Review: Stone's Throw has never really made any wrong moves in our opinion, and here the label puts its full force behind a deceptively powerful album. Taking us to places that are deeper than perhaps what the imprint is best known for, this is immersive, hypnotic, otherworldly stuff made from a variety of plugged in machines, analogue and otherwise, including a semi-modular synth. The result is a journey-style collection packed with atmosphere but one that's also painstakingly detailed and textured. Sound waves are rendered almost visible by the movements, drones, tracks and other pieces here, drum and effects machines producing the kind of noises that mesmerise and suck you in further as time passes. Tunes to get lost in, the only remaining question is whether anyone will ever want to return.

Review: Here comes Brooklyn's finest, Your Old Droog, with a double feature of EPs previously confined to Bandcamp. Natures Sounds have gathered together 2022's The Yodfather and The Shining and pressed them up on a platter and there's no doubt both releases are more than worthy of the extra shine. While you might expect such cinema-referencing projects to be loaded with bait samples, Droog works in more subtle ways, laying down his killer flows over those blunted, off-kilter beats that mark him out as one of the strongest voices in US hip-hop right now.

Review: Apart from being the quippiest record title you'll see for a while, Flume's third mixtape is up there with the most anticipated electronic releases of the year. The Australian producer and DJ has been on a meteoric global rise over the past couple of years, having started picking up major awards around halfway through the last decade, both in his homeland and overseas - with second album, Skin, winning both an ARIA and Grammy in 2017. Last year's Palaces proved he was still making all the right noises and this was followed by 2023's Arrived Anxious Left Bored. Running at 37-minutes, the mainstage garage-house-step stuff is delivered quick fire, taking us through the sonic world of an artist who has managed to rise to the top of dance music without forgetting the foundation blocks of the entire spectrum.

Review: Here's another classic from the archives of the Drexciya-verse, as Disciples track back ten years to revive a somewhat overlooked masterpiece from Gerald Donald, Penelope and Sherard Ingram. Originally released in WeMe, Commodified is a powerful demonstration of electro as more than dancefloor machine funk. There's a strong sense of Ingram's Stingray sound in the eerie sheen of the atmospherics, while Penelope's deep-running history as a techno and electro DJ in Spain bring a sense of structural focus to the project, but it's unmistakably glued together by Donald's distinctive sound and vision. If this got missed by some on its initial release, this reissue should help place it firmly in the forefront of Drexciya's many devoted fans.

Review: Having just recently made his major acting role debut in Martin Scorsese's Killers Of The Flower Moon, what an opportune time to reissue the debut solo album from former Drive By Truckers lead guitarist Jason Isbell. Originally released in 2007, Sirens Of The Ditch awarded the songwriter a chance to put his own voice front and centre, with a bluesy concoction of neofolk/alt-country meets indie-pop. Working with former bandmates as well as the iconic Spooner Oldham, in an effort to capture a balance between primitive folk aesthetics and modern pop sensibilities, Isbell managed to craft a startling debut that weaves its deft narratives around saccharine compositions, while charting out an immensely successful solo career with even his latest, exceptional ninth full-length Weathervanes landing earlier this year.

Review: The Daily Flash originated in Seattle in 1965, and true to their name burned bright and fast for around three years before disbanding. Fronted by Steve Lalor and with Doug Hastings on guitar, it's also noticeable their drummer was Jon Keliehor, who has since had an accomplished career in ambient and experimental music. As a perfect embodiment of the original psychedelic wave when it was still relatively attached to 60s pop, The Daily Flash have been revisited in scattershot form over the years, but finally their outstanding archive of recordings has been gathered in one coherent compilation which covers their brief but brilliant tenure.

Review: The debut/second album from Los Angeles hardcore punk heroes Youth Brigade originally stemmed from the band rushing to complete their first LP before embarking on their infamous Another State Of Mind tour with Social Distortion in 1982. Opting to cease pressing at only 800 units and returning to the studio following the end of tour, the re-recorded re-imagined version of Sound & Fury that fans know, love and worship, only kept four of the original cuts while re-working the remainder of the material into the feral, angst-riddled beast that lifers have been pining over for a repress for a many a decade. Review: .The last full length we had from Federico Amorosi and Valerio Lombardozzi, AKA Dressel Amorosi, was a pretty scary place to spend time. Themed around late-mid-20th Century Italian horror movies (see: Dario Argento), the record paid homage to the iconic sounds of that culture, but also refused to simply rehash the past. An atmospheric, spine-tingling collection of suspenseful synth-first stuff, it also benefited from landing around the same time as a new Stranger Things series. A year on and things are now on a slightly less tense route. Spectrum is still looking to offer thanks to the Italian film industry as was a few decades back - specifically for gifting us so many amazing soundtracks. But this time round we're much closer to the glam and glitz of a Roma Italo party than anything like the Upside Down, while still packing depth and atmosphere.

Review: We live in a vastly different world to the one Aisha Devi presented her last album to. The critically acclaimed DNA Feelings was a dark, ethereal, world-making record, the kind of thing that lures you deeper into incredibly original soundscapes that feel born from theatre as much as rave culture. Five years on, the follow up Death Is Home arrives and picks up where its predecessor left off, opening on the menacing, tense and eerie 'Not Defined By The Visible'. Release information puts this as her most personal record to date, and while we'll have to take that as gospel it's certainly - and remarkably - even more explorative than ever. Tracks like 'Unborn Yet Alive' marry weird choral, twisted art rock, euphoric electronica, and more. 'Lick Your Wounds' is a synthesised opera looking for a new Terminator movie (and hopefully a good one), while 'Azoth Eyes' leaves us in completely unfamiliar territory, closing out with impact that's hard to compare.
