix the two inputs, add a voltage offset (positive only), and then a control to mix between the external CV to be processed and the internal offset. In addition, the "B" channel has an inverting input. The 156 is as close a replica to the original 156 as possible, and is built entirely of discrete analogue components.

Dual sine-sawtooth generator based on Model 158 from the Buchla 100 series
Notes: The Model 158 is a dual oscillator created out of an entirely discrete transistor core. It consists of two independent and identical sides each with a front panel tuning knob, a frequency modulation input and attenuator, and a knob to fade smoothly between saw and sine waves. The RED PANEL model 158 is based off of the original "A" variant of the 158 oscillator.

The 158 was one of the very first voltage controlled oscillators ever produced. As such it contains many particular quirks/rawness of this first generation of synthesis. The exponential scaling of the oscillator is far from accurate, there is no temperature compensation, quick changes in pitch produce a slewing effect, and the saw waveform only vaguely resembles a saw wave through part of its range. It is as accurate a recreation as we believe is possible with the components available today. We performed hundreds of listening tests to find suitable replacements for obsolete transistors, and hand select multiple transistors on each individual unit to ensure that they have the proper sound.

6 channel mixer based on the mixer of Buchla’s 100 series
Notes: The Model 106 is a 100% discrete transistor based 6 input audio mixer.

Functionally, it allows the user to manually mix 6 signals into 1 output (All), or it may be used as 2 independent 3 into 1 mixers ("1-3" side and "4-6" side).

Aurally, the all transistor signal path adds its own unique sonic signature, imparting a subtle lo-fi warmth and saturation to the sound.

Additionally, the "All" output is inverted with respect to the "1-3" and "4-6" outputs. This feature can be exploited to creative effect.

Control voltage processor - 14HP
Notes: The 156 is an accurate reproduction of the original 156, however it's accuracy also means that it's functionality is based entirely on the needs of a cohesive system designed in the mid 60's. It cannot work with negative voltages, the maximum gain is set at 1:1, and the transistor core makes it inherently nonlinear.

The 156M is a modern update of the original 156 that we feel both works within the paradigm of the original 100 series and helps to interface with modern Eurorack gear. Like the 156, the 156M consists of two independent voltage processors. Each side can mix between 2 independent control voltages. This mix can then be offset by either a positive voltage or (unlike the original) a negative voltage. The mixed and offset control voltages can then be attenuverted - which allows the user to set the gain in either a positive or negative direction and can also boost the gain to approximately 1.5x the original signal. In essence, the combination of these three facilities allow you to mix, offset, compress, expand, invert, amplify, or scale any CV source.

Quad VC Gate - 14HP
Notes: The Model 110 is 4 independent transistor based voltage controlled amplifiers behind one panel. Each VCA (or "gate" in the original terminology) consists of an audio input with an attenuator, a CV input, and 2 outputs. The VCA's are AC coupled - meaning that they will not pass slow (or static) control voltages. The VCA's are calibrated to unity (an input of a 10v peak to peak audio wave, will produce a 10v peak to peak audio wave at output) when 5v is applied to the CV input and the attenuator is at approximately the 3'oclock position.

Notes: Unlike the later (and better known) Model 292, the original low pass gate - the Model 110 is entirely transistor based (rather than vactrol based like the 292), and is much faster.

Dual attack generator featuring two ASR envelopes with linear voltage curves
Notes: The Model 180 is 100% discrete transistor core dual channel A/D A/H/D function generator (envelope). A trigger or gate signal greater than 2.5v at the "trigger" input causes the output CV to linearly ramp up to its maximum value at a speed set by the "attack time" pot. Once reaching the maximum CV output (set from the factory at 5v but easily adjustable via trimmer) the module will hold at this level for a static duration set by the "note duration" pot, or will hold at its maximum level as long as the trigger input is high. This behaviour is selected with the "controlled internally" vs. "controlled by trigger length" switch. At the end of the "hold" period the CV output will ramp back down to approximately 0v at a rate set by the "decay time" pot.

Like many "west coast" function generators, the envelope cannot be retriggered until the attack phase is complete, allowing for some function as a clock divider etc. The attack, hold, and decay times can be set very fast, and the module can easily create percussive blips as well as longer drawn out envelope shapes.

32 step sequencer with fractal-like pattern generation
Notes: If we're honest we don't really understand fractals. Something to do with maths, apparently. But that doesn't really matter because we do understand this sequencer module, which is ideal for randomly twisting and morphing sequences.

Supplier notes:
Bloom is a fractal sequencer capable of generating infinitely evolving melodies with a host of musical features.

At its core is a powerful 32 step sequencer with two independent channels and an intuitive interface. What makes the Bloom come alive are its fractal algorithms which can transform existing sequences into powerful melodies, or even generate new patterns altogether. The base sequence is known as the Trunk and can be programmed by hand, or automatically generated with the Mutate function. Once a Trunk sequence is in place, fractal transformations are only a knob turn away by using the Branch and path controls. Each new Branch adds a complete variation to the base sequence and Path determines its passage through the set of recursively generated sub-sequences, offering a unique take on the melody with each turn of the knob.

Bring your sequencing to life with Bloom.

MIDI-CV converter module for Eurorack - 14HP
Notes: Eight-voice modular synthesis? Yes please. Updated version of the Poly splits your MIDI signal to CV and gate for fully polyphonic action. Chain multiple units for even more multi-voice madness.

Supplier notes:
The Polyend Poly 2 module is a polyphonic MIDI to CV converter Eurorack module, and it will change how you interact with your sequencers, controllers, DAW, and more. This powerful module features MIDI I/O plus USB A and USB B inputs, with a total of four Gate outputs, four Pitch outputs, and 12 outs for CV (CC 0-127) signals. And using the Smart Thru connection, you can daisy-chain multiple Poly 2 modules together for even more voices. And Sweetwater was excited to report that Poly 2 is even compatible with the MPE (Multidimensional Polyphonic Expression) standard used in innovative controllers such as the Roger Linn Design LinnStrument and the ROLI Seaboard series. Once you've explored the polyphonic expression the Polyend Poly 2 module is capable of, you'll never want to be without it.

No matter what kind of MIDI controller you use - keyboard, ribbon controller, pressure pad, or whatever - the Poly 2 module offers built-in scale filtering rewards you with highly musical output. Select a scale, and only the notes within that scale will be passed along to your patch destinations. This is different from scale quantization, which forces ANY input to trigger the note its closest to in the scale, and can make it much more enjoyable to use alternative MIDI controllers with the Poly 2 module.

Polyend Preset Module (synth module)
Cat: 732317 Rel: 11 Sep 19
Macro controller & sequencer - 22HP
Notes: Presets on a modular? Sacrilege! Or the best of both worlds, depending how you look at it. We'll probably go with the latter, because this is a super versatile little programmer/sequencer/preset storage module.

Supplier notes:
The 22 HP interface is simple, clean and streamlined. At first glance, Polyend Preset module might look like simple a digital preset manager for Eurorack systems, but it's much more than this. Its vast implications make it a very smart companion for your modular system. But let's start from the basics. With the use of 9 LED coloured clickable encoders, Preset allows you to store up to 9 different CV output values in 32 banks of 32 presets. Yep, 1024 in total!

It's capable:

Program the notes sequences using one of the 32 build-in musical scales. Record the automation using the encoders or external source.

Four modes, totally different possibilities:

Depending on what you want to achieve, there are four modes you can choose from: First, Next, Channel and Note.

Both First and Next modes are perfect for building your unique polyphonic synthesizer.

The Channel mode lets you choose which MIDI Channel is responsible for which voice. This mode is what the majority of users utilise to connect DAWs or external sequencers.

The Note mode translates data received from MIDI Notes C through G and directs them into the corresponding voices (no matter the octave). This scenario works excellent for triggering drums from drum pads or drum triggers.

MFB Digital Delay Module (synth module)
Cat: 695614 Rel: 16 Sep 19
CV controllable digital delay with delay time from 2ms to 4000ms
Notes: The Digital Delay Module is a CV controllable digital echo with delay times of about 2 ms to 4 seconds.

The circuit comes from the MEGAZWERG has been improved in some points.

The audio signal is connected to the "In" socket and is connected to the "Out" socket again, depending on the Mix knob (left Original, right the Delayed). The signal can be limited with the "In" control. The LED indicates an overload.

The delay time is set with the Time slider and can be modulated via the CV Time input.

With the switch "Freeze" or with a positive voltage at the "Freeze In" the input signal can be frozen.

If the "Time" control is set to max. is equal to the input voltage at CV Time about 1V/oct and the range is 4 octaves.

With the "Range" control the delay can be roughly changed in time steps. The Feedback slider adjusts the amount of signal feedback. Using the FB Send and FB Return jacks, the feedback signal can be tapped separately, routed to another module or external effects unit, and fed back into the delay.

The module is compatible in design and bus power supply to the Doepfer A-100 modular system.

The power consumption is +/- 30 mA. The module has a width of 8 HP (40 mm).

Stereo drum mixer - 12HP
Notes: The DRUM-99 module is an audio-mixer that has been designed for the modules of the MFB-DRUM series but also for usage with other manufacturer's modules. When using multiple drum-modules in a modular system, the following processing stages like filters or VCAs often lack enough audio inputs. To route a complete drum-set through a filter, a separate mixer like the DRUM-99 comes handy.

DRUM-99 offers five monaural inputs with individual level control. Tiny trim-controls are used to set the channel panorama position for the internal stereo-bus.

A fixed level stereo-input can accommodate the signal of one or more additional DRUM-99 modules. These inputs can also be used with the DRUM-06 module (Tom Tom) that also offers a stereo-output.

All five mono signals and the stereo-input are routed to the stereo-output that can be connected to two VCAs, filters or other sound manipulating devices. The output may also be used to connect the DRUM-99 to a mixing-console or audio-interface.

The stereo-output is designed for a possible summing with additional stereo-outputs.

It has five waveforms, CV input with attenuator and a control range from 10 seconds to 100 Hz. In addition, the LFO has its own reset input, over which the waveform is restarted. If you set the speed accordingly and have a separate reset pulse, you can synchronize the LFO with a sequencer. The following waveforms are available: rising sawtooth, triangle, falling sawtooth, rectangle and sample & hold.

The output voltages are maximum +/- 5 volts. The module has a width of 8 HP (40mm).

Clap module based on circuit designs of the MFB-522 & Tanzbar Lite
Notes: The Clap-522 Modul contains an enhanced circuit of the MFB-522 and Tanzbar Lite. You can edit and modulate the sound in a wide range.

As modular concept you have the possibility to control the parameter PUSE, SNAP, ATTACK, DECAY and FILTER via CV-signals from Envelopes, LFOs and Step Sequencers.

The parameters are in detail:

PULSE is the amount of claps between 1 and 7.
ATTACK sets the noise level between the clap repetitions.
DECAY controls the release of the noisy reverb.
FILTER defines the colour of the noise floor.
WIDE edits the gap between the single claps.

Beside sequencer generated analogue and digital trigger-signals, drum pads, piezo pickups and dynamic mics may also be used. Here the SENS controls allow individual adjustment of the input sensitivity. Dynamic trigger also changes the volume of the clap.

The module provides the new developed M-Bus connection. MIDI signals can control following destinations:

Trigger MIDI Note #39 or #82, switchable, with Velocity. Controller values for Wide, Attack, Decay and Filter.

The module has a width of 8 HP (40mm).

Analogue synth module composed of three drum voices - 12HP
Notes: The module TT/CO/CL 522 is an enhanced circuit was used before in the MFB 522, Tanzbar Lite and Tanzbar drum machine.

As a modular concept you have the possibility to control the parameter DECAY, TUNE and PITCH (only Tom/Conga) via CV-signals from Envelopes, LFOs and Step Sequencers. The unit can be triggered by different signals.

Beside sequencer generated analogue and digital trigger-signals drum pads, piezo pickups and dynamic mics may also be used. Here the SENS controls allow individual adjustment of the input sensitivity. Dynamic triggers also change the volume, tone length and pitch.

The functions of Tom/Conga in detail:

DECAY adjusts the decay time up to one second.
TUNE sets the frequency of the TOM from 80 to 150 Hz (CONGA 120 to 200 Hz).
PITCH controls the duration and intensity of the pitch envelope.
ATTACK sets the click transient of the Tom/Conga.

To switch between Tom and Conga, a trigger impulse is needed.

For the CLAVE, DECAY adjusts the decay time. TUNE calibrates the CLAVE between 800 and 1500 Hz.

The module has a wide of 12 HP (60 mm).

Analogue module composed of three drum voices - 12HP
Notes: The OH/HH/CY module is based upon the cymbal and hihat sound-circuit of the MFB-522 drum-computer, slightly modified and expanded.

The module was developed as a modular component. Therefore, the parameters decay for cymbal and open-hihat and tone can also be controlled by CV-sources like envelopes, LFOs, step-sequencers. Manual adjustment is available for the parameter tune that affects both cymbal and hihat as well as for the closed-hihat's decay.

Triggering open-hihat, closed-hihat and cymbal of the module is possible through various signal types. Besides sequencer generated analogue and digital trigger-signals, drum-pads, piezo and dynamic microphones may also be used. Here, the controls allow individual adjustment of the input sensitivity. Dynamic triggering will not only affect the sound's volume but also attack and sound length slightly. The functions in detail:

HIHAT: The hihat sound is created by several square-oscillators that are fed into a band-pass-filter. Two decay controls allow individual sound-length-adjustments for closed- and open-hihat. In addition, the decay parameter for the open-hihat can be controlled by CV-voltage.

TUNE: Sets the frequency for all square-oscillators simultaneously. Because the cymbal sound accesses the same oscillators, tune also affects this sound.

CYMBAL: The cymbal sound is based upon the same sound source as the hihat, only that it uses two band-pass-filters that individually shape the attack- and decay-phase. However, the decay parameter controls the length of both attack and sound length. This parameter can also be controlled by an external CV-source. Tone sets the balance between the differently filtered signals paths. This parameter is also under CV-control but does not offer an internal attenuator.

A specialty of the cymbal sound is its tone-input. Here, you can connect an external sound source that replaces the internal square-oscillators for the decay phase. The internal oscillators are still in use for the sound's attack-phase.

The module has a width of 12 HP (60 mm).

4 input audio & CV mixer
Notes: Volts Platz has 4 inputs with attenuators. Input 3 is normalled to +ve for positive offsets (up to +8V), input 4 is normalled to -ve for negative offsets (down to -8V).

The first opamp stage now includes a switch to select x1, x2 or x10 amplification. You can take a direct (inverted) output from this stage.

The second opamp features switchable clipping diodes (LEDs) which clip anything above/below +/-5V. So 'normal' Euro signals go through unaffected. Flick the amplification switch and things gets dirty.

Patch a post-VCF signal into input 1. You can then use a combination of offsets at inputs 3 and 4, and CV into input 2 to explore modulated symmetric and asymmetric clipping.

Scale, offset, amplify, clip. Or just use it as a 4 input mixer.

Polivoks-inspired module for Eurorack format - 46HP
Notes: The idea of the Polivoks Mini analogue synthesiser came into mind in 1990, as the junior version of its older brother well known Polivoks full synth. The aim was to develop a way simpler and lighter device that has less components, offers the same broad capabilities, and removes possible flaws of the Polivoks full synth. As the result of this research a new minimalistic schematic appeared. It has fewer controls that are compensated by greater functionality.

The overall design of the Polivoks Mini is made in collaboration with Ms. Olympiada Kuzmina, Polivoks full synth concept designer.

3-way logic module featuring two internal signal inverters - 8HP
Notes: Dual logic module with 3 inputs for each unit. The logical states of the inputs ("1" = high / "0" = low) are linked together in 3 ways: AND, OR, EXOR (exclusive OR). The three functions are available simultaneously at three outputs with LED display of the output states.

Additionally, two inverters are available to obtain the inverted functions NAND, NOR and NEXOR. The sockets of each triple unit are "normalized", i.e. the switched contact of socket 2 is connected to input 1 and the switched contact of socket 3 is connected to input 2. Provided that no plug is inserted into socket 1 resp. socket 2 the socket is connected to the input above it. This simplifies the usage of the module when only 2 signals are combined, e.g. the logic functions AND and OR have different neutral input levels ("1" is the neutral state for AND, "0" is the neutral state for OR).

In case of a fixed input level for the unused input one of the functions (AND or OR) would work no longer.

Applications: combination of digital signals of the A-100 (e.g. gates, clocks, triggers), e.g. to obtain "gated" clocks or certain rhythmic patterns.

Dual trigger modifier, consisting of two trigger inverters for gate, clock or trigger signals - 4HP
Notes: Module A-165 (Dual Trigger Modifier) contains two separate trigger modifiers, to use with logical/digital levels (gate, clock, trigger). Each half of the module enables signals generated by the A-100 to communicate with other instruments (such as an external sequencer) or is simply used where you want to reverse a trigger polarity.

Whatever signal is patched into the input, inverted by the module, and fed out of the Inv. Out (inverted output) socket. At the same time, a trigger signal of roughly 50 ms is generated every time an edge of the trigger pulse is sensed (negative as well as positive). This trigger signal is available at the +/- output.

Two LEDs act as indicators showing the level of signal available at the two outputs.

When both units are daisy-chained the module can be used as level shifter for gate/trigger/clock signals (from min. +2,5V up to +12V)

Controller unit for the A-155 sequencer
Notes: Module A-154 is a supplement to the A-155 Analog/Trigger Sequencer module. It offers a lot of new features that are not available in the basic control unit of the A-155. The A-154 is used to replace the control unit of one or two A-155, i.e. the section marked "Control" with Start / Stop / Step / Reset buttons and inputs in the upper left corner of the A-155 front panel. If the A-154 is used to control the A-155 the control section of the A-155 is put out of action.

These are the features of the A-154:

Several running modes: forward, backward, pendulum, random, CV controlled step addressing. All modes are available as loop or one-shot.

LED display of the 5 different current modes and one LED for loop/one-shot display

Manual and voltage controlled selection (with attenuator) of the running mode. If no external control voltage is applied one of the 10 modes (5 modes x 2 loop/one-shot) is simply selected with a rotary knob. The CV input with attenuator is used to modulate the running mode with an external control voltage (digital high/low CV to switch between two modes or continuous analogue CV to sweep through different modes). With the combination of manual control and CV with attenuator it is possible e.g. to use only two neighbouring modes (e.g. forward/backward) or sweep through all possible running modes

Manual and voltage controlled selection (with attenuator) of first and last step of the sequence. The range is step 1...8 in 8 step mode resp. 1...16 in 16 step mode

If the running mode "CV Controlled Step Address" is selected the First Step section is used to determine the active sequencer step. Consequently manual and voltage controlled selection (with attenuator) of the active step is possible: the active step can be set by hand with the first step manual control and then modulated by an external control voltage (e.g. LFO, Random, S&H, Theremin, Light CV source, Joy Stick) at the first step CV input (with attenuator).

An internal voltage controlled clock generator with manual and CV control (with attenuator) is available. The output of the clock generator is displayed with a LED and is used as sequencer clock provided that no external clock signal is connected to the Clock In socket (normalled socket). If the CV input of the Clock section is connected to one of the analogue outputs of the sequencer the time for each step can be set separately. Even jumps (or skipping) will be possible as we will introduce the feature that a very short clock pulse will be generated if the control voltage exceeds a certain value. For example the gate row of the A-155 can be used to obtain skipping of steps: the gate output simply has to be connected to the CV input of the A-154 clock generator. If the corresponding switch of the A-155 is set correspondingly in the gate row the step will be skipped.

Manual and voltage controlled (with attenuator) pulse width (PW) of the clock signal. This features can be used to obtain a different gate length for each step: e.g. one of the CV outputs of the A-155 can be used to control the PW. With a PW control voltage coming from a LFO/random/S&H the gate length will change automatically. CV coming from Theremin A-178, ribbon controller A-198, light controlled CV A-179, joy stick A-174 are other ways to control the gate length.

8/16 step mode: A toggle switch us used to select 8 or 16 steps. The "16 step" mode requires two A-155 and one or more voltage controlled switches (e.g. A-150-1 or A-150-8). The voltage controlled switches are controlled by the "A3" output of the A-154. This output remains "low" as long as the active step is in the range 1...8 and turns to "high" in the range 9...16. The voltage controlled switches are used to switch between the CV/trigger/gates outputs of the first A-155 (step 1...8) and the second A-155 (step 9...16). In the A-154 user's manual the corresponding patch is shown.

If two A-155 are used they can work in parallel (8 steps) or serial (16 steps). The 8/16 steps switch determines if the 8 step mode (one A-155 or two A-155 in parallel) or the 16 step mode (two A-155 serial) is chosen. Both modes work with CV controlled step addressing too (see below). In 8 step mode only the steps 1...8 are addressed, in 16 step mode the steps 1...16. For serial operation an additional VC switch (A-150) is required - as mentioned above.

Two sample & hold units in one module for generating stepped random voltages or slicing signals
Notes: Module A-148 (Dual S&H) has two identical sample & hold modules, designed to produce 'staircase' voltages. The signal present at the sample input is sampled at a rate set by the signal at the trigger input, and held at that voltage at the S&H output.

The exact shape of the staircase depends on the sort of waveform at the sample input: NOISE or RANDOM signals produce random patterns; an LFO produces rising or falling staircase patterns.

Two LEDs for each S&H indicate the voltage (positive or negative) of the sampled signal.
