The result is four slices of no-nonsense jackhammers from two experts in the field, leading in with the edgy loops and bludgeoning kicks of 'Kos' and neatly stepping over to the shoulder-shaking pressure of 'ZZZZ'. 'Track 4' features one of those deadly chord stabs which just lands squarely between the eyes, while 'F9' rides the cymbals mercilessly and keeps an abundance of funk in the low end - pure dancefloor dynamite in action from two well-versed detonators.

Review: ZYX out of Germany sure does know a thing or two about proper good disco from across the spectrum. This year they have dropped some vital reissues of classic albums and tunes like Delanua's 'How Many Fill' and BIBA's Top Model and now they drop the second instalment of their Italo Disco Spacesynth collection. It does exactly what it says on the tin with dazzling tunes that reach for the stars. The production is delightfully analogue and retro from Koto's shiny 'Visitors' to the twee arps of Cyber People's 'Polaris.'

Marc Fruttero & Alex Papale's 'What You Want' is particularly dreamy and atmospheric, owing to Italo's longstanding ability to evoke more than just its poppy structure. Buraye is the man in the driver's seat and sets his sights on the stars with 'Zydereen De Neptuno' which has zippy synths and snappy snares all weaving in and out of the drums. 'Black Light' then has a more menacing and darker bassline and 'Lead-Acid Mentality' brings the cyborg funk with a punchy beat and snaking bassline keeping you guessing. Review: The inscrutable artist that is DB1 first appeared in 2012 alongside Martsman, courtesy of the Hidden Hawaii collective, and the producer has been an integral part of the imprint's development ever since. It is now time for an LP from the mystery artist and its name, Zwischenwelt, is as difficult to interpret in the English language as its music is to describe into written words. What we can say is that it's a fresh and singular piece of music that is successfully prolonging the dub techno continuum with the originality that it deserves. If Basic Channel broke down their favoured 4/4 format, it would sound a little bit like "KTZ1" or "Quebe (part 1)", two broken techno bombs with a heartical soul. Tunes like "Zuki" do provide a more techno-minded framework, still rich in half-step movements, while "Jona" will cater to fans of the deep techno sound of artists like Dozzy. All in all, this is not an album to underestimate, and we're pretty confident that you'd be making a mistake by not copping it. HEAVY.

Review: Like many Australian artists, Melbourne's Mildlife are keen to raise money for the Bushfire Relief Fund. To do that, they've decided to offer up this surprise Artwork re-edit of 2018 album track "Zwango Zop" and donate all sales revenue to the appeal. While the band's original version is a deep and groovy chunk of spaced-out disco, Artwork's version is a far more forthright, peak-time ready affair. He's beefed up the beats a little, pitched up the band's fine instrumentation and added some densely layered new synth sounds of his own. The result is an intergalactic disco workout straight from the top drawer that could well become one of the underground hits of the summer.

Review: O! Kult was a post-punk and industrial band from Yugoslavia that was active in the 1980s. Like many of their peers at the time, they were censored by the communist party that was in charge but that didn't stop them from making music and gaining a cult following. Their cut 'Zvestoba' has been found in old Radio student archives and brought back to life here and then remixed by modern luminaries Silent Servant, Christian Kroupa (who is one half of Black Dot) and 198319831983. They add weighty tech, EBM and moody electro vibes to make for a strong package.

Review: Having dropped his Lagarius album earlier this year, Detroit mainstay Gary Martin is back on his Teknotika label with a collaborative EP with fellow Motor City legend Javonntte. The story goes that Martin had planned a break from the studio, but instead wound up connecting with Javonntte to lend his considerable keyboard talents to one of Martin's beats, which wound up in two different versions of 'The Infinite Time', now found on the B-side of this single. In both mixes, Javonntte's keys soar high and Martin's beats move with a broken flex that only adds to the jazziness. A-side track 'Zurvan' came after, balancing the record out with an Eastern-tinged melodic scale which gives the record an enchanting, mysterious quality.
