Birth of the product

The idea of the Flexshaper comes from a feature in the Oberheimr Matrix synthesizers called Tracking Generator.

This signal processor was part of the modulation matrix and meant to be virtually inserted between modulation sources and destinations in order to change the shape of the controlling signal.

The Flexshaper applies the same concept using the same 5 shaping points. However, it goes beyond Oberheim's implementation on two main aspects:

It goes fast enough to process signals at full audio rate
The 5 points are dynamically adjustable (CV) in real-time
Besides, the Flexshaper can process adequately bipolar and unipolar Eurorack signals, even changing them one another.

The CalTrans corrects and expands the range of troublesome VCOs and brings V/Oct tracking to anything that oscillates.

Besides calibration, the CalTrans offers live play features. Each channel can be quantized and any combination of them transposed jointly.

A pair of rotary encoders with detent allow an precise selection of octaves and semitones.

Focused versatility seems an oxymoron when describing the features that led to the design of the Mixwitch.

With only a pinch of mixing, inverting and controlled switching, Klavis Electronics brew up a plethora of combinations and uses.

This is voltage processing magic!

The Mixwitch design comes from a frustration with attenuvertors (bipolar attenuators-inverters) whose off (neutral) position is difficult to retrieve, especially in live situations.

Klavis went for a digitally-controlled analogue path where polarity inversion would be at the touch of a button. So, the usefulness of attenuating/inverting can be realized by turning the pot down, swiftly pressing the inversion button and reopening the level. The zero level is where you expect it, with the pot full down.

Once a clean polarity control was established, a mute function was added, offering the benefit of pre-adjusted pot settings ready to be activated at will.
The next step was to bring something extra, useful and creative. There are plenty of analogue switches controlled by a clock; but arbitrarily selecting an input with a voltage is less known. Having both control capabilities combined with Klavis' specific mixer features creates a unique fusion: welcome to the Mixwitch!

Notes: The Man-Machine Interface, or MMI, is a passive touch and pressure sensitive controller which allows the user to direct CV and audio signals at will. The MMI consists of three input/output jacks, and five body contact surfaces in glorious gold.

The zig-zag body contacts correspond to the input/output jacks, with the top zig-zag connecting to the top jack, the middle zig-zag connecting to the middle jack, and the lower zig-zag connecting to the lower jack. The spiral patterns in between the zig-zags are comprised of the two adjacent jacks, so the upper spiral is comprised of the upper and middle jack, while the lower spiral is comprised of the middle and lower jack.

In order to operate the MMI, the user can touch any two points with their fingers, patch cables, a piece of fruit or vegetable, or any other conductive substance or object, in order to complete the connection. The degree of contact made with the MMI, and the resistance of the object completing the circuit, will determine the output that is sent along the circuit. For instance, if a user were to patch a VCO into the top jack, and patch the MMI into a filter in the middle jack, the VCO will be sent to the filter when the topmost zig-zag and lower zig-zag are connected by two fingers, for instance.

But how about the spirals? The spirals offer a way to make a connection with one finger. Using the example from before, the connection will instantly complete when the user touches the upper spiral pattern. Using this principle, it becomes possible to use the MMI in unusual and interesting ways, such as a rudimentary keyboard, a drum controller, a switch and any other number of weird and exciting purposes.

It is also possible to combine several MMI - using two different MMI, it is possible to reach across one zig-zag to another zig-zag, in order to make a different connection, or to place a particularly long vegetable across all the contacts just to see what will happen. The MMI is an unusual patching system for the experimental musician, and lends itself well to all manner of experimentation and weird instruments.

The MMI can bleed a tiny bit of signal when using sharp VCO waves like square waves, while other sounds like sine waves will have softer responses. This can easily be corrected with amplification or attenuation as needed.

The MMI takes up 4HP and is skiff friendly, and is also suitable for installing in external boxes as a passive control unit. You can combine any number of MMI to create increasingly complex keyboard-like arrangements, drum pad matrixes or advanced switch systems.

The Erica Synths Envelope Generator 2 is a re-triggerable, looping envelope generator with some unconventional features that are very useful for experimental setups. What sets the Black EG2 apart from other envelope generators is its optional GATE LENGTH setting, which allows for generating full ADSR envelopes even if a short trigger is used at the input. Likewise, in LOOP mode, the module outputs a full ADSR envelope instead of a classical AD envelope. The gate length is both manual and CV controlled, which allows for using this envelope generator in compact modular setups controlled by trigger sequencers only.

Meridian is a 14hp dual multimode filter array, designed to offer users a choice between 4 selectable filter types per side and 4 selectable filter modes per side, plus 2 effects (drive & phase shift) and the ability to be pinged. This allows users the flexibility to easily create a range of sound textures and sonic landscapes using a single eurorack filter module.

The name Meridian represents the idea of a meeting point or a convergence of different elements. Filters are often used to blend, shape, and refine different sounds into a cohesive whole. Meridian is often represented through the idea of a barrier or a line that separates parts. This concept mirrors the way the filter delineates different frequencies and aural elements, generating a defined contrast that shapes the overall sound.

In context, the name Meridian conveys a sense of balance, harmony, and unity, while also suggesting a clear and definitive separation between different sonic elements. Similarly, Modbap Meridian allows the use of two selectable, mixed or matched, filter types and two selectable, mixed or matched, filter modes to reshape and refine the source material into new cohesive textures. Meridian's two filters, each have independently adjustable cut off, resonance, and contour parameters. The Prime Freq control is the center macro control of both filters in tandem. The module
boasts a dynamic control feature aptly-titled 'Ping'. Activation of Ping is enabled through the Ping input. Additionally, the filter permits selection of serial or parallel routing configurations and is capable of functioning as either a stereo system or two independent mono channels with the press of a button.

Meridian boasts a selection of filters (including Ladder, OTA, Comb, and vocal formant) to generate a vast range of textures. Its sound shaping capabilities are furthered by its two distinctive and characterful effects: Phase Shifter and Drive.

All of Meridian's key features can be modulated via CV inputs. For instance, synchronization to tempo can be achieved with the clock input, allowing for clock synchronized Phase Shifting. As is typical of Modbap modules, Meridian was designed with tweak-ability and performance in mind.

Notes: Take a DJ-mixer-style combined high-pass and low-pass filter, cram it into Eurorack and you have the DJ VCF. A simple formula, but one perfected by Erica's attention to detail, with CV control and adjustable resonance.

Supplier's Notes:
As its name suggests, the Erica Synths Black DJ VCF provides sound treatment functionality typically found on DJ decks - it is fully open when the cutoff knob is set to 12:00. When turned counter-clockwise, lowpass filtering is applied and when turned clockwise, highpass filtering is applied. The filter also has a nice-sounding resonance parameter. This module provides hands-on control over the sound during the performance, as well as unconventional timbre modulations that are hard to achieve with conventional state variable filters. The Black DJ VCF is a fully analogue design and consists of two VCFs - highpass and lowpass in series and the filter management is done by complex CV routing.

CUTOFF
This is the main control of the module - manual cutoff frequency adjustment with a twist - it's fully open when the cutoff knob is set to 12:00. When turned counter-clockwise, lowpass filtering is applied and when turned clockwise, highpass filtering is initiated

Notes: The Z2040 is TipTop Audio's redesign of the most famous analogue filter from the polysynths of the 80's and features Tiptop Audio's signature lush, big, and creamy sound. Its frequency sweeps make thick bass lines and leads with great dynamics. When modulated with audio frequencies through its various inputs, the Z2040 gets quite colourful and is capable of creating many new sounds and textures as the forces of the incoming waves and their harmonics blend through the filter's non-linear circuit. When set with Resonance feedback fully up, the Z2040 transforms into a pure sine-core VC-Oscillator, great for making snappy percussive elements and whistling sounds.

A look under the hood will find that the heart of the Z2040 is a discrete design 4-pole low pass filter with a core similar to that of the SSM2040 filter chip, used in the 80's Prophet 5 Rev 2 synthesizer, and its brother the SSM2044, used in the famous early EMU samplers and PPG synthesizers of the 80's. Both filters are considered by many to be, "the best sounding filter ever".

The Z2040's four modulation inputs are built to handle CV and audio signals, enabling deep modulation of the filter core and passing signals. A VC resonance input is provided to modulate and even clip the sine wave produced by the filter feedback loop. A Frequency Modulation input (FM) provides dynamic filter sweeps and the unique VC-FM index allows modulation of the incoming FM signals. On top of that, the Z2040 comes with an audio VCA that can be configured to act upon the input or the output of the filter.

AXON-2 is an 8HP expander module for the SQUID SALMPLE, MFX and Pamela's PRO Workout that like the AXON-1 provides 4 additional freely assignable CV inputs but additionally adds manual offset controls and 2 additional 'performance' buttons.

The addition of AXON-2 increases the Squid, MFX or Pam PRO's total number of CV inputs by 4, greatly increasing the possibilities for vast modular manipulation. Each of the CV inputs includes an offset for hands on control over parameters assigned to CV. Per assignment digital attenuation and offset via the host module is also available for fine tuning the modulation or control over parameters.

The AXON-2's large buttons are great for controlling select functions in a live performance environment or adding convenient quick navigation shortcuts when making edits. The buttons functionality and assignability are dependent on the host module. See respective manuals for details.

It was never easier to treat your mono/stereo system or external instruments, whole mixes with a touch of this precision equalizer that allows you to dial in any sound from 1950's onwards. Konstant Labs' design is based on the fairly popular and now famous work of renowned electronics designer Peter Baxandall who designed one of the world's most popular EQ curves to date. Why are they so popular? They improve on any source signal you process/send through them.

Konstant Labs decided to base their next module on one of Peter Baxandall's renowned circuits that stood the testament of time in various tour applications and studio rigs all around the world and make it available for the eurorack modular format, while also improving upon its premise and foundation.

BaxandallEQ is a 3-Band EQ equalizer with two individual channels on board. Gain of each of its bands (bass/middle/treble) features a i15dB range. Both of the featured channels can be used independently (stereo) with individual gain for each band or as a one big massive single channel with staggering +/-30dB of gain on each band. Internal routing of the circuit of the module is a modification based on the legendary EQ design from 1952.

This highly sought after EQ circuit is being used for well over 70 years for processing audio, mastering in many high-end studios as well as home studios and home radios all around the world. Konstant Labs took the original circuit and its bass/treble section and modified it to feature a defined and sound-rich middle range. The premise was to deliver a convenient way how to treat your whole eurorack modular system with some precision EQ processing without compromising on sound, high-quality components, and materials. All-analogue signal path features only the best hand-selected condensers from WIMA and high-quality/low-noise opamps to deliver the best sound possible without any unwanted artifacts. The whole circuit and its components reside on one PCB which allowed Konstant Labs to keep high-quality/high-performance sound without increasing upon modules depth.

There is a switch on the back of the module that allows you to set the overall gain of the module - either 0dB or +6dB if desired.

Notes: PanoramaMIX is a high-quality four-channel mix module. This eurorack mixer module ensures premium sound quality by using hand-selected quality components and perfect circuit topology. There are four mono input channels with enough gain to drive most of your audio sources. Each channel features volume, PAN and MUTE functions. Mute knob emits red light when it's activated. There are Left and Right output mono jacks also as a stereo jack with amplifier allowing you to drive your headphones. You can also use PanoramaMIX as a headphone amplifier or output module to monitor your mix. This module is an ideal tool for setting up various sound design applications relying heavily on stereo processing. Make stereo sound from your mono modules.

Are four channels not enough for you? No problem! You can expand PanoramaMIX with its own bus to 8 - 12 - 16 - 20 configuration. Just add another PanoramaMIX, connect two or more modules together and you have a multichannel mixer with one master output and several subgroup outputs. Ideal for mixing your down your whole modular system. There is also power-sharing via an internal bus between mix modules implemented.

Mult9 is a very handy basic passive multiple module. It contains 9 jack sockets in 2 HP.

You can use it to split any signal (clock, gate, trigger, DC or audio) in multiple ways and directions, according to your patches needs. You can use Mult9 for one or two input signals in three working modes:

1) If you connect input signal to any jack except no.5, copy of the signal will be on each jack except no.5.
2) If you connect input signal to jack no.5, you split Mult9 to two sections into two different input signals. The first section will be jacks no.1-4. Second section will be jacks no.5-9
3) If you want to use all 9 jacks for one signal (no.5 jack included). You have to connect solder jumper J1* on the bottom side of the module. It is easy, just use solder iron and solder wire to solder two points of jumper together and you are good to go.

Panel is made from high-quality CNC milled anodized aluminium.

Mult9 is a passive 2 HP module and doesn't require any power. Ideal for filling leftover spaces in your rack or when you need to maximize the amount of modulation in your case from your standard sources of CV.

1UPWR is a powerful, low noise, high-efficiency power supply solution for use with eurorack systems and portable eurorack cases that feature 1U rails.

Front panel contains a conveniently placed USB connector so you can charge external devices such as - your smartphone, tablet, lamp, or external sequencer. Under normal mode of operation when the power switch is ON, LED indications emit green light. LEDs go out when there is either a malfunction, overload, or short present so you always know when it is safe to work with your system. Front panel is made from high-quality CNC milled anodized aluminium. Many electronic parts are of SMD origin. 1U PWR is also made from quality PCB with copper thickness of 70um, which ensures high reliability of 1UPWR and minimal power losses on dedicated PCB routes. We recommend Meanwell GSM60A18-P1J DC Power Brick for one 1UPWR PSU and GST120A20-P1M* for two 1UPWR PSU solutions.

*If you need more power, you can use two 1U PWR modules, easily connect them together via Konstant Labs' chain power cable and feed it with only one power brick (MW GST120A20-P1M).

The StrongPWR is Konstant Labs' power supply module. At just 4 HP - it is a powerful, low noise, high efficiency, and low weight power supply solution for 6U / 114HP eurorack modular synthesizers. If you need to supply a lot of modules within one system this is the choice. If you'd need more power, you can use two StrongPWR modules together, connected via a chain power cable in conjunction with only one power brick. Front panel contains a conveniently placed USB connector which enables you to charge your smartphone, tablet, lamp, or external sequencer. The module also contains two input connectors.
