Review: Canadian thrash/power metal behemoths 3 Inches Of Blood celebrate the 20 year anniversary of their seminal sophomore effort Advance & Vanquish with this long overdue deluxe reissue. Noted for being the final studio endeavour before the departure of original guitarists Sunny Dhak and Bobby Froese (who would reform their prior band Pride Tiger), as well as being the only release to feature bassist Brian Redman and drummer Matt Wood, this Roadrunner Records debut established the band as metallic soothsayers of a retro-fitted variety, line up issues be damned. Bursting with triumphant, virtuosic riffage and lyrics drawing from deep sea pirate adventures, paganism and Lord Of The Rings lore, this is peak early 21st century metallic nerdiness at its most potent and earnest.

Review: It's a numbers game for Selections's 11th release as they welcome 4004 to the label for a sublime four-track outing. 'Mother' is as deep as house music gets and is steeped in US traditions and smoky basement atmospheres with candle-lit chords and fragments of soulful vocals. 'Father' then rides on bumpy drums but swirling Rhodes and dusty hits keep it pure vibes. 'Sister' ups the ante once more with chord vamps and a loopy low end that works you into a steamy lather and finally 'Brother' then cuts loose and dreamy pads and an aching vocal snippet and hints of gospel. Four tasteful house gems, all in all.

Review: 'Mysterious Vibes' is the latest of several new releases by piano trio 45trio for Bloom Music Japan. As always led by pianist and producer Swing-O, 45trio demonstrate here a slow-honed mastery of nighttime, quayside funk, with the titular A-side of this fresh 7" procuring a deft combo of searchlit synth and vivacious vocoder. The B's 'A Little Spice' breaks from this with a strutting walking bass and backbeat combo, harking an Afro-Brazilian piano tinge.

Review: The reissue of Night Passage by 49th Floor on Vibraphone Records is a testament to the label's commitment to quality deep house music. Originally released in 1992 as an Italian ambient house track, 'Night Passage' has been resurrected with identical tracklist as the original, which should delight fans. The Underground Radio Mix kicks off the release with its deep house rhythm and nostalgic piano melodies, capturing the essence of the original while infusing it with a contemporary groove. 'Fast City' adds a nice touch of Balearic flair to the EP, offering a deeper and more atmospheric vibe. On the flip side, the Magic Club Mix of 'Night Passage' elevates the track to peak-time dancefloor status with its infectious energy and pulsating beats. Finally, the Bongo Mix brings a percussive twist to the proceedings, injecting an extra layer of groove into the mix. Overall, 'Night Passage', is a great example at the ideal style of music that blossoming on the underground that perfectly fit the scenery in the Mediterranean.

Review: Artificial Owl Recordings welcomes aboard New Yorkers Satoshi Tomiie and Naotake Gunji for the label's fifth release; a recording of their collaborative A_A project and live show, which first came to light at the Fridman Gallery in Manhattan. A_A, an ongoing audio project, explores the visceral tension between floor-centric ambient electronica and improvised sound/audio performance. Here, found and object-activated sounds fire a collective dub trigger, producing a distinctly somatic regrounding across five original works.

But the ACEW label boss who bears the name makes a worthy attempt to justify it, laying down four killer downtempo dreams of the tongue-in-cheek, driving kind. 'Hypnotik' was clearly made with the aim to mesmerise in mind: 'Waz Up' and 'Sexy Waz' logically follow each other as snake-charming pendulum-swinging coldwave-chug trances to make up the A-side, while the B's 'Following' and 'Subreal' raise the pace again, deftly working illusory melodies round strangled electro workouts.

A Mirror Of Dreams: The Progressive Rock Revival 1981 To 1983 by Andrew Wild
Cat: 1006427 Rel: 21 Jun 24 • View all Music books

For A Mirror Of Dreams, Wild has interviewed no fewer than 85 musicians and other participants in the early 1980s progressive rock scene
Notes: Kingmaker Publishing, run by Big Big Train founder Gregory Spawton and Prog magazine journalist/Big Big Train manager Nick Shilton, is delighted to announce the publication of its latest book. A Mirror Of Dreams - The Progressive Rock Revival 1981 To 1983 by Andrew Wild.

Following Kingmaker's two highly acclaimed books on Genesis (Genesis: 1967 to 1975 - The Peter Gabriel Years and Genesis: 1975 to 2021 - The Phil Collins Years) and several other successful publications (including the autobiography of Marillion keyboardist Mark Kelly, Marillion, Misadventures & Marathons), A Mirror Of Dreams is the first of two books by Wild which provide the definitive account of the intertwined stories of the six bands which led the progressive rock revival: Marillion, IQ, Pallas, Pendragon, Solstice and Twelfth Night.

For A Mirror Of Dreams, Wild interviewed no fewer than 85 musicians and other participants in the early 1980s progressive rock scene. These interviews included most of the members of all the aforementioned bands as well as Abel Ganz, Airbridge, Comedy Of Errors, Electric Gypsy, Galahad, Haze, It Bites, Jadis, Janysium, Lahost, The Lens, Liaison, Multi Story, No-Man, Pride Of Passion, Quasar, Tamarisk, Trilogy and Twice Bitten. Additionally Wild spoke with key non-musical figures such as veteran Aylesbury Friars promoter David Stopps, former Marillion manager John Arnison and Nigel Hutchings, the former manager of the legendary Marquee Club in London.

Edited by Spawton and with a 2,000 word foreword by Prog magazine editor Jerry Ewing, the book features over 200 photographs and illustrations, many of which have either been previously unpublished or are very rare.

Spawton comments: "This is a book which I have long wanted to see written. It's the story of how, in the early 1980s, a number of rock bands ignored the naysayers and fashioned a second coming for the much-maligned and misunderstood genre of progressive rock."

Review: The amusingly named Lebanese free improvisation trio A Trio, formed in 2002 by Mazen Kerbaj Sharif Sehnaoui and Raed Yassin, are considered by some to be the oldest and most active free improv group in the Arab world. With such status comes ever-more impetus to release new music; The Binding Third is their first full-length LP since 2014, recorded live at the Sound Disobedience Festival in Ljubljana, Slovenia in 2019. Composed of two long-form pieces, we hear the trumpeter, reed player and double bassist respectively make use of extended and prepared techniques, in turn to create dizzying drones, textures, and noises that challenge the conventional roles of their instruments. The music is intense, dynamic, and unpredictable, reflecting the trio's 20+ years of experience and experimentation.

Aarni's music is effortlessly analogous to organic structures and growth, and the A-side is a blissfully suspended, gauzy trip, with resonant pads and emotive tintinnabulations permeating thick, gravelly clouds of teeming tape flutter. On the flip, hollow drones give way to a dense haze of soft noise and abstraction, before regressing to purer sine rumblings towards a cathartic conclusion.

Formed in 1973 by bassist Berthwel Maphumulo, Mac Mathunjwa on organ, Innocent Mathunjwa on drums, Joe Zikhali on guitar, Thema Maboneng was released in 1975, before being almost immediately forgotten. However, a recent rediscovery by diggers and curators Kon & Amir, for their lauded Off The Track Volume Two: Queens compilation, sparked a renewed interest; the South African four-piece shared equal responsibility in writing and arranging these six instrumentals, which are tight and full, and come replete with Hammonds, well-surrounded guitar, and cross-sticking snare hits.

Marking their sixth overall LP with former T.T. Quick frontman Mark Tornillo handling vocal duties (who has been with the group since their third reunion in 2009), the material here espouses genuine concerns over the increase of AI in modern technology and its careless displacement of artists from varying fields. Emboldened by frenetic, anthemic riffage and soaring melodious hooks, Accept are back to remind all of their vital influence and put every band who've come since back in their quiet little place atop the band's giant shoulders.

Review: Hydraulix Records continues to push the boundaries of ravey techno with Va03, a four-track EP that transports listeners back to the early '90s warehouse scene with its infectious energy and relentless beats. Side 1 kicks off with Acerbic's 'Deep In Your Mind,' a heavy sci-fi pounder that channels the essence of early '90s techno rave vibes. With nods to the big Belgium sounds and a prominent Hoover sound, this track is an instant banger that commands attention on the dancefloor. Following suit, Minor Dott's 'What You Callin Acid' delivers a menacing and sinister atmosphere, characterized by its mechanical and demonic undertones. It's a track that exudes raw power and intensity, perfect for those craving an adrenaline-fueled sonic experience. On Side 2, Andreas Kraemer & Shadym team up to bring us 'Reflect,' a percussive and loopy journey through hardcore rave sounds. The track pulsates with energy, immersing listeners in a hypnotic groove that's impossible to resist. Finishing things are Dave The Drummer & Phil Kershaw's 'Bassline Sunset,' a big room rave techno anthem that hits all the right notes. With its infectious bassline and euphoric atmosphere, this track is destined to ignite dancefloors worldwide. Each track on this EP offers a unique sonic experience, making it a must-have for fans of the early 90s rave scene.

Lead cut 'Radium' dates from 1995 and wraps alien electro sonics, proto-minimal techno motifs and pots and pans percussion around a deep bassline and hypnotic machine drums. The pair's passion for heads-down hypnotism and metallic noises is further explored on the superb 'Uranium Smuggle' (which originally appeared on the flip-side of 'Radium'), while 'Hibernation Drive' is a punchy and evocative electro number first released in 1997.

Cable tester device
Notes: Introducing ADDAC's Cable Tester, a desktop utility that provides a reliable means to test the integrity of both mono jacks and ribbon cables, ensuring that every connection is secure and electrically sound.

Individual Wire Testing - Featuring the ability to test each wire within the ribbon cables independently with dedicated LEDs for every wire, providing a clear visual indication of the status of each connection, wires are also tested against their neighbouring wires to detect shorts.

Busboard monitor

The busboard monitor LEDs allows the user to check the state of the busboard power lines as well as the special CV/Gate functions. If the busboard has no +5v supply the led will be off likewise for the CV/Gate functions if not in use.

This is a desktop device, ADDAC provide a long power cable so that it can still be plugged into your rack.

CV to expression module - 4HP
Notes: ADDAC309 CV to Expression allows a simple and straight forward connection between modular and effect pedals that features expression pedal TRS inputs.

Instead of using an expression pedal into the effects pedal the user can use this module in between a CV source and the Effects pedal to be controlled.

This is a great way to control the available parameters on the effects pedals straight from a CV source.

ADDAC309 features 2 channels each with a CV Input with attenuator and a 1/4" jack output.

This is a passive module, the power needed for operation is taken from the pedal power instead of the modular frame, this allows for perfect matching of the pedal's operating voltage which can range from 3.3v to 9v.

A CV generator based on the simulation of a physical system, ocean swells
Notes: Following ADDAC's ADDC503 Marble Physics here is a new simulation of a physical system. This time, imagine a small area in the middle of the ocean, in this area we place 4 equally spaced buoys anchored to the bottom in such a system that we can control the spacing between the buoys. Imagine we can control the elements and agitate the waters at will which in turn will make the buoys move up and down as the water surface moves.

Finally imagine the buoys would wirelessly transmit their absolute height directly to your module outputs where they would be mapped to a voltage signal.

ADDAC use a Gerstner Wave as the motor behind the two-dimensional wave generation. In fluid dynamics a Gerstner Wave is described as "a progressive wave of permanent form on the surface of an incompressible fluid of infinite depth". Gerstner waves are often used in computer graphics to simulate any type of water surface, if you've seen any animation film or computer game with water surfaces in it most probably it features a Gerstner wave generating it.

4-channel stereo mixer module - 8HP
Notes: ADDAC813 is a straight forward stereo mixer. Featuring 5 stereo channels, 4 of them with attenuators, a mono send/return path for parallel processing plus stereo and mono outputs

Four channels with stereo input and gain knob. Fifth channel with stereo input without gain knob, which are the prefered inputs to cascade several ADDAC813s when more channels are needed. Master Output controls the level of the Inputs mix. Two LEDs monitor the inputs mix.

Mono Send / Return return path allows for easy integration of mono effects in a stereo chain. Plug your favorite module through it (filter, bbd delay, spring reverb...) or any mono pedal.

The Return Gain works in parallel with the Master Output, just like regular wet / dry controls.

The send output can be configured to be line or synth level via a jumper in the back.

Stereo output sums the Inputs Mix with the Return signal.

The Mono output is the sum of Left and Right outputs

Effect Pedals

Using the send output at Line level, the user can connect the send output directly into mono effect pedals and have the pedals output connected directly into the return input without the need of an attenuator/amplifier module.

Otoma Da Naba
Review: A hugely exciting and thoroughly danceable new 7" from Florence Adooni, blowing any other artist who could even remotely hope to stake a worthy claim to contemporary highlife out of the park. Following up her debut single 'Fo Yelle' on Philophon, the Ghanaian Frafra Soul singer returns backed by an eight-member troupe, made up of young talents from the highlife scene of Kumasi, Ghana. 'Uh Ah Song' and its inverse counterpart 'Otoma Da Naba' are slick, clean and joyous daytime jaunts, with the former track lyrically meditating on familial and childhood themes while effortlessly pinning down a difficult-to-maintain-for-most uptempo highlife backbeat and improv. The B-side, meanwhile, pays tribute to the supreme terrestrial creator central to Adooni's native Frafra community, and centres on a heptatonic electronic, nigh acid riff and lo-fi texture with a "je ne sais qoui" that, in our view, renders it the tune of the year so far.

Made up entirely of sampled grooves from the deepest depths of Afro funk - and serving as a neat counterpart to their recent 'Disco Tape' series - an unknown hand, or collection of hands, make quick, choppy work of boxy drum breaks, six-string highlife bursts, raggy piano riffs and cymbal-happy breakdowns, which verge on the drawn-out side. Review: Following on from last year's critically acclaimed self-titled debut album, Los Angeles-based self-described "ecstatic black metal" outfit Agriculture return with a new EP titled Living Is Easy. Expanding their wall-of-sound sonics even further to conjure a form of saccharine abrasion with barrages of tremolo guitar-picking, blast-beating triumphant fury that echoes the likes of Deafheaven or Liturgy in their most epic moments, this is a form of metallic extremity crafted to help espouse negativity, not through negative sonics but by re-channelling said sonics through dexterous and uplifting cataclysms of audible euphoria. This 12" pressing is also coupled with the band's 2022 debut EP The Circle Chant, which has never been available on vinyl before now.

Review: Parisian techno talent AIROD is next up on Charlotte de Witte's unstoppable KNTXT label with four blistering and innovative new tracks. Known for his muscular, neck-breaking take on techno, the French producer and DJ drops four riveting, maximised vocal neo-rave cuts here; all manifest sonically in the same vein as those earlier exclusives once said to have fired up the warehouse raves of yore in his native Paris. A testament to the producer's current state of mind, we can only infer what this might be; the tunes are avowedly melodious yet ultra-punchy, and do well to strip the pretensions of purists, goading them into a four-track round of maximally intense fun.

Review: Ajate's third album, Dala Toni, is a vibrant fusion of Afro groove and Japanese traditional Ohayashi music, showcasing the band's innovative approach to blending diverse musical traditions. Founded by Japanese musician Junichiro "John" Imaeda after a revelatory experience in West Africa, Ajate brings together ten passionate musicians to create music that transcends cultural boundaries. Utilizing a mix of traditional instruments like drums, flutes, and bells, as well as handmade bamboo instruments crafted by Imaeda himself, such as the unique 'Jaate' and 'Piechiku,' Ajate's sound is both powerful and distinctive. Their incorporation of Afrobeat rhythms and Japanese vocals adds further depth and richness to their music, reflecting themes of human connection, unity, and the joy of life.Having gained acclaim for their explosive live performances in Japan and beyond, including appearances at prestigious festivals like Sukiyaki Meets The World and WOMAD UK, Ajate's music resonates with audiences worldwide. With Dala Toni, they continue to push the boundaries of global music, solidifying their position as pioneers of the genre "made in Japan."

Review: Maxime dB and Aline Brooklyn's AirFunk label serves up five fresh ones in their usual vein of French pop and electro-influenced dance music. The fourth edition in their V/A series makes for no less than a masterclass in such inherited arts; the A-side comes packed to the brim with airy, upper-echelonic, sophisticated but not-tryhard electro-syntheses, from the introductory chord bursts and catwalk kick-claps of 'Nrj' to the lippy new wave lasers and speak n' spelled interjections of Electrodynamique's 'That Is Right'. The B adds depth to the A's surface tensity, with La Gugga's 'Gogo Danca' and Paul Cut's 'Shoes' lending a fashionista's verve to stringing, saxophonic deep house and bass-driven Oizo-esque flat beats respectively.

He has a raw sound that operates in the gray area between house and techno and is in fine form once more here. 'Don't Play Around' has brilliantly booming and elastic low ends full of bounce and a classic diva vocal to bring the emotion. 'Stockholm Syndrome' then gets its heads down and hurries through funky drums and rattling techno percussion. 'How You Make Me Feel' (Bldg 7 WMD mix) again flips the script with a slower beatdown sound embellished with pixelated synth patterns and a yearning female vocal. 'Locust Army' is maybe the best of the lot - mind-melting techno synth work over quick-stepping drums for maximum club impact.

Review: Following the breakout success of their acclaimed 2000 sophomore effort Maybe I'll Catch Fire, California gothic pop-punk heroes Alkaline Trio began to outgrow their label Asian Man Records, even being instructed to look for a bigger label-base as the increased demand for physical copies and merch became too much for label head Mike Park to handle. This would eventually lead to the band being courted by Vagrant Records in order to distribute their now commercial and career high point From Here To Infirmary in 2001, which would also serve as their only work with drummer Mike Felumlee before being replaced with punk-drummer extraordinaire Atom Willard for touring purposes. Marking the first sonic shift away from the more angst-riddled chaotic emo-punk of their earlier material, and embracing more melodious and direct compositional song structures, for many, From Here To Infirmary is where Alkaline Trio truly discovered their own musical identity.

First up is the 'dyna-mix', which works around bugging b-lines and dubby shimmers for a restrained, subtly psychedelic affair. The 'trip-mix' meanwhile whips up some dusty garage house breaks, snappy 909 claps and hooky stabs to get the heat turned up in the dance good and proper. It's a fine example of the Midas touch Alkan brings to club music even when revisiting former glories.

This furtive operation is almost entirely mediated by retailers like us, and is billed as a purveyor of 'tried and tested sure-shots' in very limited runs, whose coveted lipid discs help bolster "community in secret places". Of course, what would be a sense of community without a sense of exclusivity to match? The crux of the art of the five tracks here, though all largely instrumental, is indeed penetrable; all the numbers here home in on the glisteny downtime moments heard on many a classic disco and funk tune, in which time seems to stop, nerves grow tender, and high strings and ghostly vocals take flight. Keep an eye on this series; it reminds us of a funkier-intoned Ghost Phone; 'Track 4' is the real odd highlight.

His less-known alias Alvarius B has nonetheless seen an extended panhandle of releases at least since 1994, and plays host to a string of 'characters' and sub-pseudonyms. One such 'charakter', as he calls them, is Karaoke, whose forte is covers of noir cinematic rock classics. Here we've got two dark rundowns; on the A, a dark rundown of Ennie Morricone's 'Solo Nostalgia' from the film Comandamenti per un Gangster, and on the B, a version of Indonesia's finest Koes Plus' 'Tiba-Tiba Ku Menangis', whom Bishop had already interpreted as part of the band Koes Barat. Both detail Bishop's talent as a rarely-performed alter-ego, a cosmopolite solo-entertainer.

Turn The Tape EP
Turn The Tape EP (coloured vinyl 12")
Cat: FLXA 190.

Drum & Bass / Jungle
Review: Bristolian bangersmith Amoss shares his latest EP 'Turn The Tape' for Flexout Audio, self-describedly shooting for and squarely executing 'that funky sound'. To our ears, this is translates to knocky, well-polished neuro; the titular A-sider takes its namesake from the sample heard throughout - "it ain't over, I just gotta turn the tape over" - getting at that retro suspense of being bound by limitation. The sound here and throughout is atmospheric and back-alleyed, smoke rising from manholes as a gritty, growling anomaly skulks in the dustbin round the corner ('Stay Hungry', 'Way Better'). Closer 'Front Left' reminisces on a sinister existence spent at the system's larboard, where the sound is said to permeate rooms best; this one brings a brittle rollage, shunning histrionics for a neat two-note middle-fingered trance.

Do It To The Music (2012 club mix Remaster)
Do It To The Music (Fred Falke X Zen Freeman remix)
Review: 'Technopera' is the debut EP by Ampersounds (Fred Falke and Zen Freeman), featuring Rufus Wainwright. It's a bold claim for a debut electro-house EP to feature vocals by such a renowned artist. But Fred Falke nad Zen Freeman are no rookies either, having won the hearts of many a house and techno reveller in France, Europe and beyond since the 1990s. Ampersounds and the Wainwright collab was made manifest after an intellectual chat the trio shared over some highfalutin poetry; fittingly, Technopera has an air of intellectualism about it, with highlights like 'Solitude Of Heart' portraying a downtrodden mood blended with smart production and nods to '80s tropes.

Review: After a brief production delay, this long-awaited and highly in-demand vinyl pressing is finally ready. 'Scott Pilgrim Takes Off' was a huge hit when it released on Netflix last year, and this gatefold includes the amount of care and goodies you would expect - prints, beautiful art on the inner sleeves and two different coloured discs alongside a mini-comic. The California electro-rock output's hallmarks are everpresent, from the tongue-cheek whit of the vinyl-exclusive extended version of 'Techno Syndrome' (a Mortal Kombat theme sample) to the masterful chiptune bangers and rocking guitars. It's well worth picking this up before it inevitably sells out.

Review: Anbau's debut on Bordello with a Giro d'Italia themed EP pays homage to the legendary riders of the race, notably the late Marco Pantani. Coinciding with the 108th edition of La Corsa Rosa, celebrates Pantani's iconic victory at Passo del Mortirolo in 1994. Inspired by disco and nu-disco, the tracks exude energy and rhythm reminiscent of the exhilarating atmosphere of the race. Each copy includes a limited edition sleeve adorned with a rare original Merlin collector's sticker from the 78th Giro in 1995, adding a unique touch to the release. With its blend of disco house and Italo disco, Anbau's EP is a vibrant tribute to the passion and determination of Giro d'Italia's heroic riders.

Review: The Hyperdrive label is back with a third outing which once again offers up some exciting and forward-thinking new artists. Anderson's 'Sweet Psylow' kicks off with some psychedelic synth loops over crisp tech house drums that hark back to the 90s prog heyday. HearThuG's 'Back To The Future' is a darker sound with whistles, snappy snares and eerie chords and Luis Malon & Seb G then combine for the bouncing techno rhythms and acid-laced pads of 'Extasis Nebular.' Last but not least, Jamie Leather's 'Strange Commodities' is a surging cosmic techno trip with dynamic drums and perc and majestic leads. This is another fine release from this young label.

Review: Pressure Traxx secures the sounds of acclaimed minimal master and Romanian mainstay Dan Andrei on this fine new 12", Clockworks. The title track opens up and is coarse and rich in texture, with slapping hits taking centre stage while languid guitars slowly garner your attention. 'Theme For What' is another unusual one, this time with trippy melodies and tumbling drum loops, while 'Geek Groove Odyssey' layers up pulsing bass and bleeping sonar synths into a serene cosmic trip. 'Out Of Mood' is another tense tech cut with edgy synths keeping you in suspense as the dark drums march on.

Review: Expert record collector, skilled DJ, Moodyman collaborator and beatmaker Andres aka DJ Dez is back not long after the release of his last album with a new 7" on David A-P's Hot Pot Records. He opens up this one with 'I Can't Understand It' which has the exact sort of dusty drums and subtle hip-hop stylings to the groove that you would expect of this storied groove specialist. It will get the floor popping off in no time and on the flip, he shows off his skills on the MPC by chopping up 'Loleatta Disco Flip' with plenty of hefty drum work and a sprinkling of percussion that keeps whitings moving. Another irresistible drop from the Detroit mainstay.

Review: Angelyne sophomore LP, Driven to Fantasy is the latest great album to get reissued as part of Dark Entries' 15th-anniversary celebration. Defined by her voluptuous, Barbie-esque allure and hot pink Corvette, Angelyne emerged as an enigmatic figure in 1984 who graced LA billboards with a provocative presence. The mystique and allure around her built to a peak and culminated in this second solo album released in 1986. Featuring eight tracks of bubblegum-hued new wave, Angelyne blends LA punk grit with flashy synth-pop on sassy titles like 'Sex Goddess' and 'Skin Tight.' This cult classic, now pressed on pink Corvette-coloured vinyl, includes a 2-sided poster with lyrics and commemorates the legacy of a true Hollywood legend.

Review: The duo of Angus & Julia Stone share their sixth full-length album, Cape Forestier. A strikingly poignant and textured set of new recordings, the new LP immediately draws listeners into the simple and endearing vision of Angus and Julia Stone's world; this is a cloaked, atmopsheric Aussie folk album that flaunts the couple's talents in utmost equal measure. Cape Forestier is also a self-described exercise in recognising "how humans choose to treat each other, love each other, and make promises to build something beautiful together." By that, they mean marriage: Cape Forestier's ear for sentiment knows few bounds, with stripped-back, bridal-gowned romances like 'The Wedding Song' commanding an adept ear for candid space and finger-plucking nostalgisms.
