Pendulum - "Fasten Your Seatbelt" (feat The Freestylers)
Review: 'Tarantula' has had accolades from all corners of d&b with it being classed as the biggest tune on the circuit right now, as it was at the Miami Winter Music Conference. The added skills of Fresh and vocals from Tenor Fly & Spyda from the Raw Hill Cru add to the spice. On the other side 'Fasten Your Seatbelts' is in collaboration with the Freestylers, who are no strangers to the Top 20 and has been making a massive splash in the breakbeat market and also at Radio 1, a huge stomper of a tune.
Review: Suitable for many DJs beyond drum & bass, this track has a dark Ibiza type feel to it. 'Flamenco' is another Sub Focus track that needs little introduction having been on dub as key favourite of with all the A-list DJs.
Review: Always pushing the boundaries of dance music, Freestylers return with an incredible new single from their forthcoming "Adventures In Freestyle" album, to be released on Against The Grain. "Painkiller" is a collaboration featuring d&b dons Pendulum and as we previously witnessed on "Fasten Your Seat Belts", this is an awesome combination. MC Sir Real adds a rawkus vocal to their uncompromising use of rocked out guitars and thumping basslines, creating a sure fire classic. Backed with album track "Jump & Twist". The remix 12" sees "Painkiller" receiving a blinding remix from one of d&b hottest producers, Noisia, and like Pendulum before them, Noisia have shaken the scene senseless with sheer sonic strength. Their production style transforms "Painkiller" into a grimy tear out. The other side also sees a floor smashing breaks mix from Ed Solo & School of Thought.
Review: Taken from their forthcoming "Adventures In Freestyle" album to be released later this year, Freestylers team up with Breakbeat Kaos' Pendulum and vocalist Mc Sir Real on this raucous, rocked out production that features rough guitar riffs, tough stepping beats and quirky bits of synth action. On the flip "Jump & Twist" is a rocking breakbeat anthem with reggae vibes, dope female vocal samples, skanking synth rhythms, a touch of a rasta vocal and a huge building over the top explosive moment.
Top Shotta (feat Rico, Trim & Scratchy (Roll Deep))
Review: Not content with Pendulum causing havoc in the National Top 75 album chart, and their Slam single hitting Radio 1, Breakbeat Kaos dominance of drum & bass continues apace with this massive club anthem from Chase & Status. Duppy Man features the instantly recognisable vocals of Capleton and has been a major fixture in the sets of all the top drum & bass DJs from Andy C to Hype to Swift to Friction to Shimon to Nicky Blackmarket and the label bosses, Fresh & Adam F. Already supported on Radio 1 by Mary Ann Hobbs, Seani B, Heartless Crew, Grooverider, and weekly garage/ragga/hip hop shows this looks set to go off like dynamite. Top Shotta on the flip showcases the talents of Roll Deep (currently riding the crest of their own wave with single The Avenue hitting the Top 12 of the National chart). DJ support on this grimey number comes from Rossi B, Cameo, Richie Vee and Logan Sama from Kiss FM all giving prominence in their sets.
