Review: Wilkinson's smash hit 'Afterglow' is given a limited repress on a pretty slice of golden marbled wax, harkening back to a time when the drum n' bass artist lay just on the cusp of stardom. The original press of 'Afterglow', arguably one of the most important songs to galvanize drum n' bass as a truly Top-40-worthy style for the 2010s, has long been out of print. However, that never stopped the song from reaching public stardom, in large part thanks to its contributing vocals from Becky Hill and its lesser known jump-up B-side, 'Perforation'.

Since then, anticipation has been building for this belated follow-up. Happily, there are no signs of the duo succumbing to "difficult second album" syndrome; in fact, "Only In Dreams" is, if anything, even more effervescent than their lauded debut. It's still rooted in drum & bass and dubstep, but this time round they've blurred the boundaries between disparate styles of bass music even further, with an impressive list of guests and collaborators - Kuuro, Rae Hall, Zeds Dead, Muzzy and Modestep included - taking turns to make their presence felt.

Review: Last year's Lasers Not Included album confirmed what many had suspected; Wilkinson is a bonafide star producer with the capacity to drive Drum N Bass back into the commercial force it once was. It's been a rapid rise for the South West Londoner who used to spend his days potting plants in Ronnie Wood's favourite garden centre and the foundations laid by his LP are expanded on with this new 12" for RAM. "Dirty Love" sees Wilkinson team up with silky voiced UK vocalist Talay Riley and it's a partnership that should be explored more as the former's production is the perfect accompaniment to the latter's killer vox. Flip over for a remix from TC that lovingly adds some dirt to proceedings.

Review: Hotbox heroes Mind Vortex return with four sizzling slabs of future-focused D&B. The title track is an epic lighters-up vocal number tailored for those emotional end-of-night farewells (and great for double dropping with darker bassline cuts) "Underworld" is an ardent hype cut with an epic build up, a crucial vocal call to action and a drop so disgusting environmental health have been notified. Those looking for the duo's more vibrant, electrifying rave motifs will find them in abundance on the stunning "Till The Sun Comes" and the emotional arpeggiated "Overture" which sounds like Hans Zimmer on the intro and Noisia on the drop. What a combo. What a release. What a beauty.

Review: It's been an incredible year for DC Breaks, this being their third major 12" on Ram since January. "Gambino" comes with a juicy, croaky bass hook that's instantly distinctive and works well in almost every possible double drop scenario. "Burning" flips the vibe for something more electro-charged. With a show-stopping vocal, big synth-hammered bass and that chop-slapping 'whomping' sound that you often find on Viper releases, it's a source of instant dancefloor drama. A staple of Andy C's sets since spring 2013, it twists each and every element of the original on its head with laser-firing glee. The duo themselves take care of the "Losing You" remix, switching their steamy electro burner to a bone-shaking screamer. The high-stepping euphoric reversion of the techno-flavoured "Need You" is taken care of by Ram's latest starlet Frankee while DC Breaks add a dollop of insanity to "Give It To Me". Review: One of their best signings of 2013, Ram once again reminds us exactly why they snapped up the well-respected Dutch/Anglo duo June Miller. "Empathy" ignites with what appears to be a soulful, sexy liquid cut before slamming hard into a raffish bassline and a biting riddim. "Operation Ivy" is equally unique as we jitter and jive to a frenetic two-step and wild digi-slap-bass combo. With heavy support from Ram boss Andy C (including on his massive Nightlife 6 album), both of these cuts absolutely kill it. June Miller are nailing it right now.

Review: Given that it featured the vocal talents of chart bothering singer MNEK, it's little surprise that RAM have chosen to release "Close" as one of the singles from Sub Focus's triumphant second album Torus. It's the sort of pop leaning production that is likely to prove just as popular with the summer festival crowd as MNEK's previous collaborations with Disclosure, Gorgon City and Rudimental. Kudos to RAM for commissioning the Ivy Lab trio of Sabre, Stray and Halogenix to remix the track too, with their resultant reimaginations a fine slab of supple drum and bass.

Review: Get ready because Hamilton won't send out a warning before "Fire" destroys you. Blistering and bubbling as it tears through years of D&B influences in a matter of moments, it's a fast-paced ride and a half and there's no stopping it. On the other side of the coin, "Be There" is an altogether different kettle of fish. Stepping and squirming like a jack-knifing juggernaut, it's a completely mad combination of boisterous bass and blissful, Nintendo-esque, melodies. There might even be a bit of mellow old Daft Punk vibe in there for good measure. Hear it and believe.

Review: Audio on Ram... What a partnership! Bringing his Virus-primed sounds to drum & bass's mega label, not only does Audio get to rep his brutally beautiful technique to the widest possible audience, but he adds serious kudos to the broad remit of Andy C's imprint. "Heads Up" is an aggro stomper that pummels your floor into submission with an itchy scratchy midrange bass riff. "Stampede", meanwhile, is just pure insanity. Review: Another Ram release, another banger! That's the adage at Juno HQ when a new delivery from the Hornchurch hotspot comes in. If someone doesn't say it, they get charged a fiver by the boss. Them's the rules. And the rules for this particular pair of bangers? Easy - play them or insult your dancefloor. "I Remember" was first aired on Andy C's Nightflight 5 and we'd been itching for it ever since. The perfect balance of euphoria and funk and coated in spine-tingles, this is a head nod to early Hospital material but with added bass cojones. Meanwhile on the flip "Troglodyte" does its own balancing act between a deep rolling groove and heavy tech elements and cheeky fun. Another Ram release, another banger indeed...
