When The Morning Comes has done a quick job of turning heads by setting out a nice atmospheric deep house sound with its first EP, and now a second effort does the same. This one comes from Grant who lays out an elegant vision across four cuts. 'Opportunity' kicks off with analogue grooves laid down beneath warming pads and loose piano chords. 'Tangible Steps' picks up the pace with a more bristling mix of drums, perc and raw Chicago claps and onto the flip, things get deep once more with the horizontal vibes of 'Golden Wisdom' and more wispy cosmic pads of 'Foward Motion Dub.' Co-produced with the help of Dan Piu.

Review: Italian DJ and producer Reekee is normally found heading up his Wrong Notes label, but he's also dropped deep house heat on Sistrum, Roots Underground and Uzuri in his time. After inaugurating the Time To Play label last year, he's back on the label with an astounding new single, 'No One'. The track stretches out on the A-side like a song of this quality should, featuring Anna Cavedon delivering a striking, soulful vocal over some truly blissful chords that come on like space-age Rhodes soaked for months in the sweetest chorus. On the flip, Gary Superfly delivers a smoky dub mix of the track which adds some sizzling, raw drums and tripped out, dirty reverb chords that call to mind STL. If you want to zero in on Reekee's production, the instrumental is also on hand. This is real deal deep house with all the personality you could wish for - don't sleep.

Review: It's been a hell of a long time since Kieran Hebden released a full-length album; Sixteen Oceans and Parallel both came out in 2020 and made for twin final inculcations of his twinkly, stellar dance sound. Three, by contrast, comes a full four years later and promises a return to a relaxed space for the artist, recalling the woodside studio space that facilitated his inauguration as a meme. Not quite abandoning the EDM bent, 'Daydream Repeat' recalls those earlier projects, but the likes of 'Three Drums' and 'Loved' are by contrast much more measured, soft-breaksy constructions in sound, recalling a more radical return to hip-hop than house.

Review: P1LL is a mysterious producer whose production tools allegedly range from drum machines to keys and guitars - perhaps the artist is a low-key virtuoso. He's also allegedly a longtime head, having produced some tracks in the 90s in the city of Santa Monica, but unfortunately most of them were never released. But we love a good slow-bubbler here at Juno: 'The Other Side' is his first ever EP, featuring four tracks made between 1996 and 1998. Influences from techno, house, electro and breakbeat collide into a serene swirl on this new one for Serenity Now: 'Touch My Soul' is beautiful, heavy on surroundy chord stabs and lolling pads, while similarly entrancing yet darker tribal trance moods are heard on B-siders like 'Deep Inside My Mind'.

Review: New Digital Fidelity has been making sweet moves recently with a debut on the lauded Moods & Grovers label out of Detroit followed up by a single on his own Scopic Records. Now he brings his class to Crush On The Beachside and again shows off his love of Detroit house vibes. Opener 'Crush On The Beachside' is raw and intense with humid chords and jacked-up drums, then 'Shattered' brings more loose and jumbled beatdown grooves and 'Crush On The Beachside' (K15 remix) is then bubbly, jazzy and cuddly. 'Cracking' rounds out with more rich chord work and bristling drum funk.

It's a varied affair that pulls from a wide range of genres including leftfield, deep house, disco, Afrobeat, and even Balearic. From opener 'Electropolis', we're launched into a bustling, wild, alternate garden of the dance, teeming with all manner of keen creatures and organic-sonic delights. Then comes the (hopefully) anime-referencing 'Lain's Groove' and 'Dead Nights And Headlights', which edge closer to the darker cores of Jansen's shadow self in sound. We finally reach the precipice on 'Wild Shore', which hears us witness the sonic core to end all other cores, in its brimming totality.

This means there hasn't been a whole load of it, and it doesn't come on a regular basis, but when it does arrive, it's more than worthy of your attention. Mesak is next up with any electro-techno mix that opens with the thoughtful synths and skittish broken beat patterns of 'Katosi'. 'Narina' then layers up loopy drums and fuzzy sine waves that eventually grow into a celestial broken techno workout and Poborsk remixes with a flittering sense of rhythm constructed from infinitesimally small sonic details. 'Post Sweat' is a warm and balmy cosmic house closer.

Review: Exploited is one of those ever-present labels that have never made big headliners or had breakout anthems, but that's probably helped it stay relevant rather than getting chewed up and spat out by the hype cycle. Label head Shir Khan is back here to present a 36th Black Jukebox EP, with Paul Rudder & Kresy serving up the tunes. Their first collab is warm Euro-centric deep house which then gets remixed by Kresy into a 'Continuum mix.' Produced by Andrew Komis, "It's You" is a 1989 update of the ESP classic of the same name, and its various mixes have been cult favourites with all kinds of DJs for many years. The "New York - London Mix" is a stripped back slice of sensuality with a killer bassline and lean and mean drums behind the sultry vocal, whereas the "Free House Mix" takes a turn into bubbling electro and acid without losing that smouldering sassiness. The "NU Style Mix" is an added treat that places the emphasis on the drums, screaming out for some seriously creative mixing.

The duo of Cocktail alumni Luigi Di Venere and Jules Etienne present three tracks aimed to induce a dance floor hypnosis. Orgonite (Riding the Waves) does just that, a slow build awash in the ebb and flow of acid tinges, just enough to wet your whistle on a Saturday night. The original mix keeps the skeletal support but throws in a life preserver of 8 bit gaming synthesis. Frisky arps call and respond to each other before making way for sinewy pads to lift off. Tiger's Eye sets itself onto cruising speed incorporating elements of late 90's acid techno with the sleek and smooth clubbing aesthetics of modern day Berlin.

Review: The Valley and the Mountain aka TVTM aka Josh Dahlberg makes a bold return with 'A Number of Northwests', an EP which tells the tale of an artist in transition. Quite literally, that is, as he moved from Detroit's westside to the very far edges of the Pacific Northwest. Musical this is a stylistically diverse offering with four cuts starting with the mid-tempo smooth grooves of 'Bretton Drive' and glistening synths and pads of the cosmically minded 'Grand River Slide'. The chugging 'Ramps to Nowhere' is a dubbed out afters classic and then the one and only dusty deep house don DJ Aakmael remixes it into another cuddly classic.

Review: Motor City mainstay and former Slum Village associate DJ Dez Andres has many skills up his sleeve from mad scratching to vibrant Latin flavour mixes that draw on his Cuban heritage via dusty house rollers and deep hip-hop gems. Here he mixes all that up on a new EP for Beretta Music that is now available on purple vinyl. His sunny and delightful melodies are present and correct in each cut, as are his signature slouchy and hip-hop-inspired drums. All four of the tunes hit the sweet spot but the funky boucle of 'Back To Nature' is one that really stands out here.
