Review: Fresh from fine outings on Sukhumvit and Blind Box, Diego Krause serves up a record for Rawax that is, quite literally pale blue (and helpfully titled "Pale Blue", in case you're colour-blind). The vibe is warm, groovy and intoxicating throughout, with Krause wrapping springy and tactile techno grooves with a variety of warm and futuristic melodic elements. This attractive formula is arguably most potent on opener "Artefacts" and the shimmering "Pale Blues", though the funkier and - whisper it - disco-flecked "Heritage" is also rather impressive. Fundamentally, all four tracks strike the right balance between low-end dancefloor grunt and heady, life-affirming melodic bliss.

Review: Last summer, long-serving techno/house fusionist Diego Krause made his first appearance on Rawax. Here he returns to the well-loved imprint with the first EP in a series he's calling "State Of Flow". Opener "Stumblers" is wonky and intoxicating, with Krause wrapping glitch-fired beats and rumbling sub-bass in metallic noises and trippy, outer-space motifs. Over on side B, "Human Spirit" offers a deeper but no less percussively punchy dancefloor workout, while "Operate" is an exercise in smooth sub-bass, bouncy drums, hypnotic tech-house electronics and mind-altering effects. All three tracks are rather tasty, suggesting that Krause's "State Of Flow" series will be one to watch over the months ahead.

Review: Oh yes, Rawax casual Ricardo Miranda comes through with his latest EP for the German raw house label, and as you'd expect, it's four tracks of grizzly percussion stabs and warm low-ends. "Altered Feel" is an ode to much of Chicago Trax's output thanks to its deep, jacking tone, while "Deep Wax" is a little funkier and loungier in tone. On the flip, "Up On The Scene" goes for the old-school vibes, whereas its drum version draws more heavily on the percussion in what is a serious tool for the more adventurous of you DJ's. Dopeness guaranteed.

Review: After a dalliance with Delsin late last year, Siberian producer Unbroken Dub returns to his regular home of Rawax for the Deepfrozen Soil EP. "Mansi Song" places a simple phased bassline and undulating textures in an echo chamber environment, keeping its kicks low in the mix, while "Deepfrozen Soil" takes an even more sedate approach, as a simple kick drifts through a glacier of weeping pads. On the flip, "Low Freq Vibes" offers a similarly placid take on house, but its "Dub Layer" that impresses most, containing some particularly Basic Channel-inspired textures, as malleable chords bounce around inside an increasingly narrow confine.

Review: From their Frankfurt base the DBH network seem able and willing to tap into any number of previously unheralded East European talents across the house and techno spectrum, with Anton Mayer the latest example. The producer from Arkhangelsk has previously featured on several Housewax releases and is now a granted a full solo turn on the Rawax label. The Raw Story EP follows the established Rawax lineage of bring firmly rooted in the Motor City Sound, though it's the jagged melodic textures that gather storm like on opening track "Swell Strings" that create a real impression. Similarly, the way loose clouds of warm analogue clouds combine with the deep orchestral touches of "Raw Stuff" demonstrate a true vividness and colour to Mayer's production palette that is far beyond mere pastiche.

Review: Germany's Rawax, aside from its reissue offshoot, has usually released up and coming artists in the house and techno domains but the label are back with something pretty special for the first chapter of their newly crowned Aira series. Ricardo Villalobos, a man who needs no introduction in the minimal techno game and who sells clubs out week in and week out all over the world, drops "Rabbit Over", a familiarly itchy Villalobos groove with intricate melodic patterns and a driving beat structure. On the flip, Oskar Szafraniec's "Vitality" is similarly stripped and jagged around the edges, a monstrous bassline dominating its bottom-end. Another fine slice of Rawax and an impressive evolution from the label!

Review: Romanian minimal hero Barac Nicolae is back, so get excited! This hero of Bucharest's new guard follows up the tremendous Theory EP (with Vincentiulian) last year which inaugurated his own Theory imprint but this time he appears for Frankfurt's Rawax for the fourth instalment of their Aira series. On the first side "Echoes" is dubby and atmospheric featuring Nicolae's always immaculate production standards with cerebral and hypnotic elements. On the flip "Surrounding Desert" is more intense but still ploughs away in reductionist fashion with some completely mindbending and tripped out sound design on top of his tightly crafted groove.

Review: Back in 2020, hip-hop, breaks and electro stalwart Freddy Fresh decided to turn his hand to vintage-sounding house and techno, self-releasing a set of tracks called The Harvest online. Rawax were impressed, with the popular label deciding to put the pick of the cuts out on vinyl. Title track 'The Harvest' sets the tone, with the veteran producer wrapping a house-tempo, post-electro groove in sustained organ chords, spacey synths and bubbly electronic melodies. 'House-Spanner' sees him doff a cap to The Middle of Nowhere-era Orbital (seriously, it's very reminiscent of the Hartnoll brothers' late '90s output), while 'Misunderstood' is a woozy, delay-laden chunk of early morning U.S deep house. Elsewhere, the deep house dreaminess continues on the interestingly swung 'Twain', and clonking, TB-303 speckled 'Horlywagon'.

Review: Germany's workhouse Rawax label is the sort of imprint that provides busy DJs with just the sort of tools they need to do their job. This latest drop veers away from the more traditional house it most often deals in to dip into sleek minimal territory. Giorgio Maulini is the man in control and 'Night Roads' is just like a nocturnal cruise down the motorway, with wispy neons flying past like headlights and a linear groove extending out below you like miles of tarmac. The rest of the EP remains just as heady and well-designed, with supple grooves and deft synths colouring in the small hours of the morning.
