Lapsus Os is a four channel attenuator/attenuverter and offset. Designed with performance in mind, each channel can be set to either attenuate or attenuate/invert an incoming signal, adjust offset of an incoming signal, or with nothing patched to its input, generate a 0-5v or i5v offset. Switches on the back of the module invert the fader behavior, allowing for the module to be mounted in either direction, for further customization and ease of use.

Interface

Faders 1-4: The main controls of LO. The LEDs in the faders show the CV that is being passed through. When in attenuverter mode, the LED will be off at 0, allowing each fader to easily be set near 0.

Offset inputs 1-4 (+): Sending a signal to these inputs adds an offset to the input, controlled by the fader and the mode switch.

Outputs: Each channel has a pair of identical outputs. If nothing is sent to either input of a channel, an offset will be generated and output here, useful for controlling parameters on other modules with a single fader.

Uni/Bi Switches 1-4: In the Unipolar position (left), the corresponding channel attenuates the input signal. In the Bipolar position (right), the upper half of the corresponding channel fader attenuates the input signal, the lower half of the fader inverts and attenuates the signal.

Attenuating/attenuverting inputs 1-4 (x): Sending a signal to these inputs attenuates/attenuverts the signal, depending on the position of the channel fader and switch.

Rear-board switches: Below, in red. Inverts the corresponding channel, allowing for creative mounting in either direction. Note that each channel must be switched independently to fully reverse the functionality.

Patch Tutorial

Patch 1: Set a channel switch to the left position and patch the outputs to CV inputs on another module (for instance, Loquelic Iteritas). The fader becomes an easy-to-use controller for those parameters. Patch the rest of the LO channels to other parameters in your system to create an expressive and intuitive interface.

Patch 2: Patch a CV signal (such as an LFO) into the attenuverting input of a channel. Set the channel switch to the right position, and patch the output to a bipolar CV input in your system. Tweak the fader to attenuvert and dial in the perfect amount of modulation on the fly.

Patch 3: In a case with four voices route each LO channel to the decay control for each voice. Use for centralized control over voicing.

Its simple interface and unique, immersive sound make it a staple for any style of sound design. Use the hard sync input to add an aggressive edge to sounds when synced to another oscillator, or try patching VIL's left and right phase-modulation inputs independently for even further sonic exploration in the stereo field. Notes: Bin Seq is an eight-step switchable gate sequencer. Besides individual signals, it is also possible to notate tied events. Cursus Iteritas Alia

Dynamically generated wavetable oscillator using orthogonal functions on a swappable oscillator platform

Cursus Iteritas Alia is Noise Engineering's take on a wavetable-inspired additive oscillator. Cursus creates sounds from a dynamically generated wavetable, then gives the user spectral controls to sculpt and modulate. Cursus has three different algorithms, based on different conceptualizations of frequency: Fourier, which uses sine waves; Daubechies, using wavelets; and Walsh mode, using the Walsh transform. All that math is hidden behind a set of friendly controls that produces an extremely wide variety of harmonic sounds, perfect for melodic sound design. Cursus has long been regarded as the gentlest Iteritas, but if you need some beef and extra low end, try mixing the suboscillator output into your patch.

Notes: Mimetic Digitalis is a 10HP step sequencer optimized for live use. MD includes four individually editable CV outputs and a trigger out. Each step can be manually programmed or use MD to live record CV sequences using the encoder. The zero button mutes the CV at a step and shred randomizes the voltage. Save and load up to 16 patterns. Edit a pattern and use undo to return to the unedited version.

Notes: Roucha Legio is a 12 dB /octave state-variable stereo multimode filter available on the Legio DSP+oscillator platform.

Noise Engineering received tons of requests for NE filters over the years, and Roucha Legio is their first dedicated release. The filter features lowpass, bandpass, and highpass settings and tracks frequency via the dedicated encoder and extremely accurate 1v/8va CV input. Roucha Legio's CV-controlled resonance parameter can go from clean to acidy-squelchy for bassline joy. Add CV for filter sweeps that will knock your socks off. Of course, because it's a Noise Engineering module, there's a Fold knob. Add wavefolding to the signal chain before, after, or both before and after the filter.

Noise Engineering have made it easy to carry out dramatic buildups and cuts with Roucha Legio. Just tap the encoder to bypass; tap again to turn the filter on again. Want to automate it? Send a gate into the Bypass input. The filter will remain bypassed as long as a high gate is present.

Roucha Legio is also a DSP and oscillator platform: users can change the firmware on any Legio module, 100% free, to any other firmware in the Legio series.

Sinc Legio is a simple oscillator with some tricks up its proverbial sleeve. If you need some basic waveforms, Sinc has you covered - and it makes it easy to spice up those waveforms with phase modulation, wavefolding, or hard sync. Sinc pairs well with other oscillators in your system, too: hard-sync and stereo PM inputs make complex sounds easy to patch. Combine broad-ranging timbral parameters with a vintage-inspired chorus, and you're well on your way to stereo sound-design heaven in just 6 HP.

Incus Iteritas Alia is a new member of the Iteritas family, hammering big and bold sounds into your patches. Incus started as a percussion voice, and evolved into so much more: create kicks for any genre, snares, and metallic hits, or go melodic and create FM plucks, analogue-style basslines, and so much more. Incus uses a combination of waveshaping, saturation, wavefolding, FM, and additive synthesis, plus a slew of internal modulation, all behind easy-to-use parameters perfect for jamming.

Notes: Pons Asinorum is a compact four-channel multimode envelope generator and LFO with voltage control. PA has three different envelope shapes, CV over cycle length, and a unique single encoder control scheme that makes adjusting multiple channels mid-performance easy. Channels can be set separately to envelope mode or to cycle in LFO mode, giving PA maximal flexibility in a minimal footprint.

Notes: Roti Pola is a four channel attenuverting CV mixer and offset with visual feedback in a small package. With nothing patched to channel 1, a 5v offset is applied to the mix, useful for controlling other parameters or modifying CV signals.

Notes: Noise Engineering Sinc Defero is a buffered four channel attenuator designed for control voltages. Two LEDs per channel show the incoming and outgoing signals, with green for positive voltage and red for negative, so you always know what's exactly going on. Thanks to the buffered outputs, it is possible to send the signals to multiple destinations without any voltage drop, unlike passive attenuators! Sinc Defero is therefore ideal for controlling various modules with one control voltage!

Sinc Bucina is the sequel to one of our first modules, Sinclastic Empulatrix, replacing the clamping VCA with a resonant lowpass VCF and VCA combo. The velocity-dependent Ping input offers classic release-only LPG behavior, while the Gate input offers much more complex slewing, useful for simple ASR envelopes to dynamic modulation. Have you ever wanted a slice of the BIA pie when you don't have room for the whole thing? Tymp Legio is for you.

Inspired by Noise Engineering's love of all types of percussion, Tymp Legio isn't your normal drum-kit module with samples or emulations of simple sounds. Instead, Noise Engineering took the challenge of a small percussion module as an opportunity to fit the drum sounds into 6hp with quick access. Tymp Legio's simple interface puts a massive tonal and textural range under your control. The modes (Boot, Cat, Boing) are an onomatopoetic guide to the sounds each encompasses. Each mode is offset by three octaves, but dial them up or down for even more versatility. Toggle the Tang switch to select the palate within each mode that suits you. The Quack inputs will duck your audio to your percussion (or pass through in Boing mode), making Tymp Legio a fantastic performance-percussion module.

Notes: Clep Diaz is a handy and small step CV and LFO generator. In step and random modes, use the encoder to control the number of steps in the sequence; in LFO mode, the encoder controls the amplitude of the wave. Toggle the directionality of the sequence: up, down, or up/down to customize the CVs further. CD also gives CV control over the number of steps in the sequence and an end-of-cycle trigger output. Unipolar and bipolar outputs allow maximal control.

Notes: Muta Jovis is a 4HP switchable quad mute. The inputs are circularly normalled so a single input can be sent (and muted) to up to four outputs. Switches and LEDs that indicate channels that are outputting signal leave no doubt about the state of each channel. MJ was designed with gates/triggers in mind.

Notes: Loquelic Iteritas is a digital VCO with interpretations of three classic synthesis algorithms involving dual pitch control. It creates a huge variety of sounds parameterized by four tone and two pitch controls.

It has a simple interface, with 3 different synthesis algorithms allied to a number of different controls / CV inputs which have different effects, depending on which mode you choose. Simply hook up a number of modulation sources to the 4 inputs and start wiggling!

Notes: The Numeric Repetitor is a rhythmic gate generator that describes rhythms as binary numbers and then multiplies by other numbers. With a concept similar to the Zularic Repetitor, the Numeric Repetitor is a voltage controlled rhythm generator.

Clock is sent to the Beat input. With the Prime potentiometer or a CV you can select one rhythmical pattern based on 16 mathematic factors. With a switch you can select between 2 sets of patterns, X and Y.

The gate pattern is available at the Prime output, variation of it at outputs Factor 1, 2 and 3. Each of the variations can be offset in time with the Offset potentiometer or CV, which can generate great rhythms. Each channel has a LED which visualizes a gate.

The Measure input or the button allow you to reset the pattern.

Notes: The Zularic Repetitor is a rhythmic gate generator based off the rhythmic theory of African music. A core pattern forms the basis and variation is achieved by offsetting this pattern in time relative to the base.

This module contains 16 mother rhythms from African, Indian, Latin and Funk roots. Each rhythm outputs four variations of itself simultaneously while allowing the offset of each part in time by CV and Knob. It requires only a master clock to run and also allows the pattern to be reset by an external gate.

Connect a clock to the Beat input and let's go! With the Mother potentiometer or a CV you can select one of 32 rhythmical patterns which have African, Indian, Latin American or Funk roots. With a switch you can select between rhythms from the Old or New World.

The gate pattern is available at the Mother output, variation of it at outputs Child 1, 2 and 3. Each of the variations can be offset in time with the Offset potentiometer or a CV, which can generate great rhythms. Each channel has a LED which visualizes a gate.

Manis Iteritas Alia is a voice based on the architecture of Basimilus. It was designed to be grittier and more aggressive by using only sawtooth waves that are manipulated, modulated, and distorted through a rethought interface. Notes: Viol Ruina is an all-analogue distortion and lowpass filter with an internal envelope follower and self-modulating cutoff. The four-pole design is reminiscent of the classic filters we all know but with a completely new and slightly ridiculous twist. The independently addressable distortion circuit takes VR into overdriven paradise with a shocking amount of drive. Built-in envelope following makes an easy way to create dynamic patches with the flick of a switch, and feedback FM takes VR to a whole new realm of filthiness. Run a sound through VR, you'll get something cool out of it.

Notes: Neat utility module allowing up to four channels of CV to be transposed up by one or two octaves. Built-in mults for splitting one signal and transposing it by different amounts. Clean and simple.

Quant Gemi is a small transposition/split utility. Each channel can be used to transpose a sequence up 0, 1, or 2 octaves. The channels are also normalled together so the same sequence can be split up to 4 ways and transposed separately.

Notes: Quantus Pax is a four-channel precision adder, buffered multiple, and polyphonic transposition utility. Each channel has two CV inputs and can be further modified by the three Xpose inputs. QP is made with high quality low-tolerance resistors for unbeatable accuracy. Patch-wide key changes, polyphonic movement, mathematically derived melodies, and more are all to be had with this simple but useful utility.

Notes: Bin Seq is an eight-step switchable gate sequencer. Besides individual signals, it is also possible to notate tied events. In addition to clock and reset inputs, there are manual control options for both functions. A great utility module, which can not only be used to create simple beats, but to manipulate other sequencers or trigger modulators rhythmically as well.
