Review: Senida, Strobelight's second release, is a reprisal by the well seasoned and acclaimed producer Ruxpin under the alias Den Nard Husher and is his first ep under the alias since his 1999 2x12 "Nard's Groove" on Thule. The diverse selections of this ep are thunderous yet warm and emotive and illustrate the styles on the NY based label Strobelight Network.
Review: A new label and a new artist throwing their hat into the techno ring with a sideways reference to A Certain Ratio. Do The Du clearly mean business, and waste no time in laying down the law with the rowdy snarl of "Verses", a punky slice of lo-fi techno from the gutter. "Senses" is a more tightly wound, looped up affair for the most nerve-jangled of dancer, while "Sauro" makes mincemeat of the house music blueprint with a wonderfully distorted twist on the genre. "Aicee" gets the whole B-side to trance out on a submerged, throbbing 303 burner and subtle drum jack that harks right back to the early days of Phuture.
Review: After a bit of a hiatus, Roots Unit return with some deep house hybrids from their bulging vaults. "Learn To Love" is a melodic dub-house / techno infused big sound system warmer that comes from a studio session with former 2 Lone Swordsman Keith Tenniswood and will be familiar to those who tune into Tim Sweeney's Beats In Space show on the regular. "Morning Sequence" is a lovely early morning hypnotic slinky electronic house jam that gets under your skin and into your mind. This latter track is mutated into a heavy floor filler by Mark E in full on peak time mode.
Review: Following the royal success that was Maximum Joy, Alfresco is back with another release.
2015 marks ten years of Alfresco Disco parties. The label is still only young, however - but the crew bring their party planning, djing and producing experience into the label.

Thermal Bear brings in a straight up classic deep house beat with 'Round and Round'. Outrageously warm chunky production and one to keep the crowd moving in the wee hours.
Kemback's effort shuffles effortlessly into the mind, taking you on a dreamy trip to somewhere wonderful. A strong nod to Floating Points here with it's heavy swing, gritty drums, and Kemback makes subtle but powerful use of his fine musicianship.
James Fox brings the good time disco-house vibe with the sample-heavy 'Feeling Free'. The wonderful arrangement and vocal make this a pure summer record that's been getting great crowd reactions.
Our Cornish Connection and newcomer Kieran Holden slows it down and makes it nice and trippy with the magnificent 'Wild Palms'. We love this dark, acid tinged sound which adds a different dimension to the ep and shows why Kieran has already been getting props from the likes of Tici Taci and the LFOS crew.

Fairplay's label Centurians Of Rome is back with its first vinyl release, after Timothy's 2013/14's cassette only mini albums 'Good For Driving In The Night' & 'The Promise Of Midi'. COR003 signals the return of the mysterious & enigmatic Antoine Rouge. After the release of the 'Spook Juke' EP on Timothy J. Fairplay & Scott Frasers Crimes Of The Future label Antoine disappeared, reports of his death in the French media last year remained unconfirmed and then in February this year he walked into Timothy's studio saying he'd spent the last year focusing on playing 'Hero Quest'. 'Eye of The Star Warrior' follows on stylistically from his debut EP. Produced entirely on junkshop preset keyboards, as after what happened before these are the only synths Timothy will let Antoine borrow. Four Trax of transcendental phase distortion Wavehouse from the self proclaimed Star Warrior.
Review: We were very excited indeed to see the third release from the quite promising Love Notes from Brooklyn imprint! Marco Zenin was a featured artist on the last release under his DJ Octopus guise, and this time he's featured again with his other project, the more techy/ more minimal Die Roh, who recently had an underground athem with their release on Black Venison. The duo here seemingly lean their sounds in the direction of the label's and offer two-cut EP which is their deepest effort yet to date. Surely more DJs will play the dancier A side, Behind 6000, but for us, the groovier B side and title track Genghis Kahn is the choice cut. Label owner, Nathaniel Jay, continues in the precendent he's set with each release having its own unique "Love Note", authored by him, making every one of these records collectable.
Review: Finale Sessions is really pleased to launch new series Finale Sessions Limited with Berlin up and coming act Arcarsenal. Duo comprised of Alan Mathias and Etienne Dauta, both founders of Bass Cadet Records and its dedicated vinyl store located in the heart of the german capital, they are also active members of the large Underground Quality family. Arcarsenal have already started to establish themselves as proponent of a crossover sound, mixing many influences from jazz, house, ambient to dub and techno. They are always giving a prominence to jam, improvisation and textures work in their studio routine. This EP called « Dark Skies & Wetlands », even if slightly grittier than usual, is no stranger to the rules of the duo. The opening track « Different Planet » is an epic dark deep house cut which develops itself over a course of 8:40. Starting with a stamping ground bassline and hazy atmosphere, the track opens up with synth attacks, dub echoes and slowly brings in a blissful melody that ends up linking all the elements. « Substance Of Arjuna », the following track on the A-side, is a-contrario a short but intense ambient work. Shot in one take, this subtle cut showcases the kind experimentations that Mathias and Dauta can end up doing late at night in front of their machines. The b-side of the EP leaves all the space to « Racoons », one of the weirdest and yet most powerful work of the duo to date. Tribal techno could be a short try to define what they achieved here, but the track goes far more than this. Built on a gritty mental acidic bass and a huge drum kick, the frenchmen bring over aggressive synth work that could sound like an orchestra on rehearsal, pachydermic screams or an overdriven guitar larsen. Underlined by a complex percussion pattern recorded live in their nest and chopped up to the best effect, the track ends up in a looping transe from which the listener might not leave in a normal state.
Review: The Bush is a homage to the place where I have lived for the last decade (Askew Road). The Askew Road itself is slowly changing so I wanted to document all the places that play a big part in mine and my families lives before they eventually get sold for more flats or Tescos. First up was Peckings Studio 1 record shop, which has been on this stretch of road since the 1960s. Next up is the mighty Sun pub which became a local talking point when they sold the place because a sign sat in the window that announced "THIS BUP IS CLOSE".
Review: The revival of Symbolism continues with J.C. & Kastil. J.C. aka Jose Cabera is otherwise known as Spanish house producer Kasper as well as cropping up on Fred P's Boards imprint as J.C. in 2014 while Kastil is widely recognised for his output and stewardship of Soul Notes.

Review: "HYDRAFUNK is an exciting Detroit Techno inspired collaboration between Immigrant Records owner and label manager Robin Porter and US analogue synth guru Mike Carr. The duo first collaborated back in 2002 releasing the 'Mental Stealth EP' on Immigrant, featuring the bassline and synth heavy 'Fathernature', a track that found it's way on 'Evil' Eddie Richard's Fabric 16 mix CD. Their debut three track EP, Beasts From Below, fuses the analogue aptitude of Mike Carr and Robin Porter's attention to sound frequency, arrangement detail and understanding of the dance floor, delivering an intoxicating peak time package of delight. "Underworld" is a deep journey of melodic synth work and chugging groove that travels into dark territories, complimented by uplifting percussion that builds into a peak time beast from the deep. On the flip, "Immortal Melody" delves even further into moody territory delivering a tantalising array of dreamy synths and jackin' old school percussion, that submerges into an abyss of texture before rising up into a dance floor banger. Closer "Hydra's Dance" is definitely not a token bonus track and is the most dance floor friendly cut; featuring Robin's knack for creating powerful basslines, unique vocals and Mike's ability to create depth and texture with his analogue synth programming."
Review: Well formed, Brighton based, deep house label Black Key Records again comes up trumps with a tasty new EP from Germany's accomplished and well travelled Pawas.
DJ and producer Pawas Gupta has amassed a cultured discography since 2007. Releasing his moody house vibes on labels like Fear of Flying, Night Drive Music and Back Key Limited, he has put out a steady stream of excellent 12"s and LPs and never fails to cook up original sounds.
Absorbing and atmospheric opener 'Slow Roll' is a cavernous chamber of warming sound with soft rubber drums making for a lazy groove. Icy pads and soulful chords drift and flap about above as distant stabs help propel you along this underwater landscape. Building to a subtle peak that makes your whole body move, it is a fine opener that is rich and detailed.
The expertly layered 'Filtechno' is a fathom deep track that is as dubby, flabby and horizontal as you could imagine. Celestial pads circle like spirits in the night and gloopy bass brings a fortress sense of depth to this most serene bit of sonic landscaping. Many floors are sure to be in a state of brain soothing joy when they get lost in this one.
Lastly, Pawas shows another side again with 'Aired,' a more melodic and jazzy number featuring cute little piano motifs, tooting bass and hip swinging, super wet claps. It is perfectly atmospheric and nicely coloured, and rounds out a classy EP of contemporary house sounds from one of the best labels in the business.
Review: For Finitude Music's 5th release, label owner Marcel Heese and Alexander Kowalski aka d_func. share their visions on ""Thought Control"".
Both tracks on the EP harbour the same intent, but each of them approaches it in a different way. d_func.'s take revolves around Sahko-like bleeps - if you are into early Mika Vainio or Sleeparchive - look no further! But instead of being loopy, it's definitely a builder. Its original trance track-like structure is sure to rock many an underground dancefloor.
Marcel's vision is slower and less straight-forward but creates and maintains a high tension. Based on dense a bassline and intricate soundscapes, it builds up slowly, only to explode halfway through. An extra payoff also comes at the very end of a track - its noise/ambient outro making a perfect way to wrap up an amazing party at 8AM somewhere deep in the heart of Berlin.

Review: Argy's These Days label is an occasional treat in the world of stripped down tech house, and it makes its first appearance for 2016 with a selection of club-ready remixes from the label boss, tackling various productions from German techno mainstay Paul Brtschitsch. The "Floor Adaptation" of "Green" heads into subterranean pastures, albeit with a powerful beat propelling it, and "Eternal Aspects" maintains that underground mood with a warmer synth repertoire. On the more flamboyant B-side, "Squeezed" takes on a wild old-skool quality perfect for more fiery moments on the floor before "Subbass" continues the jacking theme in fine style.
Review: Valcrond Video presents the next work by sound and image artist Luke Wyatt, Songs From Bad Kid School.
On a high desert plain, inside a cinder block compound, a prank squad is incarcerated. Between fiddling with ninja stars and leafing through back issues of Fangoria, they find time to scrape out the soundtrack of their escape.
On the first track, heatsick guitars and steel wool beats suggest a landscape strewn with abandoned car carcasses, old Camaros left for dead in the sun, used for shotgun practice.
The B-side leads off with the beat-less, articulated sprawl of "Saline Flats". Here is the story of a desert search for water: figures warping mirage-like on the horizon as they make a confused journey over dunes, ending with a cathartic drone that suggests the mirages resolving into a real oasis. Though it is just as likely that the bad kids have expired from thirst, and ascended to the sublime.
Review: U2XProductions of Detroit presents "Descendant" - by Niko Marks. Phenomenal music containing all the elements of a great dance record with a remix of "This One", originally recorded and written by Herschel Boone (background singer for Kid Rock) and Lavelle More. This amazing EP also features "Spacebabies Mixture One" - first released on "Through Time and Culture" (LP) and "Saturday" which debuted on the "Disclosure" (LP) by Niko Marks.

Review: Illusion Limited is the limited press sister label to Illusion Recordings. The label will shine light on new artists and sounds not currently represented on Illusion. The first release kicks off with the highly talented Manchester based Artist Seelie who delivers two slices of subtle, classy deep house. This EP has been a while in the making and shows a real development in Seelie's sound from classic house to deep textured and hypnotic house. BLM provides a huge remix on the A side stripping things back and letting the analogue bline and minimaistic drums create a heady, yet dancefloor track. Dilated Pupils provide a unqiue broken beat remix of the hypnotic 'Desire' on the B-side to round things off and kick off this label in style.
Review: Scott Fraser and Timothy J Fairplay's Crimes Of The Future label has had quite the banner year, ushering in various projects from the pair as well as seeking out like-minded contemporaries such as Perseus Traxx. The latest Crimes of the Future release introduces Bulb, another project bearing the label founder's finger prints along with a high profile third colluder in one William Burnett. Apparently laid down at WT Records HQ in the spring of 2014 whilst Fairplay and Fraser were committing Crimes in NYC, Bulb is a bold offering from the trio with two extended dancefloor workouts taking a side each. "Light It Up" pairs ghetto techno breaks with something from wayward Kosmiche studio experiments in deepest Germany, whilst "Dimmer Switch" plunges into a world of psychedelia and cavernous cave dwellings thanks to some dark ambient synthesis and stabbing drums.
Review: SORN002 welcomes another experimental beat maker tot he fold. Asan is likely from another planet. His take on techno is like no other. Expect wild drum patterns, freaky synths and alien grooves. Synth Lord Steve Moore strips things back in a way only he can and creates an arpeggiated synth journey which you'd never tire of, even if it was 45 minutes long!
Review: Haunted Doorbell are Timothy J. Fairplay and Matilda Tristram who released 'Xylophone' together last year on Astro Lab Recordings. Picking up where Xylophone left off 'Unconnected thoughts on jacking' is four tracks of naive melodies, rough slamjack drums, and new age atmospheres. 'Starclash' kicks off side A, with its dramatic arpeggios and SID chip crashes, Techno to soundtrack the Saturday night laser show at the planetarium. Following is 'A night of adventure' with its eastern scales and washy broken chorus unit hiss. On side B we have 'Beautiful Sheffield' - an ode to electronic music's (possibly) most important British city and the title track rounds of the EP - house music for listening to while looking out to sea.
Review: For the debut of New York's anticipated Purple Trax label, a new formation of key players in Brooklyn's underground debuts with an EP sure to entrance fans of L.I.E.S., White Material, and other established NYC labels. Composed of Terekke, local DJ/producer Jan Woo, and Erez Avissar, label head and founder of the respected Weird Magic parties, Wabi Sabi's dusky and diverse sound comes from its origin in loft jams, but tracks like the closing 'Rx' with its powerful dub techno framework show the work of seasoned talents. Patricia's cameo on 'Casper' is the record's strangest sound, a propulsive house groove with explosions of crackling texture and a bassline deeply buried in fog, while 'Babi' stutters along between the drum pulse and its disappearances into deep wells of delayed vocal samples and gentle melodies. Vibes are saved for the opener 'Moon River Membrane', where Terreke's characteristic cosmic haze comes out more heavily, complemented by the genre-bending psychedelic tendencies of Avissar's programming and Woo's weighty low-end.
Review: For 07 Ruff Draft enlists Twins who turns in a dark, dystopian, club sound scape that hits all the right spots. Hayworth is another alias of a well known producer to us Ruff Drafters, here he creates a track with an intro that teases and teases you before the beat drops and things get all sweaty. Cottam digs out some acid from the hard drive, an old forgotten about track that finally gets a release.
Review: After launching into Memory Box with aplomb on the deadly Acid Stomp 12", Robin Ball steps up on the London-based imprint once again with the saucy tones of his latest four track EP. "Drop It Down Low" and its accompanying dub mix are classy twists on the tech house formula that lean towards old-skool methods while keeping the sleaze factor ramped up high. "Remember" takes a more tripped out tribal approach, with the "Vibes mix" providing a more subtle twist to the warm, melodic undulations of the full fat version. It's an EP loaded with personality and flair for sophisticated dancefloors.

Review: For our second vinyl release of the summer, we see SLF and JAG (a.k.a Stephane Lefrancois and Jameson Gilvarry) team up with Lexy Panterra on "No Regrets".
The original mix is a beautiful, balearic, uplifting jewel. Lexy's pristine and evocative vocals ride over a bouncy, smooth backing track with plenty of dynamics and musical ear candy. This is a new school take on the classic love song, perfect for sunrises and sunsets. A dance floor filler with soul !
Simon Baker is on remixing duties, as BKR Projekt. He gives the song a complete techno twist, with a relentless, hypnotic groove. The distorted drums give it a driving, warehouse vibe, while the loopy layers of dubbed out vocals creep in, ghostly and haunting. This one is for the big rooms !

Review: The Manuscript mission rolls on unabated as the Ukranian label pairs long lost deep house gems with more contemporary productions. Slam Mode's "Morning Side Dr" is a gorgeous cut laden with plush synth tones to melt the hardest of dancers, while Dennis DeSantis' "Leisure" feeds touches of EBM into a mellow, dubby construction that spans styles with ease. Label boss Vincent Inc joins up with Jon Da Silva for "Thinkin About U", which Questionmarq turns into a delightfully quirky remix before Sasha Makin and Suntetic round the EP off with the epic "Drumatik".
Review: The promise of Cooly G's releases for Hyperdub et al turns into maddening anticipation as the first taste of her forthcoming album sneaks out months ahead of the game! First up it's "Landscapes", co-produced with Simbad, and utterly devastating in its use of simple elements for maximum effect. A broken beat ticks steadily away under glossy, undulating streams of pads while Cooly herself enchants with her Neneh Cherry style vocal delivery. "It's Serious" on the flipside sees Cooly linking up with certified house legend Karizma for a more chunky, beat-driven offering that will slay floors in the same way that Altered Natives' "Rass Out" did some years back.
Review: The second of the UNTLD Protagonist Series, by Furz, savours the spirit of Alfred Tailor, an influential figure in the development of the bright young artist, whose first EP is strong and smooth, with raw energy, sultry and primal. The title track is remixed by Laurine Frost, who inspired by the South American hypnosis of the artist, takes it further, developing the dialogue and deepening the percussive structure, whilst maintaining the mystique and spirit of Alfred Tailor. The second original work on the record, entitled 'Torino Soul' is an ode to the automobile of Alfred Tailor, it opens serenely as if racing through the valleys of Cordoba's horizon, scenery rushing by on a hot day. Amidst this, the mechanical metal of the engine revolves in it place, as we are rushed forward, and the voice heard a memory both of the machine and the man, Alfred Tailor.
Review: A slice of cyclopean, baltic Techno served by Grad U, well known for his Greyscale/Redscale project and releasing on labels like Knowone, Neurotron or Echocord. He delivers an obscure trip through the 7th Chapter of the story, Warfare, the decisive battle between clones and humans for the reign of planet earth...no one is safe. This is a vinyl-only release and limited.
Review: 6 E.P.II" is the second Vinyl E.P. taken from Headman/ Robi Insinna "6" Album which was released via Relish on the 15th September. E.P.II includes on side A1 Number 9, A2 Swing Now Out Dubfeaturing TarafromIt Rough fame. First track on the B side is called Somethingwith vocals by David Shawwho just released his first collaboration with Jennifer Cardinion Correspondant. The last track on the B side Take Me To The Top Dubfeatures Bozzwellaka Hiemfrom Firm fame. The Dub versions are exclusive for the Vinyl release. Robi's cover design is again in the same line as the whole Album project, including the Artbook, Video and Screenprints.
Review: After releases on Saints & Sonnets and Stay Underground, It Pays, Berlin artist Quell aligns with the MIL label for the four track Tomahawk which further cements his reputation for no-nonsense, stripped back house and techno music. "Size 7" sets the tone, a dark, underground roller with a trilling bassline and acidy bleeps that sits nicely alongside the shimmering chords and deep dubby vibes of "Monolame". On the B-side, Harhead leads with fluid percussive rhythms and sequential kick drums to give an immediate groove-intrinsic melody. The energetic, groove-led tone continues into the last track, "Where Are They Now", a Dark, techno-fused stripped back rhythm track with an acid tinged-feel.
Review: The legacy of Vibraphone's second wave continues to represent the best of classic Italian house, as long-time producer Joy Kitikonti joins up with Vibraphone main man Stefano Di Carlo to present this EP of impeccable grooves made the good old fashioned way. "Beautiful Eyes" takes the romantic, Ibizan approach to trancey house with its hands-aloft lead lines, while "Drink For Peace" brings a bit more jacking attitude to the table. "Devotion D" perhaps speaks to the more classic Vibraphone sound with its heads down chords and throbbing bassline, capturing that 90s vibe in fine style.
Review: After a pair of superb 12"s from Duckett, Untilmyheartstops turn their attentions to across the Atlantic with the label debut of Zachary Lubin. Fans of the Kimochi label will recognise Lubin from the two wonderful 12"s he's committed to the cause over the past three years, and this four-track Future Laboratories record is a fine addition to his small discography. "Flooring Operations" opens proceedings on a dizzying techno tip, a kaleidoscope of sound billowing up around the taut bass drums, whilst "Mediation Garden" will please those who like some sonic grit in the mix. By contrast, the excellently titled "Ambivalent Robot" veers off into insouciant, glistening techno and is quite life-affirming. "Chloroform" rounds out the 12" on a similarly warm tip.
Review: Number 7 in Music is Love's sister label MIL arrives and throws the spotlight on rising Irish producer Chris Hanna, last seen impressing for Ejeca's Exploris label. Opening proceedings on Muscle House is "Drone", a rough and distorted track that is narrated by the constant synth buzzing above the heavy groove laid down by Hanna. Complementing this, "The Colonel" maintains a peak time mood with some furiously paced drums cannoning around the mix atop a heavily sequenced bassline. Title track "Muscle House" opens the B-side, offering Hanna the chance to show off his prowess at acid lines, whilst closer "UM9" veers off into epic, emotive territory without losing any of the rugged, rhythmic physicality shown throughout the 12".

""Wild Metals"" sounds like ferns and orchids infiltrating a tableaux of black plastic electronics, the breed of black plastic that Russo and Wyatt both found sinisterly inserted into the grid of their childhood. It provided the skin for some of their favorite toys, and its general resonance was aligned with the fast cars, women, and architecture that dominated their imaginations.
Review: DX Recordings returns with a four tracker from Scott Fraser, folllowing on from the inaugural Dariana 12" earlier this year featuring a deep as hell remix from Chicago legend Mystic Bill. 3 different moods of analogue warmth starting off with "No Word Of Truth" a driving Detroit infused groove joining the dots across to Berlin's Basic Channel, with a Deep bassline, rattling tom's and shifting high hats. On B2 Mystic Bill takes the track deeper and darker, adding dubs, soaring vocals and tight percussion this is Mystic Bills trademark deepness at its best. Over on side B we start off with another Aslice of classic deep techno with a heady basslin. Thumping drums and driving strings keeping feet firmly on the danceloor, leaning heavily again towards Detroit a massive bassline rips in and the strobes come on . Finally on B2 another original remastered piece of deepness from the vaults finally see's a full release on vinyl. Simple, deep vibing house finding a loft space somehere that Metro Area were residing in 2000's New York.
Review: Brighton's ever-cultured Black Key label pushes on with another house connoisseur for its next release, namely the venerated Scotland-based deep house producer Brad Peterson. Opening up the EP is "Monsoon" a nice and propulsive house jam that journeys through deep space with infectious drum hits and radiant synths fleshing out the rubbery groove. "Sit Back" is a more reflective and sombre cut, with wallowing, liquid chords draped over a ponderous, snaking bassline. The classy, cultured work continues on closer "Cloud Remedy" with its reverb coated hits, decisive drums and carefully spraying, ever shifting synth patterns. Classic but not overly reverential of the past, it's a beautifully musical bit of deep house with gently tumbling, starry night sky melodies to die for.
Review: For their latest vinyl release, the TINK! Music label looks to Lisbon and the enigmatic duo Gatupreto, whose Modo Di Trabadja 12" betrays all manner of influences that seep beyond the realm of house music. In their own words, "the art Gatupreto generates is simple, unpretentious and sincere, it owes to the classic rave vibe as much as to the rawness of hip hop as much to the sunset of Cape Verde as to the sunrise of the Lisbon riverside." This manifests itself in two understandably diverse productions from Gatupreto with the heavily percussive workout of Vahagn's closing remix of "Grandi Loba" of particular note.
Review: As part of Mura Oka, Louis Vial has already been spotted on the excellent Latency label as well as delivering a solo EP to Collapsing Market earlier this year. He once again dons his Eszaid cape on this release for the equally fine Meandyou stable, tapping into the labels predilection for obscure variations on the fringes of house and techno. "777,7" is especially captivating in its insistent cyclical minimalism, drilling straight for the subconscious, while "Eyeless Mannekin" sets adrift in aqueous climes for a proper floatation tank dub techno immersion. Using subtlety as a powerful tool, Eszaid ably matches up to the quality that has come before on Meandyou.
Tempo Reale (Eduardo De La Calle Tempo Intrusion Reale remix)
Review: Italian label Greentech was inaugurated by Minimono last year with a great remix by Windy City legend Paul Johnson. The second edition features Gaetano Caruana aka Caruan making his debut in production after many years of DJing. "Tempo Reale" is an inventive and off kilter groove generated by clearly analogue means that pounds and grinds away out of sync at first, until it gradually begins to lock and it sounds great. There's some killer remixes by a real who's who of the scene and we can't help but mention all of them! First up fellow Italians Verrina & Ventura deliver a typically stripped and rolling minimal house rendition. Croatian hypnotic techno don Petar Dundov then delivers something more pounding and aggressive than we're used to, but we loved it all the same. Finally the "Eduardo De La Calle Tempo Intrusion Reale remix" sees the Spanish master of trance induction deliver one of his best remixes in a while, complete with spooky sci-fi atmosphere, Millsian bleeps and sonar blips.
Review: Junto Club kicked off Snap Crackle & Pop late last year, and now the label returns with the debut solo release from London-based outfit DEEDS. While Rollo and Kiri Inglis may have previously popped up on an obscure compilation on Anti-Ghost Moon Ray, this record should see their coldwave sound shoring up with many more adventurous listeners. "Video Dreams" is a beautifully melancholic slice of electronica while "Unknown" reaches for euphoric heights. Remixes from Bezier and The Field round the record out as a wonderful exercise in emotive home listening electronics for sensitive souls.
Review: Having emerged from the murky waters of the tape scene on Always Human and Summer Isle, Strahinja Arbutina follows up on a first 12" for BANK Records NYC with this sterling sure shot for the excellent Bliq label. There's a range of styles displayed across Fox Venom, but the tracks are held together by the immersive, droning atmospheres that linger in the background of the productions. "Fox Venom" lurches under a heavy cloud like the best subterranean techno should, while "Teabagging Mystery" gets locked into a deathly minimal groove. This is music for the graveyard shift, although Deemonlover's "So Solid Mix" of "Fox Venom" does inject some wild breakbeat action into the gothic surroundings.
Review: Both an intriguing and very cool release on Hyperdub, Philly producer King Britt surfaces after a long absence with this new project that goes beyond his traditionally lush and funky nu-jazz and broken beat releases into a darker and chillier place. The Gary Numan-meets-Prince spank of "Chasing Rainbows" is a great starter, while the off-the-wall drum programming of "The Chase" and the filmic swathe of "Lilloo's Seduction" show a breadth of talent that can only come from being in the game for 15 years plus.
