Most performers don't have a clue about what good equalization can do for their sound. Maybe you've heard the old maxim, "Make a sine wave to get really good sound," or "Make a smiley face, that always works." Sadly, this qualifies as advice from the uninformed. Just as every room is different, every musical instrument is unique. Even guitars and basses made by the same manufacturer, using the same materials, on the same day can vary a great deal.

People provide a good example of this principal - although we are all similar, we don't all wear the same size shoes, or even have the same colour eyes. There is no one "perfect" equalization curve that fits every scenario; equalization is dynamic.

When frequencies from 20Hz - 200Hz are boosted or cut, the bass is affected dramatically, since sounds in this range are often felt, as well as being heard. Boosting frequencies within this range can increase the sensation of power and punch. Conversely, reductions in this range can weaken or muddy low frequency response.

The fundamental notes of most basses fall within the 100Hz - 1000Hz range. Even slight changes in this range can cause a tremendous variation in overall bass energy and impact, as the human ear is especially sensitive to this range. Boosting frequencies around 200Hz often gives the bass warmth and body, without a loss of definition, while boosting frequencies in the 500Hz to 1000Hz range tend to make bass sounds brittle. Often, better EQ results can be achieved by reducing the frequency bands that are offending and by turning up the overall volume, rather than boosting one specific band.

Notes: Does your bass sound dull and lifeless? Sound engineers and professional bass players have known for years that high quality limiting and enhancement makes bass tracks pop in the mix. The Bass Limiter Enhancer BLE400 gives your playing that same velvety finishing touch by smoothing out inconsistent volume peaks. This is especially noticeable if your performance involves slapping and popping styles. The BLE400 will make your tone as solid as your performance.

Even if you employ the best technique, there will be volume inconsistencies in your sound. This becomes really obvious when you switch from finger style playing to slapping and popping. The BLE400 can help smooth out these inconsistencies and improve your sound. How? A limiter works by reducing the dynamic range of a signal, often referred to as compression. This means that loud signals are turned down and softer sounds are turned up, so they more closely match each other. The resulting sound is more powerful, focused and rich in tone.

By its very nature, extreme compression tends to suck the high end out of any signal, so we added a tone compensation circuit to the BLE400. This dedicated Enhance control lets you dial in just the right amount of sparkle, without giving your bass that over-processed or brittle sound. This feature alone will make the BLE400 one of your favorite secret weapons!

The dedicated Level, Enhance, Ratio and Threshold controls provide easy and intuitive sound shaping. Just set the Ratio control for the amount of compression you want and adjust the Thresh(old) control to where you want the compressor to kick in. Then, turn the Level knob to match the volume of your bass when the effect is switched off. It's just that easy!

A first class electronic on/off switch is provided for absolutely noise free operation. The BLE400's top mounted LED lets you know when it's on and also serves as a battery tester.

Designing MojoMojo Overdrive was both very simple and very complex. We knew what we wanted from the start: A pedal that sounds like an amp, with a very open character and little compression allowing even the most subtle of your playing to shine through. We basically set out to capture lightning in a bottle with a clarity that even allowed for complex chords to stand out - did we succeed? Well, plug it in, play one lick, look us in the eye and try to tell us we didn't!

Joltin' the Juice:
One of the reasons why we've achieved such a dynamic pedal is the fact that we use a special circuit that ramps up the voltage to more than 3-4 times the amount of your typical drive pedals. However, we don't use this added gain to squeeze more overdrive/distortion out of the pedal, but to dramatically increase the headroom and dynamics.The result? The most alive overdrive you have ever heard and a pedal that defines all that is magic about overdriven sounds.

Directing Distortion:
MojoMojo is a very musical pedal, but it needs direction. It'll be up to you to integrate it into your gear via the tone controls. Luckily, MojoMojo sounds great right off the bat and dialing in what you want, from added punch or body to added beef on your leads, is fun and easy.

Get Heard:
In essence, an overdrive is something you get from a fully cranked tube amp working hard. Simple, but so dastardly hard to capture. MojoMojo actually succeeded doing this in the most natural and musical of ways and is in fact so 'fat sounding' we added a voicing switch for backing off the bass a bit when used with dark sounding guitars.
