Presonus Quantum 4848 Thunderbolt Audio Interface With Studio One Professional Software Presonus Quantum 4848 Thunderbolt Audio Interface With Studio One Professional Software
Cat: 707836 Rel: 26 Nov 18

24-bit 192 kHz Thunderbolt audio interface with Studio One Professional
Notes: Complete digital integration for the analogue studio:

Designed for the needs of the recording professional, the Quantum 4848 is the perfect solution to take your analogue gear into the digital domain. Equipped with 32 inputs and outputs of DB25 line-level connectivity and pristine digital conversion with 120 dB of dynamic range, the Quantum 4848 allows you to bring vintage and boutique analogue gear into your DAW at blazingly fast speed thanks to its near-zero-latency Thunderbolt interface. 16 additional channels of ADAT Optical I/O let you tie in digital gear, and you can expand your simultaneous I/O to 192 channels. The included Studio Oner Professional DAW features Pipeline XT, allowing you to use your analogue gear as plug-ins inside your Studio One session.

The perfect companion for your patchbay:

With the Quantum 4848, your audio interface is an integrated extension of your recording environment. Rear panel DB25 line-level I/O makes connecting your Quantum 4848 to your existing analogue patchbay a breeze. With 32 channels of inputs and outputs at sample rates up to 192 kHz, you can route audio from your vintage gear and analogue recording console to your DAW and back in pristine quality, capturing every nuance of your boutique equipment. Integrating digital gear is facilitated by 16 channels of ADAT I/O. For a full complement of 48 channels of conversion, you can simply add two DigiMax DP88s via the 16 ADAT channels. A true Thunderbolt device, up to 4 Quantum 4848 interfaces can be stacked to create a 192x192 system - or combine the Quantum 4848 with Quantum and Quantum 2 interfaces to add PreSonus' recallable XMAX Class A high-headroom preamps.

Superior software integration:

Studio One Professional's Pipeline XT plug-in lets you insert hardware processors into your Studio One session with automatic latency compensation. Once inserted, Pipeline XT functions just like any other plug-in effect, allowing you to drag and drop it from one channel to the next or change the insert order. Studio One's latency management allows you to stay in the native processing domain throughout the entire production process, so you can easily mix and match your favourite plug-ins with your favourite boutique hardware processors. Furthermore, Studio One allows the Quantum 4848 to go as fast as you need-flexible dropout protection reduces the risk of audio dropouts in large, CPU-heavy songs, even at very small buffer settings.

Superior speed:

Every design decision during Quantum's engineering was made with one goal in mind: speed. Quantum sports high-speed Thunderbolt connectivity and a no-frills, direct-to-DAW architecture that was designed to transport your audio to and from your DAW with an imperceptible amount of latency. Cutting-edge 24-bit, 192 kHz converters with 120 dB of dynamic range ensures the fidelity of your audio as it moves to the digital domain.

Superior flexibility:

Some DAWs limit your I/O access when you use third-party audio interfaces. The Quantum 4848 resolves this issue by providing three Channel Profile modes that allow you to adapt the input and output channel configuration when the application you're using limits you to 32 inputs and outputs or less. Set the Quantum 4848 to use 32 analogue inputs with 16 channels of ADAT, 24 analogue inputs with 8 channels of ADAT, or 16 analogue inputs with 16 channels of ADAT to customize the assortment of analogue and digital inputs and better accommodate your needs. And if you get tired of limiting your available inputs, launch Studio One Professional to record up to 192 simultaneous inputs, mix and master your sessions all from the same software.

Superior sound:

Audiophile-grade digital converters and low-jitter clocking create a superior recording and listening experience. The Quantum audio interface operates at up to 192 kHz for ultra-high-definition mixing and recording. High-quality converters on every input and output provide 120 dB of dynamic range to capture complex musical harmonics smoothly and naturally with no audible distortion. BNC word clock I/O and low-jitter clocking ensure the Quantum 4848 and other digital audio devices operate in tight sync for superior imaging.

Behringer S32 Digital I/O Stagebox Behringer S32 Digital I/O Stagebox Behringer S32 Digital I/O Stagebox Behringer S32 Digital I/O Stagebox
Cat: 584360 Rel: 22 Dec 15

I/O box with 32 remote controllable MIDAS preamps, 16 outputs and AES50 networking featuring KLARK TEKNIK superMac technology
Notes: The S32 provides 32 MIDAS-designed remote-controllable mic preamps, plus 16 balanced analog XLR returns at the stage end - and all it takes is a single Cat 5e cable (up to 328 ft / 100 m). While KLARK TEKNIK, the industry-leader in high-end digital audio processing, invented the AES50 SuperMAC technology that made it all possible - Behringer's superb scale of production makes the S32 so very affordable.

Ever since its formation in the 1970s, MIDAS has had a long history of innovation and leadership in the world of audio mixing consoles. Employed by the most famous touring acts and installations world-wide, legendary MIDAS consoles such as the XL4 and Heritage H3000 quickly became industry standards.

MIDAS has earned their impeccable reputation due to their no-compromise approach for audio and build quality and in particular for their Award-winning Mic Preamps which are considered by industry experts as the industry's best sounding designs. Building on this legacy, the XL8 and PRO Series of Live Mixing Systems continue this great heritage of Award-winning audio quality.

BEHRINGER is proud to incorporate a MIDAS designed mic preamp for the ultimate in high-quality audio reproduction in both live and studio environments. Find out more about MIDAS' amazing legacy by visiting their extensive website.

When used as part of a complete X32 system, two S32 Stage Boxes can be connected via the mixer's built-in dual AES50 ports, providing connectivity for up to 64 remote mic/line inputs, 32 balanced outputs and the awesome POWERPLAY P-16 Personal Monitoring System - which can feed up to 16 individual monitor mixes via CAT5 to every musician on stage. When 32 inputs are not enough, an S32 Stage Box may also be cascaded with an S16 or SD16 for full use of the 48-channel bidirectional capacity of AES50 SuperMAC networking on just one CAT5 line. Behringer also included 2 optical ADAT outputs and two AES-3 (AES/EBU) stereo outputs for digitally connecting to outboard devices, such as PA system controllers. The S32 also features a convenient USB port for system updates via your PC - plus MIDI I/O for your lighting systems and sound module control.

The S32 was initially designed with Behringer's flagship X32 Digital Mixing Console in mind, but any mixing board with AES50 networking capability can still tap directly into the S32's powerful feature set. For instance, an S32 and X32 CORE can be used to create an amazing power-combo for remote controlled digital mixing in only 4U. While the X32 CORE may be used to run an independent monitor mix, it can also relay and share all I/O with the FOH - whether you are using an X32 Series console, or any other digital mixer that supports MADI, Dante, ADAT or AES50 I/O. Behringer offer very reasonably priced option cards to replace the standard 32 x 32 channel USB interface for exactly that purpose. You can even choose to run the complete show from the stage racks X32 CORE via Behringer's remote control apps. And since the S32 and X32 CORE communicate via AES50, they don't even have to live in the same physical rack, but can be separated by up to 100 m (328') of CAT5 cabling, if that is more convenient for your venue.

The world-renowned engineers at KLARK TEKNIK, MIDAS, TURBOSOUND and BEHRINGER have all come together to create something truly innovative that will change your live and studio workflow forever - welcome to ULTRANET. This revolutionary technology seamlessly transmits up to 16 independent channels of 24-bit digital audio and control data via a single Cat 5e cable between compatible digital devices - including mixers, I/O stage boxes, powered loudspeakers and personal monitoring systems. Advantages realized through ULTRANET digital networking, versus traditional analog methods, include: all audio signals are impervious to Radio Frequency Interference (RFI); signal crosstalk is eliminated, and ease of use translates directly into a significant amount of time saved during show setup or installation. ULTRANET effectuates a powerful digital eco-system that gives you unparalleled ease of deployment, performance and control for BEHRINGER P16 Personal Monitoring Systems and Turbosound iQ Speaker Series.

As you can see, the S32 is an extremely versatile 32 x 16 digital stage box solution with remote controllable MIDAS-designed mic preamps, KLARK TEKNIK's AES50 connectivity and a wealth of other professional-grade features - all at a price anyone can afford! Built tough enough to withstand the rigors of the road, the S32 only takes up only three rack spaces and connects to FOH with a single, inexpensive Cat 5e cable, such as the KLARK TEKNIK NCAT5E-50M. Now you can have the missing link between the stage and FOH at a fraction of the cost of competing systems - and Behringer back it up with a comprehensive warranty program.

Need more I/O? Expansion possibilities are seamless and virtually limitless.

The 1248 employs latest-generation ESS Sabre32 Ultra converters, known for their industry-leading performance, together with expertly engineered analog circuits that reflect more than three decades of pro audio engineering expertise. The result? The 1248 achieves actual, measured performance of 123 dB dynamic range (A-weighted, 20 Hz to 20 kHz) on its balanced TRS analog outputs.

Every digital audio workflow has some latency. The only question is, how much? In the case of the 1248, the answer is, not much at all. In the 1248, latency is measured in a handful of samples, from the time an audio signal first goes digital to its arrival somewhere else (to an output, the mixer, or the computer). By keeping latency this low in the hardware, the 1248 helps minimize latency introduced by your host software.

Thunderbolt lets you connect displays, hard drives, and other peripherals to your computer, along with the 1248, and the Thunderbolt bus won't even break a sweat. But more importantly, Thunderbolt gives you an astonishing 256 channels of computer I/O (128 in and out). You can use them to route audio to the physical inputs and outputs on the 1248, plus the 48-channel mixer inside the 1248, plus audio network streams. The 1248 is the first and only interface to combine Thunderbolt I/O connectivity with AVB audio networking.

Don't have a Thunderbolt-equipped computer yet? Hi-speed USB 2.0 provides across-the-board compatibility with pretty much all laptops and desktops. The 1248 is USB audio class compliant, which means you enjoy OS-level USB compatibility and support, including iPad support (with a camera connection kit). Since USB 2.0 devices are compatible with USB 3.0-equipped hosts, your 1248 interface is a future-proof investment in your studio.

The 1248 is equipped with a 48-channel digital mixer designed just like a large format mixing console. The 48 inputs can take signal from anywhere: the physical inputs on the 1248 interface itself, audio channels from host software on your computer, audio network streams, or even mixer outputs. The mixer provides 7 stereo aux busses, 3 groups, a reverb bus that can alternately serve as a 4th group, a Main Mix bus and a separate Monitor bus that can serve as a solo bus. In essence: capable and transparent mixing.

British analog mixing consoles and renowned for their musical EQ profiles. The 1248 meticulously models these classic EQs to give you the very same, magical EQ response found on there coveted desks. Each input channel also provides a classic compressor module with optional peak/RMS operation. Groups and the Main Mix bus are equipped with MOTU's Leveler, an accurate model of the legendary Teletronix LA-2A optical levelling amplifier, known for its unique and highly sought-after Automatic Gain Control (AGC) characteristics.

With one click on the 1248's routing grid, you can route any source signal to any destination. Sources can be analog or digital inputs on the interface, computer channels, mixer bus outputs, or audio network streams from other devices on the network. Destinations include interface outputs, host software inputs, mixer inputs, or any other device (or computer) on the AVB network. You can even split any single input (or stereo pair) to unlimited multiple output destinations.

The 1248 network port includes AVB Ethernet, the new industry standard developed by the IEEE for professional audio networking. Add a second MOTU AVB interface (1248, 8M or 16A) with a simple Cat-5e or CAT-6 ethernet cable.

The 16A is USB audio class compliant, which means you enjoy OS-level USB compatibility and support, including iPad support (with a camera connection kit). Since USB 2.0 devices are compatible with USB 3.0-equipped hosts, your 16A interface is a future-proof investment in your studio.

The 16A is equipped with a 48-channel digital mixer designed just like a large format mixing console. The 48 inputs can take signal from anywhere: the physical inputs on the 16A interface itself, audio channels from host software on your computer, audio network streams, or even mixer outputs. The mixer provides 7 stereo aux busses, 3 groups, a reverb bus that can alternately serve as a 4th group, a Main Mix bus and separate Monitor bus that can serve as a solo bus. In essence: capable and transparent mixing.

British analog mixing consoles are renowned for their musical EQ profiles. The 16A meticulously models these classic EQs to give you the very same, magical EQ response found on these coveted desks. Each input channel also provides a classic compressor module with optional peak/RMS operation. Groups and the Main Mix bus are equipped with MOTU's Leveler™, an accurate model of the legendary Teletronix™ LA-2A™ optical leveling amplifier, known for its unique and highly sought-after Automatic Gain Control (AGC) characteristics.

With one click on the 16A's routing grid, you can route any source signal to any destination.

The 16A network port introduces AVB Ethernet, the new industry standard developed by the IEEE for professional audio networking. Add a second MOTU AVB interface (1248, 8M or 16A) with a simple Cat-5e or CAT-6 ethernet cable.

The software that you can use to control the 16A doesn't reside on your hard drive. It's a web app served from the hardware itself. This means you can control the 16A's on-board DSP, mixing, device settings, and network audio routing from the web app software running in your favourite web browser on a laptop tablet or smart phone connected by wire or Wi-Fi to your local area network. Use any web client on any platform - Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android - as long as it shared the same network.

Connect an Apple Airport or other Wi-Fi router directly to the 16A with a standard Ethernet cable and control the 16A's powerful mixing and DSP effects from your smart phone or tablet, without a computer. Great for live sound mixing!

Unprecedented flexibility and compatibility combines with RME's famous low latency hardware and driver designs, guaranteeing flawless operation for any multi-channel recording application, whilst the inclusion of DURec (Direct USB Recording) provides extensive options for backup recordings and stand-alone operation.

The ultimate professional tool for multi-track recording, mixing and mastering, the RME Fireface UFX III is packed with professional features including:

USB 3.0 (full 94 channel I/O Class Compliant; USB-C compatible)
SteadyClock FS
Powerful integrated DSP
TotalMix FX
TotalMix Remote
DURec (Direct USB Recording)
MADI I/O (64 channels)
And support for the Advanced Remote Control USB (sold separately)

Powerful USB 3 Performance

The front panel of the Fireface UFX III provides four high-performance XLR/TRS combo inputs for microphone, instrument and line signals, two stereo headphone jacks with +19 dBu output level, MIDI I/O, and a USB port.

In combination with the DURec function (Direct USB Recording), the USB port allows independent recording of selected input and output signals (up to 80 channels) to a connected USB storage medium.

The rear panel reveals the full connectivity of the Fireface UFX III. Besides another MIDI I/O, the two optical ADAT I/Os, an AES/EBU I/O, and eight balanced analogue outputs with line level (including XLR stereo monitor outputs) are available.

With the new Multi-Mode, the two ADAT I/Os can be used as separate optical SPDIF inputs and outputs in addition to the AES I/O. Furthermore, the Fireface UFX III offers an optical MADI interface (SC) with 64 bidirectional channels. The Word Clock connectors (BNC) work as additional coaxial MADI input and output if required.

Comprehensive MADI Connectivity

The Fireface UFX III opens the doors to a host of RME and 3rd party digital and analogue I/O solutions.

Expanding your analogue channel count, the ability to route/mix within the digital domain through numerous sources presents many flexible options. Multiple external MADI devices can also be connected in series.

To further enhance MADI flexibility, the Fireface UFX III boasts some typical RME-style features. For example in USB 2 mode, which is limited to 30 channels I/O (12 analogue plus 16 ADAT plus AES), the MADI I/O is still available via RME's integrated hardware mixer TotalMix FX.

Word Clock I/O (BNC) can be switched to MADI I/O (coaxial), and a special split mode even supports the use of both MADI I/Os simultaneously, with 32 channel each on optical and coaxial.

SteadyClock FS - FemtoSecond Clocking Technology

The RME Fireface UFX III also features RME's latest digital clocking and jitter rejection technology, 'SteadyClock FS'.

Originally developed for RME's award-winning ADI-2 Pro FS range of high-end converters, SteadyClock FS reduces intrinsic jitter to a new all-time low, when converting to and from analogue over all digital formats.

All clock modes provide excellent performance and astonishingly high-quality analogue conversion, allowing you to hear your mix exactly as it is.

What's more, RME's digital format conversion occurs without any loss to the signal, and SteadyClock FS ensures your sonic image will never experience any kind of degradation, ensuring the soundstage is replicated to the fullest depth and clarity.

Powerful Applications for Mixing, Monitoring and Measurement included

The Fireface UFX III comes with the TotalMix FX DSP mixer, offering comprehensive routing and monitoring options for all analogue and digital audio channels, as well as the DIGICheck Analyzer, which allows users to measure and analyze digital audio data feeds (in both directions) with maximum precision.

TotalMix FX can completely replace an external mixer, enabling the creation of multiple latency-free monitor mixes with EQ, Dynamics, Reverb and Delay for any outputs, including main monitors, submixes, and headphone mixes for musicians.

A free companion app, TotalMix Remote is a network-controllable remote for TotalMix FX, enabling control over interface's hardware mixer and effects from another Mac, PC or iPad, including wirelessly over Wi-Fi.

TotalMix Remote mirrors the current state of the host system on the iPad and Windows/Mac computers - the entire mixing state, the complete routing, all FX settings, up to the level meters, and everything in real time.

DC-Coupled Outputs - CV/Gate Voltage Control

Most audio interfaces are traditionally designed with what is called 'AC-coupled outputs', where capacitors are used to filter out any extreme low frequencies.

Whilst these frequencies are generally considered undesirable for audio - eating into headroom and potentially causing damage to other equipment - one instance where DC-coupling remains desirable is the world of modular synthesizers, where static or slow-moving signals are used for control over various parameters such as pitch note values or LFOs.

All of the Fireface UFX III's line-level outputs are fully DC-coupled, allowing for the sending of control voltages (CV) or Gate information to modular synthesizers (such as the popular Eurorack and Moog/MOTM/Synthesizers formats) and other studio hardware.

USB 3 Class Compliant Audio

The Fireface UFX III operates in two different modes: driver-based and Class Compliant.

Class Compliant mode is a standard that is natively supported by operating systems like Windows, Mac OSX and Linux distributions, allowing for Plug 'n' Play operation of the Fireface UFX III. No proprietary drivers are required, the device will be directly recognised when the CC firmware is loaded.

The Fireface UFX III is RME's first audio interface with full USB 3.0 support in Class Compliant Mode. This makes all channels available in driverless operation for Linux, Mac and iPadOS.

An iPad Pro with USB-C can manage up to 94 channels for recording and playback in TotalMix FX for iPad and on system level.

ARC USB Remote Control (sold separately)

The ARC USB is an optional remote control for the Fireface UFX III, along with all other RME devices that use TotalMix FX.

15 user-assignable illuminated buttons, one encoder wheel, and a TS jack (for connecting a foot switch) provide access to all of the most used functions of TotalMix FX.

The ARC USB can be connected directly to the Fireface UFX III via the second USB port on the back of the interface, or directly to a USB port on a Mac or PC.

Operating as a UAC 1 class device, the RME ARC USB is natively compatible with Windows and Mac OS X. As soon as it is present in the operating system, TotaIMix FX will automatically detect the ARC USB, and communicate with it via simple MIDI remote commands to control the UFX III.

DURec (Direct USB Recording)

DURec is an integrated digital recorder for all inputs and outputs directly to USB memory devices via the front USB port. The Fireface UFX III records on USB thumb drives or hard drives with up to 2 TB capacity.

The recording functionality is provided by the internal DSP, and is therefore independent from a connected Windows or Mac computer. The Direct USB Recording converts the Fireface UFX Series both into a stand-alone field recorder and a powerful multichannel live player for previous recordings, e. g. for virtual sound checks.

Live concerts, band rehearsals or spontaneous jam sessions can be directly recorded and played back from the medium - even completely stand-alone without computer or software.

RME Digiface AES - 30-Channel, 192 kHz

USB Bus-powered Audio Interface

The RME Digiface AES is a professional 14 input and 16 output channel USB 2.0 interface with 2 x Mic/Line analogue input channels and 4 x analogue output channels (2 XLR, one TRS phones) to complement its digital I/O section.

With an excellent set of digital connectivity, SteadyClock FS, full stand-alone operation and built-in parametric EQ, the Digiface AES shines as the perfect all-in-one solution for recording and playback of digital and analogue sources, as well as flexible playback/monitoring via TotalMix FX.

Bus-power compatibility meets flexible Analogue I/O Performance

The Digiface AES can be bus-powered over USB, doing away with the need for an external power supply. At the same time, the Digiface AES also ships with an included external DC-power supply for use in stand-alone operation, or as a secondary fail-safe against any potential computer failures.

For the main inputs RME uses the proven mic/line preamps in XLR combo configuration of the Babyface Pro FS. Two digitally controlled preamps provide individually switchable 48V phantom power. These circuits feature a gain range of 75 dB, adjustable in steps of 1 dB, including a relay-driven PAD, resulting in exceptional EIN (Equivalent Input Noise) performance as well as line overload protection, and enough gain for even the lowest level microphones.

On the back of the Digiface AES there are 2 balanced analogue outputs via XLR male to drive power amps, active monitor speakers, or recordings. The headphone output allows additional and independent high quality monitoring, providing sufficient output power and volume on high and low impedance headphones.

Connectivity & Features

Versatile Digital Input and Output Connectivity
The comprehensive set of digital I/Os, centered around an AES/EBU input and output via XLR, also includes SPDIF coax, SPDIF optical or 8-channel ADAT.

All I/Os can be used simultaneously, turning the unit into a swiss-army-knife interface that receives and sends all common digital audio formats.

MIDI I/O via an included breakout cable completes the package.

Integrated SRC (Sample Rate Converter)

An integrated SRC (Sample Rate Converter) can be switched to one of the three inputs to solve clocking issues and to adapt to other sample rates.

This allows, for example, the device to be AES clock-synchronized from the main source and to listen to SPDIF independently at the same time.

Full Stand-alone Functionality

Convenient, direct access and control of all features is available directly from the front panel. Four select keys; an encoder; a high-resolution display with clear color output; and a well thought-out menu structure allow for quick changes and configuration of the device.

Supplier's Notes:
RME's reference AD/DA converter is a host of devices all put together into one unit, with a simple and mostly automated way of using it right out of the box. A unit with the industry's biggest footprint per feature ratio, excellent tech specs, crystal clear and transparent sound signature, and two extremely powerful headphone outputs. The new ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition features the AK4493 chip, slightly improved specs and comes with the new extended Multi-Remote Control (MRC).

Ultra-fidelity PCM/DSD 768 kHz AD/DA Converter
As the most flexible converter available, the ADI-2 Pro offers balanced/unbalanced analog I/Os, double Extreme Power headphone outputs, SteadyClock III, 4-stage hardware input and output level control, DSP-based signal processing, external power supply operation, Class Compliant USB compatibility, sample rates up to 768 kHz as well as DSD record and Direct DSD playback (256 / 11.2 MHz).

Analog or Digital - Options Galore
The ADI-2 Pro includes two servo-balanced analog inputs on combo XLR / TRS jacks, two separate balanced and unbalanced outputs on XLR and TS, two stereo Extreme Power headphone outputs on the front, an optical SPDIF I/O that also understands ADAT, and coaxial SPDIF (RCA) and AES I/O (XLR) via an included breakout cable. This universal set of I/O options offers superior quality and flexible connectivity to those who take a no-compromise approach to audio.

The USB 2.0 port is fully Class Compliant (UAC 2) for connection with compatible iOS devices, and is also used for firmware updates. Including an external switched power supply with lockable connector, the ADI-2 Pro can be easily powered from battery, opening up mobile applications as well as galvanically isolated use cases.
As a computer interface the ADI-2 Pro offers a stereo (2 in / 2 out) and a multichannel mode (6 in / 8 out). Compatibility with Mac OS X comes right out of the box. Under Windows the ADI-2 Pro uses RME's MADIface series driver, for full WDM and ASIO compatibility and highest performance.

Perfect Sound Capture and Reproduction
Aiming for the absolute reference sound, any detail in the ADI-2 Pro is special and has its own story. The main PCB is an extraordinary 10 layer design with custom copper thickness, guaranteeing finest undisturbed sound as well as ample but separated power for the phones outputs. Internal power supply stages and precise regulators use a super-low-noise design to not degrade performance through the power rails. Selected SoundPlus operational amplifiers maintain highest SNR, lowest THD and high slew rate under all conditions. The whole analog circuit design is fully symmetrical and balanced throughout - and DC-coupled. The only capacitors in the signal path perform DC protection at the analog input sockets, and have been carefully selected to avoid any sonic impact.

The 4-channel AD-converter, supporting 786 kHz sample rate and DSD recording, is used in a dual mono design, with 3 dB improved signal to noise ratio. Two premium DACs are used for two separate stereo outputs. Internal audio processing like EQs, Crossfeed and spectral analysis, is done by a high performance DSP with 2.17 Giga FLOPS (2882 MIPS), delivering enough computing power to work even at 768 kHz sample rate.

For easy operation a high quality Sample Rate Converter has been added, switchable to the AES or SPDIF input, solving any clocking problem between those. And RME's latest SteadyClock III technology ensures perfect jitter reduction and stable clocking, no matter if internal or external clocks are used.

High Resolution Display Operation
RME have incorporated many unique features, not found on any comparable devices, like 5-band parametric EQs for fully individual phones compensation, adjustable Bass/Treble controls with quick access, a binaural crossfeed function, adjustable loudness filter, selectable AD/DA filters, four discrete I/O reference levels, auto reference level setting, auto balanced phones mode, and many more. The display is not only used to control the unit, but also shows warning and guidance messages.

Professional features such as M/S Processing, stereo width and phase reversal up to full control and storage of all settings are included, as well as RME's famous Spectral Analyzer, a 30-band biquad filtered analysis tool offering unprecedented musical visualization, perfectly complementing the high-resolution IPS display.

The Fireface UCX II is a highly integrated pro audio solution in an ultra-compact format. Designed for use in studio and live recording, the UCX II continues RME's tradition of producing powerful and flexible interfaces for the professional audio market, packing the kind of connectivity and features into a half-rack size unit that is often spread over two - or even three - 19 inch panels.

With up to 20 channels recording and 20 channels playback; RME's stellar SteadyClock FS digital clocking technology; high performance microphone inputs; TotalMix FX mixing and routing software (complete with Parametric EQ and Dynamics processing on every channel, plus Echo and Reverb sends); stand-alone hard disk recording to external USB hard drives or pen drives via 'DURec' (Direct USB Recording); MIDI I/O; a powerful headphone output; and full stand-alone operation, the Fireface UCX II excels with the highest feature to space ratio ever from an RME device.

Developed in time to celebrate the company's 25th anniversary, the RME Fireface UCX II represents the culmination and refinement of 25 years of digital audio innovation.

Throughout its 25 year history, RME has been fully committed to a principle of flexibility - the more flexible a product, the more easily it can be adapted to new requirements. For company founder Matthias Carstens, this lies at the heart of RME's success: "The Fireface UCX II makes us proud and enthusiastic as it represents a natural evolution of our product range."

"Boasting up to 20 recording and 20 playback channels, SteadyClock FS, high-performance microphone inputs, built-in parametric EQ, USB direct recording plus full stand-alone functionality, the brand-new Fireface UCX II truly represents the essence of freedom, flexibility, and passion. At present, no existing audio interface offers more connectivity and functionality in a half-rack package."

The Fireface UCX II houses two mic/line preamps in XLR combo configuration on the front panel, along with two digitally controlled line/instrument inputs, followed by a headphone jack, various control buttons, a display, and the main volume knob. At the rear is a set of ten analogue balanced line inputs and outputs, MIDI I/O, ADAT I/O, AES/EBU and SPDIF I/O, USB 2.0 as well as a switchable word clock I/O.

The RME Fireface UCX II is the first half-rack interface from RME to feature RME's Direct USB Recording (DURec) functionality. Previously only found on RME's Fireface UFX, UFX II and UFX+, any of the Fireface UCX II's input or output channels can be recorded directly to a USB storage device - in any combination, up to and including all 40 channels simultaneously - via the dedicated USB port found on the back panel of the device.

Powered by the integrated DSP, DURec also enables the Fireface UCX II to be used for standalone recording and playback (i.e. without the need for a computer). Suggested applications include creating instantaneous backups of studio, live and rehearsal recording - acting as a fail-safe against a computer hardware failure - as well as for strand-alone field recording, or for use in virtual soundchecks (using DURec for playback of a previous night's live show recording).

The Fireface UCX II also features a Class Compliant / Plug 'n' Play mode, enabling the interface to be used for high-quality, mulit-track recording with an Apple iPad, and providing iPad users with a full set of professional analogue I/O connections.

Additionally, the optional TotalMix FX for iPad app adds full control over the TotalMix hardware mixer, giving users the ability to create, store and load complete mixes directly from the iPad.

All of the Fireface UCX II's line-level outputs are fully DC-coupled, allowing for the sending of control voltages (CV) or Gate information to modular synthesizers (such as the popular Eurorack and Moog/MOTM/Synthesizers.com formats) and other studio hardware.

Multi-channel audio and MIDI interface.
Notes: PlayAUDIO1U allows every working musician access to an easy, seamless, simple & straightforward failover solution.

PlayAUDIO1U fuses iConnectivity's vast engineering knowledge of the live arena, passion for performance, and decades of experience into one product. PlayAUDIO1U ensures working musicians never suffer the embarrassment of a silent show, ever again.

PlayAUDIO1U's secret in part is integrating two computers connected directly to the interface, forming an incredible redundancy / failover protection system. Should your main computer fail, PlayAUDIO1U switches to the backup computer in a heartbeat; so fast that you and your audience won't even notice. Backing tracks keep playing in time and your MIDI gear stays connected. It does this all in a package that is completely designed from the ground up made-to-tour.

PlayAUDIO1U also ships with iConnectivity's new and improved Auracle 2.0. Auracle 2.0 is fast, flexible and intelligent, allowing performers to create a sophisticated live integration of all audio and MIDI connections, inputs and outputs; Auracle lets you do it in minutes, not hours.
"PlayAUDIO1U builds on everything we learned in creating and then supporting users of our PlayAUDIO12, an interface that quickly became the industry standard," says Al Joelson, VP of Sales and Marketing. "This interface is designed to be an even more ready-to-gig, comprehensive solution. It's a crazy powerhouse of audio and MIDI capability for live performance. "

Enhance Your Recording Setup - Discover Unmatched Flexibility

The Fireface 802 FS benefits from ultra-low latency operation thanks to RME's renowned USB driver technology and driver stability. SteadyClock FS jitter suppression, individually switchable reference levels for all inputs and outputs and identical operation on Windows PC and Mac completes the package.

The Fireface 802 FS is based on a newly developed analogue and digital board. While the analogue board offers DC-coupled analogue outputs as well as new AD and DA converters, the digital board also enables interesting new features thanks to updated high-tech components.

The front panel of the Fireface 802 FS provides four high-performance XLR/TRS combo inputs for microphone, instrument and line signals and two stereo headphone jacks with +17 dBu output level, to provide high volumes even with hi-impedance headphones.

The rear panel reveals the full connectivity of the Fireface 802 FS. As well as MIDI and Word Clock I/O, the Fireface 802 FS is equipped with two optical ADAT I/Os, an AES/EBU I/O, and eight balanced analogue line-level inputs and outputs.

With the new Multi-Mode, the two ADAT I/Os can be used as separate optical SPDIF inputs and outputs in addition to the AES I/O. Users will also find a USB A port for connecting directly the optional ARC USB, offering tactile control of TotalMix FX.

Professional High-Transparency Preamps

The Fireface 802 FS features four crystal-clear preamps with ultra-low latency converters, using the classic technology of the OctaMic II, a high-end preamp providing supreme sonic quality.

All four preamps deliver extremely low distortion, excellent signal to noise ratio and a perfect linear frequency response, providing a premium solution for transmitting and amplifying any audio input exactly as it is heard, be it high-level stage or typical studio signals, lower level and high-impedance instruments, or dynamic, condenser and ribbon microphones.

The four inputs on the front use balanced XLR/TS combo sockets and operate alternatively as Hi-Z inputs. Directly plug in up to four guitars or other instruments - no other hardware required. Each channel can be individually switched to 48V phantom power or instrument mode. LEDs for signal, clip, TS operation and activated phantom power provide overview on the unit's status.

The Fireface 802 FS continues RME's tradition of designing full-featured, flexible and expandable audio systems. Adding additional preamplifiers or more analogue inputs is easily done via the dual ADAT optical I/Os on the rear.

SteadyClock FS - FemtoSecond Clocking Technology

The RME Fireface 802 FS also features RME's latest digital clocking and jitter rejection technology, 'SteadyClock FS'.

The Fireface 802 FS comes with the TotalMix FX DSP mixer offering comprehensive routing and monitoring options, as well as the DigiCheck Analyzer allowing to measure and analyse the digital data feed in both directions with maximum precision.

TotalMix FX can completely replace an external mixer, enabling the creation of multiple latency-free monitor mixes with EQ, Dynamics, Reverb and Delay for any outputs, incl. main monitors and headphone mixes for musicians.

The additional TotalMix Remote is a remote control for TotalMix FX, to control the hardware mixer and effects in RME audio interfaces. TotalMix Remote mirrors the current state of the host system on the iPad and Windows/Mac computers - the entire mixing state, the complete routing, all FX settings, up to the level meters, and everything in real-time. Easily adjust all the mixer and FX settings from a distance, via Ethernet and WiFi.

All of the Fireface UCX II's line-level outputs are fully DC-coupled, allowing for the sending of control voltages (CV) or Gate information to modular synthesizers (such as the popular Eurorack and Moog/MOTM/Synthesizers.com formats) and other studio hardware.

General Specifications:
