Headed by Exposure the forward-thinking label strike more barbed soul gold on their third release. Break takes the lead with a white knuckle spacefunk of "Solvent". Almost taking a classic early 2000s neuro tone, it's Break in a playful space race type of mood. Flip for some silky vocal soul from Exposure as the dulcet feels of Mark Douglas wrap neatly over dreamy pianos and pads. No regrets.

Review: Klute's imperious Commercial Suicide proffer the third double vinyl sampler pack from the excellent label compilation CD that slipped out in the final moments of 2011. Across the 48 inches of wax present there are some exclusive and naturally heavyweight contributions from some of Commercial Suicide's finest artists with Cern, Dose & Teknik teaming up on the opening track "Huntville" with suitably explosive results - not least the nuclear strength bass line that ripples throughout menacingly. Alongside it Break goes all 25th Century tech step on the quite brilliant "Freaks" whilst "Orion" occupies similar space whilst focusing on a more grinding bassline. The ever excellent Calibre ensures that age old adage about best till last is pertinent here with the paranoid steppahs delight of "Student Music" a considered highlight.

Review: A much loved figure across the D&B spectrum, Break brings us his next utterance on none other than Critical Music, who are enjoying their time in the limelight at the moment, following Kasra's recent Fabriclive mix. Here, we see Break doing what he does best in "Here We Go" as he goes in hard and fast, with pounding bass; those unmistakable Break er, breaks; and plenty of fury in the grinding synths which pepper this spectacular release. "Soundwaves", in some ways a slightly less intense cut, pairs a muffled reggae vocal, with almost impenetrable sub bass and low-end frequencies.

With his name established in the community, Xtrah has chosen a new year as the perfect chance to introduce his own label Cyberfunk whose debut release features productions from the man himself plus hookups with some friends. The A-side is all Xtrah with two cuts of precision programmed badness (just check "Operator"!!) whilst the flip sees him collaborating with Break and letting Simple Technique loose with the superb "Cold Steppin".

Review: Following the heavyweight Transit 2 compendium comes another essential couplet from Ant-TC1's Dispatch brand. "We'll See" sees DLR team up with the matchless Break. One of D&B's most venerated producers, he nails everything he touches - including this richly textured stepper which offers something new on every listen. DLR goes solo for "Tugboat" on the B; straight up in-your-face steppery with serious attention to detail on the bass, it's got every bit of power its name suggests. Get tugging....

Review: Clash of the modern day titans right here as Break and Survival collide for a sizzling workout of glitchy, steppy riddims. As you'd expect from the pair, "Stano" is sharper than a drag queen's put downs and full of interesting sonic twists and turns. Fans of both Symmetry and Dispatch output should go mental for it. Flipwise we find Survival going solo for "Going Over". A deeper, more quintessential rolling affair, check those meaty one-note subs and you'll be all over this. Heavyweight stuff.

Review: "See for me this is Michael Caine, cliff-top road, south of France, open top E-Type Jag, boot full of gold bullion after the heist. This time it worked" - Mary Ann Hobbs, Radio 1. Not a bad introduction, and its not unwarranted in this instance, perhaps the most anticipated release on the label so far. 'Hollow' is a slick, brooding roller which has received a heavy amount of airplay and club support. 'The Question' has been described by many as DNAudio meets Full Cycle, a bouncy dancefloor workout that has been big in the boxes of Friction, Noisia and Pendulum among a host of others over the last year. Review: Engine Music finally step up with their third release with a solid 12" by Break. On the a-side you have "Follow The Heat", a track reminiscent of the Sunday Sessions (in our humble opinion) yet rejuvenated for 2007. Tight, crisp beats and luscious strings lead up to sinister bass stabs then drops into what we describe as a gritty piece of funk. On the flip we have "External" which shows exactly what this man is known for - minimal techno rollers.

Review: The legendary Fokuz label outta the Netherlands hits a 110th release and opts for a selection of remixes from various artists. AirK & Cephei open up with 'Desire,' a slick roller with booming bass and epic synths. Break then comes through with tight remix of A2 Soligen & Type 2 's 'Can't Go' complete with expertly design hits. Break then goes it alone on the original 'Coming 4U' with its low end oscillations and closes out the EP back in remix mode. His take on 'What Are You' is a roaming, textural affair with twisted leads and flurries of toms.

Review: Ah Break... Will you ever cease to deliver genuinely unique grooves that echo with all corners, shades and styles of D&B? We truly hope not. "Moving On" instantly slaps with its distinctive snare rolls and fuzzy purring bassline. The second those trumpets, flutes and soft key dustings ooze gracefully into the mix, you're putty in Break's hands. "On The Off" shows the Bristol producer's darker command as we grind and grimace to an ugly, jaunty off-beat bassline and another solid set of perfectly produced drums. Naturally both kill it. You won't be moving on from these for a long, long time.
