Review: The Hartnoll Brothers have decided to remaster and reissue their eponymous 1991 debut album - frequently referred to as 'The Green' album for obvious reasons. Amongst the numerous editions is this delicious box set, which compliments the fantastic original album (stretched across two slabs of wax), with a slipmat, a 60-page hardback book of photos and fresh liner notes, and an additional double-album of rarities and unreleased cuts from the period. It's this latter item, which includes B-sides, non-album singles (hello 'Satan') and sought-after remixes (Sasha's legendary version of 'Midnight' and the barely known 'Rhyme and Reason' take on 'Satan'), which makes the box set so alluring to fans. Basically, it's the ultimate edition of a British dance classic.

Review: Dave Clarke's Red Series remains a vital benchmark in the evolution of UK techno. Released between 1993 and 1996, the three-volume run even managed to brush the UK top 40 back in the good old days when anything felt possible. Tracks like 'Wisdom To The Wise' will forever be etched in the make up of techno, and for very good reason. Now the whole series is being given a lavish reissue treatment which takes in all the original releases along with additional discs of rare, archival tracks and remixes, all bundled up in a box with a booklet and autographed by the Baron himself.

Notes: MOOER has unveiled its latest effect pedal innovation, the MVP1 AUTUNER vocal processor. Unlike most of MOOER's products, this pedal is designed primarily for use with vocals, offering precise pitch correction and exceptional vocal enhancement features. However, MOOER hasn't forgotten about its primary audience, so AUTUNER still provides features that will interest guitarists.

Due to the pedal's primary focus on vocals, the device includes several features specifically designed for microphone usage. This includes XLR input and output, in addition to support for 48V phantom power, ensuring that the pedal supports both dynamic and condenser microphones. However, AUTUNER also includes standard 1/4" guitar inputs and outputs, along with convenient footswitch control to switch between mixed or individual signals.

The pitch correction features behind AUTUNER are highly versatile. With an LED button, users can choose between flat, warm, and bright vocal tones, each indicated by a different colour. Once a tone has been chosen, the 'correction' dial can be used to define the sensitivity of the pitch correction. Users can also press and hold the left footswitch to trigger the pitch correction's vocal synthesizer mode.

AUTUNER's versatility shines particularly brightly thanks to its built-in effects modules. The first of these is delay; the delay module can be can controlled with its dedicated dial, with users having the option to choose between tape delay, digital delay, slapback delay, or bypass. The pedal's left footswitch serves as a tap switch, which allows the user to determine the speed of the delay module.

A reverb module is also featured within AUTUNER. This too has its own dedicated dial, which can be used to morph between room delay, hall delay, and plate delay. Whilst the pitch correction features of the pedal are limited only to vocals, these delay and reverb modules ensure that the pedal has plenty of dedicated features to offer MOOER's guitarist fanbase.

As is common with MOOER products, AUTUNER features a wide range of control mechanisms. In addition to the left footswitch's dual functionality, the right footswitch also acts as a bypass for the pitch correction and effects, whilst still ensuring the tone processing remains active. The pedal's tonal enhancements can then be fully bypassed with the 'flat' tone option.

In addition to its core features, the MVP1 AUTUNER also includes a gain dial, a 48V phantom power switch for internal microphone amplification, a grounding switch, and a DC 9V 500mA power input. Overall, the features of this pedal ensure that musicians have everything they need for impressive pitch correction, vocal synthesis, and special processing, whilst ensuring that they never have to rely on external batteries.

The OC-5's Vintage mode brings you the OC-2's iconic mono sound, coupled with improved response thanks to the new tracking engine. Enhanced Poly Mode

The OC-5 also features an evolved version of the smart Poly mode first introduced with the OC-3 Super Octave, letting you play full chords with octave effects. The variable Range knob restricts the effect to the lower notes on your instrument, perfect for playing octave bass lines alongside normal chords and melodies in the higher registers. And with the new tracking refinements, it's even possible to isolate the octave effect to the bottom note in a chord-just turn the Range knob to the "Lowest" setting.

Extended Range with Octave Up

Another cool OC-5 enhancement is the new octave-up effect, which is available in both Vintage and Poly modes. Simply twist the dedicated +1 OCT knob to bring in the desired effect level. Use the octave-up effect on its own for faux 12-string sounds and unique solo tones, or blend it with the octave-down effects for extended chord voicings and super-fat leads.

Review: American singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen is about as big a music star as there could possible be. It all began in January 1973 when the legendary rocker dropped his debut album, Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ which is now back in print in several different formats as a "hybrid" remastered version that brings together both regular and "super audio" versions. It's a still superb album that laid out The Boss's sonic vision and was noted by Rolling Stone critic Lester Bangs for being dexterous and on point socially. Bluesy rockers, semi-acoustic treats, funky workouts and plenty more all feature on this limited edition 180 gram audiophile vinyl.

Review: While they might be best known for one mega-hit, Pete Burns' Dead Or Alive were much more than 'You Spin Me Round'. Modes:

Deep - A dark ambient reverb with an added low octave, perfect for creating murky, cavernous sustain or adding a touch of moody atmosphere.
Lush - A breathy, expansive reverb featuring ultra-long sustain. Perfect for generating silky pads and immersive soundscapes with every note.
Haze - A textured, lo-fi reverb featuring distortion, sample rate reduction, and a resonant bandpass tone control, great for vintage or experimental tones.
Decay: Control the amount of reverb decay time. Left is the minimum and right is the maximum amount of time.
Tone: Shapes the overall tonality of the reverb. On Deep and Lush this controls the cutoff of a synth-style lowpass filter. On Haze this controls the width of a resonant bandpass filter, filtering both high and low end at the right, and allowing more high and low to pass through at the left.
Mix: Control the mix of the effect and the original clean signal. All the way to the left outputs only the fully clean signal, and all the way to the right outputs only the affected Reverb signal.
Slide Switch - The slide switch allows you to change between three distinct Reverb algorithms.

Trails Mode - The Fundamental Ambient Reverb comes with trails mode active by default, to disengage trails mode hold down the bypass stomp switch when applying power to the pedal. Once the LED flashes it indicates that trails mode is turned off. To re-engage trails mode, repeat the process, and wait for the LED to turn dark, indicating that trails mode is back on. With trails mode active, your reverb decay will fade off naturally after turning the pedal off. With trails mode inactive, the decay abruptly cuts off when you turn off the pedal.

Notes: Precision buffered multiple and precision adder

Helium packs a lot of utility into a small package: three 1-to-3 precision buffered multiples and one precision adder. Helium works exceptionally well with both CV and audio signals and the beautiful blue and red LEDs give you immediate feedback on the signals passing through.

Unlike some other so-called "precision" mults & adders out there, Helium features high-quality, low-offset, low-drift op-amps and 0.05% thin film resistors. You'll have a hard time finding another mult on this level.

Review: Sonic Transmutations is an extended compilation album celebrating over three decades of Clone Records. Marking the 31 years - which is coincidentally the national Dutch telephone code - the 8x12" inch box set draws together veteran talent and emerging iconoclasts, transmitting a frequency rooted the imprint's signature blend of essential dance music while journeying off into territories unknown. In a constant state of unfolding, morphing across phases of matter, Sonic Transmutations purveys an elemental energy that stands in testament to Clone's enduring legacy and explorations of sounds and structures.

Notes: Module A-147-5v contains four voltage controlled low frequency oscillators (VCLFO) with triangle waveform outputs. All LFOs share a common frequency control. Each of the LFOs 2, 3 features a Delta control which is used to shift the frequency of the LFO in question up or down. With the Delta controls at center positions the frequencies of all LFOs are roughly the same. To control the frequencies by external control voltages four CV inputs are available which follow roughly the 1V/oct standard.

The module has these controls and in/outputs available:

Control F: manual control of the frequency for all four LFOs
Control Delta F2, F3 and F4: manual control of the frequency shift up/down for the LFO in question
Sockets CV 1...4: Frequency control voltage inputs (normalled from top to bottom)

Application examples:

Generation of four triangle modulation signals with a common frequency control for all LFOs and individual controls for the frequency deviation of each LFO, manually adjustable and controllable by external control voltages
Generation of modulation signals for polyphonic FM/PWM applications. For this the four CV inputs are connected to the same control voltages which are used to control the frequencies of the corresponding VCOs. That way each LFO follows the frequency of the associated VCO with the possibility to control the frequency of all VCOs (control F) and the frequency deviations (Delta F controls). For the simultaneous modulation depth control the Quad VCA module A-130-4 is recommended.
Generation of complex modulation signals by summing up the outputs (e.g. by means of a mixer module A-138n / A-138i / A-138j)

Technical notes:

The level of the triangle outputs is about +/-5V (10Vpp)
The manually adjustable frequency ranges from about 0.025 Hz (about 40 seconds) to about 50 Hz with the delta controls of LFOs 2, 3 and 4 about center position
The frequency deviations adjusted by the delta controls are about +/-1:5. Example: with 1 Hz in center position the frequency shift ranges from about 0.2 Hz in position -5 to about 5 Hz in position +5 (1 Hz/5 = 0.2 Hz, 1 Hz*5 = 5 Hz).

When each CV input is patched to it's own control voltage each LFO is controlled individually by it's own CV. In this case CV1 controls only the frequency of LFO1.
Internally the rectangle outputs are available at four terminals (typ level +/-10V or 20Vpp). If required they can be wired to four sockets of a DIY breakout module made by the user, 1k protection resistors are recommended to avoid short circuits. If lower levels are required passive attenuators (voltage dividers) may be used.
Internally is even an (unbufferd) triangle sum signal available. For this each of the four triangle outputs is simply connected to the sum output terminal via a 47k resistor. This output has high impedance and should be buffered or amplified to avoid level drop when the load changes (e.g. by means of an A-180-3 or A-180-4 or A-183-3).

By changing the values of the capacitors in the LFO circuits even other frequency ranges are possible (e.g. Quad VCO to form kind of a cloud VCO). Pay attention that the accuracy of the CV input scales is not sufficient for precise 1V/oct VCO applications. The 1V/Oct scales cannot be adjusted and the circuits are not temperature compensated.

Notes: The Blumes is an overdrive based on the Plumes circuit that is ideal for bass players and all purveyors of low-end. Packing the latest BOSS DSP and updated algorithms, the RV-6 gives you eight highly musical reverb effects in one compact pedal. Dynamic mode automatically adjusts the effect depth to your playing touch, providing deep, immersive reverb that won't turn your tone to mud. The RV-6 makes getting high-quality reverb sounds with your guitar quick and easy- just select a sound mode, tweak the knobs to taste, and play. But while its operation is simple, the RV-6's sound is rich and sophisticated. Under the hood, each mode includes a huge array of detailed reverb parameters, all perfectly tuned for guitar by the BOSS engineers with direct input from many pro players and sound engineers. Even as you adjust the selected mode with the Time and Tone knobs, many parameters are simultaneously adjusted inside to create the ideal voicing for every setting.

Analogue Dry Tone and Versatile I/O

While the RV-6's reverb effects are high-tech digital, you can rest assured that your straight guitar tone always remains pure analogue as the effect is blended in. Convenient auto-switching jacks let you integrate with any pedal chain, with support for mono, mono-to-stereo, and stereo-to-stereo operation. And by plugging into the B input only, the RV-6 outputs a 100-percent wet sound, great for working with more complex rigs that employ parallel processing chains and mixers. There's also a jack for connecting an optional expression pedal, allowing you to control the effect level in real time as you play.

Reverb Modes

+DELAY - This is reverb combined with delay. The synergistic effect provides rich reverberation.
SHIMMER- This reverb is distinctive for its sparkling high-frequency range. It produces fantasy-like reverberation wrapped in spacious overtones.
DYNAMIC- This reverb automatically sets the depth of the effect according to your performance. It produces deep reverberation without blurring the overall shape of your playing.
ROOM- This reverb simulates the reverberation of a room. It produces warm reverberation.
HALL- This reverb simulates the reverberation of a hall. It produces clear and spacious reverberation.
PLATE- This simulates a plate reverb (a reverb unit that uses the vibration of a metal plate). It produces metallic-sounding reverberation with an extended high-frequency range.
SPRING- This simulates a spring reverb built into a guitar amp.
MODULATE- This reverb adds modulation to hall reverb, producing extremely good-feeling reverberation.
