Review: Exarde clocks up its 15th outing here with another bit of brilliantly direct to dancefloor techno tackle from Zuul. There is a sense of celestial mystery to his opener 'The Devil's Wanted In Here' in the chrome-plated melodies while the drums are pure electro-funk. 'Phazer Quest' ups the ante with some prickly acid spraying about the face of the silvery metallic drums and sustained chords and moon the flip comes the rasping bass and slapping drum funk of 'Talkatron' while a more circuitous route is taken by the searching synths of closer 'Nieur Acid.'

Review: Originally founded in Manchester but now well entrenched in Berlin, SK Eleven continues to fly the flag for stern, unrelenting techno shrouded in gothic undertones with this essential drop from Zippo. The approach is one focused on needlepoint drum programming, running from the twitchy hats and thunderous kicks of 'Pulse & Distortion' to the snappy 909 hits of 'Xukro' on to the mind-warping arps of 'Cannot Stop Thinking', which also features Celina Marie's detached voice calling out the track title in the middle of the maelstrom. At all times it's techno delivered with an accomplished tone, making for must-check gear for any dedicated diggers and DJs.

Review: Albert Zhirnov's back on the Clergy label for a second time following his debut last year. Once again he showcases a love of fad-free, straight up techno pumpers for the main room. There is a sweep-you-off-your-feet urgency to 'Switchback' with its hurried kicks and restless synth loops all demanding you move. 'Distortion Forge' is a high-octane banger too, this time with rusty metal peeling off the bulky beats. The energy levels ramp up through another high-functioning tool in 'Wooden Lessons' and the frictionless forces of 'Stoker.' Basements won't know what's hit them.

Review: Resilient Recordings launches with a strong sonic statement from Zero Dayz that presumably lays out its intent going forwards. His 'Sacred Business' is a fizzing and full throttle techno cut with old school 90s influences from view game soundtracks. It fires lasers out like bullets from a machine gun and never quits. 'Energy Flash' legend Joey Beltram remixes with even more potency and DAVE The Drummer adds some flat-footed drums to his version. Review: Turnend Tapes is back on wax with a hugely tasteful EP featuring four tracks selected from the works of venerated veteran Zedmeco. His take on techno is deep and atmospheric with the slow, deep rolling 'Undressing Aphrodite' a nice star gazer to open with. 'ABC' is another unhurried and supple techno sound with shimmering melodies and deft synths zipping across its face. 'Engaging The Oracle' gets more dark with grinding drums and malfunctioning machine sounds while a more playful side is shown on 'Apollo's Lyre' with its cosmic synths and lumpy drums.

Review: Minimood's often deep and dubby take on minimal and techno gets a trippy rewiring here courtesy of this fine new EP from Zakmina. His two magical originals are couched in chugging dark disco but come embellished with Zouk melodies and mystic Middle Eastern-sounding leads that bring plenty of atmosphere and colour. Also included are two remixes from Curses and Rude 66. The first is a wonderful Spaghetti-Wave Redux to twist your melon and the second is a Space Psycho rework with cosmic and Italo influences taking the chilly beats to the stars.

Review: Past Inside The Present welcomes back accomplished and prolific ambient master zake, this time alongside Oss and Fax who released the original featured track, 'Polymorph' on Module. Here it gets revisited by a top contemporary team after the hazy and absorbing extended mix kicks things off. ASC then goes dark with his mood rework and Zake himself remixes with a more optimistic sense of crepuscular synth lushness. Aural Imbalance layers in some fizzing and malfunctioning electronic sounds, Ossa suspends you amongst his heavenly rays and Influx brings gently broken beats. Fax shuts down this varied offering with a more edgy ambient sound.

Review: Dustin Zahn makes a return to the techno label Blueprint with his latest titled 'Temporary Vandalism'. 'Catharsis' is a metallic sounding banger that thrives on driving the tension to an all-time pitch - all the making of a classic techno record. 'Rotator' adds a bit more of a tribal sound to the looped style killer. The title track goes full tribal reminding us of classic Oliver Ho material. 'Conduit Of Chaos' is perhaps our favorite of the lot with the classy ever-changing rhythm and incessant pressure that continues to rise. For many, Blueprint is the example of proper techno - and that's a theory that's backed up by this dancefloor ammunition.

Review: The Gamine label doesn't rush to put out music - this is only its seance EP in two years - but what it does unleash into the world is always of a high quality. YU is behind these beats starting with 'Absoluting Rain' which pairs a gritty low end with popping drums and colourful synths that stream above the beats. '12' is another one that marries a physical low end with heady synth work and carries a real sense of mystery in the pads. Our pick is the closer with 'Polemik Race' getting starry eyed and thumping in equal measure.

Review: Correcciones Calypso returns from a generous hiatus with the fourth edition of its acclaimed edit series, replete with four re-edits that veer from the subtle to the downright brazen. Thomass Jackson and INigo Vontier invite the French duo Youkounkoun to open proceedings with an insane early 80s edit full of big drums and exotic touches that's been blowing dancefloors all around the world for the past years - and definitely resides in the brazen category, despite a lot of work having gone into it. Olta Karawame make their debut on the series with a powerful, compact edit full of ballsy keyboard riffing and a military-sized kick drum that is guaranteed to have heads banging . To complete the release label bosses Thomass and INigo deliver edits of their own with their characteristic sound, giving this EP maximum a value for money factor and entertainment from start to finish.

Review: Rotary Cocktail welcomes some real heavyweights for this 51st 12": Berlin dub techno mainstay Youandme is behind the original, tune, 'Swell Repeat'. It's a wavy, underlapping and deep dub roller with drunken drums overlaid with silky smooth and seductive percussion. Brazil scene pioneer Renato Ratier then steps up for something more dark and dry with a menacing marching groove and Detroit's finest Kenny Larkin brings fizzing, pixelated synth waves and moody techno rhythms to his remix. Review: Israeli artist Yogg first elbowed his way onto the map by not merely spewing forth ceaseless bangers, but also by co-founded the Parallax label with fellow techno artist Pharaoh. Here, though, he takes a detour to release on the esteemed Non, dropping four weirdo atmossy techno numbers via a label who don't take kindly to anything remotely unsubtle or underproduced. On 'Twice The Rice', we hear A-siders 'Blaze It' and 'Nico's Bass' play back like two sides of the same divine coin, the former working a sort of mouthy filtered synth through endless sleets, and the latter removing it, revelling in atmospheric knocks and gargantuan sonic cavities opening up. 'Bein Noodle' maddens things on the B, as our ears float unwittingly into a perfect psychedelic factoryscape; 'Twice The Rice' unsettles and unnerves, as we edge towards its generative core.

Review: The king is dead, long live the king, as they say - except in this case the late king is DJ Bone's legendary Subject Detroit label, which has now been shuttered after 25 years, and the newly anointed king is his new outlet Further, taken from his Amsterdam parties of the same name. It kicks off with a pair of new EPs on the same day and this is the first from Yeti Mind Tricks. 'We Ain't Like Them' is a hammering Motor City techno cut for the peak time which Bone remixes into a more stripped-back but no less edgy and potent cut. On the flip are 'Bimini Road' and 'Vandelay,' both of which bring stylish techno drenched in machine soul.

Review: There is no messing about on this ninth transmission from the Neighbourhood label, which comes from the studio of Yant and is comprised of well designed tool-like techno cuts that pack a serious punch. 'Broken Strings' is a linear pile drive with warped, twisted synth sounds peeling off the groove, while 'The Stunter' is stripped back to a lithe rhythm and more smooth synth details that dance up top. 'Conquering' again gets more ragged and raw with edgy, unresolved loops and some massive hi hats while last of all it is 'Lost Hours' that melts the mind with its sublime and subliminal mix of drums and synth.

Review: Fans of hard yet minimal techno will be pleasantly bowled over by 'Blk 20 24', the latest from Presion and Yan Cook. The A-side is delightfully rough-edged and cruddy, while the B is clearer-headed and foggy, each side of the vinyl recalling the feeling of being on the inside and outside of an alien spacecraft respectively. Hector Oaks' remix of 'Dominant', meanwhile, is packed with metallic growls, scrapes and creaks that mark its transitions; an unusual yet riveting choice from the artist.

Review: Goettingen's long standing dub techno servant XDB takes us to Chicago At Midnight with this new 12" on Pariter. 'Fenders' is one and is a deliciously elastic rhythm with rolling kick drums setting a hypnotic groove as the bubbly synths rise up through the mix. 'Cagomi', more edgy and amped up with gritty hits and swaying bass, gets a new lease of life after first surfacing on XDB's Metrolux Music back in 2009. The same cut gets a remix from Delano Smith that's more rooted to the floor in the Detroit man's usual textbook style. A classy outing from all, then.

Review: MELMAK's new 12" is entitled All Stars: The Rave Years which gives you an idea of what to expect. These are high-tempo, dense and rave ready sounds from the drum & bass vanguard. There is plenty of space out cosmic energy to the exploratory leads of X Termal's 'Tragnal Kozze' then 'What If' (The Doulo Klan edit) is a tightly coiled stepper. Bugger lays down a hyper speed rhythm with drilling bass and slapping hits on 'No Silence Now' and Umbra's 'The Big Dumb' is a real slow-motion churner with textural synths and alien sound designs. All four are ready to get the party going in different ways.

Review: An air of mystery surrounds this new While My Sequencer Gently Bleeps project, but what we do know is that they have two superb EPs dropping at the start of 2024. This one, OK, opens with 'Amber' which is a nice undulating and deep cut with lush synth smears. 'Emptiness' hangs synths in the air over more lithe broken beats and 'Felt' is a stripped back rhythm with majestic chords, blurts, bleeps and more all adding colour. 'Hesitation' and 'Burton' round out this sublimely supple and subtle synth record.

Review: The Take It Easy label returns with a red hot one and limited edition one-sided 12" that features a Bugsy 'ReDrum' of Wema's 'Kiherehere' cut. The original artists are a five-piece Tanzanian outfit founded on community and they have a global approach to sound that plays out here. In Bugsy's hands, it becomes a club-ready cut that fuses house and techno with the original's traditional Tanzanian instrumentals and Afro-Latin rhythms. Review: German artist Sven Wesiemann likes to keep it deep and always manages to cook up fine grooves form the most bare sonic essentials. This second volume of his dubbed out minimal, techno and techno tools is another vital resource for those who share a smiler outlook. All six cuts are expertly reduced, perfect warm and damn hypnotic when played loud in the right club. The subtle details - a heart wrenching chord, alluring vocal, deft rhythmic twist - are what evaluate these above mere fodder. They come in a nice screen-printed sleeve too so do not sleep.

Review: While Vince Watson's 2002 classic 'Moments In Time' certainly stood the test, the Scottish producer and DJ has now revisited the theme with his very own sequel to the project, 'Another Moment In Time'. Though it gives modern breathability and flair to his long-established atmospheric techno oeuvre, it hardly renders the music glossy or sheeny as one might expect. Instead, the very same wondrous jazz-flavoured sound is conveyed once again, and with just as much potency, through the two awestruck burgeoners 'Rendezvous (Finale)' and 'Whispers'.

Review: Orlando Voorn has always been a link between European and Detroit techno and that becomes explicit again here as he appears on this new 7" from the iconic Underground Resistance. It features 'Never,' his collab with 040 and a searing mix of punk vocals and hyperspeed techno drums and sleazy guitar loops. On the flip is Perception's 'Song Of The Hmong' which featured on the CD compilation Interstellar Fugitives 2 - Destruction Of Order back in 2005. It's a lush downtempo jam that offers a completely different vibe from the A-side.

Review: Islenskur turbonutter, Volruptus, contorts your expectations for the third and final 12" on International Chrome in 2023, 'basssalina yeee', reciprocating 2021's huge collaboration with Jensen Interceptor on the former's Sweaty Records imprint. Endlessly inventive, the five tracks on the EP stretch and warp the concept of electro and bass music into new dimensions, all by adding just the right amount of odd, whether in the form of spaced out filters, unexpected pauses, or non-repetition. From the space shanty of 'Ibex' (which unsurprisingly for a track at 160bpm slaps just as hard when slowed right down) to the slightly more traditional hardcore of 'Brain Computer Interface', Volruptus wrings new sounds out of the traditional warp and weft whilst never forsaking the dancefloor.

Review: Dutch techno producer VOG channels the undeniable spirit of psy, acid and breaks on their new EP 'Metamorphosis', emphasising the far darker possibilities gleanable from their axis. Launching into the dark undulator 'Enter The Simulation', it's clear VOG's intention is to creep out and enthrall at the same time, almost disgusting the listener with licky acid samples and pitched-down vocal samples designed to sound as if they had originated from an organic spaceship's blood vessel-like air ducts. The trend continues across the whole EP, with a slight curveball thrown on the title track, which is more jubilant and melodic but no less eerie.

Review: Next up on scene-leading techno label Arts is a single from VNTM, otherwise known as Dutch DJ and producer Thomas van de Ven. This is the first vinyl outing for the breakthrough artist, who manages to edge subtlety and dynamic range into the big room techno sound. His sound design approach is refined, not least on the dub techno-tinted workout 'Breaching', but things can also still get rough and knotty on 'Dissonance Is Bliss'. If you're headlong into the sound of monolithic techno but crave some sophistication, this EP will be of great interest.
