It comes on five individual 7"s in one boxset with a booklet and has all the tunes in that fans would expect from 'It's Not Living (If It's Not With You)' to 'If You're Too Shy (Let Me Know)' via 'Give Yourself A Try.'

Freez is a voltage controlled locked looper. It captures moments of audio in buffers, where they can be minced and mangled beyond recognition. Once frozen, adjusting size will cause pitch and timbre changes to the locked audio.

Adjusting the sample rate control will distort and decimate the incoming audio as well as warp the time domain of the currently locked buffer. From beat repeat to granular audio buffer, Freez will create new sounds and textures out of any input signal.

Hat is a hi-hat cymbal with a wild side. Finding something unique is easy with a blend of sounds ranging from robotic to metallic. At its core are three unique sound sources made up of six oscillators, a noise generator, and a number of filters. Sizzle affects each source independently, adjusting oscillator and filter frequencies, allowing for a broad range of sounds. In addition, separate trigger inputs for open and closed allow for a complete hi-hat pattern on a single module. No matter what situation it's in, Hat provides shimmering, metallic timbres for any percussive purpose.

Review: Ryan Adams is a man of many faces, and talents. Capable of tearing his own heart out to pen achingly beautiful songs, seemingly written in his own blood, he has a clear understanding of the human condition and how to tap into our most fragile moods and moments. Nevertheless, he remains a controversial character off-stage, from sexual harassment allegations - and his subsequent apologies - to reports of angry voicemails on critics answering machines and asking fans to leave gigs for 'rude outbursts'. Still, his show at New York's iconic Carnegie Hall on 14th May 2022 saw a packed house gather to listen to his work, which this recording offers a wonderful insight into. Stop-you-dead moments are here in abundance, while his clear rapport with fans - on this occasion at least - also stands out. A masterclass in alternative acoustic rock, informed by country sensibilities, listening through hits like 'New York, New York' and 'Come Pick Me Up', alongside deeper fare such as 'Romeo & Juliet' and a cover of Black Sabbath's 'The Wizard', only emphasises what one-man tour de force he is.

Made and released way back in 1958, Somethin' Else is a classic jazz album by the American alto saxophonist Cannonball Adderley, notably his only ever album for the esteemed Blue Note label. It famously hears Adderley enlist the help of trumpeter Miles Davis as one of its sidemen, and this was an ongoing relationship that later paved the way for popular jazz as a whole; without Somethin' Else, we wouldn't have Kind Of Blue, for which Adderley would contribute his sax playing just a year later. Though it is a testament to the unity of two great core musicians, we also hear the piano stylings of Hank Jones, bassist Sam Jones and drummer Art Blakey.

Notes: The Low Fat is a new 2hp Eurorack module by AJH Synth, it's a High Pass filter, with frequency control by either manual pot, and/or external CV with attenuator. It's intended to compliment other filters, particularly low pass VCF modules, in practical tasks such as removing excessive low frequencies, for example when the bass is swamping a mix. It can be switched between 6dB (1 pole) response and 12dB (2 pole) response.

By patching a CV signal to the FCV input it can be voltage-controlled and used musically as with any other VCF. When used in conjunction with a LP filter it forms a fully customisable band pass filter, allowing the range of passbands to be cherry-picked. The BXx2 is a dual channel preamp, EQ and mixer based on the classic Boss BX series mixers. With the inclusion of both input gain and level controls, each channel can be overdriven, producing the signature saturated and lively sound the BX mixers are known for. The EQ controls provide the channels with simple but great sounding high and low shelf EQs for emphasising and shaping sounds and an additional 'Aux' input allows another mixer or extra sound source to be chained in.

Notes: Expandoor

The Expandoor gets you quickly and simply using AMP's Melody Oracle, Star Song, or Touch Tones (as well as other possible future devices) as a CV and Gate controller. It outputs Eurorack-compatible CV and GATE signals, transforming your AMP device into a versatile and novel modular synth sequencer or controller. The Expandoor can be used as a standalone tabletop box, or mounted in a 3U 10HP rack space.

Three independent GATE outputs:

Just as the three "Register" zones on your AMP device gate the audio for the three octaves of the built-in synthesizer, there are three corresponding gate outputs on the Expandoor. The 1/8" jacks labelled "BS" "LH" and "RH" output ~11V DC gate signals whenever those zones are gating "ON" on your AMP device.

CV output, tuners and LED indicators:

The jack labelled "CV" outputs a tuned set of CV values (0-11V), tuned independently but correspondingly, to the set of tuners on your AMP device. The row of multi-turn tuners on the front panel allow fine tuning of each CV state. One tuner is active at a time, depending on the state of the "INTERVAL" zones on your AMP device. The active tuner is conveniently indicated in real time via lights found to the right of the tuners. The indicator lights serve a second function of showing you which tuner on the controlling AMP device is also active in parallel.

AMP LINK jacks

The AMP LINK jack on the bottom left of the front panel (with the arrow pointing IN) connects your controlling AMP device into the EXPANDOOR. Use only shielded CAT 5 or CAT 6 cables and connectors (the correct cables will have metal end connectors). The AMP LINK jack on the right outputs a signal identical to the input, allowing chaining of multiple Expandoors and/or Wave Expanders. Do not plug more than one AMP controlling device into a single Expandoor simultaneously, or damage to the devices could occur.

Each controlling device requires its own Expandoor or Wave Exapnder, but multiple expansion modules can be chained from one controlling device. One potential benefit to chaining expansion modules is the ability to output multiple tuned, corresponding but independent, CV channels. Meaning multiple sets of harmonic values could be tuned and accessed at the command of the single controlling AMP device, or accessed via other modules in your system.

Notes: The MIX2GO-S is an 8 HP mixer directly designed for the smallest system, containing an adjustable mono, an adjustable stereo and a unity gain stereo channel. The mono channel has an aux send. The mixbus has adjustable stereo line, and headphone outputs. Also there's a "one to three" passive multiples.

Of the several functions it has, many can be customized by the user. Let's see: The input gain of all the channels can be switched by the backside jumpers. It is recommended to remove the jumpers for receiving modular signals, in this case the input gain is 0dB. If you want to connect line level signal into one of the channels, then it's recommended to use the jumpers, which allows for the +6db gain.

The mono channel has an effect Send after mono channel volume control. For effect return you can use the stereo input or unity gain 2TR IN. Output level of the "send" is switchable by the backside jumper between 0dB/-6dB, so as not to overload the guitar level effects. Besides these an HPF can be useful for the Delay and Reverb effects. It's built in the AS SYNTHS MIX2GO-S as well, and can be switched ON/OFF with a backside jumper too.

It's important to note that if you use the effect in auxiliary mode, then turn the DRY/WET potentiometer into WET position on the effect processor.

Summary: the MIX2GO-S is a very useful outboard. Fits in easily into any system, thanks to the line level output it can be connected into any audio interface and mixing desk. Also it's true on contrariwise, because besides receiving the level of modular signal, it's capable of receiving line level signal as well.

You can find the output of the MIX"GO-S on the module's back panel too to be prepared for internal routing. The MIX2GO-S does not contain the AS701 Audio and MIDI Outboard.

Review: Arther Baker's Dance Masters series continues, as the spotlight turns to another remix legend: one of the originators of the form, John Luongo. Regarded as one of the most influential DJs and mixers of his day, Luongo's many credits include remixes of Jackie Moore's 'This Time Baby', 'Vertigo / Relight My Fire' by Dan Hartman and Patti Labelle's 'Music Is My Way Of Life'. Luongo also went on to establish a production career in his own right, and his legacy is more than cemented here on this retrospective comp from Demon. This box set compiles his most striking tracks in a sixc LP compilation, as well as: a 16-page booklet; an in-depth essay from Alexis Petridis; a foreword by Arthur Baker and a rare photo album from Luongo's personal collection.
