32 step sequencer with fractal-like pattern generation
Notes: If we're honest we don't really understand fractals. Something to do with maths, apparently. But that doesn't really matter because we do understand this sequencer module, which is ideal for randomly twisting and morphing sequences.

Bloom is a fractal sequencer capable of generating infinitely evolving melodies with a host of musical features.

At its core is a powerful 32 step sequencer with two independent channels and an intuitive interface. What makes the Bloom come alive are its fractal algorithms which can transform existing sequences into powerful melodies, or even generate new patterns altogether. The base sequence is known as the Trunk and can be programmed by hand, or automatically generated with the Mutate function. Once a Trunk sequence is in place, fractal transformations are only a knob turn away by using the Branch and path controls. LINNAEUS is a stereo state-variable filter that provides the unique ability to linearly modulate its resonant frequency through zero into negative frequency, while maintaining stability. With extensive voltage control of nearly every parameter, Linnaeus lets you manipulate the filter's natural response curve in new ways, to create both subtle and dramatic timbral effects. And with a "one-knob-per-parameter" interface, LINNAEUS inspires sonic creativity that invites (and rewards) real-time interaction.

LINNAEUS's cutoff/resonant frequency is exponentially voltage controllable from sub-audio to ultrasonic frequencies, while its resonant gain (Q) is exponentially voltage controllable from 0dB to greater than 60dB.

LINNAEUS's channel output response characteristics are independently and continuously variable from Lowpass, through Bandpass, Highpass and Notch, to Low and High Shelving characteristics. Voltage control of the response characteristics are independently selectable for each of the two channels.

The linear thru-zero modulation is provided by an integrated modulation oscillator and/or an External Linear FM modulation input.

The voltage-controllable modulation oscillator can track the filter's exponential frequency or operate independently. The modulation oscillator's output waveform is continuously variable from Off through Sine, Triangle, and Sawtooth, to Square. The modulation oscillator output is summed with the external linear FM input and applied to the modulation index VCA, which controls the linear thru-zero modulation index from zero to 8X. The modulation index is, of course, also voltage controllable.

The 22 HP interface is simple, clean and streamlined. At first glance, Polyend Preset module might look like simple a digital preset manager for Eurorack systems, but it's much more than this. Its vast implications make it a very smart companion for your modular system. But let's start from the basics. With the use of 9 LED coloured clickable encoders, Preset allows you to store up to 9 different CV output values in 32 banks of 32 presets. Yep, 1024 in total!

It's capable:

Program the notes sequences using one of the 32 build-in musical scales. Record the automation using the encoders or external source.

Four modes, totally different possibilities:

Depending on what you want to achieve, there are four modes you can choose from: First, Next, Channel and Note.

Comprised of two identical filter sections that can be used independently via the dedicated Resonance (RES), Primary Cutoff (FREQ) and Secondary Cutoff (SPREAD) controls as well as in tandem via the STEREO FREQ and STEREO RES controls in the centre of the module.

Both the Left and Right Channels feature Single Peak POLE and Dual Peak DIPOLE outputs.

High Pass, Low Pass and Band Pass outputs are individually selected via the switches, situated above POLE and DIPOLE.

The Dual Peak DIPOLE output can be routed either in Series or Parallel with the main POLE VCF while maintaining all possible configurations of the Selected Filter Types.

Series and Parallel combinations will provide capabilities such as 24dB/OCT HP/BP/LP, Variable Width Band Pass and Notch as well as other obscure filter combinations.

FREQ controls the Cutoff of both the Primary and Secondary VCF while SPREAD is used to Match (centre position) or Offset the Secondary Cutoff Frequency by +/-5 octaves..

DIPOLE AB is a Quad Peak Monophonic Output, sharing the same Routing and Topology combinations of the four VCF cores.

The A input (LEFT) provides Normalization into the B input (RIGHT), allowing for a stereo image to be created from any monophonic signal source. All four A/B outputs can be utilized in stereo for more complex stereo filtering applications.

Pre-Filter Input DRIVE Control on each channel will push the input signal into heavy soft-clipping and saturation; adding Harmonic Content and increased low end for the VCFs to bite into. A Sine Wave can be over-driven enough to be useful with pleasing results.

RESONANCE may be nuanced or pushed all the way into Self-Oscillation across the entire bandwidth of 20+ Octaves.

All VCF cores Track 1V/OCT and Temperature Compensated.

The Stereo Dipole can fully function as a Single, Dual and Quad Sine Wave VCO/LFO.

The Series Routing configuration allows for additional tonal oscillation capabilities via the DIPOLE and DIPOLE AB outputs.

In addition to the A, B and Stereo 1V/OCT Inputs, the SPREAD CV Inputs may also be used as direct and accurate 1V/OCT control of the Secondary Peak on each channel.

Individual and Stereo Control Voltage inputs including Attenuators for STEREO RES, RES A/B and STEREO FREQ as well as Polarizing Attenuators for each Channel's FM CV input.

Analogue sequencer for CV's & trigger/gates
Notes: The Doepfer A-155 has two CV rows, each with selectable voltage range, glide and sample & hold options. Three trigger rows and a one gate row. Logic inputs for clock, reset, start and stop. It's even possible to insert external signals per step instead, overriding the CV generated by the 2nd row's potentiometer. The A-155's functions can be expanded by the A-154 Sequencer Controller, as it's an entire control unit with step number limitation, voltage controllable clock generator, variable gate length and a number of playback modes.

Features of the analogue rows (knobs):

- 8 potentiometers (knobs)
- Lower row: Scale (knob), voltage output range 0 ... ~ +6,5V
- Upper row: 1V/2V/4V (octave range switch for exact VCO control), voltage output ranges 0 ...1.0V / 0 ...2.0V / 0 ...4.0V
- Glide time (knob), same as portamento or slew limiter
- Glide Control (control input for switching glide on/off)
- S&H Control (control input for internal S&H, works like A-148)
- Pre Glide/S&H-Out (analogue output before S&H and glide unit, especially required when external audio signals are used as inputs of the lower row)
- Post Glide/S&H-Out (analogue output after S&H and glide unit)
- Lower row: external inputs for the 8 steps (switched jack sockets), control signals or audio signals may be used as inputs (allowed voltage range -5V...+12V), the knobs of the lower row are working in this case as attenuators

Features of the trigger rows (switches):

- 4 Trigger/Gate tracks with 2 rows of switches
- Toggle switches of 1-0-1 type (with middle position), which can be used to send a trigger/gate to the track above or below or to send no trigger/gate (middle position)
- 3 trigger rows (i.e. short pulse for each step set, pulse width corresponds to the pulse width of the clock/step input signal)
- 1 gate row (i.e. a high signal is applied during the length of the step set)

Control inputs and buttons:

- Step (defines the tempo of the sequence, same as clock or trigger input)
- Reset (resets all rows to step 1)
- Start (starts the sequence at the momentary position)
- Stop (stops the sequence at the momentary position)

Step and Reset are compatible to the MIDI interface A-190, i.e. in combination with the A-190 the A-155 may be synchronized via MIDI. The quantizing module A-156 can be used to quantize the infinite analogue voltages coming from A-155 into discrete semitone steps (multiples of 1/12V). Without MIDI interface e.g. a LFO rectangle output can be used to define the tempo of the sequence.

The sequencer controller A-154 adds a lot of new functions to the A-155 (e.g. voltage controlled addressing, forward/backward/pendulum/random mode, voltage control of first and last step, voltage controlled clock and gate length, step skipping, combination of several A-155 in parallel/serial mode and many more).

52HP 8-channel, 16-step-button Eurorack step sequencer with breakout modules
Notes: A-157 is a trigger sequencer subsystem that generates eight trigger signals controlled by a 8x16 LED/button matrix (some customers call it "Miniature Schaltwerk" as it is based on the same matrix as the no longer available Schaltwerk).
The subsystem contains three modules:

A-157-1: 8 x 16 LED/button matrix and function addressing buttons/LEDs
A-157-2: Trigger Output module
A-157-3: Control Inputs module

The LED/button matrix module A-157-1 is the core of the subsystem. It is used to set or reset the trigger event on each of the 16 steps of each of the 8 rows. In addition the buttons and LEDs of the matrix are used for other functions too (like setting the first and last step of each row or addressing the preset memory).

The Trigger Output module A-157-2 outputs the 8 trigger signals and has an LED display for each trigger available.

The Control Inputs module A-157-3 has manual controls and trigger inputs available for the basic control functions start, stop, reset and clock. In addition four functions inputs are available which will be used in future firmware versions to assign these inputs to special functions (e.g. shifting a row left or right by means of an external gate/trigger signal or a second set of start, stop, reset and clock for individual rows).

Notes: The Model 156 was likely the first "CV manipulation" tool ever available to modular synthesists. In the original 100 series environment, the 156 was used as a front end to nearly every other module with a CV input. The majority of CV inputs throughout the 100 series do not have associated attenuators or offsets built into the modules, and thus they relied on the 156 to scale, offset, and attenuate the voltages traveling around the system. The 156 consists of 2 independent "voltage processors" Each with a control to mix the two inputs, add a voltage offset (positive only), and then a control to mix between the external CV to be processed and the internal offset. In addition, the "B" channel has an inverting input. The 156 is as close a replica to the original 156 as possible, and is built entirely of discrete analogue components.

Dual sine-sawtooth generator based on Model 158 from the Buchla 100 series
Notes: The Model 158 is a dual oscillator created out of an entirely discrete transistor core. It consists of two independent and identical sides each with a front panel tuning knob, a frequency modulation input and attenuator, and a knob to fade smoothly between saw and sine waves. The RED PANEL model 158 is based off of the original "A" variant of the 158 oscillator.

The 158 was one of the very first voltage controlled oscillators ever produced. As such it contains many particular quirks/rawness of this first generation of synthesis. The exponential scaling of the oscillator is far from accurate, there is no temperature compensation, quick changes in pitch produce a slewing effect, and the saw waveform only vaguely resembles a saw wave through part of its range. It is as accurate a recreation as we believe is possible with the components available today. We performed hundreds of listening tests to find suitable replacements for obsolete transistors, and hand select multiple transistors on each individual unit to ensure that they have the proper sound.

Control voltage processor - 14HP
Notes: The 156 is an accurate reproduction of the original 156, however it's accuracy also means that it's functionality is based entirely on the needs of a cohesive system designed in the mid 60's. It cannot work with negative voltages, the maximum gain is set at 1:1, and the transistor core makes it inherently nonlinear.

The 156M is a modern update of the original 156 that we feel both works within the paradigm of the original 100 series and helps to interface with modern Eurorack gear. Like the 156, the 156M consists of two independent voltage processors. Each side can mix between 2 independent control voltages. This mix can then be offset by either a positive voltage or (unlike the original) a negative voltage. The mixed and offset control voltages can then be attenuverted - which allows the user to set the gain in either a positive or negative direction and can also boost the gain to approximately 1.5x the original signal. In essence, the combination of these three facilities allow you to mix, offset, compress, expand, invert, amplify, or scale any CV source.

Dual attack generator featuring two ASR envelopes with linear voltage curves
Notes: The Model 180 is 100% discrete transistor core dual channel A/D A/H/D function generator (envelope). A trigger or gate signal greater than 2.5v at the "trigger" input causes the output CV to linearly ramp up to its maximum value at a speed set by the "attack time" pot. Once reaching the maximum CV output (set from the factory at 5v but easily adjustable via trimmer) the module will hold at this level for a static duration set by the "note duration" pot, or will hold at its maximum level as long as the trigger input is high. This behaviour is selected with the "controlled internally" vs. "controlled by trigger length" switch. At the end of the "hold" period the CV output will ramp back down to approximately 0v at a rate set by the "decay time" pot.

Like many "west coast" function generators, the envelope cannot be retriggered until the attack phase is complete, allowing for some function as a clock divider etc. The attack, hold, and decay times can be set very fast, and the module can easily create percussive blips as well as longer drawn out envelope shapes.

Quad VC Gate - 14HP
Notes: The Model 110 is 4 independent transistor based voltage controlled amplifiers behind one panel. Each VCA (or "gate" in the original terminology) consists of an audio input with an attenuator, a CV input, and 2 outputs. The VCA's are AC coupled - meaning that they will not pass slow (or static) control voltages. The VCA's are calibrated to unity (an input of a 10v peak to peak audio wave, will produce a 10v peak to peak audio wave at output) when 5v is applied to the CV input and the attenuator is at approximately the 3'oclock position.

Notes: Unlike the later (and better known) Model 292, the original low pass gate - the Model 110 is entirely transistor based (rather than vactrol based like the 292), and is much faster.
