Review: The 4th and final part of Hudd Traxx 10th Anniversary series comes from Ekkohaus, Mihai Popoviciu, Rio Padice & JT Donaldson. Previous parts featured tracks from the likes of Chez Damier, Agnes, Iron Curtis & Luna City Express. Part 4 keeps the high standards that Hudd have set and Ekkohaus steps up to open proceedings. 'Modest Fun' is a peak time house cut with a big sub bass, shuffling hats and lush keys to boot. Mihai Popoviciu's 'Two Minutes Ago' plays a hypnotic Xylophone hook mixed with the dreamy vocal chant of 'Don't stop, let's go' to round off the 'Now' side in a classy fashion. Rio Padice & JT Donaldson close out the EP on the 'Then' side being 2 of the label's biggest sellers to date. Hudd Traxx have been swamped with requests for a repress of Rio Padice's 'Dirty Belvedere' so it was a no brainer for this to make the cut. JT Donaldson's 'Just Bounce' was played by any DJ worth their salt in 2009, and it's clear to see why, as once you've listened once, it goes on repeat a good few times. A great way to close out this 4 Part 10th Anniversary series.
Review: Jaunt Records' 10 year celebrations are spanning a series of 12"s that feature a broad spectrum of artists searching for the ultimate deep techno fix. The four contenders that occupy this Sea release all have their own agenda, but they sit together perfectly. Hiver weaves illustrious pads in between nimble electro drums and bubbling acid bass, while Artefakt creates eerie, fractured acid meanderings to send a shiver down your spine. Hinode does some deft break choppage to create a dreamy trip for the up all night crew, and then Region rolls the record out on an emotive tip while keeping the rhythm section pumped up for the floor.
Review: 6 E.P.II" is the second Vinyl E.P. taken from Headman/ Robi Insinna "6" Album which was released via Relish on the 15th September. E.P.II includes on side A1 Number 9, A2 Swing Now Out Dubfeaturing TarafromIt Rough fame. First track on the B side is called Somethingwith vocals by David Shawwho just released his first collaboration with Jennifer Cardinion Correspondant. The last track on the B side Take Me To The Top Dubfeatures Bozzwellaka Hiemfrom Firm fame. The Dub versions are exclusive for the Vinyl release. Robi's cover design is again in the same line as the whole Album project, including the Artbook, Video and Screenprints.
Review: You have to admire Laurent Garnier's continued desire to push boundaries and confound critics. His plan to devote 2014 to releasing five EPs on five different labels, whilst mixing up the styles, is undoubtedly bold. This three-tracker for the ever-intriguing 50Weapons imprint is particularly impressive. "MILF" bristles with stuttering analogue rhythms, foreboding chords and attractive bleep melodies, coming on like an unlikely jam session between Sweet Exorcist and Orbital. "DSK" sees the French veteran moving further towards his techno roots, while "He" sounds like an homage to darkwave with techno overtones and more than a hint of stripped-back early Chicago acid. Bravo Monsieur Garnier, bravo!
Review: The second of the UNTLD Protagonist Series, by Furz, savours the spirit of Alfred Tailor, an influential figure in the development of the bright young artist, whose first EP is strong and smooth, with raw energy, sultry and primal. The title track is remixed by Laurine Frost, who inspired by the South American hypnosis of the artist, takes it further, developing the dialogue and deepening the percussive structure, whilst maintaining the mystique and spirit of Alfred Tailor. The second original work on the record, entitled 'Torino Soul' is an ode to the automobile of Alfred Tailor, it opens serenely as if racing through the valleys of Cordoba's horizon, scenery rushing by on a hot day. Amidst this, the mechanical metal of the engine revolves in it place, as we are rushed forward, and the voice heard a memory both of the machine and the man, Alfred Tailor.
Review: Valencia based deep house DJ and producer Hugo Giner aka W & P HGG has been deejaying and crafting his sound since 1995. In 2006 he created his own record label 'Cornuta Sound' which has been well received amongst the global Deep House Scene. His releases have been charted by house giants such as Larry Heard, Rick Whilitie, Charles Webster, Miles Sagnia, Harley&Muscle, Efdemin, Julietta, Le Loup, Dubbyman and many more. A remix of the main track made by his very close friend Nacho Marco aka Loudeast (Loudeast Records, Ovum, Madhouse) in an old classic electro way, grows without a doubt to reach the status of "a must, only for connaisseurs".
Review: Following strong turns from Kasra V last year, this Love Fever spin-off label returns to call upon Al Kassian to drop some electro-pop enchantment on unsuspecting ears. With just one recently released record to his name, Al has positively encouraged the intrigue that emanates from Artificial Emotion. "Roboluv" is a sublime slice of house balladry shot through with a curious line in wobbly electro synths, which then really come to the fore on slower B1 jam "Default". With the heavily vocodered vocals pealing out through the mix, it's quite an arresting end result that culminates with the wonderful curio "Broken Embraces".
Review: Following choice wares from tape_hiss and Pascal Viscardi, Love Notes stride into winter with a fulsome offering from lesser-known artist Subtenant, who packs just the right balance of classic acid and modernist techno into the three original tracks on this 12". "Evergreen Soul" looks set to turn heads in the club with its playful organ flex hopping around the punchy 303 notes, while "Artisanal Acid" brings some homespun hardware handiwork to the table. "Know How It Feels" drops in at a slower tempo, but it's D'Marc Cantu who steals the show with a dynamic remix of the title track loaded with detail and shot through with dub.
Review: Green Village has already proven itself to be a trusted outpost for all kinds of adventurous souls in the US house and techno game. Transmitting out of Jersey City, the label now invites Ali Asker to serve up a mixed bag of treats. "Standards" heads into classic electro territory, while "Concatenate" swerves into strange, fractured lands somewhere between deepest techno and outright tropical ambience. "Ascent" is a celestial soarer, all achingly beautiful arpeggios and sub bass pressure, which DJ Spider then drags into one of his knotted grooves. Patrice Scott's version is understandably lighter, favouring his trademark strain of soul-stirring deep house as a framework for whispers of the original to dart around.
Review: French artist Kool Vibe is back on his own Paris-based label KV Records with a new 4 track EP. True to the mission assigned to the label, this release brings us back to the early 90s through basics sounds and elements which have defined deep house since then : fat syncopated rhythms, heavy and groovy basslines, warm chopped vocals. There is something raw and genuine about this record. 'Basics' and 'Back To The RealA' definitely emphasize the minimal and raw side of deep house. 'Tribute' is humbly dedicated to the legendary Todd Terry, whose ultimate knowledge of the art of sampling contributed to shape house music in the early days . At last,'Sleazy Joint (Touch It, Suck it') closes the record with a nasty and sexy touch . Anyway, the whole EP is meant for the dancefloor and the simple pleasure of partying. So forget about the pressure and enjoy !
Review: "HYDRAFUNK is an exciting Detroit Techno inspired collaboration between Immigrant Records owner and label manager Robin Porter and US analogue synth guru Mike Carr. The duo first collaborated back in 2002 releasing the 'Mental Stealth EP' on Immigrant, featuring the bassline and synth heavy 'Fathernature', a track that found it's way on 'Evil' Eddie Richard's Fabric 16 mix CD. Their debut three track EP, Beasts From Below, fuses the analogue aptitude of Mike Carr and Robin Porter's attention to sound frequency, arrangement detail and understanding of the dance floor, delivering an intoxicating peak time package of delight. "Underworld" is a deep journey of melodic synth work and chugging groove that travels into dark territories, complimented by uplifting percussion that builds into a peak time beast from the deep. On the flip, "Immortal Melody" delves even further into moody territory delivering a tantalising array of dreamy synths and jackin' old school percussion, that submerges into an abyss of texture before rising up into a dance floor banger. Closer "Hydra's Dance" is definitely not a token bonus track and is the most dance floor friendly cut; featuring Robin's knack for creating powerful basslines, unique vocals and Mike's ability to create depth and texture with his analogue synth programming."

Review: Taken from the highly praised debut from Maurice Aymard album Between Stars we present the first remix EP featuring new as well as more seasoned remixers such as Roberto Rodriguez, Sasse, Miguel Puente and Jonas Saalbach. On The A-side Sasse takes a dark Detroit path on his remix of 1994, adding throbbing sub bass and soaring strings for a 5 AM dancefloor workout. Miguel Puente houses up Dead feat Colorado and the result is a very emotional house ride. Roberto Rodriguez drops a beautiful slow jam of 1994, full of nuances of deep house, acid and soulful vibes, perfect for the warm club night in the middle of the winter. Jonas Saalbach from Einmusika transforms Different Channels into a hypnotic and dark journey for the modern dancefloor, making a perfect closing for this fine EP
Review: HVL seems well thought of by many within the house and techno community, with labels queuing up to secure his services. Bizarre Realms marks his first appearance on Los Angeles' Hesperian Sound Division. It's an undeniably atmospheric affair, with the Georgian keen to show off his noted eye for detail. Check, for example, the spacey, Detroit deep house-goes-acid vibe of "Escape In Time", or the watery, deep space electronics and jazz-flecked rhythm of "Bizarre Realms". He's not afraid to doff a cap to techno, either, as both the deep and dubby "Sio", and the more ragged, mind-bending "Sforzando", so neatly prove.

Review: 2014 was a definitely a huge year for dance music, with many up and coming artists being thrown into the lifestyle of hectic partying and relentless touring schedules. This also means that those who exploded onto the scene prior are no longer the new kids on the block. A few years is a long time in the life of a DJ, and the first few years are often the maddest.
The Adana Twins are a perfect example of one of these artists, having emerged onto the scene in 2012 with releases such as 'Everyday' and 'Strange', from the off it was clear that they had everybody's undivided attention.' (Pulse Radio) With DJ names like Take It Easy and Friso, it's probably to be presumed that German duo Adana Twins don't take themselves too seriously. That tongue in cheek attitude could be heard on their first productions and remixes. It's now almost almost three years later and the Twins' music vision is constantly developing.
After their highly anticipated release 'Drive feat. Khan' from 2014 the 2 boys from Hamburg are finally back on Exploited. 'Bleeding' features vocal snippets from LA based Human Life. This anthem has been causing massive feedback in their DJ-Sets so far. We hope you like it too. Including also Remixes from The/Das (Life&Death/Krakatau) and Mark E (Spectral Sound/Merc).
Review: Man-or-woman of mystery DJ Swagger has been making a lot of appearances on multi-artist EPs of late, often contributing fuzzy chunks of rave-influenced lo-fi house (very 2017). It's perhaps fitting, then, that the cheekily named artist's first solo EP for yonks is being released by E-Beamz, a label that specializes in both retro-futurist club tracks and dubious production aliases. A-side "Holly Tool" sees the swaggering one put ghetto-house through the intergalactic lo-fi house ringer, naturally beefing it up with some skittish breakbeats. On the flip you'll find the two-step garage revivalism of "After Action" and the scuttling techno madness of "Buck 'Em Down", which is propelled forwards by wobbly sub-bass and sweaty electronic motifs.
Review: Skubi steps into the limelight with his debut release for Modern Ruin, an imprint reserved strictly for the finest in footwork killers. "Brain Music" is basically a modern hip-hop lick with cavernous low-ends and that familiar juke vocal stutter. The same goes for "Wet", a relatively darker, dreamier sort of affair. Remixes comes from none other than Slick Shoota and House Of Black Lanterns, the former opting for a jungle swing while the latter twists and funks that juke into an even nuttier bundle of drums and percussion. Large.
Review: Blast away those gloomy clouds with this wonderful set from the Street Edits clan. Having previously been spotted on Lumberjacks In Hell with Rahaan, it's evident that Sean Sounds knows exactly what he's doing when giving classic funk and disco a tasteful re-rub. "Disco Child" on the B-side is likely the big party starter, but there's grade A soul to be soaked up elsewhere too. "Rock Your Bones" is an especially sunny jam with African flair in its bones, while record closer "Get Up & Party" has a classic 70s Motown feel to it. In the face of overly slick re-edits this is a release with a welcome grittiness to it.
Review: The fourth installment in the Legwork Records saga sees label heads Lance DeSardi & Leopold come together under the artist moniker LEGWORK. For their first outing under the name they start with BUCK SHOT, a techno-soul chugger featuring a remix by the futurist himself, Matrixxman. On the flip, the boys go in for a straight-ahead killer with MEAN 2 ME and a more musical version of the same tune, KEY 2 ME.
Review: Scott Fraser and Timothy J Fairplay's Crimes Of The Future label has had quite the banner year, ushering in various projects from the pair as well as seeking out like-minded contemporaries such as Perseus Traxx. The latest Crimes of the Future release introduces Bulb, another project bearing the label founder's finger prints along with a high profile third colluder in one William Burnett. Apparently laid down at WT Records HQ in the spring of 2014 whilst Fairplay and Fraser were committing Crimes in NYC, Bulb is a bold offering from the trio with two extended dancefloor workouts taking a side each. "Light It Up" pairs ghetto techno breaks with something from wayward Kosmiche studio experiments in deepest Germany, whilst "Dimmer Switch" plunges into a world of psychedelia and cavernous cave dwellings thanks to some dark ambient synthesis and stabbing drums.
Review: The Iceland-born, Norway-based producer, B. G. Baarregaard, channels the great tradition of Scandinavian electronic disco on this delectable four-tracker, maintaining a crisp and funky edge to his productions while making sure every inch of the wax is dripping with old-skool warmth. "Tokyo 1988" stands out with its perfect lashings of boogie rubbed into the joints, while "Kick The Burger" slows things right down for a cool and deadly cruise through electro funk of the highest order.
Review: This special release revisits classic Brothers' Vibe tunes, edits and a never before released on vinyl track. Kicking off proceedings is the 1989 gem "I Ain't Gonna Wait". An early Brothers' Vibe piece and massive underground anthem! Brothers' Vibe distinctive gritty style of groovy house takes us on a hypnotic journey into uncharted territory. Melody and percussion interchange amongst a framework of zippy synths and sinuous kicks. Released under the moniker Silent Rodgerz, the second track "Infractions" saw the light of day back in 2008 solely in digital format on a MixxRecords compilation. Low slung with an acid influence, the cut reveals a distinctly natural groove lead by the classic bassline. The final track is the definition of a house classic!! Featuring echoing words of the great Maya Angelou, "Words To a Nation" exudes a timeless quality, unveiling a masterpiece which stays firmly in your head...
Review: After the late nite, neon-red funk of his last release 'The Digital Fantasy' (which picked up support from the likes of Benji B, Alexander Nut & Ross Allen), Quaid returns with a new ep: 'CFE'.AIn contrast to the strung out, hazy eroticism of 'The Digital Fantasy', here the heart rate has elevated and the signals pushed further into the red. 'Nightlyfe' best illustrates this with its rough hats, minor chords and irrepressible rhythm. 'Body Forms' is a nod back to the hydraulic, locked funk of Quaid's previous releases, whilst 'Tango' offers Huerco S style synths under subverted Prince Housequake-era drums.A'99%' weaves around a driving bass algorithm and the insistent vocal refrain supplied by longtime collaborator Dziko.A. There's a change in mood here, the night has passed and sunrise is moments away. Lights on tomorrow's horizon glint endless glass, dust and chrome...
Review: Jack's House Recordingslaunched by long serving island resident DJ and producer Clara Da Costa, is a new label born out of Ibiza, which also boasts a successful weekly prime time live radio show that focuses mainly on exclusives and vinyl releases, broadcasted on the award winning Ibiza Sonica. Jack's House also hosts parties at the worlds most famous club, Space for Carl Cox. This first release comes from the talented and well respected, Alex Arnout from Dogmatik Records. Alex has had numerous releases over the years on many other respected labels such as One Records and the Fuse imprint. He is also known for launching, nurturing and finding good talent. This 4 track EP fully demonstrates Alex's versatility in the studio by offering 4 distinctive quality productions which can only be described as true house, and underground house music, made with integrity.
Review: Coup d'etat is a collaborative project from Kane Ikin and Harvey Sutherland. Working from their respective fringes of electronic music and produced in moments of respite between extensive touring and recording commitments, the project offers a glimpse into the pair's mutual influences and inspirations; part Maurizio, part Moroder. Kane Ikin, a meticulous producer of abstract forms and polyrhythms, weaves percussive static and drone amongst Sutherland's considered syntheziser work - a leftfield turn from Harvey's brighter moments. Ikin also traverses new rhythmic territory and signals a departure from earlier ambient works. The inaugural release for new imprint CDT, the 12" was mastered by Matt Colton at Alchemy and features full sleeve artwork from Traianos Pakioufakis.

Review: IIB's latest release is an EP from The clandestino crew. First track is a slo mo cosmic melodic acid dub. A beautiful early evening trip. This is remixed by the Beat Broker who adds a few sublime uplifting west coast sprinkles. The first track on the B side is a solid disco tinged house beauty with synth stabs subtle acid undertones claps and a great sample. The final track is Beyond the Sun. A mellow eastern tinged sundowner featuring another great sample. This EP really captures the original IIB sound and philosophy. A real gem.
Review: DX Recordings presents 2 straight up house bangers from Scott Fraser in his Freeman guise and the first in a series of releases for 2015... On side A Dariana in its full extended form with bonus beats kicks out driving percussion and a massive piano break pounds the floor as the daylight streams in through the shutters. On side B, for deeper floors an original slice of 2000's house is re-mastered, brought back to life and released for 2015 with bonus beats included.
Review: Modeselektor are clearly keen to make 50 Weapons' last few releases as strong as possible. For this 12", they've turned to Berlin techno titan Shed, who - somewhat predictably - more than delivers the goods. "Dark Planet" is a thick, tough and driving beast, with chopped-up, manipulated vocal snippets forming a quirky melody line above a thumping rhythm that neatly combines pounding kick-drums and hissing cymbals. This is no-nonsense, floor-friendly techno that comes laden with sly funk. Modeselektor themselves have a go at remixing it on the flip, delivering a far weirder, wilder, stranger and - bizarrely - more melodious 'broken techno' interpretation.
Review: Finale Sessions is really pleased to launch new series Finale Sessions Limited with Berlin up and coming act Arcarsenal. Duo comprised of Alan Mathias and Etienne Dauta, both founders of Bass Cadet Records and its dedicated vinyl store located in the heart of the german capital, they are also active members of the large Underground Quality family. Arcarsenal have already started to establish themselves as proponent of a crossover sound, mixing many influences from jazz, house, ambient to dub and techno. They are always giving a prominence to jam, improvisation and textures work in their studio routine. This EP called « Dark Skies & Wetlands », even if slightly grittier than usual, is no stranger to the rules of the duo. The opening track « Different Planet » is an epic dark deep house cut which develops itself over a course of 8:40. Starting with a stamping ground bassline and hazy atmosphere, the track opens up with synth attacks, dub echoes and slowly brings in a blissful melody that ends up linking all the elements. « Substance Of Arjuna », the following track on the A-side, is a-contrario a short but intense ambient work. Shot in one take, this subtle cut showcases the kind experimentations that Mathias and Dauta can end up doing late at night in front of their machines. The b-side of the EP leaves all the space to « Racoons », one of the weirdest and yet most powerful work of the duo to date. Tribal techno could be a short try to define what they achieved here, but the track goes far more than this. Built on a gritty mental acidic bass and a huge drum kick, the frenchmen bring over aggressive synth work that could sound like an orchestra on rehearsal, pachydermic screams or an overdriven guitar larsen. Underlined by a complex percussion pattern recorded live in their nest and chopped up to the best effect, the track ends up in a looping transe from which the listener might not leave in a normal state.

Review: The Manuscript mission rolls on unabated as the Ukranian label pairs long lost deep house gems with more contemporary productions. Slam Mode's "Morning Side Dr" is a gorgeous cut laden with plush synth tones to melt the hardest of dancers, while Dennis DeSantis' "Leisure" feeds touches of EBM into a mellow, dubby construction that spans styles with ease. Label boss Vincent Inc joins up with Jon Da Silva for "Thinkin About U", which Questionmarq turns into a delightfully quirky remix before Sasha Makin and Suntetic round the EP off with the epic "Drumatik".
Review: The man behind the track that Move D proclaimed "owned the dome at freerotation" , returns with 3 new tracks of deep machine grooves, his first release since 2013's Analogue Mapping. "Frey'd" is built around a synth patch stumbled upon whilst conducting a test on one of bovill's machines with rennouned Synth engineer Frey Smith. Opening with playful ,bubbling analogue tones and nostelgic pads, before characteristic basslines, percussion and 303 lines join in, ending on a spaced out contemplative groove . " L.A.T. " is a more stripped down track, which ebbs and flows around subtle builds, tweeks, and delays, perfect for the deeper late night dancefloor. Closing the ep is Golden burn, the deepest and most dubbed out of the 3 tracks, sprinkled with emotive keys, and underpinned by distinctive bass lines.
Review: "Following up on the excellent 'Stabbed in Konya' EP for Peur Bleue, SORN welcomes Gohan to the fold. Three tracks of dystopian techno for the heads, plus a Boddika-esque remix from newcomers Ikpathua & Paterson. Recommended."
Review: Uber picked up this beautiful mellowed out pop song by Shining Bird for a vinyl release after becoming totally captivated by its warm laid back Balearic feel. Shining Bird hail from Austinmer a coastal town just south of Sydney, Australia. They are a collective of friends who got together over their love of the sea, Australian cinema, Dennis Wilson's "Pacific Ocean Blue" Lp and the great Australian poet Henry Lawson. The second track Stitzing/Wipeout is another great alternative pop song in the same vein as Destroyer with the song blending into a 5 min piece of psyched out ambient. On the flip side Coyote remix Distant Dreaming into a horizontal percussion led dubby contemplative trip with pitched down vocals and a throbbing bassline. Uber continuing its crusade of finding and releasing music that captures their Balearic ethos.

Review: Defected sub-label Tenth Circle welcomes Brighton based Nathan Pope aka Antenna Happy to deliver their first release of 2015.
Following his rapturously received debut 'Pinto' from last year, Antenna Happy draws on decades of musical experience to produce a stunning double-A side. Title track 'Dream 2c' sits somewhere between house and techno, a slow-burning, emotionally charged cut in which glimmering arpeggiated melodies intertwine to create a unique and beautiful cut. 'Wild Stabs' is tougher, an acid-flecked progressive stomper that slowly builds into a maelstrom of seething chords and stabs.
Review: After a bit of a hiatus, Roots Unit return with some deep house hybrids from their bulging vaults. "Learn To Love" is a melodic dub-house / techno infused big sound system warmer that comes from a studio session with former 2 Lone Swordsman Keith Tenniswood and will be familiar to those who tune into Tim Sweeney's Beats In Space show on the regular. "Morning Sequence" is a lovely early morning hypnotic slinky electronic house jam that gets under your skin and into your mind. This latter track is mutated into a heavy floor filler by Mark E in full on peak time mode.
Review: Newcastle-based producer Traela makes his first appearance on wax with this on-point work out for Hhatri, a London based label who have previously been happily working with the likes of Soichi Terada. There is definitely a sense of feel-good optimism and kinked drum programming hovering over this EP, especially on "Hanging Over A River". "You Know I Can Hide" also stands out with its strafing bass lick and space-scraping synth rolls, but the script gets flipped for EP closer "Uyokuthola" as tribal percussion meets with an ambient atmosphere for a most engrossing end result.
Review: Fledgling UK label The Full Hundred continue their efforts to straddle the fine line between the zeitgeist and the outer reaches of pop music with this 12" from Boston producer JLZUZ MILLION. The alter ego of 20 year old Joseph Zucco, JLSUS MILLION has by and large become known for his behind the buttons work, adding some production weight to last year's Illusions Of record by Charlie XCX's as well as collaborating with Chicago rapper Sasha Go Hard. Error is quite a watershed moment for Zucco then, and the three original cuts suggest JLSUS MILLION is comparable to a turbo charged Clams Casino. Review: The recent news that the Jealous God label is planning to wind down was slightly softened by the impressive selection of releases that will appear before it does. Chief amongst those was this EP from Champagne Mirrors, an alias of Blackest Ever Black contributor Alex Barnett. Extended Communication Techniques is as dark, unsettling and creepy as you'd expect, with occasional shards of light - a headline melody here and there, with similarly rare slivers of woozy electronic positivity - helping to balance out Barnett's dystopian tendencies. It's one of those sets that benefits from repeated listens, with each successive play revealing additional layers of moody detail.
