Never Give Up (7:35)
Seen At Night (5:23)
Forever Alone (5:26)
Rooftop (7:01)
Review: The peeps behind the People Of Earth label claim that Rick Wade is on top form on their latest release. While that's undoubtedly true, the Detroiter has incredibly high standards and rarely puts out anything mediocre. The four tracks here are all deliciously deep and fluid, with the Fender Rhodes solos, meandering organ lines, warm bass and chunky beats of "Never Give Up" delivering just the right blend of instrumental goodness and dancefloor-ready weightiness. "Seen At Night" is an even deeper and hazier treat, while "Forever Alone" sees Wade wrap bongo-laden beats and eyes-closed electric piano chords around a ludicrously warm and heavy bassline. Solo-laden closing cut "Rooftop" is also superb - a proper sundown selection of the highest calibre.

Golden Era (4:53)
Tropical Twilight (7:00)
That Time (5:44)
Review: Although best known for promoting new and fast-rising artists, Shall Not Fade has also become a regular home for deep house royalty, not least Rick Wade. Golden Era marks the Detroiter's fifth EP for the Bristol-based imprint, and as usual is full-to-bursting with class-sounding deep house hits. The title track can be found stretched across the A-side, with Wade smothering a deep, squelchy synth bassline and pleasingly swinging deep house drums in gorgeous chords, sun-soaked trumpet sounds, heady synth-strings and languid keyboard solos. The classy vibe continues on side B, where the bongo-rich deep house bliss of 'Tropical Twilight' is followed by the dusty, sub-heavy energy of deep and drowsy floor-filler 'That Time'.

No BS (5:41)
Review: Six years on from his first outing on the imprint, Rick Wade drops his fifth EP for Shall Not Fade. Predictably, it's another beauty, with the long-serving Detroit deep house producer cannily combining electronic and organic instrumentation. Check first A-side 'Vibe Like', where warming Fender Rhodes motifs, rubbery bass guitar and spacey synthesiser doodles ride a restless house groove. Wade opts for a deeper, TB-303 style bassline and more densely layered percussion on the immersive, deep and quietly soulful 'Groove Head', before successfully playing around with sampled loops, subtly hip-hop-influenced house beats and sustained chords on quirky closing cut 'No Bs'.

Review: Following a great one by local veteran Jason Hodges, the third vinyl release on Demuir's Toronto-based label Purveyour Underground Limited presents a brilliant two-tracker by Detroit legend Rick Wade. On side A, there's the sublime Detroit Beatdown vibe of 'Can't Be Beat' with positive vibes abound, followed over on the flip by the dreamy Sunday afternoon feels of 'Soldier's Story' that's perfect for those eyes-closed moments on the dancefloor. Review: Does anyone in the house scene turn out more high quality material than Rick Wade? Answers on a 7" to Juno HQ, if you have any, because we're stumped. Anyway, this time, the US track making machine finds himself getting remixed on Belgium's Elypsia with each getting more gritty and cosmic minded than you might expect from the deep house stalwart himself. Tresilo certainly grits his teeth for the pixelated melodic workout that is the opener, while things get more smooth and cuddly with Pezzner at the buttons. The Vintage Future Planet D mix is a thing of meditative beauty ad last of all Pezzner reappears with a second fine remix.

Nasty Night (4:53)
Review: Almost two years have passed since Detroit deep house man Rick Wade made his bow on Rawax Motor City Edition with the awesome Another Galaxy EP. Happily, we can report that this belated sequel is every bit as alluring as its predecessor. For proof, check A-side 'Delicious', where mazy, mood enhancing electric piano solos, spacey electronics and and woozy, starlight chords stretch out across a bongo-enhanced deep house groove. Wade switches to sci-fi techno/yearning deep house fusion on the equally admirable title track ('Mystic Tech'), before rounding off proceedings via another slab of electric piano-enhanced deep house hedonism ('Nasty Night').

Review: American great Rick Wade is a real tune making machine. He has a well formed sound by not and only ever seems to tweak the elements but manages to cook up the goods each and every time. One of his finest outings was the Late Night Basix Vol 2 EP which now gets a welcome reissue to annoy the Discogs sharks. Each of the four cuts established a smooth and seductive groove before overlaying them with funky riffs in the case of 'I Feel Good' and jazzy chords on 'Detroit Hustle.' There is similarly deep tackle on the flip with two more superb cuts rolling into the wee small hours.

Review: Detroit legend and Harmonie Park main man Rick Wade is back with a nice new EP on Rymd for all of you who like it deep. First up "Strong Arm" is the kind of real proper deep house that is often imitated but hardly matched. From the unmistakable knack of its groove to its swirling and mesmerising Rhodes in the foreground. "Funkopolis" gets deeper and as the name suggests has a totally killer bassline and just generally awesome soul goodness going on! Proper Detroit style representing here. Italians Deep 88 and Emotion (Ignacio) turn in some surprisingly good remixes on the flip that do their job well by not deviating too much from the originals and reworking the grooves into decent alternate versions. Recommended.

Technological Lament (Tomoki Tamura Tool edit - vinyl only)
Review: Rick Wade delivers three deep originals on Holic Trax this March with a Tomoki Tamura edit in tow. One swift look at Rick Wade's staggering back catalogue, from a career spanning more than 20 years, will attest to the Detroit-based producers raw talent in the studio, crafting grooveladen rhythms into cuts that exemplify the word deep. In his latest EP, 'Tech Breed', Rick demonstrates his inimitable production prowess across three expertly forged tracks. Straight from the off you can hear Wade's knack for creating synergy between analog gear and digital software as the title track ensues with an undulating groove that's quickly accompanied by subterranean synths for mesmerizing results. With 'Groovy' the percussion shifts to bongos, whilst ethereal atmospherics and otherworldly notes maintain a mood both arcane and dusky. The tone then shifts in 'Whoa Children' with a sharp injection of funk triggered by soulful vocals and a pulsing bassline - its sultry, smooth and guaranteed to get your body moving. In a sentence, the cuts offered up here ooze soul and vibrancy in a deep way that only Rick Wade can purvey, three warm and groovy cuts that will no doubt be finding their way into many a record bag this year. Holic Trax head honcho Tomoki Tamura delivers an equally dynamic club tool for the final offering on this excellent EP.

Rick Wade - "Do It" (5:41)
Review: The second part in the Hudd Traxx 10th Anniversary 'Now & Then' compilation sees tracks from Luna City Express, Sek, Iz & Diz and Rick Wade. Berlin duo Luna City Express serve up a lush deep house groove that builds throughout the track, and will bring a smile to the faces of those who follow them on their beloved Moon Habour Recordings. Sek uses slick beats, trippy leads, a driving bassline and some 'Thug life' vocals to ensure this one has 'future classic' written all over it. Go back in time (to 2006 to be precise) on the 'Then' side to find Iz & Diz's 'Happy'. The words 'epic' & 'journey' are often misused in music but both can be mentioned about this track. It had devastating effect on first release and is set to do the same again nearly 10 years later. Rick Wade closes things out in fine style to fly the Detroit flag on an all Chicago / Detroit side.

Review: The original deep house don Rick Wade is back in action with yet more of those soul-rooted tones to tickle your emotions and speak to your inner funk. This time he's been snapped up by 20:20 offshoot Fina who know a thing or two about the genre, and Mr. Wade has responded by pushing his sound further into sumptuous sample-laden territory that wakes up his somnambulant sound into something almost feisty. "Sweet Life" rolls on a heartfelt beatdown with romantic string swells and guitar licks, while "The Chateau" gets into a nasty groove with plenty of live drums and dramatic horn blasts before a more typical Wade style emerges on the steady grooving "Jazz Militia". To cap it all off Mr Beatnick delivers a remix of "Sweet Life' that works some fulsome bass into a sparser construction with dazzling results.

Review: Leeds based vinyl-only imprint Albion Records return with Council Estate Soldiers, a third label offering and their first split artist release! Side A delivers a slap across the cheeks with Deep House heavyweight Rick Wade leading the barrage on "Giggin" which perfectly encapsulates his well honed and iconoclastic sound; crisp percussion effortlessly carries the track alongside a devilishly deep bassline that hits deep. Young Brit Wil Maddams follows with "Warm Organic" which is the sensation you get from listening to the production as classic keys and accompanying synth reverberate a classic House sound which seems to have been lost over the last couple of years. On the flipside, Chi town legend Gene Hunt steps up and delivers an impressive sharp, hard hitting track which you find yourself unconsciously rocking away to manically throughout whilst Dudley Strangeways ends proceedings in emphatic style on the synth happy "Woods For Trees".

Review: The young guns at East London outfit Sneaky Music step up with somewhat of a hybrid release for their third outing. Combining the talents of Michigan maestro Rick Wade and the young blood from the Mobilee stable bringing the feel bang up to date with the remix duties. A Detroit, London, Berlin, house music Bermuda triangle, if you like! Rick Wade tirelessly continues to deliver deep and groove-led original slabs well into his third decade of producing and this luscious EP is no exception. A mix of old school beats with warm vintage keys with long established Mobilee records producer AND.ID almost re-working completely 'Me & You', giving a feel good dance floor filler touch full of mad drum hits and breaks. Whereas Sneaky label founder and newly Mobilee family member Ranacat comes up with a trippy lower tempo version of 'Neuro Stimuli' for those after party sunrise moments.

Review: The Moods & Grooves Classics series - in which vintage, long deleted gems from the back catalogue get another airing - continues with a strong quartet of tracks from Kenny Dixon Jnr and Rick Wade. The two untitled tracks from Dixon, under his occasional KDJ moniker, originally slipped out way back in 2000. Both are superb, with the goodtime shuffle of "Untitled 2" (all jangly house pianos and looped disco-influenced grooves) just losing out to the slower, African-inspired "Untitled 1" in the "EP highlight" stakes. Wade's two contributions - deep, spacious, blazed and deliciously melodious - are taken from his 1999 Quantum Expression EP. Of these, it's the enveloping, jazz-flecked warmth of "Forever Night" that stands out

"Beautiful World" is accompanied by the gentle touch of a Fender Rhodes and pensive vocals, while "In The Fields (original)" is more jacked-up and relatively more party-ready. Review: Booming warehouse beats and a looping female vocal similar to Marco Shuttle's hit "The Vox Attitude" dominates Agnes' "Question Rhetorique", the first track from a various artist sampler Hudd Traxx has put out to celebrate eight years of releasing records. Hudd Traxx stalwart Eddie Leader - who recently appeared on another EP with Agnes - supplies "Slumster", a rigid drum track swung by a choral of synthesised pads and heavily struck chords. Detroit legend Rick Wade delivers something a little more ambient until his trademark, tremolo-effected chords shine down on the track like a ray of light breaking through the clouds. Greek producer Sek caps of an energetic EP with the deeper - potential poolside anthem - "All Over Me".

Anger Management
Review: Back in the swing of things on Harmonie Park, Rick Wade is on as strong form as ever with this sturdy four tracker of regal deep house. "Feel It Movin'" is the sunniest of the jams, full of garage funk and peppy Rhodes chords, compatible with the New Jersey approach if not overly indebted to it. "Basements N Bluelights" is a more classically informed disco cut with tense soundtrack strings and a restrained, simmering beat, executed with an unmistakable respect for the origins of the sound. "Ghost Of Deepness Past" gets back on a mean shuffle, but of course keeping the melodic elements hushed and moody, and then at the last moment "Anger Management" comes steaming in with the most divine slice of edgy, hungover house for the end of the session.

Review: Following the recent dip into the Theo Parrish archives that was The Twin Cities, Phil Weeks' Robsoul imprint looks to another one of Detroit's adopted sons in the form of Rick Wade. Like that recent Parrish reissue, Weeks re-releases another three tracks from Wade's bulging discography. The upbeat disco loops of "Players Theme" was originally released on French label Funky Chocolate in 2002 and still sound fresher than anything being plied by the Soundcloud dwellers today, while "Can't You See" from 2003 provides a more soulful take on house music. On the flip, the tracky funk and cascading string melodies of "I Feel Good" originally graced Wade's own Harmonie Park imprint in 1998, but sound no less vital today. Essential.

Review: By now, we've come accustomed to a certain level of quality from Chicagoan deep house veteran Rick Wade. In truth, he rarely gets it wrong, either on his club-focused 12" singles or his deeper, more musically minded long players. This seventh full-length continues this impressive record, offering depth, warmth and emotion in spades. There are occasional bursts of '90s flavour - see the woozy chords, nagging strings and cut-up vocals of "De Luxe" and "Breaking Deep", or the low-end pressure of "Fun Play" - but for the most part Wade concentrates on the intricacies of emotion-rich fluidity. When he really hits the mark - as on the French Horn-encrusted title track, or the bumpin', jazz-wise "Harvest" - With You is simply stunning.

Review: The original godfather of deep house returns with this single containing two classic Wade cuts, re-released on clear vinyl, including "Night Station" from 2004, and "2AM Detroit" from 1998. Both are deceptively powerful cuts which are characterised by their sheer simplicity, and display why the man's name is held in such reverence; "Night Station" takes a four note bassline, organ stabs and tense string pad and simply lets its emotive mood play out, whilst "2am Detroit" on the flip side meanwhile takes more of a laidback loft party vibe, with jazzy keys which float over its swinging rhythm.
