4HP PSU connection module
Notes: If you decide to use rack ears to mount Erica Synths 84HP enclosure in the studio rack, you may want to access the PSU connection from the front of the case, instead of the top. The 4HP PSU connection module is the solution. PSU Input module is intended to be used with external PSUs which provide an output voltage from +9V to +12V ("+" in the centre).

For two row Eurorack enclosures (2x84HP), use a small screwdriver to disconnect the existing PSU connector from the blue terminal and connect the PSU connector module as shown on the photo.

For one row Eurorack enclosures (1x84HP), you will need a soldering iron to solder wires from the PSU connector module as shown on the photo. Make sure soldered wires do not touch the aluminium enclosure!

Multi-connector module - 4HP
Notes: Modules A-180-1 and A-180-2 are simple multi-connectors. They have eight inter-connected sockets, so that you can "multiply" any audio or control signal. From the factory the modules come as two four-fold multiples. But they can be modified as an eight-fold multiple (solder bridge on the pcb). Though these modules are very "primitive" they are required very often in patches (e.g. to distribute a clock signal or a control voltage). Within a big A-100 system sufficient multiples should be planned. The function of A-180-1 and A-180-2 is the same. The modules differ only in the front panel width.

For the distribution of control voltages used for pitch control of several VCOs the buffered multiple A-185-2 is recommended. This module has a built in buffer (and a lot of additional features like CV summing) that avoids small voltage losses that may be heard in pitch control applications.

4HP Eurorack module consisting of four buffer circuits for control voltages
Notes: Module A-180-4 is a fourfold CV buffer. Buffers are required if the control voltage coming from a CV source shows a voltage drop in case of changing loads or due to other reasons a buffering is required.

For the lower three units the input is normalled to the output of the above unit. That way the module can work as 1-in-4 buffered multiple provided that no signals are applied to the inputs of the three lower units.

Typical applications:

- Buffering the outputs of voltage controlled switches (e.g. A-150-1, A-150-8, A-151, A-152). Comment: in case of bidirectional switches it's not possible to integrate the buffers into the switching module because the direction is not known (i.e. which terminal of the switch is working as input and which as output). All electronic switches suffer from a small residual restistance that may cause a small voltage drop without buffering. This may become a problem especially when VCOs are controlled by the switched voltages.
- Buffering of CV interfaces, quantizers, slew limiter, S&H/T&H, sequencer etc. when VCOs are controlled by the CV (provided that the module in question does not feature a buffered output)
- Buffered multiple (similar to A-180-3)

4-track, 16-step trigger sequencer
Notes: TRIQ164 is a 4-track, 16-step trigger sequencer.

Four track buttons select the track to be edited; with 16 buttons each step of the track can be activated an is then displayed by an LED.

For each step in each track a "repeat" can be activated, resulting in repeated triggers within one step. The number of repeats can be selected from one to eight by the REPEAT knob. Additionally, the repeat count can be CV controlled by the REPEAT CV input.

The inputs MUTE 1/2 allow to mute the outputs 1 and 2 by an external signal (e.g. for muting a kick drum)

Each of the 16 steps has a separate trigger output for additional control for certain steps or limiting the sequence length by connecting one of the outputs to the RESET input.

Use it for any kind of rhythmical patterns, typically for triggering drum sounds or envelope generator!

No, it has no pattern load/save features; this will be part of a future, much more complex sequencer. TRIQ164 is designed as improved replacement for the STEP10.

Notes: The A-130 is a VCA with linear characteristic, thus primarily intended for controlling the level of CVs. It offers two signal inputs and an output with adjustable volume. Amplification is set with a Gain control and two modulation inputs.

Not only control voltages can be used to "open" the VCA and to let the inputs pass through, there is also a manual gain control. Notes: Module A-118 is (as you might have guessed) a noise and random voltage generator. It produces three types of signal: white noise, coloured noise, and random voltage. The noise signal is generated 100% analogue by amplification of the noise of a transistor. White and coloured noise can be used as audio sources, and also, in conjunction with a sample & hold module, as control voltages, and the random voltage is a useful source of voltage control, especially for its low frequency content.

The A-118 gives you the ability to mix the relative amounts of Red (low frequency component) and Blue noise (high frequency component) in the coloured noise output.

There are knobs to control the rate of change and amplitude of the random voltage, and two LEDs indicate the state of the voltage at any one time.

Quad VCA with linear curve - 8HP
Notes: Module A-132-2 contains four linear VCAs with a common level control section for all four VCAs. The module can be used for all applications of simultaneous amplitude/level control of four different audio or CV signals. The module has a manual level control Amp. and two control voltage inputs CV1 and CV2 available. CV2 is equipped with a polarizer to adjust the effect and polarity of the external control voltage.

The A-132-2 is equipped with an internal connector that can be used to normalize the four input sockets to other modules. So far only the quadrature LFO/VCO A-143-9 is equipped with a suitable matching connector. To connect the A-132-2 and the A-143-9 no soldering is required. A short 10 pin ribbon cable with removable connectors on both ends is used. For the normalling to other modules (e.g. Quad AD/LFO A-143-1, Quad ADSR A-143-2, Quad LFO A-143-3 or other modules with several outputs like VCOs or multimode VCFs) the second side of the ribbon cable has to be wired manually to the outputs of the module in question.

The maximum manual amplification for each channel is about 1.5 (i.e. "Amp." control fully CW). With an external control voltage applied to CV2 the maximum amplification goes beyond 1.5 until the signal starts to clip. The maximum output level is about 20Vpp (i.e. the signal clips at about +10V and -10V).

Typical applications:

Simultaneous level control of up to four modulation sources (e.g. ADSRs, LFOs)

Simultaneous level control of up to four audio sources (e.g. VCO outputs, multimode VCF outputs, multi-channel audio signals)

Simultaneous FM effects with different audio signals (with CV1 or CV2 in audio range)

Two sample & hold units in one module for generating stepped random voltages or slicing signals
Notes: Module A-148 (Dual S&H) has two identical sample & hold modules, designed to produce 'staircase' voltages. The signal present at the sample input is sampled at a rate set by the signal at the trigger input, and held at that voltage at the S&H output.

The exact shape of the staircase depends on the sort of waveform at the sample input: NOISE or RANDOM signals produce random patterns; an LFO produces rising or falling staircase patterns.

Crossfader for two different A-100 signals, plus insert for external effects
Notes: The A-138d primarily is used for crossfading between two modular signals. On the other hand you can used it for inserting stompboxes or other effects into your modular system. Both the inputs and the mix output are available twice, like a mini-multiples e.g. for using the input signal also for other applications, kind of like a Thru.

Crossfader: With the crossfading control CF you blend manually between the inputs In 1 and In 2. The Mute switch allows for muting one of the two signals, independent on the crossfader position.

Effect insert: The signal at input In1 is emitted at the FX Send output and can be attenuated with the Atten. control because the modular system works with much higher levels.

The effect unit's output is inserted to the FX Return input socket and its level can be boosted with the Amp. control. The processed signal is available at the bottom in 2 socket.

Use the CF control to blend between the original signal and the effect signal and to mute switch for quick muting e.g. of the effect return signal.

Notes: A-133 is a special dual voltage controlled amplifier that enables both positive and negative amplifications. Negative amplification means in this context that the signal is inverted. The main application of the module is the processing of control voltages, e.g. ADSR or LFO but the module can be used also for audio applications (e.g. as a waveshaper, see patch examples below).

The amplification range is about -2.5....0....+2.5 (other amplification ranges for small additional charges, e.g. -1...+1 or -5...+5). MIDI interface for the TRAX! sequencer - 3HP
Notes: The MIDI BUS was designed to be a MIDI interface for the Eurorack system, and more specifically to offer MIDI inputs and outputs for the TRAX performance sequencer.

This device provides opto-isolation of the MIDI input and buffers all MIDI signals.

The MIDI BUS provides MIDI IN/OUT/THRU inputs and outputs on 3.5mm TRS jacks. Three 3.5mm to 5-pin DIN MIDI cables are included with each MIDI BUS product. These MIDI cables conform to the TRS MIDI B Spec Class, currently supported by Arturia, Novation, and 1010 Music devices.

The MIDI BUS uses the power bus cable to receive and transmit MIDI at the +3.3 volt standard. In order to do this, the MIDI BUS repurposes what the Eurorack standard defines as the INT GATE line of the power bus for MIDI IN signals, and the INT CV line of the power bus for MIDI OUT signals.

To prevent conflicts with other signals that may be using these lines of the power bus, we recommend using the special MIDI BUS power cable provided with this unit, or our optional Flying Bus power cable when using the MIDI BUS with the TRAX product or any other products using this new MIDI standard.

The MIDI BUS power cable that is provided with your MIDI BUS will allow only a single device in your system to send and transmit MIDI.

The optional Flying Bus power cable allows multiple modules connected to this cable to share MIDI data with one another and also receive the proper power from the system, without connecting MIDI signals to other modules in your system.

Compact module for modulating four parameters from a single CV signal - 8HP
Notes: Module A-144 is a control voltage modifier that is used in combination with the voltage controlled mixer A-135 in the first place. From a linear increasing voltage at the input the module derives four displaced triangle output voltages. When these 4 outputs are connected to the four control voltage inputs of the A-135 one obtains a fading over of the four A-135 audio inputs ("morphing"). The Morphing can be controlled manual and modulated with an external control voltage (e.g. from LFO, ADSR, Random, MIDI-to-CV, Theremin, Light-to-CV, analogue sequencer) with attenuator.

Applications: voltage controlled morphing of 4 audio signals in combination with A-135, e.g. morphing between the 4 waveform outputs of an VCA (sawtooth/ rectangle/ triangle/ sine) or the 4 filter outputs of the multimode filter A-121 (lowpass/ bandpass/ highpass/ notch) or the 4 filter outputs of the A-105 (6/12/18/24dB) to obtain a filter with voltage controlled slope.

When an audio source (e.g. sawtooth, triangle or sine of a VCO) is used as CV input signal the module can be used also as Waveshaper. The four A-144 outputs can be mixed e.g. by means of a Polarizing Mixer A-138c with adjustable level and polarity.

Dual crossfader module for voltage controlled morphing between two audio or CV signals
Notes: Module A-134-2 contains two identical voltage controlled crossfader units.

Each unit has two voltage controlled amplifiers (VCAs) with opposite control behaviour available. The outputs of the two VCAs are mixed together to obtain a common output. The behaviour of the control voltage inputs can be chosen with an internal jumper:

Symmetrical mode: If the corresponding jumper is not set both VCAs of the crossfader have the same 50% amplification with zero CV. If the applied CV becomes positive the amplification of VCA1 decreases and those of VCA2 increases in the same way. A negative CV has the opposite result. The CV voltage range to obtain the maximum/minimum positions of the crossfader is about -2.5....+2.5V. This mode is useful for bidirectional (i.e. positive and negative) control voltages, for example LFO or joy stick (adjusted to 0V CV in centre position).

Asymmetrical mode: If the corresponding jumper is set VCA2 is fully closed and VCA1 has full 100% amplification with zero CV. If the applied CV becomes positive the amplification of VCA1 decreases and those of VCA2 increases in the same way. The CV voltage range to obtain the maximum/minimum positions of the crossfader is about 0...+5V. A negative CV has no function in this mode. This mode is useful for unidirectional (i.e. only positive) control voltages, for example ADSR, ribbon controller or Theremin control voltage.

The CV input of the upper unit (CV1) is normalled to the CV input of the lower unit (CV2). I.e. if no plug is inserted to CV2 the CV input of the upper unit (CV1) also controls the lower unit.

The second signal input of the upper unit (In1B) is normalled to the first signal input of the lower unit (In2A). I.e. if no plug is inserted into In2A the signal In1B is used as the first signal input of the second unit.

As the inputs and outputs are DC coupled the module can be used for both audio and control voltage signal processing.

Notes: Module A-160 is a frequency divider for clock/trigger/gate signals, designed to be a source of lower frequencies, particularly for rhythm uses. The Trigger input will take clock signals from, e.g. an LFO, MIDI sync, or the gate from a MIDI-CV interface.

At the outputs, you have access to the sub-divided clock signals, from half the clock frequency down to 1/64. The low/high levels of the output signals are 0V and about +10V.
