Jesus Gonsev & Javonntte - "Feel The Beat In The Air" (5:55)
Review: Madrid-based label Mate makes a strong first impression with this assured slab of deep house goodness from Jesus Gonsev and Javonntte. Javonntte needs little introduction - the US producer and vocalist has forged a strong legacy in just a short time from NDATL and Sistrum Recordings to Skylax and Quintessentials. Gonsev has been active for many years, previously appearing on labels like Troubled Kids and more recently deepArtSounds and Altered Moods. As you might expect then, the vibe is heartfelt and mature on this 12", not least when the two team up for the bumping "Feel The Beat In The Air".
Review: There has certainly been a revived interest in the work of underrated Detroit veteran Brian Garrett's work, with unreleased gems from his archive and new material alike making big impression on a new generation of dancers. His latest one comes courtesy of We Will Always Be A Love Song following some great ones by Ilija Rudman, Ponty Mython and Melchior Sultana. It is a another terrific expression of real proper deep house music. From the driving and hypnotic dub of "January People" to the soulful and uplifting mood lighting of "All Right" and sexy, emotive late night groove ("City To City") - nobody does it quite like Javonntte.

Review: When David Armin-Parcells (aka Lafleur) first opened MotorCity Wine back in 2009, it quickly established itself as a premier underground spot for both house and disco deejays as well as the city's prolific jazz artists. Fast forward 8 years and the venue is thriving as one of Detroit's go-to venues, boasting an excessively high quality line up of both house and jazz residents, from Monty Luke and Rick Wilhite, to OG funk brother Dennis Coffey and Ian Finkelstein, to Shigeto and Underground Resistance, to the Hughes/Smith Quintet and B. Williams, to Norm Talley & Carl Craig. After a 3 year residency at MotorCity Wine, Lafleur tapped in Peter Croce of Rocksteady Disco to make the venue's mark outside of the city with a label, highlighting the half house half jazz sound that makes the venue great.
Review: Quality Vibe sub label Traxx Underground (founded in 2012 and run by Samann) is the latest imprint to get hold of more valued work from the vaults of legendary Brian Garrett aka Javonntte, following up his appearances on labels like Quintessentials, LPH White and Skylax. The Italian label presents the deep and soulful bounce of "Makes Me Feel" a classic and timeless stateside house feel. On the flip, we are treated to the super sexy JB Dub which is injected with more dancefloor dynamics and a handy instrumental version too.
