Typically, it hits hard from the start, with the bombastic neuro-funk smasher "Nothing Left" setting the tone. There are plenty more big room bangers, of course, including the ragga-jungle revivalism of "False Alarm", and bowel-bothering heaviness of "Ghetto (feat Doctor)". It's not all straight-up dancefloor filth, though; check, for example, the Police-sampling vocal shuffler "Long Gone", the trap-step wobble of "Cloud 9", and the Hospital style, radio-friendly, festival drum and bass of "Takes One To Know One".

Review: Ram powerhouse Calyx & Teebee return with their first original material in 18 months. And it's as filthy, firing and razor-sharp as you'd want it to be! Marking the start of their highly anticipated third album, both cuts showcase the duo's skills and ever-developing momentum. "A Day That Never Comes" punches hard with a heavily re-sampled, reverse-twisted bassline and Calyx on a rock-flex with his vocals. "Snakes & Ladders", meanwhile, is cut from the same jump-up cloth Hazard makes his dapper threads from. Not a sound you'd first expect from C&T but, laced with their tech-minded trickery, it really works. Like really works. We can't wait to hear the album.

Review: Wilkinson's smash hit 'Afterglow' is given a limited repress on a pretty slice of golden marbled wax, harkening back to a time when the drum n' bass artist lay just on the cusp of stardom. The original press of 'Afterglow', arguably one of the most important songs to galvanize drum n' bass as a truly Top-40-worthy style for the 2010s, has long been out of print. However, that never stopped the song from reaching public stardom, in large part thanks to its contributing vocals from Becky Hill and its lesser known jump-up B-side, 'Perforation'.

Review: Thundering D&B Mind Vortex style: few artists really emanate the Ram sound with more edge, energy and authenticity as these guys. If anything, they're the main driver for Andy C's label finding its current sound. Four tracks in total, highlights can be found on every cut: the melodic, almost-electro feel of the bass on "Against The Grain", the face-sandpapering blasts of "Bigger Than That", the spine-melting synths of "Curve Ball" and the end-of-night lighters-aloft vocal burns of "Stand High". One of MV's biggest EPs to date.

Confirmed as probably the tune of the year so far, 'Airplane' has a stop you in your tracks, deep, good time feel to it. Review: Last year the D&B world went mental for Mind Vortex's "Hotbox". Can they follow such a massive, ubiquitous release? Yes. Yes they can! "Alive" is a synth-struck slab of electro drama with a nagging hook and urging vocals. With a blissed out guitar session on the drop, it'll have your crowd swooning in minutes. "Arc" flips the switch for something much darker. Firing with a series of serious basses it's not dissimilar to Sub Focus its presentation but delivered with Mind Vortex's own trademark sense of cheek-slapping naughtiness. Heavy.

Review: A rising talent in DnB circles since 2010, David 'Frankee' Franks has aligned naturally with RAM Records of late with the All Four One EP his third for the label in the past year. Those selectors out there eager for some deep vocal rollers will gravitate immediately towards opening cut "Deep Down" which pairs the yearning vox of Caan with some tight rhythms, fluctuating bass lines and a real sense of production drama. Review: How do you follow up a banger like "Absolute Monster"? Easy; flip the switch and serve two totally new flavours that kill it in different directions. "All My Trials" rolls with a fantastic dusty old soul sample before a deep tubular bassline wobbles its way into the mix. Complete with Ivy Mairi's floaty, ghostly vocals, it's more like old Hospital than contemporary Ram and sounding really fresh as a result. Meanwhile on the B "Not Deep" makes most of its noise with an old school palette with "Sour Mash" synths, Derrick May style strings and a bassline that's straight out of 98. Absolutely monstrous.

Review: Five years ago Calyx & TeeBee set a ridiculously high bar with their debut album Anatomy. Did they set an impossible task? Is that why it's taken so long? Not on your nelly, bass fans - clearly they've been honing their skills to create something even finer. From the moment you switch fluidly from Heavenly guitars to a filthy-ass bassline on the opener "Heroes & Villains" you know this is special. Move on for the "Brown Paper Bag" flavoured "Pure Gold" with Kemo. Or the lush, skippy wheezes and washes of the Calyx-fronted "Elevate This Sound". Or, for that matter, the grungey chaos of the Beardyman collabo "You'll Never Take Me Alive". Take your pick; every single tune is special.

Review: With a steadily growing fanbase on Ram, initially coming off the back of his inclusion on Andy C's Nightlife 4 and a number of killer singles, Culture Shock's showing no signs of slipping with "Bad Red". With a funky and crunchy bassline working in tandem with some huge lead stabs, it works itself into a smooth breakdown before coming back in with even more fire and menace. "Surprise" on the flipside is also a tasty treat, with some militant and unpredictable synths filling gaps between the razor sharp jump-up drums. Clearly a producer on the rise, look out for more heat from Culture Shock in the future.

Review: From the makers of "Gambino" comes "Bambino". A true roller coaster of a track with all its twists and turns, it's every bit as electrifying and densely textured as you'd expect from one of Ram's most heavyweight duos. For something a little on the leftside flip for the tripped out triplet rhythm with its downpitched vocals and strange synth flurries. The two sides of DC Breaks showcased in true style; it's yet another straight-to-dancefloor classic.

Review: They don't call him a beast for nothing... Audio is one of the sharpest, most uncompromising engineers in D&B and has been since his Resonant Evil days. Ram's ace of spades, signing to the biggest label in D&B hasn't stopped him from pushing neuro and tech to its bitter, broken glass edge (and, often, beyond) As proved by his fifth album Beastmode. From the broken-brake speedway challenge hurtling dangerously out of control ("Creatures") to the absolute hell-raising detuned stabs and turbo engine reeses of "Thunder Ridge", this is Audio at his hardest, sharpest and furthest ahead of the curve.

Review: Busta Rhymes has Flipmode, but Audio has Beastmode! After a slew of heavyweight albums on Virus, Audio is returning to the format with Beastmode forthcoming on the mighty RAM with this 12" sampler the first of many tasters. "Overdose" sets a high marker for the album, finding Audio returning with a brutish, rolling bassline, diced up with gritty drum loops and underpinned by quaking subs. Face down and Audio's signature RAM cut "Ultron" is given the Mefjus treatment, resulting in the sort of techy soundscape the Austrian producer reigns over. Mefjus moulds the original around the unfaltering guns of his peddled drums and wavering bassline.

Review: Freshly signed to the Ram family, Frankee is one a serious roll right now. Across these two contrasting tracks he shows just why; "Black Heart" is a firing slab of darkness, barbed with neuro nuances. Deep analogue bassline bubbles while the eastern vocal sample is edited with the same panache as Audio (a la "Headroom"). "Wonderland", meanwhile, tells a totally different tale; vibrant, euphoric and coated in a vocal message we can all testify to, it's an instant end-of-night smack-down laced with all the old school thrills and spills you'd expect. D&B doesn't get much better than this.

Review: Their third album, Brand New Machine sees Chase & Status reach a nirvana-like vein of form. Every single track is impeccable and these are four of the finest examples. "International" pays respect to hip-hop's golden age (notably Nas) and tips a massive nod at formative jungle by way of a Cutty Ranks vocal. "Machine Gun" rifles us back to the modern day with a US-slanted grime piece that stutters and spits with genuine venom. "Gangsta Boogie VIP", meanwhile, sees C&S at their deadliest. Opening with a slick hip-hop lick we're soon thrown deep into the D&B mosh pit with no sign of exit. "Breathing" completes this stunning double pack on a liquid note. Skippy, swift and soulful, it reminds us where the unstoppable duo have come from.
