Native Instruments Maschine+ Standalone Production & Performance Instrument Native Instruments Maschine+ Standalone Production & Performance Instrument Native Instruments Maschine+ Standalone Production & Performance Instrument Native Instruments Maschine+ Standalone Production & Performance Instrument Native Instruments Maschine+ Standalone Production & Performance Instrument Native Instruments Maschine+ Standalone Production & Performance Instrument
Cat: 789907 Rel: 16 Oct 20

Sampler & drum machine & synthesiser
Notes: Flagship instrument based on NI's excellent Maschine software but presented here in standalone format as an all-in-one groovebox, capable of creating everything from beats to synths and samples.

Supplier's Notes:
MASCHINE+ is a sampler, a drum machine, a synth, and an on-stage superpower. In short, it's whatever you make it. Leave the laptop behind, jam with your other gear, and create beats in minutes with a wealth of on-board sounds, instruments, and effects.

It's the iconic MASCHINE workflow, with fewer strings attached.

Standalone means more focus, more freedom, and more music making. Plug in, power up, and get creating straight away in the embedded MASCHINE+ production environment - from first ideas to finished tracks. Dial in effects to tweak your sounds, or sample audio and make it your own with an intuitive interface designed to keep the creative juices flowing. And if you want to bring your ideas into a DAW, copy them over, and boot up the MASCHINE software on your computer to pick up where you left off.

As well as its classic groovebox workflow, MASCHINE+ includes MASCHINE+ Selection: A dedicated package of nine synths and sampled instruments, 35 effects, and seven Expansions (including two of your own choosing) that work seamlessly in standalone mode. It includes heavy-hitters like MASSIVE, FM8, MONARK, PRISM, the MASCHINE Factory Selection, RAUM, and PHASIS. That means its 16 pads can sound like a dusty vintage drumkit, a warped wavetable lead, or an organic modal synth - pretty much anything you can think of if you flex your sound design skills.

Whether you're digging records or ripping radio edits, record any sound into MASCHINE+ and quickly chop and stretch the results into your own custom kits. Or transform and twist them in real-time with the Audio plug-in. The same goes for guitars, vocals, drums, and anything else - more sounds means more creative ways to make music.

Bring real expression to live performances with intuitive control over your music - tap out beats, run arpeggiators, or tweak synth melodies in real time. MASCHINE+ is an intuitive live sequencer, a fully-fledged groovebox, and a powerful performance synthesizer rolled into one.

Clips let you arrange your ideas with even more freedom. Create transitions across scenes, add unique variation to patterns, record MIDI directly into the full arrangement, and freely add audio wherever you need it. Once you've fleshed out your ideas, you can use MASCHINE+ as a powerful tool to push tracks past the finish line.

Play and sequence outboard gear and capture the results, or manipulate external audio in real time with effects. MASCHINE+ can control, mix, and manipulate the rest of your setup with MIDI, line, and mic inputs to bring everything together instantly. And if you want to work with a computer, it doubles up as a classic MASCHINE controller too.

MASCHINE+ is Wi-Fi enabled, which means you can install new sounds, instruments, and effects at the touch of a button, without a computer in sight. When it comes to jamming with others or playing out live, keep in sync with other music apps, DAWs, and compatible gear with Ableton Link.

Need more sounds? Expansions are great for giving MASCHINE+ some sonic love, with presets for its synths, one-shot samples, loops, and kits.

Moog DFAM Semi-Modular Analogue Percussion Synthesiser
Cat: 675126 Rel: 09 Mar 18

Drummer From Another Mother: semi-modular analogue drum machine
Notes: DFAM is the first addition to the Mother-32 family of synthesizers and presents an expressive hands-on approach to percussive pattern creation. It requires no patching, and absolutely no experience is needed for human-beings of any age to quickly begin synthesizing new and unique rhythmic compositions.

Activated by an easy-to-use analogue sequencer, DFAM's emotive sound begins with a white noise generator and two wide-range analogue oscillators - effortlessly transitioning between rhythmic pulsations, resounding bass and resonant bells in an instant. DFAM's distinctive voice is then shaped by a classic Moog Ladder filter with two selectable modes: Low Pass mode imparts impact and dimension to each sound it touches, while High Pass mode opens the door to naturally expressive strikes, spikes and clangorous accentuations.

DFAM behaves much like a living organism, reacting in different ways to different individuals. 3 dedicated analogue envelopes work dynamically with the sequencer to ensure that tribal toms breathe, industrial impacts evolve, and cacophonous chaos can be spawned or subdued at the turn of a knob. Each DFAM ships with a package of Moog patch cables that unlock access to the 24-point modular patchbay. Use it to create new sounds or bizarre behaviours, synchronize an unlimited number of DFAM and Mother-32 units together, or fully integrate your analogue instrument into a modular Eurorack production environment.

Through exploration and experimentation, the vast potential of this expressive analogue instrument is realised.

MFB Tanzbar 2 Analogue Drum Computer & Bass Synthesiser MFB Tanzbar 2 Analogue Drum Computer & Bass Synthesiser
Cat: 689673 Rel: 07 Mar 19

Hybrid analogue & sample based drum machine
Notes: Analogue-focused drum machine and synth from a consistently innovative German brand. Great sound and extensive programming capabilities for studio and stage.

Supplier's notes:
The Tanzbar 2 is a further development of the successful Tanzbar with a slightly different concept. Here, in addition to the LCD display, emphasis was placed on a hybrid structure, which allows the sounds to be selected more versatile, and the bass voice has also been upgraded to a fully-fledged synthesizer.

The drum machine features 7 analogue percussion instruments, an analogue bass synthesizer, 3 digital sample voices with analogue multifilters and 10 sample instruments, of which 2 instruments share a sample voice. The samples can be exchanged via a free tool offered on our website and allow everyone to have their own personal drum sound. The sample memory contains around 300 seconds for 208 samples.

Also noteworthy is that each instrument has its own LFO (replaces the "Bend function in the predecessor Tanzbar) and thus does not stand in the way of diverse modulations. The sequencer has chase programming and can store 100 patterns. The patterns can be chained via "CHAIN" and have up to 64 steps (A / B / C / D). Furthermore, 16 different Flames can be programmed, multiple triggers are a breeze. The plumb line can be adjusted individually for each instrument, making it easy to realize polymetric grooves. 32th, 16th or 16th / 8th triplet is adjustable as a metric.

There are 4 different Accente available by instrument. The sound parameters can be recorded by step recording. Two tracks appeal to external Midi instruments, practically, no external sequencer needed! The shuffle can be individually or globally regulated in strength. Step programming also sends Midi Out and of course can control other sound sources.

The drum computer can be synchronized via USB or MIDI via Midi Clock. In addition to a master volume, each instrument has its own volume slider (except for four sample voices where this is controlled via the endless dial) and the mute button mutes the individual instruments. There are 12 single outputs (mini jack) and a stereo output (large stereo jack) available.

Landscape Noon 8-Channel Analogue Drum Synthesiser (blue)
Landscape Noon 8-Channel Analogue Drum Synthesiser (blue) (8-channel analogue drum synthesiser)
Cat: 860834 Rel: 21 Oct 22

8-channel analogue drum synthesiser
Notes: NOON is a passive analogue drum/synthesizer. Each of the eight channels uses a unique analogue circuit with its own characteristics. No power supply is needed. Each circuit is triggered and powered individually from incoming gates or control voltages provided by voltage sequencers or modular systems. By using this unique method, we can increase instability and magnify organic aspects of traditional analogue electronic instruments. The sound of analogue, at its core, is the sound of sculpted electricity. By removing the stabilizing elements of a constant power source, we can listen to the sound of electronic circuits loading and unloading, powering up and powering down, and we can increase the natural chaotic movement of electricity. The loading of circuits creates natural ways to access swing and groove or ways to deconstruct a programmed rhythm sequence to make surprisingly new ideas.
Each channel is represented by a tuning fork. Incoming voltage can be thought of as a way to "strike" each fork with momentary voltage. Between every channel there are Link buttons which allow voltage sharing between channels. Linking them provides a wide mix of results depending on incoming voltage, active or inactive channels, slider settings, gate lengths and multichannel linking. The results can be described as cross modulation, growth (creating a larger and more complex circuit), or processing (filtering, distortion). Due to the cycles of voltage and this inherent instability, a definition of what is actually occurring between channels can be hard to pin down. The eight Mod buttons, which are located at the bottom of each tuning fork, change the behaviour and sound of each circuit. The eight latching CV buttons along the top allow the "?" Even and "?" Odd CV modulation inputs to route to even and odd channels. When incoming CV is unmuted, a channel's behaviour can change drastically and this behaviour can change further when channels are linked. These CV inputs are a way to add microtonal pitch changes and/or large textural movement to voices. The Even and Odd CV inputs are summed to their respective channels to provide a rhythmic modulation reference between multiple channels.

Limitations & Recommendations

A voltage sequencer, modular system or some form of external control voltage is required for use. This is a powerless instrument which relies upon receiving voltage and control from external sources.
Using sequencers which have the ability to vary gate length is highly encouraged due to the increase in sound possibilities and rhythmic movement.
Each model of voltage sequencer can have slightly different effects on the tonality of the instrument due to variations between manufacturers and feature sets.
Given the passive design of the device the reaction of the touch plates will vary greatly based upon what voltages are being received in which channel, if channels in are being touched in tandem, skin moisture and gate lengths. Using only trig signals can significantly lessen the touch plate response.
Channels 7 & 8 (Larynx & Bacid) will give best results being fed gate and cv voltage simultaneously. Sending trigs instead of gates to these channels may have less interesting results than found in other channels.

Twisted Electrons BlastBeats Groovebox
Twisted Electrons BlastBeats Groovebox (drum machine/synthesiser)
Cat: 858514 Rel: 01 Jun 22

Drum machine/synthesiser with a vintage FM chip
Notes: A uniquely characterful drum machine, based on FM synthesis inspired by early 90s PC soundcards. Six drum voices and four synth parts can be controlled by a built-in step sequencer or MIDI.

Supplier's Notes:
At the heart of BlastBeats is a vintage FM chip called YMF-262 also known as the OPL3 chip & previously found in computer sound cards of the early 90s.

These chips were notoriously hard to program and were rarely used to their full potential. However, they can produce surprisingly rich beautiful and utterly dirty sounds with a bit of exploring...

By putting so many parameters within easy reach BlastBeasts makes it fun and easy to master the signature sound of the DOS era!

Rhythm & Synth

BlastBeats is a 10 voice groove box offering 6 drum voices and 4 synth instruments.

The many faders offer full control over the parameters of the instruments and can be automated and modulated per step

Beats and melodies are a pleasure to program thanks to the high quality illuminated buttons

Flagship instrument based on NI's excellent Maschine software but presented here in standalone format as an all-in-one groovebox, capable of creating everything from beats to synths and samples.

Vermona DRM1 MKIV Analogue Drum Synthesiser
Cat: 812233 Rel: 26 Apr 21

Analogue drum synthesiser
Notes: Latest update to a modern classic drum machine. Pure analogue sound and rock solid build. Externally untouched but now with revamped internal circuits and USB MIDI. Also available with new, improved trigger inputs.

Supplier's Notes:
Introducing the brand new update to the classic drum and percussion synthesizer VERMONA DRM1. The DRM1 is a key part in Vermona's history. Its first generation, released in the 90s as Syncussion DRM1, caught wide attention. The MKII-version then continued and broadened the success and breathed new life into the VERMONA brand at the turn of the millennium. With the DRM1 MKIII, that Vermona have been building since 2006, it has now been a total of 25 years of DRM1! This makes it one of the longest-lived electronic musical instruments. And launching the next quarter-century is this analog drum synthesizer from VERMONA.

DRM1 MKIV: Familiar, yet evolved

At first glance, you may not notice any difference from its predecessor. Indeed, from the outside, there isn't any! The overall concept and user interface have remained the same: There are eight instrument channels, each with nine knobs for sound shaping, pan and volume control. The DRM1 is a musical instrument, a creative tool that wants to be touched and played.

Instead of trying to reinvent or change an already well-proven external design, with this update to version MKIV Vermon decided to focus on the inside. Time was taken to thoroughly listen into the circuits and put energy and care into its details: Thoughtfully tweaking frequency ranges, revamping control curves, adjusting levels and redesigning sub-circuits. The goal was to make the DRM1 MKIV the best drum synthesizer Vermona have ever built!

DRM1 MKIV: Sociable and dynamic

To make integration into your studio more comfortable, the DRM1 MKIV was equipped with USB-MIDI in addition to the standard MIDI connections.

The optional trigger inputs have been significantly upgraded. Beyond gate pulses, they now also accept different voltage levels for triggering the instrument channels dynamically. The DRM1 MKIV with trigger inputs can also convert the analog signals into MIDI notes via USB or the newly added MIDI OUT connector making it an incredibly versatile MIDI interface.

Whether you're controlling the DRM1 MKIV via a DAW, a hardware sequencer, or a modular system, you'll have the proper connection and further the ability to send the MIDI notes to additional devices.

DRM1 MKIV: More power under the hood

The power supply of the DRM1 MKIV is completely new. It now works anywhere in the world, without having to manually change the mains voltage. This is a huge relief for all of you who use the instrument at live shows. No less important: it works more energy-efficient than the old one!

Music production centre with 7" full-colour multi-touch display & 16GB of on-board storage
Notes: Portable Powerhouse:
Versatility is crucial for all producers. Being able to easily pivot from creator to performer means more people have the opportunity to see and hear your music. The new MPC Live makes the process of performing your studio inventions on stage incredibly seamless by combining the power of a production centre-piece with the portability and rugged design of an on-stage workhorse.

At the heart of the new MPC Live is a beautiful, full colour 7" multi-touch screen, four touch-capacitive Q-Link controls, a clickable master encoder knob and 16 amazingly responsive, velocity and pressure-sensitive RGB pads.

Weighing in at less than 6 pounds, the MPC Live ushers in a new era of ultra-portable production. Powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and packing 16 gigs of on-board storage, the MPC Live features numerous ways to take your beloved sample library and MPC sessions anywhere. Files can be accessed and transferred to the built on-board storage via the built-in SD card slot and/or two-port USB hub. If that's not enough storage, the MPC Live also features a 2.5" SATA drive connector providing additional storage via installation of a fixed hard drive - SSD or HDD (sold separately). The same USB hub can also be used for MIDI controller connectivity.

Standalone? Check. Battery powered? Check. Contains massive amounts of internal storage? Check. Your creative flow now knows no borders and bounds.

To Plug or Not to Plug:
Powering Live is MPC 2.0, Akai Professional's new update to the MPC software. Capable of running natively on the MPC Live in standalone mode, MPC 2.0 can also be run from a Mac or PC with the Live tethered to a computer. A number of major workflow enhancements have been added to 2.0, including: audio track recording, an improved time warp algorithm, refined Q-Link control, audio and MIDI drag and drop - all appearing on a new graphical interface. Future versions will support Ableton Link.

Infinite Sounds, Unlimited Inspiration:
The MPC has a well-earned reputation for sounds that hit hard and sound great, right out of the box. MPC Live is no exception. Pre-installed with 10 gigs of world-class sounds, The Vault 2.0 features samples and kits from top-notch sound design companies including Capsun Audio, MVP Loops, CR2 Records, as well as our own radio-ready kits. Want to incorporate your own samples without tethering to a computer? MPC Live features a 2.5" SATA drive connector providing more storage via external hard drive - SSD or HDD. Additionally, sounds can be accessed and added to the library using the built-in SD Card slot or the USB thumb drive.

"The MPC Live is an absolute beast. It truly represents a huge step forward in the product category," said Dan Gill, Product Manager for Akai Professional. "MPC Live is the most powerful MPC we've made to date and yet it's portable enough to take anywhere."

Flagship instrument based on NI's excellent Maschine software but presented here in standalone format as an all-in-one groovebox, capable of creating everything from beats to synths and samples.

WHO? Noon

WHAT? An 8 channel powerless instrument which is activated and modulated using voltage from external sequencers.

HOW? Analog circuits are powered momentarily by incoming gate and control voltage signals causing them to oscillate and breath naturally. When these circuits are linked together they can grow, inform and process one another in complex rhythmic ways.

WHY? This technique increases the unstable properties of analogue circuits, causing increased organic textures and movement. The simple controls are provided to ensure immediacy and access to rapidly alter sounds and movement without patching.

WHERE? The simplicity of the interface was designed with live performance in mind. The number of internal and external variables (control voltage types, linked channel behaviour plus external audio input) create lots of room for studio exploration.

WHEN? Pre-orders are expected to be open by the end of January 2022.

IN-DEPTH

NOON is a passive analogue drum/synthesizer.

Cat: 919921 Rel: 04 Apr 23

A full size, exact replica of the Pearl SY-1 Syncussion.
Notes: The Michigan Synth Works SY-1 Drum synth is a full size, exact replica of the Pearl SY-1 Syncussion. Every detail has been replicated from the original board layouts to the mechanical construction. The assembled version has been modernized to use current manufacturing processes while still using the original board layouts and all parts have been carefully chosen to match the behaviour of the original. Case, boards, and I/O Boards are all interchangeable with the original Pearl device

The Syncussion:

The Syncussion is a 2 voice drum synthesizer with two oscillators per voice and six different modes. Five modes mix and modulate the oscillators plus a noise channel. Each voice has controls for TUNE, DECAY, SWEEP amount, SWEEP Speed, Sweep up/off/down, LFO amount, and LFO speed, LFO Shape (Tri or Square), and sample and hold

OSC Modes:

A: One oscillator sound, at this position the regular drum synthesizer sweep can be effected.

B. Sound of one oscillator adjusting the other osciIIator frequency; produces a metallic sound.

C. Sound of a mix of two oscillator outputs; sound is similar to that of a vibraphone.

D. Sound of mix of two oscillator outputs; produces a low to high sweep and is done by hitting pad softly or hard; there is no connection to SWEEP SPEED and SWEEP RANGE

E. Sound of one oscillator adjusting the other oscillator frequency with a mix of noise; produces a sound similar to hitting thin metal.

F. Sound of only noise

Triggering:

The SY-1 is designed to be triggered via drum triggers which output a very low pulse signal. Modern 5V trigger signals (v-trig) can be used, how it i recommended experimenting with simple audio samples or more dynamic triggers. One of the more interesting features of the Syncussion is the dynamic response to the drum triggers and just sending a straight pulse which maxes out the trigger inputs does not do the device justice.

Tuning:

The original SY-1 uses a tune pedal to adjust the pitch of both oscillators while playing. This functionality has been retained in the original configuration but is of limited use without the pedal. The expanded version DOES have per voice CV control (1v/Oct) as well as the MIDI.
The Michigan Synth Works SY-1 is available in 3 different versions:

1. Original I/O Configuration: The inputs and outputs use regular 1/4" Mono phone plugs:

Trig 1 In - Trig 2 In - Mute - Tune (via Tune pedal) - Mixed Output

The SY-1 ships with a metal base panel but the DIY wood case can be used instead. It is provided UNFINISHED and sold separately.

What's included:
SY-1 Synthesizer
Universal Power adapter (100-240V, 12V DC out, Tip Positive)

Twisted Electrons BlastBeats Groovebox (B-STOCK)
Cat: 975228 Rel: 01 Jan 90

B-STOCK: Box damaged, product in perfect working order
Notes: ***B-STOCK: Box damaged, product in perfect working order***

A uniquely characterful drum machine, based on FM synthesis inspired by early 90s PC soundcards.

Dimensions: 29.5cm x 16.5cm x 4.5cm (11.6" x 6.5" x 1.8")

Vermona DRM1 MKIV Analogue Drum Synthesiser With Trigger
Cat: 812236 Rel: 12 Apr 21

Analogue drum synthesiser
Notes: Latest update to a modern classic drum machine. Pure analogue sound and rock solid build. Externally untouched but now with revamped internal circuits, USB MIDI and dynamic trigger inputs.

The trigger inputs have been significantly upgraded.

Michigan Synth Works SY-1 Analogue Drum Synthesiser With MIDI Equipped I/O Configuration Michigan Synth Works SY-1 Analogue Drum Synthesiser With MIDI Equipped I/O Configuration Michigan Synth Works SY-1 Analogue Drum Synthesiser With MIDI Equipped I/O Configuration
Cat: 919935 Rel: 04 Apr 23

MIDI equipped I/O Configuration: This is the same as the expanded i/o configuration but adds MIDI in place of the MOD input. The MIDI responds to velocity to gate level and pitch for each channel. 2 TRS-TS and TRS MIDI cables are included

Trig 1,2 In - MIDI In - Mute - Tune 1,2 CV in - Output 1, 2

The SY-1 ships with a metal base panel but the DIY wood case can be used instead. It is provided UNFINISHED and sold separately.

What's included:
SY-1 Synthesizer
Universal Power adapter (100-240V, 12V DC out, Tip Positive)
MIDI I/O: 2x 1.5m TRS 1/4" Phone to 2x TS 1/4" Phone, 1x 1.5M 3.5mm TRS to MIDI, 1x TRS 3.5mm to 1/4" TRS Adapter
