Review: Kaiserdisco bring some big room techno energy to the one label in the world that is most synonymous with that sound - Adam Beyer's Drumcode. Opener 'In The Music' is a dark and driving cut with an acid tinged bassline over hard, hammering, flat footed drums. Add in a dark vocal hook and you have a real monster. 'Error In The System' on the flip is another moody techno pumper for the main room with hefty drums, eerie siren sounds and of plenty squelchy designs. It's a real headwrecker to close out a big 12".

Review: Befitting of the label's name, Drumsauw aka. Joseph Sutherland keeps to the Code with a fresh three-tracker of megatechno heaters. Starting things off with the entraining but no less driving dreamer 'Focus', we're met with riveting sixteenthy knocks and dour breakdowns, a formula devoutly followed throughout; the B offers up two further alarmist pummellings of the third kind, with 'Set Back' repeatedly jabbing the podiatric floor with pressurised weight-kicks and offhand "push it" voxxes, and 'Escape' continuing to sound said alarm while insisting that we "escape" the laboratory, now quarantined to sift out those hesitant to dance.

Review: Originally a drum & bass, future jazz and downtempo producer, Jimpster has really evolved and showed how excellent of a producer he is with his style of house music. The Freerange sound has helped Jimpster become one of the most looked at deep house producers in the world. The Passion EP features two of his new productions plus a special remix by another deep house hero, Atjazz. 'You're My Ecstacy' is a great example of the work that has brought him so much acclaim. Soulful deep house that stays more linear in the groove and stays in the sweet spot, becoming great moments on the dancefloor. The original of 'The Passion' sends a message to all the fake house music artists out there getting into the business for all the wrong reasons. With King Crowney on vocals, Atjazz's version is a little more techy, which is what we expect from him. All in all, this is right in the wheelhouse of the esteemed Freerange record label sound.

Cuts like "Casa De Papelao" are smoky, cosmic soul joints while "Cartao De Visita" is a fun throwbacks to the chronic sounds of the early 90s. Sugar-sweet skanks can be found deep in the sandy groove of "Pe De Breque" while anthemic, lighter-raising vibes can be found on "Piano De Voo" where Criolo's sharp tongue gives Em a run for his money.

Review: Mathew Dexter invites us into his singular techno sound world with this fresh new EP which inaugurates the new Subplanet label. 'New World opens up with main room vibes and nice arpeggios that have a hint of Italo charm to them. 'Godspeed' then layers up more hypnotic synth sequences to build a sense of unresolved tension over darker and more edgy beats. 'Sunbeam' offers a more heady vibe with some mystic flute style leads up top and transcendental synths that warp and weft to great effect. 'Retrograde is a prickly, bouncy, textured closer with euro-centric synths and plenty of melodic colour.

Review: Much-loved Berlin party wreckers Fjaak have got a brilliant new album on the way soon that traverses every conceivable style of beat and is sure to be of the year's best. But that hasn't stopped them also serving up this 11th EP of hand-stamped goodness on their own self-titled label. It kicks off with some searing acid madness on 'Redemption' then slips into a raw, rib-cracking techno stomper in the form of 'Hustle'. 'Mechanic Love' is pure old-school rave with oversized synth blasts that tickle your inner ear and last of all is a vocal tool, 'Unity' (feat Red Eye - acappella). Very useful indeed.

Review: BBE has delivered something of a future classic here, as decorated Eastern European harpist Alinha Bzhezhinska and British tenor saxophonist Tony Kofi join forces on a picturesque full-length excursion dedicated to the memory of spiritual jazz maestro Pharoah Saunders. It's a genuinely unique and hugely evocative affair, with Kofi's meandering, mesmeric melodies and inspired improvisations snaking in and out of Bzhezhinska's dreamy harp motifs and melodic percussion instruments (think bells, marimbas, vibraphone, xylophone and so on). It's not a familiar musical palette, but it's one that consistently delivers - and then some. Here they dive into the influential early '90s work of Peterborough heroes Shades of Rhythm, rounding up some of their most-loved tunes from the period. Review: Sweat It Out Records kicks off their tasty Sweat Sampler series with their first volume, cutting niftily across four exceptionally sweaty bops, spanning tongue-in-cheek deep tech reworks and downtempo disco delights. Review: Scottish party starter Sally C is behind the bolshy brilliance of the Big Saldo's Chunkers label. So far the releases have come at a steady rate but have always been of utmost quality. Bella takes care of the label's fourth outing and it's another peak time outing full of big fun. 'Note To Self' is a mix of potent breaks, trance chords and rave energy where 'Orchestra Spring' is more direct and bouncy with a rugged bassline pumping the breaks and 'Odd Symphony' then slips into a deeper vibe still but one that is no less dynamic. An Olsvanger remix of the same tune takes it into mind-melting late night afterparty territory.

Review: Brian Williams' Lustmord project has existed in different forms for over 40 years, though it's only in the last couple of decades - when it has become a vehicle for his solo work - that new musical missives have become a regular occurrence. On Much Unseen Is Also Here, the former industrial musician turned soundtrack composer once again showcases his mastery of pitch-black sonics, creepy soundscapes and horror-inspired dark ambient workouts. Review: Random Factor's 'On The Air' EP is a hugely sought-after classic by those who know. It came on Ralph Lawson's ever-reliable 20/20 Vision and now, as it turns 25 years old, he has decided it is the right time to get it remastered and reissued. 'On The Air' is first up on this fine EP from Carl Finlow and it has serene synths that bring to mind Detroit techno soul over pulsing bass and slick drums. 'Lockdown' has a raw vocoder vocal over punchy drums and twitchy synth stabs and 'Undercurrent' is another weapon that has more than withstood the test of time as it bumps along on funky drums and is overlaid with more playful synth patterns. 'Disconnect' is a crunchy and 8-bit closer with pixelated synths and screwy acid lines. Superb.

Review: The Great Revivers is a funk and library band with a focus on organ laced grooves that hails from Saint Petersburg, Russia. It was formed around a decade or so ago from members of bands Wake&Bake! and The Reggaenauts and has put out a steady stream of very danceable 7"s since then. 'Adventures Begin' is their latest and it comes on the Spasibo label with lashing of loquacious saxophone and some nice loose, live drumming. Review: Darvid Thor, Henry Jenkins and Hudson Whitlock (of the bands Karate Boogaloo and Surprise Chef) founded the low-key Frollen Music Library in 2021. Now aided in kind with a public release of their works by Spasibo Records, a heartwarming dialogue is facilitated between two isntitutions by way of a new four-track EP. Hand-picking four sweet treats from two earlier releases put out between 2021 and 2022 respectively - 'By The Phone (You Rang?)', 'Jaw Breaker' and 'Sei Cardigani Di Ball' all hailing from the former's Sweet Treats Vol. 1 compilation and the final track '1/4 Cup Of Sunflower Oil' from the following year's The Fretted Neck' album - these tracks are laid-back, nonchalant refractions of talent, across which the aforementioned cycle through said covers of Ennio Morricone, Pierro Piccioni and Piero Umilliani's standout score cuts with ease.

Review: Fleet Dreams has worked on labels like PPU and All City but now launches the freshly formed Vinezza Records with an aim of putting out into the world "an eclectic tapestry of magnetic rhythms". The first EP comes from the label founder and kicks off with a tom-laced, dusty and muted melodic house affair that bangs pretty hard but also has a soft and gooey heart. Review: It is five up for the French label Chivalry here and the eponymous production outfit is behind the sounds which are distinctly futuristic and techno-minded. The opener rides on gurgling low ends and distant synth tension that is always on the rise as whistles vie for your attention up front. 'Track 2' is another wonky and industrial tech house sound with snappy drums that will jerk the floor into action and 'Track 3' then gets a little more smooth with its warped tones and alien sound effects. Review: 'Practice What You Preach' is a standout track from the German funk band Poets Of Rhythm's debut record of the same name, first released on Soulciety in 1993. After a long hiatus on the albums front before a return to the limelight with a follow-up Ninja Tune LP in 2001, these guys nonetheless remained surely active on the 7"s circuit, which has sustained them since then. Little did we know or predict, however, that there existed a part two to the same track, which is essentially an instrumental version of the original 1993 track. On the B comes a fresh funker formerly released under the alias Mighty Continentals, with the band's Bo Baral laying down a rare solo guitar situation and singing about, well, god knows what.

Review: Spasibo Records present a fresh 7" by the Vicious Seeds, hailing from St. Petersburg. With vibraphonist Pavel Chizhik taking centre stage (Chizhik isn't usually a member of the band), 'Village Hassle' makes for a cleverly collaborative rare groove and instrumental reggae-soul release. The titular A-side flaunts Chizhik's vibraphone via the mix alone, fleshing out its low-end elements against a driven instrumental backbeat; 'Monthly Rainfall', meanwhile, goes for all-out slow-jammed soul by way of cross-sticked snares and offbeat chord plucks run through short-release springs.

Review: Sheffield-based producer Tommy Vicari Jnr. continues to be a wildly prolific producer, bouncing swiftly from a standout EP on the mighty SlapFunk to a link up with another European luminary, Body Parts. There's an instantly identifiable touch to Vicari's approach, where crunchy, crooked swing and squelchy funk loosen up the structures of minimal tech house to become warmer and more soulful than the average functional fodder. 'No You Needn't Explain' is absolutely built to work the floor, but it's also led by a downright nasty synth line taking its cues from electro funk, while 'Issacgroove' reaches for dizzying heights with its own snappy, Moog-esque licks.
