Hinting at the legacy of Die or perhaps early 2000s Zinc, there's such a timeless sense of funk to the bassline on this, it could make elderly relatives brock out. And if that's not enough, Digital & Spirit provide an equally shattering cut on the flip: "Cool Vibration" is anything but cool - dense, sweaty and relentless, it's created for soundsystems and built to last. Review: In 2012 PRPLX inaugurated Tempo Records, a label that's since released music from sometimes Lenzman collaborator Switch, R&S legend Pete Parsons as Voyager, and DJ Trax who's familiar to Paradox's Outsider label. Now Tempo debut Digital with a three-track dub-tinged 12" of percussive, tribal tipped drum and bass. On the one side "Logged In" is beat down and rolling, while the other is arpeggiated and laced with organic atmospheres. The title-track is where space-echoed vocals and swaths of dub chords glide across a face of bashing drums, while "Fire" is darker in tone and stripped back. Dope jams.

Review: Ipswich's Steve Carr remains one of the greatest operatives in the field of d&b, able to flex his studio skills to any number of approaches from crisp, techy rollers to ruffneck amen crushers and plenty of other spaces in between. He's also the latest to sign up with Okbron, the label committed to unearthing forgotten dubplates and exclusives from the archives. In the case of Digital, we're treated to two fresh slabs which show the best of this consistently inspiring artist. 'Brick Wall' is a melancholic affair in the synth department, but there's some serious damage to be done when the 'ardcore stabs come slamming in around the drop. Meanwhile, 'Inside Out' toys with dreamy pads and vocal tones before locking into a widescreen, dubbed out soundscape that ranks among the finest works Digital has ever created.

Review: Man like Digital has been on a roll in 2015 with some fine darkside endeavours for Function, Lioncharge and Dispatch Recordings since the turn of the year. The Catch A Fire EP sees the Ipswich badman return to Timeless Recordings offshoot Function and D&B fans will be most excited to check his almighty soundclash with Manchester producer Response. But don't sleep on Digital's solo cut "Rejection" which takes a grip of the A side in dramatic fashion, laying down some classic breaks amidst a tough production that feels like an alternate take on his Phantom Audio cut "Gateman". There is a real vibrancy to the Response collaboration "Light Years" whilst "Catch A Fire" sees Digital veer off into more explicitly abstract steppers territory.

Review: Now THIS is how you launch a label. Response and Pliskin present Northern Front's first release and it contains three highly respected names across the game. First up is a collab with Deadman's Chest, "Control State" sets the glacial tone and some cold hard truths over a hardcore jam that stinks of 1992 before Digital joins the fray and adds a little cosmic poetry, mystical pads and hurricane breaks on "True Story". Finally, Need For Mirrors glides into the mix and brings a deeper, rolling vibe on "Ruins", a track that gets darker the deeper as we progress. Three blinders, three totally different shades. We can't wait to hear what the Northern Front deliver next.

Review: Undiluted dark style business on vinyl-only imprint Horrific... Digital is an ideal candidate for the label. And, as with anything this man has ever put to wax, it's a sure-fire smasher. "Corrupted Soul" is a subby, dubby jungle original with tightly diced breaks and unpredictable bassline gurgles. "Glue Tune" grunts with a "Terminator"-style bass hook that slaps like a sheet metal boxing glove. Nothing short of heavyweight.

Review: 2014 has had Digital sprayed and stamped all over it... The jungle don has returned and he's done so with serious creativity and muscle. "Damage" is home to a hundred basslines, each one vying for attention over a robust, rusty breakbeat. Watch out when the classic rips and sneers drop mid-way. Carnage. Flip for a slab of modern minimal mastery as Digital reconnects with Spirit and brings dubstepper Nomine into the fold. Steppy, stark and slinky with huge dollops of dub dynamic, fans of Exit and Cosmic Bridge will be all over this.

Review: Ipswich Junglist icon Digital has never let us down, and when he offers up some new heat under the banner of Digital's City Dubs you know we're going to be paying attention. 'Motherland Dub' reworks his classic 'Motherland' track into a brooding, atmospheric Bruk out, while 'Dread Life' turns the heat up, getting surgical in the edit for maximum disorientation in the dance. 'An Evil Source' is a direct product of an after hours session between Digital, Spirit, Ratty and Nick EP, and it keeps coming with the kind of energy only a collab can bring. 'Stay' offers up proper B2 business, offering something a little off-piste with its oddly soulful rave stabs and boom bap drums and perhaps stealing the show in the process.

Review: 2014 seems to serving long standing Drum & Bass producer Steve 'Digital' Carr very well so far, with the "Mini Cooper" contribution to the fourth Platinum Breakz compilation from Metalheadz complemented by a 12" for the Rupture label and now this debut for Horizons! It's not hard to see why "Figjam" is the lead track here with a knee shattering combination of razor sharp reeeses, crisp amens and heavy basslines making it a contender for moody anthem of 2014. Don't sleep on the B Side though as Digital drops a sly 23rd century stepper with hints of Detroit hi-tech jazz on "Waiting" whilst "Therapy" weighs in with a more dub-focused sound that will appeal to fans of D Bridge.

Review: If you know Drum & Bass, you know Digital & Spirit need no real introduction, but despite 20 years experience of tearing down club soundsystems and appearances on many of the seminal labels, it's quite strange the pair have never appeared on V Recordings. That anomaly is remedied here in quite rude fashion with Garrison's Law, a fine double drop done in collaboration with rising Mancunian Response. V Recordings describe both "Garrison's Law" and "Different Style" as dancefloor juggernauts, and you'll find it hard to disagree with this statement after spending some time with the previews. Proper junglist vibes aplenty on both for a record the underground selectors will love to play out for some time.
