Review: P. Lion is Pietro Paolo Pelandi, an Italian from Lombardo who launched himself into he dane world in the 80s with his debut tune 'Happy Children.' It proved to be a huge worldwide smash on dance floors everywhere and has had a million different releases and reissues ever since. Review: Italian singer Elena Ferretti was popular on the Italo and Eurobeat scene between the early '80s, produced by the likes of Giacomo Maiolini, Mauro Farina, Sergio Dall'Ora and Giancarlo Pasquini. One of her best known hits is the song "My World" (as Sophie). Here we have a reissue of Feretti's highly valued Italo classic (to those who know) in the form of "Witch" under the Helen alias - with which she used for half a dozen or so tracks in her career. Review: Mark Tower (real name Marco Silingardi) started DJing in 1973 while in secondary school. In the late '70s, he started his career as a professional DJ, attending various discos in northern Italy between 1982 - 1985 when he quit the DJ scene. He is regarded as a legend for his techniques behind the decks, incorporating reel-to-reel techniques which were quite innovative for the time. His first release 'You Aren't Fall In Love' was released on Discomagic back in 1983, and is reissued here on Felmming Dalum's ZYX Music. The glimmering neon-lit Italo disco of the original comes in both the original vocal and instrumental versions, as well as remixes by Dalum, Longdrink and Victor Ark - the latter's roaring rendition being our pick of the bunch.

Review: As the rather matter-of-fact title makes clear, this two-disc, DJ-friendly compilation rounds up some of the numerous killer 1980s club cuts nestled in German imprint ZYX's vast catalogue. Nominally it's all 'electro', though it's probably a stretch to describe much of the material as electro in the purest sense. This is nit-picking though because what's on offer is uniformly excellent. For proof, check Ann Clark's throbbing, urgent 'Our Darkness (Remix)' - whose melody possibly inspired the KLF's 'What Time is Love' - the bustling, Euro-freestyle cheeriness of Curare's 'Visions & Dreams', the Bobby Orlando-esque cheeriness of Interface's 'Like Puppets' and the chiming, Italo-disco influenced dancefloor synth-pop of Camouflage's 'The Great Commandment (US 12" Remix)'.

Review: Big reissue here of Biba's classic Italo disco hit 'Top Model.' Originally released back in 1986, it came on the Italian imprint Out Records and was an instant hit in underground clubs. It has remain a much in demand tune ever since and you'll be hard pushed to even find a copy of an OG let alone afford it. It is a glossy, glamours but raw stomper with a great vocal and retro melodies while 'By Night' strips away the vocals. This timeless and utterly singular slice of Italo disco magic was bootlegged originally back in around 2015 and then the label decided to reissue it properly in 2016, with a remastered set of tunes for maximum playback effect. They now issue a special 40th-anniversary version. The 1982 bombshell, originally out on Discomagic Records, goes by the name of 'The Man From Colours' and it is a special track indeed, one that's full of romantic charm, mystery and plenty of proto-house vibes. Its vocals will be embedded in your mind forever upon first listen, and you get an instrumental cut on the flip, too.
